VW Golf GTI MK6 Edition 35 420HP REVIEW on AUTOBAHN [NO SPEED LIMIT] by AutoTopNL
**A Golf GTI Edition 35 with a Turbo Boost**
Because rather than adding 25 horsepower to the edition 35 by just tweaking the GTI engine, this is actually a down-tuned version of the Golf R and Siroc R engine. But it's not stock as you can see. So, you've got a different intake system, it has a hybrid turbo so they changed the insides of the turbo. It has a bigger fuel pump, a different intercooler, so all the basics are changed and that means that it now delivers 420 horsepower and 560 newton meters of torque. Both is a lot for this car to deal with because of course, it's front-wheel drive, it's also a manual, and it does have an XDS electronic limited-slip diff at the front to help it cope with that power.
But you'll see that it's still quite difficult. It also has some 35 badges on the inside like on the seats and special seat upholstery as well. The Golf ball gear shifter of course and he added a turbo boost and oil pressure gauge down there. Of course, we've got the GTI steering wheel with the flat bottom. It's actually quite a nice steering wheel. I do feel like it should be a little bit more upright though, but that might be just my preference.
**A Fun Drive**
It's got another feature right there - this is the AC button. But it has a different throttle mapping if you hit that button so if you turn it off, you have a nice sound from that HCS downpipe and Miltek exhaust. But if you turn it on, you get some pops and bangs. Let's take it for a drive and see what it's like. As you know or you may not know, I'll tell you this is a stock GTI with a manual gearbox - it's quite fun. It's quite a good car even though even with 235 horsepower, it's quite a bit of power for this car on those front wheels that XDS differential.
So, it's not a limited-slip diff in a mechanical sense. It's a software version of it, so limited slip diff adds power to the wheel that can have it. So, that's the outer wheel and the XDS differential breaks the inner wheel, so it emulates a limited-slip diff basically but it's not the same. You can actually feel that it does have a limit. So, you'll notice when traction control is off and you hit the throttle especially near a corner, it will just go straight because it can't handle this amount of power on the front wheels.
**The Autobahn**
As long as you've got a little speed though, it's okay. You could see in third gear - it's actually pretty good. The sound is also pretty nice. It's a lot more exciting than a stock Golf GTI of course. If you want to listen to that sound, you can check out the acceleration video we've got a pull-away in there so go check it out if you're interested.
For now, we are going to hit the autobahn and see what it's like over there. It also has a different clutch to be able to cope with that extra power. So, you can actually feel that the turbo needs some time to build boost but when it is at full boost, it's actually a really fast car. And the brakes are really good as well. You can really feel that those TTR brakes are there. They are a lot bigger and they bite really nicely.
**Performance Results**
It's just always very good to drive a car when you have the feeling that you've got some good brakes right there. It's really important and it's often overlooked when tuning a car. So, I'm really happy with those for 100 to 200 this car did an 11.25 run which puts it on par with a Tesla Model 3 Performance and a BMW M340i Touring. Uh so that's actually not bad right in between a six-cylinder and an electric car both are seriously quick.
So, you can see it's a little bit busy so we don't have that much space and time to work with. Not going to get any crazy speeds but Cedric the owner said on the way here he hit 280 on the speedo so it is a seriously quick car this and it sounds good. It breaks well. That's racing suspension is really good as well so it's a nice handling car you can really sense that talking to him that he enjoys spending time and of course resources into this car to make it his own and to make it better because even though it's a cool car, a Golf GTI Edition 35 it can definitely use some more power and some more sound and this has it so yeah it's a cool car.
**Thanks**
