Restoring my First Car - The Gross Part...

How to Clean Your Car and Other Projects

The art of cleaning your car can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to intricate details like crevices and nuances that you've become familiar with over time. As Adam discovered while cleaning his own car, it's easy to get caught up in the nostalgia of memories made while driving or riding in the vehicle. In this article, we'll explore some of the techniques and tools used by Adam to tackle various projects, including cleaning his car and more.

Power Washing: A Simple yet Effective Method

Adam started by power washing his car, a method he thought would be effective for removing dirt and grime. He found that it was surprisingly good at tackling tough stains and got him in the right mindset for other tasks. Power washing is often overlooked as a viable option for cleaning cars, but it can be an effective way to remove loose debris and dirt from the surface of your vehicle.

Discovering Hidden Components

While cleaning his car, Adam stumbled upon hidden components he had forgotten about, including LED strips that illuminated footwelds. These had been installed years ago, and although they still worked, Adam realized that technology had advanced significantly since then. This discovery sparked a renewed interest in the car's features and encouraged Adam to explore other projects.

Using Lint Rollers for Cleaning

One of the most unexpected tools Adam used while cleaning his car was a lint roller. He found it to be surprisingly effective at picking up small particles like sand, which had accumulated over time. This experience highlights the importance of using creative problem-solving techniques when faced with unusual cleaning tasks.

Tick-Tock Car Building: A New Venture?

Adam and Mike, another car enthusiast, were discussing the idea of creating a Tick-Tok account focused on car building. They joked about quitting YouTube for TikTok but ultimately decided against it, realizing that there are already established channels dedicated to this type of content. Instead, they decided to create their own channel, leveraging the expertise and camaraderie they've developed over time.

Reminiscing About Old Friends

One of the most nostalgic aspects of cleaning Adam's car was revisiting memories of old friends who used to ride in the backseat with him. The smell of his friends' presence still lingered, evoking a sense of warmth and camaraderie. This experience highlights the emotional connection people have with their vehicles and the importance of preserving these memories.

The E46 M3 Seat: A Question of Preference

Adam was considering whether to keep or replace his car's original seats. He had been tempted by the idea of upgrading to an E46 M3 seat, which seemed more luxurious and high-end. However, he eventually decided to leave his stock seats in place, as they were in relatively good condition and didn't require significant effort to maintain.

A Brief History of Seat Technology

Adam's experience with different seat materials led him to ponder the evolution of car seating technology. He noted that E46 M3 seats were considered softer and higher-end than some other models, such as the 325 i. However, he also realized that some leather types held up better than others over time.

The Front Seats: A Tale of Two Materials

Adam's assessment of his car's front seats was not entirely positive. While they had been treated to a rougher material, it seemed more durable than the softer leather found in other models. He ultimately decided against replacing them, opting instead to leave them as is.

A Look at the Adjusters: A Nod to Innovation

Adam couldn't help but admire the clever design of his car's adjusters, which allowed for precise control over the seats' position. This attention to detail and innovative design were a testament to the engineering prowess that went into creating this vehicle.

Conclusion

As Adam wrapped up his cleaning project, he reflected on the experience and realized that it had been a labor of love. From power washing to discovering hidden components, every step of the process taught him something new about his car and himself. As for future projects, Adam is excited to tackle them with renewed enthusiasm, leveraging his creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail to bring new ideas to life.

The Final Touches: Reassembling the Interior

Adam's cleaning project was by no means over. He still had to reassemble the interior, a task that required patience and attention to detail. As he worked, he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that his car was now clean and ready for its next adventure.

The Significance of Cleaning: A Personal Perspective

For Adam, cleaning his car was more than just a chore; it was an opportunity to reconnect with his past and reflect on the memories made within its walls. As he sat in his newly cleaned interior, he felt a sense of accomplishment and pride, knowing that every detail had been attended to.

In the end, Adam's experience serves as a reminder that cleaning our cars โ€“ or any other object we cherish โ€“ can be a therapeutic and rewarding experience. By taking the time to appreciate the intricate details and nuances of our possessions, we can cultivate a deeper connection with them and ourselves.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyo the brakes don't work on this thing bro brakes don't work don't worry ah yes adam it smells just like i remember welcome to another video working on the stinky e46 jimmy's here i roped him into helping me i think jimmy drove this car probably just as much as i did back in the day 100 we would take when we would take road trips i don't have to answer so many damn emails no that's not what it was yeah jimmy drove a saturn back in the day and whenever we were going far he was like oh i don't want to take my car it's too sketchy so you would take this and if i drove it i had to pay for gas so i think that is that i think that was old jimmy logic um but yeah this thing's uh a little rough the plan today is to do the thing that i've been procrastinating and i convinced jimmy to help me so it's way less daunting the interior is gross there's screws and spiders and cobwebs everywhere i just broke the center console yeah sorry about that i feel like the best place to start is pull the seats out and like assess assess the situation do i have a carpet shampoo or mike i feel like they keep on getting stolen for the pupu water i don't know i think you need jesus for this one adam yeah hey excuse me wait if the seat moves it won't be that bad but if the seat doesn't move i don't think you had to start that okay ready do it again how do you think we'll be able to get it out if the seat doesn't move because we won't be able to get hardware out right we can get crafty good drivers you know what seats you get out mike hey be nice it's as just more just falls out of the thing looks great looks great oh man seriously yep how are we gonna see that doesn't work in full panic um good question there has to be a release or something to the internet we go so there was this one time lz um drove to woodward and locked his keys in his trunk yeah and so to open the trunk how did you open you broke this taillight yeah so you can break these tail lights and then i had a skinny skater boy reach his hand through this hole and grab this thing to do the trunk release it's impressive i know i only scratched the paint a little bit in the process you got new tires for sometimes 36 tires i want to see if we can fit these on the stock e46 bro monster jams in town baby smells man let's stay i don't closed why he thought i'd be able to do this that's the stance yep get her done jim jimmy hey hey stop it why are you breaking my seats you said you had me no don't do that i prefer we don't break anything because these might actually go back in i feel like the seats are part of the soul of the car that's the woman i'm kind of torn about because like it's got to feel like your ass is in the same seat you know many times i've farted in these seats it's true am i a sweaty biker butt a lot a lot it looks like the the seat goes close enough for colette to drive let me let me put this in the coffin you know it'll break is it gonna be impossible to eat yeah that's why i gotta break it but i don't think that will solve anything it'll make it a hell a lot more fun like i'm down to break it but i don't think that will solve anything hold on let's exhaust all our options first i'm exhausted that's my option here's an extension party tricks with lz that might be a little too long like good old times adam oh he's doing like what we do to starters if there's jimmy it's not a starter it's an electric little motor same yep there's gotta be a the release is jimmy's foot and 10 miles an hour of running speed i like that yeah so what if we pull this one out i like that look at the bottom of it oh yes more spoils yes do you see my plan all right so if we take so this is the motor that needs to move but you see what i'm saying if we just unbolt these would we be able to just get it off no it's still attached here what we can do is we could take a sawzall to this no it's not do me wrong if we end if we just undo these four bolts there's nothing else attached to the seat the motor no let's not touch the c okay but if we undo these four bolts i don't know how we would get this off because it looks like it the seat would need to slide in you know quite the predicament so adam's trying to be strategic and like figure something out i think we should just break it yeah and then like ask questions afterwards one will take four minutes and we'll take an hour and a half yeah why is he under the dash now find something good in there lz oh i i didn't unplug it it's just like a blown fuse like this whole time can we check that i i plugged one and i gave up should we check fuses really quick oh yeah that's that's why i stopped pain wow i can't deal with blood or rust nah that's rust or both unless you got brown blood then i'd be concerned checking the fuses it might just be one i was ready to put the thing on coffin dude oh my finger hurts so bad from all the time hey mike remember that time you thought buying back your original car would be such a good yeah look look look look dude imagine it's just a fuse never that easy it could be that easy look at all the blood and tennis i'm surprised my car never gave me tetanus you don't know that you're looking a little tail lately watch everything that doesn't work on this car is actually just a blown fuse look for more sean we got one of these on the forums you're supposed to disconnect the battery before replacing fuses replace the fuse the build's getting serious coming out hard hard plastic black wheels that plastic from orange not black hey so you guys remember when about i don't know 10 years ago maybe yeah 10 years ago lz made so much fun of me for having a christmas car come here okay yo yo yo check it out is it working it works it's doing the thing make it go in the direction it wants so yo it's crunchy yeah so it doesn't get stuck can i still break it what let's see i was thinking about that just for dramatic effect but like these might be in better shape than the m3 sheets i have so let's wait on that back to this subject um hey i'm happy i inspired him okay ho ho ho yeah are you taking this one out bucko oh my god look at the adjustable and the razor yo that's probably what cut me dude dude that is white florida bugs are built different all right they are dude they're mike i heard you needed a phone charger yeah that's why the fuse broke yeah yeah thank you dude oh yes oh my god one with the yo adam is that yours no well it could be built a whole damn car with this dude i would be stoked if i found like one of my old things stashed somewhere like a park tool wrench or something adam you jewel yo dude i've been really wanting to take up that sport no keep it it's gonna be nice it smells like this this is one of those videos that just like films itself this this is it like power subscribers nothing whatsoever don't scratch it i'm not i'm being gentle i'm treating it as if it's my own i have a three series a two three series where's that razor blade no don't cut my seat open it's gonna say just slice it right off oh there's a butt there's just talking in the back if they're being so like pretty precisely i actually do care about this car so like as fun as it would be to like be that ignorant it's not a del sol you know don't you even start jimmy remembers that car adam never saw that car inside rotting no i know you saw that thing six years ago too and it's pride with my goofy sticking out of it you're cool dude mike you're cool dude yo adam you're a cool dude big wrench guy big socket guy big foot long extension for i got it i got a tool that'll work for you dude it was under the seat the whole time what imagine good old stanley whatever size this is at that's what it's stuck yeah looks like it's now a 22 millimeter wrench built to last duralast baby i will say it's actually like easier to pull see that the bmw is out of a nest chassis he's dodging the question yeah he likes his pcs yeah all right maybe we should put this on the scp euro list right here the seat belt yeah she locked it's just like oh it's limp can't be having that you know adam i really love our time together but this sucks with the socks let's bust out that shot back this let's push out the power washer or something oh buffalo nickel yeah you thirsty dog fresh seal how old is this it can't be that old well i feel like nestle water would have an expiration date so all the piss to the surface are you supposed to wipe it was supposed to be good for like cleaning crevices and stuff i feel like a carpet cleaner for the carpet's probably better than use this for like the little annoying oh areas smells disgusting yeah this is swipe away and see what we got i'm blowing through that fluid it's just nice that it gets in all those creases yeah so now i would go over this with like a proper like leather cleaner you can put leather cleaner in that put whatever you want it's not whatever someone put in before that's much better yeah before after the door cards are for sure salvageable yeah the door cars aged very well not too bad behind a bunch of grime molds dirt spiders and piss great car great car great car oh this thing's cool honestly clean the seat really well it's urea i think i think the water is bringing the smell out now i kept this car clean dude i literally watched this car like once a week i waxed this car once a week before ceramic coating and all that this is the car i get some wax on these no this is the car that got me in the habit of when you do this right you sit in the car you go oh yeah yeah now every lz car i do that too it's just like in my brain this obviously cleans the leather seat really well yeah like it gets in those little reports ready for this yes sir you're ready for this transformation you can tell there he is on camera right mm-hmm i have something that might work just as good give me a second see how this works yeah not too bad it looks new yeah i don't want to stay in the headliner okay there we go that was it was just he goes what was that pull it out pull it out oh we pulled it okay you know what sucks this foam yeah holds it in adam was pretty good and then we pulled the back seats it goes oh that stinks oh yeah now you make this thing i want to figure out how to get this deck lid off so i can clean it easier i mean i can probably do it with this thing in i just this is getting like a full cage and everything no interior right no it's already halfway there i thought this was your fd car for next year i wish that'd be kind of cool kind of cool i always wanted to kind of throw through here because then you could have a ski pass through this is like it's like pre-made but it was an option from the factory because my seat doesn't fold down but you can like cut this thing out and then you can stick stuff through it what would you have stuck through it i couldn't really fit a bike through there so it's kind of useless for me if i'm being honest big ski guy yeah dude i don't know how to clean you know what adam used to ride the ski blades are those things yeah the rip sticks how am i gonna do this i think we just need to power wash this i found another thing that i forgot about underneath the dash it lasted all this time i had put blue led strips to illuminate foot welds and i thought it was the coolest thing and i i gotta say they lasted i don't know if they still work i probably tested them but look at that led strip technology's probably come so far since i put these in yeah look how bulky that is ten years yo it's sick though that it's lasted yeah i feel bad taking it out but the wires were bothering me i know where you can get some more yeah me too underglow coming soon having a hard time with lint so i grabbed what seemed like an obvious thing the lint roller actually works great for this area picks up all the little sand and i couldn't do a vacuum are we making a tick tock right now is that what this is anything that we filmed could be turned into you're telling me that now mike this changes everything find me the time to do that and i will do that dude we could we could quit youtube for tick tock yeah imagine we could be the only tick tock car building channel no i think we're a little late for that one there's people that build cars just for tick-tock yeah no way let's play on youtube mike johan he goes like this adam i've been waiting this whole time tick-tock time baby we were just reminiscing about how many friends i had in the backseat growing up it smells like my friends nothing that's what it smells like one of the weirdest things about cleaning this car is like my brain still remembers like weird crevices and nuances of the car from when i used to clean it all the time so like just sticking the rag in the little handbrake corner and like trying to get the little crust out of there like literally flashbacks non-stop getting there about time to start messing with these front seats and i think that's where we'll probably leave off on this video so i've got here the e46 m3 seat next to the 325 ic you can see on the back these m3 seats are kind of in rougher shape than mine and then also in the front too they have a lot more like cracking but what's weird is like if you guys have ever been an m3 and an iam the m's always have like softer higher end leather so that is nicer but i feel like the more rough leather has held up a lot better this is almost like plastic where this is like true feeling leather but i'm leaning towards right now just leaving my stock seats in the car because i think overall they're in better shape um maybe i'll see if i can steal them headrests it'd be kind of cool because those look nice and probably make the seat look a little more high-end what do you think mike i kind of side a little more with the m3 seats but there's really no difference i think it's a little bit more work changing the uh like actual rails over so yeah like coupe to sedan otherwise it'd be right bolton they're just like they don't look that great if they're mint i'd be like way more about it yeah this was cool to have m seats but let's see how this looks all four of them are kind of in the similar condition i just don't like the cracks yeah especially like that one and then the backs on the end seats are a little beat up too does that look weird no and sportier big sport car do so well i was a little overly ambitious with what i wanted to get done in this video i thought it was realistic to deep clean this entire interior replace all the window regulators and do angel eyes in one video and here we are day two and just finishing putting the interior back together she was some work yeah there it was a lot i finally can sit in this car without having a fear of getting bitten by spiders or insects so it's really cool but unfortunately this is probably the least satisfying thing that will ever be done on this car actually i shouldn't say least satisfying least exciting um but either way i hope you guys enjoyed the video even though i had told you guys that i wasn't planning to do anything with this car right off the rip there is kind of like still a decent amount of stuff left to do with the car and some parts that i have come in so i guess just whenever i have time and i'm able to come out in the shop this will just kind of be my little side tinker don't forget to use your blinker and that's the video bye-bye look at the adjustable in the razor yo that's probably what caught me that is right\n"
