Vizio M-Series Quantum Unboxing and Basic Setup _ Black Friday Contender
**Unboxing and First Impressions: Vizio M-Series TV Review**
As I carefully opened the box to unbox my new Vizio M-Series TV, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The TV had already been handled by another reviewer before me, or so it seemed, as evidenced by the handle being upside down in the box. Fortunately, nothing was lost during the unboxing process, and all the necessary components were present.
**Assembling the TV**
Once I began assembling the TV, I noticed that the stands were designed to fit snugly into place on either side of the TV. However, there was a catch - the stands couldn't be removed from their respective positions without carefully flipping them over. This may seem like a minor inconvenience, but it's essential to ensure proper alignment and stability for optimal viewing experience.
**Feet and Stability**
The feet on this TV are truly exceptional, providing superior stability and minimizing any wobble or flex. The thread lock on the screws seems to be doing its job well, ensuring that the feet stay securely in place. I was impressed by how stable the TV feels, even with a little force applied.
**Input Options and Connectivity**
The input options for this TV are standard fare, with four HDMI ports, composite video, and analog audio available. The rear-facing speaker system is also present, although I'm not entirely convinced about its sound quality (more on that later). The bezels are matte black, a welcome change from the glossy finish of some other TVs.
**SmartCast and Firmware Updates**
Before we dive into the picture quality, it's essential to note that this TV comes with SmartCast, Vizio's smart TV platform. The latest firmware update is currently available, which promises improved performance and snappier interactions. I was able to test out the updates process, which took around 20 minutes to complete - not bad for a quick reset.
**Initial Setup**
During the initial setup process, users are presented with a series of options that include sharing data or accepting terms and conditions. This is where suggested content comes into play, and I noticed that the TV was eager to recommend shows and movies based on user interests (or lack thereof). However, I did find it frustrating to scroll through two lines to access the apps section.
**Suggested Content**
Speaking of content, let's take a look at some of the suggested titles. The Vizio M-Series seems to be recommending popular shows and movies from various streaming services, including Pluto TV, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. While I appreciate the effort, I do wish that the apps were listed first.
**Performance and Future Updates**
The latest firmware update has also introduced support for Disney+, although it's not currently available on this particular TV model (though it will be soon). The Vizio M-Series seems to be keeping up with the latest updates, but there is still room for improvement in terms of quickness and responsiveness.
**Conclusion**
For now, the Vizio M-Series TV seems like a solid choice for those looking for an affordable smart TV. While it may not have all the bells and whistles, it's clear that Vizio has put thought into designing a user-friendly interface and improving its SmartCast platform. However, I do have some reservations about the picture quality (more on that in our upcoming review video).
