XFX Pro 850W XXX Edition Power Supply FULL Review!

**The Importance of Power Supplies in Computing**

When it comes to building a computer, one of the most crucial components that can make or break the entire system is the power supply unit (PSU). The PSU is responsible for converting Alternating Current (AC) power from the mains into Direct Current (DC) power that the computer's components can use. A good quality PSU is essential to ensure that all the components in the system are powered correctly and safely.

**Power Supplies: More Than Just Efficiency**

Many people with 88 plus certifications judge a whole power supply on its 80 plus certification, which measures efficiency. However, this approach doesn't consider other important factors such as reliability, quality of components, and warranty duration. A high-quality PSU that uses Japanese capacitors, for example, is likely to be more reliable and last longer than one that uses cheaper alternatives.

**XFX Power Supplies: A Reliable Option**

The XFX power supply in question has a 80 plus certification, which means it can efficiently convert AC power into DC power. The power supply also features "Easy Rail Plus Technology," which provides maximum power to the system without worrying about running out of capacity. This technology is backed by sensors that ensure the PSU is not overloading and overheating, even under heavy loads.

**Guarantees and Warranties: A Must-Have**

When it comes to power supplies, guarantees and warranties are essential. A good quality PSU should have a reasonable warranty period, usually around 3-5 years. This ensures that if something goes wrong with the PSU, the manufacturer will support you for an extended period. The XFX power supply in question has a five-year warranty, which is impressive.

**Aesthetics and Build Quality**

The design of the power supply is also important. The XFX power supply has a sleek and compact design that fits well in most builds. The mesh braiding on the cables adds a touch of style to the build. However, some people may not like the all-black design, which can result in color clashes with other components.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, a good quality power supply is essential for building a reliable and efficient computer system. While efficiency ratings are important, they don't consider other crucial factors such as reliability, quality of components, and warranty duration. The XFX power supply in question has impressed me with its performance under heavy loads and its long warranty period. If you're looking for an 850-watt power supply to power a two-way SLI build or a single GPU build, this is definitely worth considering.

**Recommendation**

If you're in the market for an 850-watt power supply that can handle intensive builds, look no further than this XFX power supply. The five-year warranty and high-quality components ensure that it will last long and perform well even under heavy loads. While some may not like the all-black design, the mesh braiding on the cables adds a touch of style to the build. With its 80 plus certification and Easy Rail Plus Technology, this power supply is an excellent choice for any serious gamer or content creator.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enChoki it's not even plugged in welcome back to another geek walk video today I'm reviewing this this is the XFX pro 850 watt x-x-x Edition semi modular hybrid power supply so let's go ham on that light button and see if we can get 50 likes on this video without any further ado make sure to subscribe but let's get in to today's review so let's start off with a physical overview of this 850 watt power supply we'll start here with the family got one hundred and thirty-five millimeter ball bearing fan and I would like to make a comment it just say on the box and on the website and specifications that it is a quiet fan and I can reassure that the fan is actually quieter than the fan on my EVGA supernova which is a slightly higher end power supply than this one and the fan really is nice and quiet if you don't move along to this side you can see ventilation we can see a lot of the components within the power supply inside as well through the the mesh looking also see an X Factor go a power button which makes a lovely satisfying click on and off beautiful and a standard power a standard power and brick acceptor so this kind of power port sorry for your plugin and what have you if we then move around to one of the sides you can see you've got the XFX and the XFX branding the experts logo along with the pro 850 branding and the expect slogan which is play hard and we have that on the other sides that flipped over now that basically means that no matter the orientation whether you have fan side up or fan side down like so that through the window of your case if you window to show it off you will be able to see the branding on the side of your power supply the right way which is a great deal if we head over to the the bottom if you will which will be the bottom depending on which way you're putting it we can see we've got the chart of the the standardized chart which we've got on all of this all power supplies on this side which shows what power is coming from what rails and I'll get onto that in a moment and serial numbers certifications all that kind of stuff if I move over to the final side this is the side that would be inside of your computer that way if you will we have our modular in a semi modular interface to plug in and the cables that we need and we also have some cables coming out now I'm going to go and start onto these cables now the cables that come out we have a 20+4 pin motherboard cable we have a dual six plus two pin PCIe power cable and we also have a focus for pin at CPU connect app now semi modular power supplies that i've encountered in the past have only had the 20+4 pin and the eight pin CPU power connector but it's effective presume that if you're buying something with this much horsepower and 850 watt power supply which is quite a lot they presume that you're going to be using the GPU and I can fully understand that move and if you aren't using the GPU then what the hell are you ruining on this but and so yeah now the sleeve in on these is a lot that nekkid sleeve and now if quite ce3 can see the colors inside and unfortunately once we get to the other end of the cable it is a bit we have got that rainbow effect motherboard power connector going on which is a tad disappointing and some people won't be too keen on that but I've found now that around half the fields do actually use cable extensions I know I do a lot of mates do so you know if you're going to be using sleeve cable extensions anyway what does it really matter but what about the included cables that is a massive massive talking points are going to go over the cables that are included now so if we start off with SATA power SATA Hannity's we are completely spoiled we have got to four-way SATA harnesses to be able to plug in four and three and a half inch SATA drives or whether that me SATA Express whatever it be and you get one bite you get one by four and you also get another by force either blow up to eight drive with the by fours and then you get one by two so if you're only using one drive where you're only using two drive you'll obviously use this because there's a lot less cable to manage now we'll move on to accessory cables we've got a molex to floppy disk adapter no one's really going to use it but it's nice that they include it molex wise we got spoil as well you get a lot more molex connectors with this power supply than other power supplies I've encountered in the past that may be partly due to the fact that this is a slightly older power supply molex is being phased out but having it there and having the ability to use it is a great plus you get one two way molex power harness and you get one three weight mode power harness as well finally if we move on to GPU power connectors we are really really spoiled for choice here we have two six bus so each each PCIe cable each GPU cable has got two six plus two pin connectors and we have two of those so not only do we have the two six plus two pins into the into the power supply we also have another four six plus two pin connectors giving you the capability of even going up to four way SLI now officially on the box this just support two-way SLI or crossfire but obviously if you're using a lower wattage group of cards then you will be able to do up to four-way SLI it is worth noting however that and that you are only getting three separate cables so unless you are somehow managing to reach this cable all the way down to a GPU below you are going to be restricted to 3-way SLI or crossfire personally I wouldn't go to more than two way on an 85 850 watt power supply but you are very easily able to go up to 2 al I can even do a two-way SLI on gtx 980 s with this power supply so now let's talk a little bit about the stuff inside you've heard enough about what it looks like you've seen the outside and you've heard about it more than enough now what really matters with power supplies is what's in the inside so let's start off with certification so it does support I just sports re and 80 plus certification it in the AP plus bronze standard which guarantees it will run above 85% efficiency at all time so this power supply is 850 watt power supply is capable of outputting 850 watts but guarantees it will output more than seven hundred and twenty two and a half watts at all times you do have to remember that 99% of the time you are going to be supplying more than more than that 720 720 2.5 watts and you may never go down that low but just take that into consideration now many people with the 88 plus certifications they judge a whole power supply on the 80 plus certifications and that really isn't what it's about XFX makes some really great power supplies and then and it supports fully Jason it's got inside it's got fully Japanese capacitors so why Japanese capacitors why not Chinese or you know so Japanese capacitors typically are much more reliable they're much more cred and they are actually much more expensive it's similar to using a cherry MX switch versus a versus a copy of it you know if you buy the Cherry MX which if you get the Japanese capacitors you're getting a higher quality of included included content a higher quality of components and having a high quality power supply really is incredibly important because the power supply is essentially a component that could kill all of all of your other components now this past flight claims to support XFX is technology which they're calling easy rail plus technology to provide maximum power basically what it's what it's saying it's doing is that you're not having to worry about not having enough power and it's got it's got sensors inside of the power supply to ensure that what you're trying to pull org in and the components that the power they're trying to draw it's basically saying you're not going to overheat this power supply you're not going to over run it and it's going to be able to handle all of those extra components which is extra graphics cards and and SATA power cables and a molex cables and that kind of thing and then the massive thing for me with power supplies I don't spin the box another massive thing for me with power supplies is their claim of guarantees and warranties and that kind of thing and it's something I massively look for and you can tell a high end power supply simply by the years of warranties that it has this has a five year included warranty and they're claiming five star support so the support on this should be top-notch and I've not actually had to test this out which is a good thing because nothing's gone wrong and you never have to want to test the year the warranty out by having a five-year warranty is just so much more reassuring you know that if something goes wrong you know that this thing is going to last and most people nowadays won't have a computer for five years not if you're an enthusiast and not if you're buying something of this caliber so hopefully you've enjoyed this review this power supply over here which looks on the site does look really really good and it's just this will be going into this will be one of the two power supplies that's going into my my x99 editing and gaming PC build in May so what would I like to see different what would I like to see the same what do I like so I would love to see a slightly higher of cable and Isis not necessarily the quality bit more the looked it's great to have this sort of this mesh braiding around the cable but seeing this all blacked out plastic which I really like the look off because you're not having any color clashes in your build not having that on these cables could be seen as a bit of a downside to some people this is a higher quality here that's coming out the power supply of the braiding that some for some people especially I'm not a huge fan of seeing all these colors I will be using extensions with it anyway so it doesn't overly matter and the cables are of a higher quality looks wise I absolutely love this thing and a slightly higher 80-plus efficiency on this such as silver or gold would have been more reassuring but it certainly would be a little bit nicer bills wise and on and when you paying your electricity and that kind of thing each of LaFrance however and the inbuilt Japanese capacitors within this power supply reassure me that this thing is going to be great for SLI I'm going to be crossfire and the ultimate test will come in mate when we see this perform all my testing so far even under quite large loads as shown that this power supply really is a nice reliable unit if you're looking in the market for eight and a low-price great value 850 watt power supply to power a two-way SLI build a single GPU build an intensive GPU quite a big hard-hitting build then this really is the power supply for you I'll leave links as always in the description below make sure to drop a like
