Crashed my 180SX into a Guardrail....
The Mountain Gambia Official Stream Series Drift Challenge Australia Event: Day Two
As I stood at the drift challenge event, surrounded by the lush greenery of the mountain, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and enthusiasm. It was officially day two of the event, and I was eager to see how things would unfold. The weather forecast had indicated some light rain, but that wasn't going to dampen our spirits. In fact, it seemed to have brought us all together in a shared sense of adventure.
I took a moment to reflect on my own project, a JZX 100 that I had been working on back home. It was finally starting to come together, thanks to some generous donations from my friend Keon who had amassed a collection of spare parts and accessories. The car was going to look incredible, and I couldn't wait for the body shop to put their magic touch on it. Our friend Billy Mitchell was also hard at work, creating a truly unique piece that would surely turn heads.
As I made my way over to the designated area for filming, I noticed Luke, who had been officially dubbed "Dale" – his version of Schulman. He seemed to be taking the news in stride, but I could tell he was a bit disappointed about something. When asked what had happened, he explained that he had let go too early on one side and it had snapped back into place unexpectedly. He wasn't too hard on himself, though – after all, it's just part of the game. The fact that Frodo had been able to get back under control without any further incident was a testament to his skill and experience.
Luke's car had suffered some damage, with the tension rod bracket caving in slightly. It was clear that this would require some careful handling and attention to detail if it was going to be fixed properly. The solution, for now, was to extend the bracket and hope for the best. Unfortunately, this meant that Luke wouldn't be able to take his car back out onto the course today. However, he remained optimistic about the future and vowed to try again tomorrow.
In between takes, we chatted with each other about our respective passions – Luke's background in BMX riding was fascinating, and I couldn't help but ask him more about it. He explained that he missed the jam days, when all you needed was a bike and some open space to ride freely. It was clear that his experience had honed his skills as a driver, and he had a deep appreciation for the art of drifting.
As we took a break from filming, I couldn't help but feel a sense of respect for the athletes who were competing in this event. The level of skill and dedication required to perform at this level was truly impressive. It's not just about speed – it's about finesse, control, and strategy. And yet, despite the challenges, they all seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely.
Of course, there were also some lighter moments to be found. Luke had tried to cable-tie Ale to a fence earlier in the day, which hadn't exactly gone according to plan. It was a funny moment that broke the tension and allowed us all to relax for a bit. And then, of course, there was Sherman – who had managed to get his car out onto the course despite some initial difficulties.
As I watched the action unfold on the track, I couldn't help but feel inspired by the creativity and energy of this event. It was clear that everyone involved was passionate about drifting, and it showed in every detail – from the cars themselves to the creative way they were being showcased.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enall right so we've got some light rain but it is officially day two here at the mountain Gambia official stream series drift challenge Australia event I'm in a really great mood because back home I just found a door and some trim pieces for my jzx 100 I made a friend named Keon who had a bunch of spare parts and stuff so that cars gonna be looking sick it's not the body shop our friend Billy Mitchell is doing some sick stuff to it so we get back the Mitchell pager is gonna be pretty rad but I'm very pumped yesterday I haven't gotten a drive like that in a while just constantly hah laughing in the car that works having fun shredding with a bunch of good driver we're gonna do the same thing today I'm just gonna do my best to get some really good raw footage for you guys so hopefully the weather stays out and I'm gonna have a blast so Luke is officially labeled Dale his version of my schulman what do you have to say about that absolutely absolutely oh I did something bad how is it not as bad as I thought oh my god just kind of classic when you do behind one side you let it go and they just come back on Frodo I'm really sorry I don't know what happened was it a little wet yeah yeah snapped a little bit hard and not the exhaust wow that could have been so much worse I thought the whole side of the car was done I definitely bent or broke some stuff up front but yes the rear wasn't too bad but in the front this tension rod brackets gonna be kinda hard to show you caved in a little bit so for now I don't think it's a good idea to bend it back because it's gonna be very weak so what we're gonna do is just extend to compensate and hopefully get through the day that thing is twisted so intended rod bracket was actually little bit too bent to get the car to align right so I was able to get another set to have a power brace welded on from someone who blew up their car very thankful for that best to try to bend it back but you can see it kind of crumpled on this side and the whole thing is like twisted sideways when it should be straight so definitely quite a bit give me the best explanation of the 60 Minutes to win it your BMX guy I'm a BMX guy uh-huh I missed the jam days right where you can just jam and ride that's all it is it's just one hour everyone can just send it through the sick of and the best person or just in this case who you thinks that being the coolest driver at the end of that one hour against their father Lobato so unfortunately I don't think my car's gonna be back on the road today there's a bunch of other little things every time we get on the ground we get my vikrum I suppose just get a good for tomorrow we have bored we tried to cable-tied ale to the fence hurt bad yeah I admittedly I send it all diesel yes Sherman wouldn't be able to do that so you got him on that I'm winning so far yep Hangul sick not a prelude that's my dad you doubt it that translation froth it makes me really like it oh yeah of course I missed the crash don't even kill an old egg for sure the craziest thing at the level of driving so I hear that trying to judge this and trying to decide who's like really sending at the artist he's very very difficult the irony of being in a volcanic crater and having smoke drifting around except it's tire smokeall right so we've got some light rain but it is
