**A Game Changer: Apple's Studio Dock for iPads**
In this exciting review, we dive into the world of Apple's latest innovation - the Studio Dock for iPads. This accessory has been touted as a game changer for anyone looking to turn their iPad into a powerful desktop replacement. But does it live up to the hype? We put it through its paces and explore what makes it so impressive.
**Ergonomic Perfection**
One of the first things that caught our attention was the height of the Studio Dock. It's not directly eye level, but also not right against the desk like many other iPad stands we've seen. Instead, it sits at a comfortable angle, providing an ergonomic setup that feels perfect for long sessions of typing and computing. This is especially important for those who plan to use their iPad as a desktop replacement, as it reduces the risk of strain on the neck and shoulders.
**Essential Accessories**
To get the most out of this setup, we discovered that a few essential accessories are required. The Kikoin K3 keyboard is a must-have, as it provides the necessary typing experience for those who plan to use their iPad for extensive work sessions. Additionally, the Logitech Pebble Mouse is an excellent choice for iPads, offering a precise and intuitive way to interact with your devices. These accessories, combined with the Studio Dock, create a formidable team that's capable of handling even the most demanding tasks.
**AirPods and Wireless Charging**
Another feature that impressed us was the seamless integration of AirPods. The Studio Dock comes equipped with a charging dock for both the AirPods and the iPhone, making it easy to keep your devices charged on the go. This is especially convenient for those who want to take advantage of wireless charging, as the dock supports up to 5 watts of power. We were also pleased to see that an Apple Watch charger is available as an optional add-on, providing a convenient way to charge your watch when it's in horizontal mode.
**Full-Screen Apps and External Monitors**
One of the standout features of the Studio Dock is its ability to connect to external monitors. With a simple HDMI connection, you can mirror your iPad screen on any compatible monitor - including our LG model used for this review. We were delighted to discover that many popular apps, such as MindNode and Lumafusion, work seamlessly in full-screen mode on these external displays. This is especially useful for those who want to avoid the black bars often seen when using iPads on monitors.
**A Powerful Setup**
In our initial impressions, we were blown away by the potential of this setup. With the Studio Dock, iPad, and a few essential accessories, you have a powerful tool at your disposal that's capable of handling even the most demanding tasks. Whether you're a creative professional or just someone who wants to stay productive on-the-go, this combination is sure to impress.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, Apple's Studio Dock for iPads has truly raised the bar for tablet computing. With its ergonomic design, seamless integration with essential accessories, and powerful setup options, it's clear that this accessory is here to stay. We're excited to spend more time with this device and explore how it fits into our workflow. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey it's chris on the desk in front of me i've got the kensington studio doc you heard me talk about this when i found out about it here on the channel you've heard me mention it on apple hype which is a good reason to head over to apple hype and get yourself subscribed but now i've actually got it in my hands in a nutshell this lets you magnetically attach your 2018 or newer ipad pro or your 2020 or newer ipad air to this stand but it's not just a stand it's like the swiss army knife of ipad docs as well i was really not expecting such an enormous box but this thing means business and the company is serious about this they're offering a three year warranty who does that they're proud of this if you're looking for a way to bring more power and convenience to your ipad setup at your desk then this is gonna make your desk set up so much more versatile while at the same time still allowing you to detach your ipad very quickly and take off and just be mobile all right now this is the basic setup here before you get the ipad attached and look at this you can easily rotate the screen between horizontal and vertical orientation then on the base this is where your wireless charging is going to happen you've got this nice mat here with some rubber around it this is where you're gonna put your air pods or airpods pro this is where you're gonna put your iphone then when we turn this around on the back this is where you're gonna see a bunch of ports here you got an ethernet port you got three usba's you got an hdmi port you got your power port you turn it over and on one side you've got an sd card reader which is amazing and then you've also got a port to plug in your wired headphones then if we turn it around on the other side you've got a power button and a usbc so this thing really has it all there's two models for the kensington studio doc the only difference is the size of the magnetic plate that's going to let you connect your ipad all right so first things first you got to connect the power adapter and as you can see wherever you live you're pretty much going to be taken care of and all right yeah we got some velcro here so built-in cable management's always appreciated i always hate opening these because i know i'm never going to get it back as perfect as it was right out of the box all right so you get the power set up and you're ready to get going the next thing to do is to get your ipad slid into the connector oh look at that it's magnetic this is awesome slides right in that could not have been easier and it's charging all right so check this out once your ipad's in place you can rotate from vertical to horizontal and back again super easily wow that's slick and then you can also tilt up to 120 degrees so if you're on this side of the desk and you've got someone sitting over here that you want to show something you can easily do that and then rotate and flip it back and get back to work this is ingenious now you might notice there's a cutout for your apple pencil v2 fits it perfectly so you can actually grab your apple pencil adjust this just how you want it and actually get to writing get to sketching and wow that is solid sometimes when you're writing on an ipad stand it's kind of floppy and that's not good this is solid this is sturdy so if you want to get in here and use your paper like on here which is highly recommended thanks to paperlike for sponsoring this video bringing this content to you guys you can take advantage of that signature paper-like feel which makes writing your drawing with any apple pencil feel more like paper so yeah this is just really stable you can come in here and do some serious drawing without a care in the world in terms of if this is gonna move on you or not i really like this but then when you're done sketching you can take that flip this like this and then pull out the ipad just like this and here's what i'm noticing too i really like the height of this it's not directly eye level but also it's not right against the desktop like i feel like so many ipad stands actually are so this is actually a really nice ergonomic height so obviously if you're going to be using this at your desk you're going to want to get a great keyboard this is the kikron k3 which i've used with the ipad several times and i love it and this is logitech's pebble mouse which is a great choice for ipads so yeah this combination here would be pretty ideal if you want to set up at your desk and do some serious typing some serious computing even though yes this is an ipad all right so air pods these go right here and then you see the light light up on the dock as well as on the airpods to know that they're charging and in case you're wondering the airpods are going to charge at 5 watts wirelessly so down it goes like that boom and we're charging with the iphone as well wow i'm seriously excited about this because it feels like everything you need is like right here you got your audio you got your phone you got your actual workhorse right here and you got various peripherals you can be plugging stuff into the back but before we start plugging stuff in i want to tell you about this this is an optional add-on and it's actually an apple watch charger that you can plug in on the side all right so apple watch if you got to charge it just take it off put it on boom charging love it this is what i'm talking about it's just every little thing about this product was super well thought out now obviously the apple watch charger is something that you're only going to want to use probably when it's in horizontal mode it still works down here it's still charging it's just that doesn't look good alright so i'm gearing up to actually hook this up to an external monitor but let me just say you do not have to hook this up to a monitor yes that's part of what this product can offer but i like this as a standalone setup just the ipad the studio dock and like what one two three apple accessories here with the watch the iphone and the airpods this is seriously a new take on an all-in-one kind of a setup all right so as you can see i've got a monitor set up here this is an lg monitor and i've connected it using the hdmi port on the back of the studio dock to the hdmi on the back of this monitor and it's working you can see that the ipad is being mirrored over here on the lg of course and this is not the lg's fault it's just an ipad thing we do have some black bars down the side but watch this i got a surprise for you guys there's more apps than you think that work full screen on an external monitor like mind node one of my favorite apps so when i launch it you can see it kicks in to full screen mode over here but there are some good apps like lumafusion or mind node like what you're seeing right here or procreate aside from the apple apps like keynote or you know any of the iwork suite that are gonna let you not have to see those black bars which is great man this is just gonna be such a powerful setup we're moving in the right direction here with the ipad as a whole as an ecosystem this accessory really moves the needle in terms of how useful an ipad can be on the desk first impressions are i'm impressed i'm going to spend some time with this you guys let me know if you want a full review okay and i'll spend you know a week or a month with this and get back to you on how it worked into my life with my workflow so let me know if that's something you guys want to see otherwise i just couldn't
