Awesome Hardware #0016-A - AMD Fury XT Specs, R9 300 Series Pricing, Steam Machines

The AMD Fury X Card: A Technical Analysis

The AMD Fury X card is a powerful graphics processing unit (GPU) that boasts a wide interface and high bandwidth, making it capable of delivering fast memory speeds. With its 490-bit and 496-bit interfaces, the Fury X can transfer data at incredible rates, allowing for fast access to memory. The card's design allows it to connect to four different packages, each with a capacity of 1024 bits, resulting in an effective interface width of 1024 x 4. This wide interface enables the Fury X to achieve high memory frequencies, making it possible to reach effective memory speeds of over 1 GB/s.

The Fury X's performance is particularly noteworthy when compared to its competitor, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 290x. In a comparison conducted by WCCF Tech, the Fury X was found to be 54% faster than the 290x, despite being only 10 watts more power-efficient. This significant performance increase is due in part to the Fury X's wider interface and higher bandwidth, which enable it to transfer data at much faster rates.

The card's power efficiency is also noteworthy, with the Fury X requiring only slightly more power than the 290x to achieve similar performance levels. This makes the Fury X a more attractive option for those looking to build a powerful gaming rig without breaking the bank. In contrast, Nvidia's high-performance cards often come with higher TDPs and correspondingly higher price tags.

In terms of actual performance, there are currently no public gaming benchmarks available for the Fury X. However, some open-source benchmarks have been leaked, including Ocean Surface Simulation, Face Detection, and TBL1 Optical Flow. In these tests, the Fury X was able to outperform its competitor, the Nvidia Titan X, in some cases, although not always.

The leaked benchmarks also revealed that the Fury X has a tendency to trail behind the Titan X in certain tests, such as the Manhattan Benchmark in GFX Bench. However, it's worth noting that these results are still early and may be influenced by immature drivers or other factors. As more information becomes available, we can expect to see a clearer picture of the Fury X's performance relative to its competitors.

In terms of pricing, AMD is expected to make the Fury X more affordable than its competitor, despite delivering similar or slightly better performance. With its lower power requirements and wider interface, the Fury X offers a compelling value proposition for those looking to build a powerful gaming rig without sacrificing too much performance. As we wait for official launch details and driver releases, one thing is clear: the AMD Fury X card has the potential to be a game-changer in the world of high-performance graphics cards.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI can never open a beer sneakily it's always makes that jingly jangly sound we're live hello we should be live how's it going everyone welcome to awesome Hardware episode 16 six did we update the uh the twitch I did oh good Paul's on it I'm somehow on top of that despite being severely wait wait no I'm not on top of that I spoke too soon uh but despite being severely jetlagged after a long trip in Taiwan and other places uh in Asia for computex and things like that Paul is finally back so everyone give him a warm welcome in chat hi everyone welcome back Paul thank you I see you survived thank you for having me here just barely your house looks different my we're we're at your house Paul so maybe he hasn't fully recovered quite yet but he is at least well enough to to uh carry on with the show today I'm supplementing my alertness with coffee there you go coffee and then you're going to cancel it out with some beer might as well be drinking like an old school for Loco it's the circle of life yeah before they got banned uh but we have a good show for you guys today um starting off with my half of the show we're going to do some a couple segments I've got three good segments for you guys lined up today and then we're going to switch gears to Paul's half of the show I have segments too where he's got segments we've both got pretty hefty segments if you know what I mean so uh I guess first off let's um let's let's do some announcements cuz there are things to be announced uh yeah we should announce things so I think you've got a few of them right I I was going to say happy birthday to Coconut monkey oh that's uh Jay's riding buddy yeah yeah it's his birthdayy birthday I don't know I I I mean unless people are just jokingly sending him happy birthday messages cuz Jay's been known to do that before this is true but I I think that's legit so happy birthday yeah coconut monkey um what else what else we have uh oh yeah I don't know something check it out can't really think about oh oh look at that look at that right there you got you got glasses and mugs uh mugs and glasses which are now also conveniently I should remember how to work on Paul's hardware. uh see my store has not only shirts and stuff like that uh but also you can go up here and click on glasswar now I know fancy look at that and making me feel like poor people having sht on my store there's there's the the English pint glass right here which is more than a regular pint glass it's like a pint glass with extra uh and then there's also the mugs they have my new logo on them this will soon be updated on my actual Channel and all that good stuff but uh yeah check those out if you're interested of course Kyle has a store too where you can buy shirts and and and other inferior products other products that yes I do notice a problem with this glass though Paul what what's wrong with the glass it's kind of hard to see the logo so I think that means we just need to fill it up with beer should we should do that yes that would be good let's let's do that now let's crack crack her open I uh crack to you guys follow me on like Twitter and and uh Instagram and stuff you probably saw a picture of this ridiculous liquor store that I found down the street uh they sell tons of good craft beer for pretty decent prices so uh I stopped there on the way to Paul's house today and picked me up a Hyperion vanilla Stout from Elsa gundo Brewing Company I've had this once before and I never saw it again so I got it because it's delicious it's it's so good well that that sounds delicious and El s gundo yes which is Spanish for the second yeah I knew that I I'm guessing that's what it means I think that's wrong uh I have a Kyle picked me up a beer because I didn't have any left here this is a double double nut brown so Kyle brought me over a little double nut I heard you like the double nut uh a big brown Porter this is by Mammoth Brewing Company from Mammoth Lakes California oh I've actually I've actually had some of there beer before yeah it's not too far from here um further up north I asked I asked the guy what what a good brown ale was and he said do you want a nut once or twice and I was like double nut for sure of course and he pointed me in the direction of that fine beverage beautiful Over Yonder so uh yeah see I think the logo is looking a lot nicer now yeah it stands out a bit shining through with the with the beer and the glass and uh cheers cheers cheers to all you guys thanks for joining us today mhm mhm that's that's delicious all right good guy was right pardon me what what are we what's going on uh so I if you guys couldn't tell I'm I'm sort of uh I guess responsible for Paul in this episode and making sure that he stays awake and alert and he doesn't um that he doesn't pass out basically so let's just jump right into it then uh because if we linger too long Paul's just going to wipe out and he's gonna his head's going to hit the keyboard and it's going to mess up the stream I I got back be back the day before yesterday and I'd normally be fine but for some reason when you come back from Asia to California at least in my experience it's like right at this time of day that it hits you at least for the first few days right after you get back it's like 4:35 3 630 time frame you just like suddenly feel like I've been up for two days or something yeah anyway but I'm good no I'm perfectly fine yeah you sound you sound chipper you sound absolutely pumped I sound great all right so let's just uh use that right there to lead into our first segment of the day oh we got segments and we got lower thirds yeah it's hot and heavy Hardware I felt it only appropriate to go with a segment like this just coming right out of computex uh in Taiwan and um I think some of the things I have on this list were actually shown off at some of them were some of them I did not even see so it's almost like it's even news to me I I did as much as I could there but I did not see everything there's there's a lot of stuff to see it's hard for one man to see it all you need several Tech tubers to cover everything but um so hopefully you guys happen to I'm sure a lot of you guys have seen this stuff already as well whether it was at the event yourself but more likely through other articles and and uh other Tech tubers and stuff but I just wanted to touch on some of the highlights for me anyway PC perspective article here yep PC perspective uh talking about the Asus 3800r uh beautiful monitor this was all the rage at computex oh Asus oh I'm sorry well we got both of them I I switched over the uh the switch to order what do you want first as let's do the Asus first Asus first yeah 3,800 R 34 ultrawide 34 by 3 you say the words and handing off to Kyle uh it's the Asus 3800r 34in ultrawide 3440 by1 1440 IPS 21 by9 curved g-sync monitor o nice so uh they're really going with abbreviations here trying to shorten down names to make them easier to remember and of course that's not the full name of it that's just uh the tagline to to hook you uh that that PC per has used and it's true although I mean you pretty much get most of the specs in that headline alone which are quite impressive um and also look at that stand the stand of that model is is just is kind of nice um it's strikingly modern looks at least got height tilt and swivel yeah it does but I wouldn't expect pivot with a curved mon monitor that'd be weird indeed but uh this this is actually um the one thing that was left in mystery was the actual refresh rate um um but considering that it's using uh ulmb or ultra low motion blur yes um typically monitors with that feature GN panels only um are typically rated at anywhere from 60 to 75 and up uh Hertz uh refresh rate so you could guess or estimate or hypothesize that this is a higher um than average refresh rate monitor I could see them shooting for 75 with something like this yeah yeah I mean that'd be good and honestly 75 would G think is is very nice oh yeah absolutely uh so let's let's have our fingers crossed for that uh you also notice how thin the freaking bezel is I mean you almost have to say what bezel um I can't see they've gone the extra mile to make it super thin I think if you click it it might enlarge but uh it's just incredibly thin which makes it great for a complete surround like triple monitor setup if you want to uh get three of those bad boys in a row of course Al be it for the bottom uh bezel which is a bit thicker to land that Asus branding right there but altogether a beautiful beautiful monitor even the back has like that crazy design on it which yeah it's very kind of I hate I hate to say Transformers is that's that's terrible but well this this monitor was built by Michael Bay so uh it yeah after three months it explodes don't don't give him credit for this design all right I won't all right but um that's pretty cool yeah um there's an LG as well there's an LG as well uh pricing were you done with Asus oh only thing I have to say about that is pricing still up in the air but expect it to be pretty damn pricey yeah uh because there's a lot of tech in that thing 11 1200 that's that's my random guess yeah all right so the next one the one I was supposed to talk about first but I didn't uh which I'll talk about now is the LG uh 27in 4K free sync IPS monitor for which does have a price tag attached to it of $5.99 so much cheaper than the Asus but we're talking quite a bit of differences here it's not 21 by uh 9 it's 16x9 4K pretty standard 3840 by 2160 now I I'll say right out of the gate here 4k on a 27 in a bit small is a bit small but uh I don't know Windows 10 is supposed to do a lot of stuff like good stuff for like uh scaling of of of UI and that sort of thing especially for like going from 1080 to 4K so maybe that make better and and you know there's there's probably a handful of people out there that wouldn't mind using their monitors like when they're doing day-to-day task web browsing at like 2560 by 1440 for example and just have the option to play their games at 4K yes um there's always that so that is possible uh there's some flexibility there uh again you get free Sync It's amd's version of g-sync it's their variable refresh rate uh so you get some pretty smooth gameplay however it's only 60 HZ um again with gsync like Paul was saying similar thing with free sync it is going to be pretty damn smooth still but true enthusiasts might want to go further than that um you know especially if they have multiple cards in there that they can actually push the frame rate above 60 at 4K even uh they might want to be able to take advantage of more advantage of of that horsepower that's interesting and also I mean 60 HZ would be the max I would wonder what the range would be um that's been also one of the shortcomings of the freesync monitor so far has been when you get the when you get down below like 30 FPS um and what it does but uh that's still pretty nice so you can get that for 600 yeah I mean it's it's pretty darn cheap for a 4k monitor especially you throwing in free sync in there it's uh and I IPS and it's IPS so I think all around a good deal yes if you don't mind some of the the other shortcomings 5 millisecond response time things like that um and let's just move on to the next thing I got a couple more here I want to I want to point out some to somebody in chat mentioning I am not drunk I am jet lagged like and anyway moving on yeah he really doesn't even need the beer it's just for Taste at this point it's not even to like the beer helps take the edge off the beer makes me feel better it gives him Second Wind all right so we're are we moving on to the next moving on to the next one all right uh this was also at uh unveiled at computex um on day four this is biostar and their new gaming motherboard for Skylake uh at first I was like oh this this is a first but it's not there's actually a biostar made a gaming motherboard last year I think for z97 yeah uh which I didn't I don't remember the reviews on it if it was well received or not um but they're coming out with another one for Skylake so it's going to get it's going to have the um got some plastic molding on there what's what's the damn it's a z z170 chipset of course yeah uh for the fifth gen Intel CPUs it's got It's got cool things like m.2 SATA Express USB 3.1 type-c which is something I never thought I'd see on a biostar board um it's also got an interesting touch panel I only read this in the article I didn't watch the whole video through it's 2 minutes that's just clearly too long to watch for my attention span I'm going to skip through it right now skip through it see if you can find this I don't know if they showed it off but there's a touch panel on the motherboard to turn it on or off as well as for overclocking which I didn't know what they meant by that like is it like a capacit oh there it is there it is okay that's that's kind of cool that's interesting I wonder not a touch P those they're they look like capactive just those little surfacey buttons I don't know so I forget that's that's a good question are they like capacitive or like or are they do they just have buttons underneath that you still have to apply the pressure and there's like a mechanical switch under there um but you know biostar trying to break into that higher end gaming market for motherboards um it's got 14 phase power design it's got three pcie x16 slots three PCI you buy one slots HDMI and DBI output 8 channel audio and it releases in August for about 220 bones so 220 220 hm yeah that is that is a higher range for biostar yeah um yeah I mean the weird thing about what we're seeing right now with all these uh the z170 boards is that we still don't know the like we don't know all the detailed specs for the Skylake chips yet right um that has not been revealed so it's not clear like how many pcie lanes are going to be there yeah I'm hoping they go above 16 MH but some of the layouts I've seen on a lot of the motherboards at computex I was like I was like you got three m.2 slots in between three PCI Express x16 slots there's no way you're going to be able to do like a two or threeway SLI configuration and you know and use all the m.2 at once you can only pick one at a time it's going to be a tradeoff or something like that but cat I don't know I mean they can use they can use uh switches and that sort of thing I'm seeing 20 lanes in chat 20 lanes is better than 16 I'll say um but sure still no 5960x but it will still give enthusiasts the abil ability to say haha I have many more that mean depending what yeah I don't know what do you think of the aesthetic uh it's not bad I mean I'll say the green is subtle enough to be subtle is that green yeah I mean there's some there's a little bit of green like it's military it's like the very dark military green on the um on the dim slots and I think the top PCI slot okay that that makes more sense cuz I thought it was brown it's not gy that's like yeah I think what mother a lot of motherboard manufacturers are figuring out is like just don't make it GTI don't make some like big impression like design thing that people have to base their entire system around make it able to blend in with a lot of other color schemes cuz you know people don't want to base their whole system on a motherboard a lot of the time that's like the opposite of msi's theology with their uh their crazy RGB was it no it's not RGB but their LED like is Godlike it is okay that thing is nuts it's it's it's epic it is I mean if you're going for that kind of blink it's red and black I was like they got to make a blackout version of it make a blackout version with RGB you can change the color to match whatever the hell you want that's why I thought it was an RGB cuz what's the point of having all those colors because they dance around and and and it's it's a light show and you know systems well systems that are built and have that and they got a bunch of LEDs I mean they have a certain appeal it's never anything that I would like run in my computer in my room or living room or something like that but you know they're they're showy or whatever can never have your PC on while you sleep yeah but um I mean that's that's I I got to say design wise not not bad by biostar there um you know it's yeah I'll be interesting it'll be interesting to see the reviews on this board to see how well it overclocks and you know if there's any stability issues or anything like that because if not that's that's a huge step in the right direction yeah cool moving on to the next one uh this is kind of a biggie uh this wasn't any computex hype or anything like that but it was announced just the the other day valve Steam Machines I'm I'm sure you've all heard by now are slated for release November 10th steams yeah Steam Machines yeah yeah yeah so there's been um there was kind of a false start initially with steam machines a bunch of Manufacturers hopped on board and then it got pushed back so it's finally looking like it's going to be coming out soon and they got the steam controller finally worked out yep they got a steam controller um so you guys all know what steam machines are right they're basically living room targeted gaming PCs running Linux uh and they they're supposed to kick ass and Play Steam games all day long yeah it's like a Linux core with the steam UI slapped on top of it pretty much um and so far the the two vendors that have stepped up to create the first seam machines available are our favorite vendor Alienware and the folks at cyber cyber spelled with an S and A Y cyber cyber what yeah I'm not too familiar with them uh familiar with Alienware however and they're planning on releasing one unit uh that's going to be able to stream games at 1080p using uh core Intel processor they haven't revealed which one nor have they revealed which GTX uh card it'll be using but it will have 2 gig frame buffer okay um assuming most people are using 1080 uh 1080 HD TVs um you don't need too much Hardware packed in there a mid-range uh mid-range components should do the trick quite nicely uh and it's going to be retailing M SRP for $449 which I think is a pretty pretty good sweet spot uh for a mid-range option in the living room yeah midrange and is wait does that come with the controller no it doesn't nope I I mean it didn't say if it did or not we have a price in the controller has that been Yes actually uh if you go to the um our our our Google doc there's also a link in there for the steam controller I don't want to go to the Google Doc you love Google Docs stupid uh also cyber is offering up three different machines from 500 to, 1500 bucks about, 1500 and that's going to be more tailored for 4 gig four wow Politically Incorrect there's no such thing as forgay gaming um I'm just on a roll last week I called Ed from Sapphire beef what I like well beef's computer looks I was trying to say Ed's Ed's Graphics card is pretty beefy and instead I said beef's I said beef's card is pretty I almost said Eddie and I me and Matt lost it on stream that's terrible be but yeah anyway all right glad nobody noticed though anyway 4K gaming is what uh these higher-end cyber offerings are going to be really tailored for um and you'll be able to use straight up off-the-shelf uh PC parts to upgrade it so you could install like a gtx980 in there if you wanted to um which is kind of cool there was no mention of that kind of uh upgradeability option for the Alienware system I we all know Alienware as being kind of proprietary and L like that but uh cyber at least is offering the option to uh go in there and swap things out but let's move on to the steam controller cuz I think this might even be more appealing than the Steam Machines themselves right here it's be it's going to be uh$ 39.99 uh pound yeah so I think that in England that's not what that means Paul okay you it's designed in England yes no what okay manufactur getting off getting off topic here but uh the steam controller I I think I calculated 39 British pounds to be about 60 bucks in in real money okay um that was a bad joke uh and I think that's pretty fair that's what you pretty much get an Xbox One controller for these days I think yeah go ahead and trust but verify go ahead and uh verify that do 39 yeah it's about 60 bucks 6154 right now right so you can pre-order the steam controller as well it's uh if you look at the design it's very similar to that of an Xbox One controller um you got to read about this disclaimer here wait Paul come come back come back to us something about bonds getting off task data is provided by Financial exchanges and may be delayed as specified by Financial give 20 minutes guys Paul's going to take a quick power nap we'll be right back uh super refreshed there all right I fixed it we've lost all control um okay speaking of control this controller talking controller um steam controllers yeah it's it's very unique in9 LB why are you still stuck on the pounds thing how much is that in give it a rest we we just looked it up I'm taking your beer no can I have a sip of it oh yeah if you want to try I have a sip of your no more beer for you what you you've been cut off are you serious yes you know not cutting off my beer drink my coffee that's pretty good actually well done guide the liqu store um okay so now that we've touchdown back to reality steam steam controller yes thought you were going to like say something useful no just I'm just trying to maintain focus at this point Kyle steam controller right baby steps one thing at a time all right so you guys might have noticed this looks pretty different than any other controller uh in terms of like really distinguished uh distinguishable features like the the left d-pad on the left uh the left d-pad and the trackpad on the right instead of a joystick which um I'm really curious to see how that actually functions uh and how precise it is uh in the little trailer that they that they revealed of it um valve claims that the that the the touchpad the trackpad I don't know what the hell they call it is kind of a halfway point between a joystick and like the comfort of a joystick but the Precision of a mouse I don't know if the the mouse claim is is accurate I want to see how precise exactly it is uh it even shows typing if you just yeah like see I had that queued up for you you're you're on it you're doing fantastic stop criticizing me so that makes it easier to type things uh if you want to browse the web or whatever with it um again people mostly in the living room will be interested in in this controller as opposed to people who just are comfortable gaming on their desktops um chances are if you do use a controller for for PC gaming you probably already have an Xbox uh Xbox 360 controller um and I I think they just relas I have several Xbox 360 controllers but if you've been wanting to upgrade to an Xbox One controller stay tuned for Paul's half of the show I think he's going to be giving you some cool information on that um also about the uh the steam controller they have dual Triggers on the back uh which are both analog and digital so you've got the analog um digilog digilog or anodal anodal anal okay anal so uh basically the way it works is you like it has the full range full analog range and then at the very end when you fully pull the trigger it uh offers a digital click oh so you can configure that any way you want and this thing is fully customizable if you want the reload button to be you know the joystick pressing in or whatever I think you can do that um so I think it was Ryan shroud whoever someone at PC perspective uh who was talking about this article said if you wanted to somehow configure it so that um like holding down the right Trigger or like pressing the right trigger pulls up your iron sights like let's say you're in a first- person shooter uh do pull pull on the right trigger a little bit pulls up your iron sights but then actually pressing it down all the way causes you to shoot or allows you to to fire um or if it was like you know accelerate when you're in a racing Sim with the trigger and then doing that digital click initiating that digital click actually uh creates like a turbo or something like that so there's a lot of different ways you can kind of I don't know customize the the button layout to your needs you also see like you see the grip like where you're where you're ring finger and your your pinky would go in that in that picture that's actually a button no down pinky so I pretend like you're yeah that that that's a button there's two buttons there I think um and you can so basically a good application for this would be if you wanted to configure that to be your reload button you'd actually never have to take your thumb off of the trackpad you could still move around while reloading instead of having to you know stop moving or stop uh looking around and hitting the reload button on a or X the X buttons uh on the face of the controller so it just it just gives you more flexibility um and more efficiency I guess with your with your gaming but remains to be seeing how this all comes together and works out in the end I'll try one out you'll try one out I I may or may not pre-order I don't know I don't have a we don't have contacts at steam it's too bad we can't just call them up and be like hey I I make videos I we could do that they would they would just wouldn't listen to us no they would they'd be like do you have a problem with your account sir and i''d be like no I make videos and send me free and they'd be like okay uh I'm sorry we can't do that for you sir or that's as far as the simulation is going and then your your rebuttal to that would be steam controller and then they'd probably give you one that might convince them all right but uh let us know in the chat what you think of the steam controller you guys already have uh let us know if you're excited to see it to play with it to use it to be it no scratch that last one uh but moving on to our last bit for hot and heavy Hardware this what what are you doing there was another thing I should have gone over to to for the steam controller but I never did well it's too late for that Paul it is too late that's all right there was just two other pictures and I've just shown them the people so looks like I've made up for my shortcoming okay all right let's talk about Corsair unleashing the bulldog right DIY 4K gaming PC this article from an Anand this is an Anand detch uh thank you Anand detch and all the folks there um did you happen to see this at compex while you were there if you can remember okay good I indeed I did okay the memor coming back in person I have some video of it nice I haven't uploaded yet okay can do that soon does it suck uh it's larger than expected how big it's like Yay big wi really yeah it's pretty it's pretty subst wow but it's like you can fit granted it's a minx board but you can fit two water cooled cooling systems in there like all in one so you can have a water cooled GPU and a water cooled CPU right and they have a pretty cool little special unit in there to water cool the uh the CPU unit and the GPU you can use with their their new Jeep I forget what the h10 no 105 bracket hg10 hg10 that can go on there so I mean yeah you can fit a a whole double water cooled system in there which is kind of cool seems like they're really focused on performance Above All Else uh in a relatively small form factor so would you say this is like for 4K gaming in the living room yeah so I mean for the for the size I would say you'd better be putting some decently high-end Hardware in there because if you're not there's probably other cases that are a bit smaller the other thing about it is that if you look at the like the line on it and the color it's it's fairly angular and aggressive you know it looks like an Rog product or something like that it does yeah and some people that might be a little bit much for the living room depending on how your living room setup is set up right do you know if it can it stand horizontally it doesn't look like you can I don't think so I feel like that was a really bad move not allowing that feature just because if it's going to be in the living room sometimes you want more vertical space or you're more limited on your horizontal space but you know you can put it right next to your TV and stand it up straight and that usually works out pretty nicely so I'm actually really surprised that they didn't offer that feature uh it comes with a nice little power supply and they they're selling this little power supply separately too it's a gold uh uh shoot SS s sfx power supp um 600 watt 80 plus gold rated so pretty much good enough to run anything you know do you know if it's oh it's fully modular that's nice it's fully modular it's black and white the oh so here's that special little CPU Cooler system okay um it's got like a blower style fan yeah it's a blower style fan and it's meant to just kind of hover just right above the CPU so um I thought that little guy was was kind of a unique little design I don't know it wouldn't really apply to other systems besides the Bulldog maybe some other small form factor systems oh wow yeah um it could work in but yeah you can see it like 150 watt TDP mhm uh cools internal components just because probably it's so close right on top of the uh motherboard VM and stuff like that and then there's hd10 so I think you also okay you also use an h55 cooler in tandem with their liquid cooling bracket yeah cuz the bracket's not terribly the bracket's like what 30 bucks or 40 bucks or something like that right okay um and you don't have to use an hg10 you can or the h55 you can use another as long as it's got the a tech based cooler with that bracket on it I think it works with that anyway cool uh I don't think and and I don't know if they that is a final a final version it that might be subject to change uh the way it looks or you know depending on user feedback they might go back to the drawing board a little bit with the design I'm not sure yeah that one I don't recall but looks like a very Niche product very interesting yet very Niche product uh that will only appeal to the few uh few folks out there that maybe have 4K TVs in their living room which if you have that hate you yeah but I mean you also just mentioned the steam you know the steam box is finally coming out and once that's finalized there is probably maybe going to be more of a demand for higher-end gaming systems in the living room as it becomes more accessible to do PC gaming and especially if this is like in the shorter term versus longer term where the consoles really can't handle that kind of gaming at all then yeah I think you're going to see people looking for that type of configuration but yeah yeah would you say it's about as big as an Xbox One is larger oh really is yeah it's definitely bigger than Xbox one I that might be a deal breaker for me just personally but yeah well I mean there's also going to be a lot of competition in this space for having small form factor systems yeah like that they can the fractal node 202 I think would be a great that was that was an interesting little system for that but uh okay that that pretty much does it for hot and heavy Hardware guys thank you for tuning in for that uh we're going to switch gears here and move on to our next segment like I said only got three of them uh because they're going to be a little bit lengthier this time around but uh the next one as always it's the ever joyous pit my PC oh just timing on that woo I I was you see how I was stalling a little bit little me find it it's there's a grid we're team and I had to locate it on the grid all right so I'm also trying to queue up these pictures here you're doing great so for those of you AR that aren't familiar this is our blatant ripoff segment from Matt Philly's uh Pimp My up show which you can find on youtube.com/ swashing TV he started the whole pit my thing apart from MTV doing pit my ride first uh and then we copied him he invented the Pimp My Everything series the original pimp he's the the OG pimp yes uh we are the Imposter pimps but yet we still do a pretty good show here so we're going to be taking a look at your Rigs and Paul and I um probably more more myself today since Paul's a little out of order I will very thorough and ful commentary on all of the systems all the systems need a steam controller how much is that steam controller going to cost anyway uh okay we'll have to wait for that one Paul um but let's uh just take a look at our first I don't want to say contestant contestants they're not competing for anything uh our first system from Kent this one's from chent Ken chent Ken Kent how how did you get chent K because his last name is Chen but still why' did you add a t on the end of it and why' you put it first before Kent are you reading backwards now and adding letters to things look if I if something occurs to me controllers and it sounds funny then there's a decent chance that I'm going to say it out loud so you just have no filter right now you don't Poss you don't know what to okay that's I'm doing my best okay it's good to know yes you are you're doing great circumstances it's hot in here by the way oh sorry no it's okay it's not your fault it's just your house that we're in that hot as balls weird weird weather in California yesterday it was 100 degrees over 100 yeah today it's a little bit cooler but it rained this morning it's like California is trying to recreate the the uh at the climate that I had in Taiwan just as if to welcome me back um trying no and I will not go to bed I'm staying I still have my half of the show to do I agree with with you is I agree with you intrud all right so let's talk about this system K Kent uh Kent Chen has a uh I5 2500k yeah I I also picked this one not only because it was a good picture and there were some things I wanted to say about it but because look at all the work he put into it like go back to that picture he like labeled all the main components in his system nice of him I like being able to see what's there yeah very very thoughtful I can see the effort that you put in apprciate I like that yeah that's that's really nice of course he could be totally full 2 it's actually a 2 and half in Drive mechanical but um now is that cooler does not seem to have an active fan on it right it's on the bottom oh it's on the bottom oh you're right yeah I totally didn't even see that Paul is now starting to lose his sense of vision well I wasn't looking for it there I was looking at at it on the left or right it's an odd configuration I want to know what cooler that is I don't know because it looks it's freaking beefy as hell big with many aluminums fins many aluminums the aluminums the aluminums they're strong with this one okay so um first thing that struck me about this case or this this build I should say um is I mean first of all it's really clean looking the cable management is actually pretty spot-on I like how you zip tied the pcie cables um all the cables are going into the correct grommets that they should they are none of the cables are like running too long visibly they're going straight into the grommets um I think you could probably lower that that uh 840 uh probably 840 Evo down with your two terab hard drive and take out that Top Drive cage yes you could uh CU you've got a nice big 200 mm fan there up front you're in the 600t case um so just open that baby up and just let some pour some air flow into your video card uh by removing that top top Drive cage I think that would look nicely uh that would look nice uh ALS Al you've got a bit of a theme going on here I can tell because you went out of your way to buy a Corsair AF fan and you put the blue one on it tells me you want to match you want some blue stuff you got some blue LEDs in there blue LEDs I like the blue LEDs they look pretty clean and it matches the wind Force LED which it does is somewhat difficult to do now that that's CU it's a what is it a z77 is that Asus z77 this he's he's got a z 68 board oh was it z68 yeah I think so cuz he said he had a 20 20 2500k Believe It or Not Kyle 2500k is also compatible with z77 I know it is but I used to have that motherboard in fact that's the first motherboard I ever bought which was z68 it's an Asus z68 V Pro I believe okay see see hey doesn't make me wrong with what I said no no does not we are both correct yeah good I'm glad glad I'm just corrector you're you're the corrector I said erect in that word correct correct okay uh but if you really want to get super matchy matchy you could swap out that power supply with uh something more neutral either something that's just like black and white or even that something that has some blue on it like the core Corsair what is it the HX series I know that's pretty old but they're still pretty rocking um thermal take take they've been in the news a lot lately Jelly D says it looks like a syy mugan 2 syy mugan what's a oh the uh you can't get those anymore that yeah that's true uh that is a pretty beefy cooler but yeah um by the way that thermal take power supply I think I think they totally ripped off this other power supply that looks just like that it's like it's like square and it's got cables coming out of it and it creates power it creates it even creates power like the similarities are uncanny it doesn't technically create power it more like filter distri filters power yes anyway overall I don't have too much else to say about this thing it looks pretty clean man well done Kent it's also very I mean this like I said I used to have that motherboard except I had a 2600k and I built in a 600t for my first build ever this looks a lot like my first build you're saying he copied you he he copied me because I used to have a computer and my computer also had cables in it and and fans and the fans he's using the same he's using the same method to push air through the system you know I bet they're 120 mm they were I I retract my statement Kent horrible of you you should feel ashamed all right there's uh than for Kent Brockman excellent job on that build man don't you dare thermal take me all right now moving on to David David let's talk about D David Bob Man David Oh wrong button David B uh okay we've got another David bobman has fx8320 overclocked to 4.5 I'm going to guess it's 4.5 GHz DAV Bob DAV Bob B DAV Bob dve Bob man that's his Twitter handles Davey bobman yeah 4.5 gigahertz which yeah if you running an A320 or any of those you should over be overclocking uh GTX 770 it's a Define R4 as he already confirmed okay all right uh first off I think your your computer overall is a bit squished squished I think you just need to stretch it out just a little bit what what do you mean squished I mean you know just everything looks a little compressed in like he just needs to widen it more or less oh well honestly I think that might be a little compression on the photo or something like that cuz the NXT that should be a circle and it looks a little bit more like vertically ovular yes I was actually more of an oblate spheroid I I was joking and referring to the uh the aspect ratio of the picture so you were actually making a joke there or did you just realized this I was making a joke I had not looked at this picture prior you had so I'm not accusing anyone of anything good just just covering my ass we can just Agree to Agree any we in agreement all right all right so again with the blue and white theme although the power the PCI cables aren't matching at all they're not doing it for me um replace the Reds get some white ones actually get some black ones CU it'll match your ATX 24 pin cable I for like like do you ever feel like tell me if you agree with this like the ATX 24 pin cable and the PCI cables are they're like a belt and shoes they should match yes they should match they should match more or less whether do the exact same color like like in fashion how you can go against fashion someone oh this is being recorded so we're good you can right yes because you know you know there's rules with fashion but if you do it right you can break the rules I would say you doesn't always have to match and there's ways that you could get around yeah just as a general rule of as a general rule of finish that thought you finished it and part of are there is there more than one picture here this one picture just the only one this is I like how you're taking advantage of the Define R4 by sticking a radiator in there yeah I think you do have a lot more room though for Push Pull there so I don't know but I mean push pull for what reason more air flow to the video card to the other components possibly looks cooler uh with the array of fans in this system I guarantee there's no problem with any with with temperatures for any these unless you're going crazy but if you make it look cool I think adding some fans in there would make it just makes it a bit more might make it look a little bit cooler little cooler but don't do it because you think it's going to massively increase your cooling because it's not it'll just massively increase your cooling Factor yes how cool it is cool they're saying that they're saying that it sounds like you're sharting by the way oh sorry also being recorded in in the chat I uh I do this weird throat clearing thing I remember the first time I ever did it when we were working at newag it was like I'm used to it now when Anna like like our editor old editor at New Egg she had only been working there for a week and she heard me do it for the first time and she was like are you okay and I was like I didn't even notice I cleared my throat and I was like what do you mean she's like are you about to throw up and I was like no yeah so I don't know why I do it it's just sometimes it's force of habit it's probably see people didn't notice it before cuz we were using a mic in front of us now that we have labs and it's right here it is directly on top of where the noise yeah exactly it's like resting just beneath my Adams Apple so all I'll try not to do it as much guys I'm not doing it to freak you out forgive me sorry to distract the people were were asking for an explanation yeah so thank you for that David B David Bob man Dave uh next up who do we got de o this is an interesting Silverstone case with a flipped motherboard this is by uh don't blink don't blink or a lonely blue box on Twitter uh he says not long till a full system rebuild same case insides all he's going to so he's going to replace everything that's going on inside here cool now now this is inverse droppage this is the first recorded instance of inverse droppage that we have seen on on the show my PC on on awesome Hardware so that's don't blink thank you for introducing us to some inverse droppage now this I don't know what I don't know the name of this case tj8 e I think it is okay I've built in this before you have built in this MH it's an inverted it's a Micro ATX Micro ATX he got a Min a mini ITX in there so that's why it looks so uh all right so don't blink when you replace this get a microatx board mhm I agree get one don't use Mini ITX or I'll fart in your ear because I feel like if you're going to use Mini ITX you need to be building small like yeah that's why the larger Mini ITX cases I always look at I'm like why why is it like that right like take something like the mini D Frame from inwin it's like why did you do that yeah it's so it's so large for a mini ITX but that means it it does look actually there was a pink Hello Kitty mod and one of those that was really cool at computex but that's coming in one of my future videos inverse droppage yes manik um the graphics card in there is upside down but it's still drooping but in the other way that we usually see it since the since it's a flipped design case yeah um the other problem with having a mini ITX uh board in this system is like you notice like his 24 pin cable and like all that stuff is just kind of dragged along the bottom of the case and it's taking a really long time to get around to back there if you had a Micro ATX board it your cables would just automatically be a bit closer to that routing area and it wouldn't look so damn messy um it'd be a lot easier for routing and stuff also I think the CPU Cooler probably if you can turn that 90° guarantee you yeah is it because it's AMD it's because I think of the motherboard and the CPU placement on the motherboard oh yeah I just mean if he gets a Micro ATX board in the future if you got a Micro ATX board he he's is probably fine but um this is a problem with a lot of the Mini ITX boards that have come out and I don't know exactly which one this is but a lot of them had the CPU socket placement just way too close to the the ram no the video C the video card slot PCI Express slot so um yeah force uh that's probably the only way that he can have that that cooler because that's I think that's a hyper 212 looks like it but yeah get a Micro ATX board rewire everything and and turn your your cooler sideways once you get to micro microatx board if you're going to raise that cooler and it'll be much better but yeah we need an update on this in the future I think yep all right thanks for sending that in lonely blue box thanks don't blink moving along to Sergeant ballis next up is Sergeant ballistic all right this is Brian big old Brian system right here he's got a nice looking uh see there's there's just so many wrong things about this has a name Kyle what is what's this named it's a project arashikage I'm probably butchering that arish kg arish kg no I don't know how to it's arak it's project arak Japanese so I want to say it's you got to add you got to add a an O at the end all right let's just make our own anim maybe we should just show people what the hell this case yeah sorry Sergeant ballistic Brian Bri Brian has effectively renamed his case Brian like me got the uh the Sabertooth uh Blanco sa Branco Blanco sa Branco the sa Bronco it's not called the sa Bronco Mark s Sabertooth z97 Mark s right yes that's right is it okay uh yeah he like me was infatuated with that but he took it a step further and actually went and bought one yeah um I like no I don't I don't even think I even ever asked for one but uh yeah it's a very nice board and I believe that was kind of the the the impetus for this whole build so he got the white Define R5 and that's a Newton th watt Newton I think yep for the power supply probably the best looking white power supply you can find too and what is he using right now 980 looks like a 980 yeah it's a 980 from EVGA for the wind version mhm um shameful shameful stock CPU Cooler but he's the memory no no that was in that only in that other picture the memory matches that board perfectly uh yeah beautiful memory is that from a vexer I think I think so I also guys I have a bunch of CES CES I have a bunch of coputex stuff that I still am doing so I hope you guys don't get too bored bored of it but I have some really cool footage of a vexer um yeah sorry but yeah enax uh the white version of the TF I can't remember any of the tster yeah the twister twist or something yeah oh yeah that looks really clean man um I just love how the the board almost Blends into the background of the case yes um and it almost makes it look more like one piece I don't know it looks like it's congealing very nicely uh I love the cooler on there I would say your cable Management's awesome but you don't really any cables plugged into the power supply well I guess you do you have a couple there what guess he does really oh the power supply well why is it plugged in up here um I think I think he's planning on sleeving I have the same issue with my Newton right now I need to sleeve it yeah I mean if you sleeve the cables in this thing um make it black and white and maybe I think black and white just go black and white maybe add some maybe you don't even need to add gray in there there's not really any gray in the the rest of the case other than the video card maybe but um yeah some black and white sleeved cables there uh remove that Top Drive cage open up some air flow jeez I think I think you're pretty set man looks pretty good I think so too yep well done I'm glad to see it coming along nicely so beautiful work all right um the Ry roll sends in his picture of his rig all right we got a i74790k gtx970 Define our f MH uh he's admitting right up front that the cables are a mess yep so clean up your cables clean your C cables Ry roll clean that let me click on this so we can see I like how you remove the middle Drive cage since you don't need it 550 wat power supply 550 watt for I mean you're okay you're fine with you're fine yeah you're fine um it's just you don't have a whole lot of head room um but I mean unless you're dropping another graphics card in there you're okay right uh what is that CPU Cooler that looks like an EO yeah I would guess Neo Neo the heat sink um got the ssds mounted on the back see now me just this just my personal taste but it's because when I have everything installed I like to be able to see all the hardware like especially if it's a side window um yeah uh I take my ssds and I put them in the drive cage is here yeah I think I would that's just so I can be like look and there's my ssds you can see them here in this picture and there's nothing wrong with mounting them behind the motherboard at all but um I agree it kind of looks a little empty in the drive cage to see only one drive in there I would I would throw them up there show them off a little bit more and you're not even going to hurt yourself as far as cabling uh cabling yeah you can still write ride them right back there and and you know they're not going to be hot or anything like that right uh speaking of cabling I think it could be tidied up quite a bit uh especially with the uh the pcie cable I mean you've you've opted for one of those pcie cables that has two connectors on the end of it so you only really have one cable that you have to deal with so it makes uh routing that much easier but I think you've um routed it to the very bottom grommet near the power supply when I I would actually suggest routing it to the The Grommet just behind the video card itself the the obvious choice I would think because it's just the closest grommet uh to your card um to that P so yeah do that because it looks like it's just traveling too far of a distance and it draws the eye to that part of your case first um it could be very distracting and then my eyes start following oh where's this cable leading it's like a it's like an arrow in a way um aesthetically speaking uh apart from that color coordination very fun very fun got to avoid the arrow though ketchup and mustard cables you guys know how I feel about those hate them yeah yeah um get rid of those trim trim the little yellow tag off of your the cable that yeah that that yellow tag is the cable coming from the fan on the hyper 212 or the Evo or whatever it is just trim it off I know it says don't trim it off or I don't know it's just something just trim it off yeah get it you're never going to need that there and that's never going to help you right and I even really doubt oh is the audio okay yeah the audio is fine yeah what's wrong with your audio what are you talking about ble I see levels right here I hope the audio is still fine um all right are we is that is that all for this one all right R roll thanks for sending that in man all right next up we've got Henrik henrique Olivier is henrique hen Rizzle henrique now he says he's thinking about adding a custom Loop but other than that he thinks it's perfect I I think he might be pulling our leg here a little troll little bit of trolly but there are plenty of uh ways he can improve this system first off by dusting it no okay okay okay okay this is this is a very outdated system and there's nothing wrong with having a very outdated system but let's just be succinct here watch your video that you just did about your neighbor's computer yeah and do that here yeah and that's all pretty much don't go anything beyond that don't spend any money on this don't try to anything you know sleeved cables would really make this system shine don't add an SSD don't do anything save and buy a new computer but I honestly this this is mostly a troll thing Kyle why did you chose choose this I cuz it's funny cuz it's funny it's funny feeding the trolls feeding them henrique they got to eat hen Rizzle gota eat them trolls all right thank you henrique Tony dios Tony this is one of our last ones here he built this for his dad's birthday that's very endearing happy Birthday Dad uh you're good son um um but your cable management is in need of help it's not terrible it's not terrible actually I mean I've seen worse but yeah I have two but um uh you take all right the D the the add-on card that's up above the the graphics card move all the way down to the bottom yeah move that down to the bottom because you have some cables coming off that but it'll be a lot easier to tuck those away just just rot them down with your power supply cables mhm uh it will also remove that from being directly above the graphics card which isn't necessarily going to be the best spot for it um I mean the only advantage to having it up there is it's probably only using a single by one slot which is probably all it's designed for right and yes maybe efficiency wise that's okay but you're not going to lose anything by moving that all the way down to the bot can you I he doesn't say what video card that is but I hope it's a 960 yeah I mean you got a CX 430 if it's a if it's a 980 God help you and get a better power supply yeah but if it's a 960 you're okay it's not a 970 cuz 970 evj are blue how large can you make this enhance it's a 780 or 7 700 series oh it's a 700 series okay as long as it's not a 780 yeah yeah don't yeah I mean it's cx430 is a solid power supply so it's probably fine yeah I just hope you're not overclocking on that yeah just just check the TDP of your card and make sure that you're that would definitely be the thing I would upgrade on here though might be the power supply yeah yeah cuz I mean what if he's got a if he's got a 240 or was that a 280 liquid cooler on there he's probably doing some overclocking I would hope so which means if you're overclocking your CPU chances are you're just cool with overclocking in general you might be overclocking your video card as well if that's the case 430 is not going to cut it I'm sorry I would also move hold on there's a sled up here there might all right there's either a front panel thing or something going on in this top five and a quar inch Bay but I might move might move that optical drive I don't know there's not a whole lot you can do about I would want it on the top but you probably can't put it on the top cuz something else is there people are saying it might be a GTX 750 Ti super super clock yeah that would make sense then you're probably okay yeah oh then you then you have head room oh super cookie said it's a g3258 so you're okay then then I hope that was a I hope that yeah that cooler came for free it was a leftover or some heavy duty cooling for a G for that processor yeah cuz it's a dual core that cooler costs more than the processor and that's usually against the rules it looks like it could be like a something from an older build or something like that yeah yeah maybe for Reaper do he said it's for his dad so yeah I mean overclocking at g3258 is a very good idea so you do want some some decent cooling on there right but um it's hardcore yeah hardcore cooling all right thank you uh thank you Cookie appreciate that Tony indeed um and I think that pretty much wraps it up I just wanted to give an honorable mention to uh buddy Edgar what yeah but whatever you posted whatever you put in your thing doesn't work doesn't it was it wasn't pulling up yeah the page does not exist okay for some reason I I was it was going to show off a pretty pretty rig uh has excellent Cable Management some nice um little bit of nice paint job and stuff but uh the link isn't working so I'll save it for next week okay that's going to wrap it up for pimp my PC thank you guys so much uh for uh sending in those pictures really appreciate checking them out and I think on that note we're going to move to news move to news you're already over an hour I'm already over an hour so let's just fly through these we're going to fly CU I want to be respectful of everyone's time here so first off the developers uh indie game developers in particular have been hit pretty hard recently uh with uh steam's new refund policy which basically says that any gamer can refund their game at any time or not at any time but uh for any reason basically as long as they've they haven't put in over two hours of gameplay into that particular game you can just refund it full full full full money back guarantee uh as long as it's I believe they said this a hexus.net article by the way yeah right hexus thank you hexus uh can't be more than 6 months since you bought the game in order for you to do it the problem with this and why it's hurting developers is because a lot of these Indie Games can be beat in under two hours so you've essentially got penny pinching steam users that are buying these indie games playing them all the way through under two hours and then returning them bastards bastards uh they they've even outlined some examples in this article uh Beyond Gra which is a really simple well-received platformer has sold 18 copies in the last 3 days but 13 of which were refunded that's insane um so also revenge of the Titans suffering from a 55% refund rate RPG Tycoon as well as Octodad very popular indie game have been hit with uh 30% refunds which is insane um and a lot of these refunds are from purchases 5 months prior to the refund which is it's just crazy people are just trying to get you know their money back even though they enjoy the game I mean to me a refund is I thought this game was a certain way I thought I was going to enjoy it and I absolutely hate it fell so short of expect exactly and I it was a bad purchase if you got a kick out of the game you enjoyed it you know and you didn't you didn't think it was horrible then just keep the game support the developer if you want them to keep making good games otherwise this is just unacceptable I think 55% refund rate return that's just you can't make a living like that so I I have to assume that that that most people watching our show wouldn't wouldn't do that sort of thing if you know because I personally feel if you especially with a game especially with an independent game like you know these people don't really sell a lot so you know every every little bit helps so yeah I mean if you buy a game and you play it and even if you beat it and it was an hour I mean if it costs a few bucks or something like that like you shouldn't do that but um yeah I don't is is has there been any response from Steam like or valve are they going to step in and uh it's probably too early to tell but uh hasn't they haven't really come out and spoken about it yet too freely um but yeah I just think what what Paul said all right so don't do that people don't do that if you have uh next up the 390x is has been confirmed as being a rebranded Hawaii GPU hey a lot of this a lot of us saw this coming um there was actually a a box picture of a detail box that had been leaked it was an XFX power I'm sorry video card of the R9 390x and the bo making power supplies you're right and on the box it said uh advertised 8 gab of gddr5 yes as we all know the uh the Fiji cards using the Fiji gpus will not be using gddr5 they'll be using hbm uh AMD is the first one to take advantage of that with their with their Flagship cards so that tells us pretty much all the Flagship 300 series cards are going to be rebranded Hawaii gpus which uh which is what the 290x for example was using so this is kind of I don't know unfortunate news to people who might have been uh expecting to buy into a new line of of architecture um with with a 300 series but on the bright side you might get some cheaper prices that way and we're going to be talking about that right right now now yes because there was also there's just a bunch of leaks that have been happening with the 300 series in particular including prices so we've got a full list just go ahead scroll down Paul until you hit the prices here they are most notably the 390x at 8 gab of uh gddr5 enhc 389 bucks so what does that tell you about that price I think maybe that the performance is closer to a 970 a GTX 970 yes yeah well yeah I mean a a 290x will beats a 970 not always but it can but if you add eight gigs then it certainly makes it much stronger at higher resolutions yeah um assuming that Hawaii enhanced Hawaii XT has been refined and that maybe they can run at higher clock speeds and everything shipping both of those cards with eight G gigs makes it pretty compelling um yeah 389 would tell me that it will it will beat a 970 like across the board yeah and not be to 980 which is kind of expected already yep uh a 398 gig for 330 is kind of meant to be like hey for 330 bucks you could get a 970 with three and a half gigs or you can get an8 gig uh exactly 390 that's that's kind of fun right um and then even down at the lower ends like the uh the pit Karen and the Tonga Pro granted those are slightly older um as far as like when those actual uh gpus came out yeah but the prices come down so far on them compared to what they were originally um I mean a pit Caren that was what was that originally yet the 78 7850 or 7950 or 7870 I can't even remember but yeah it escapes me now but yeah I mean AMD is doing what they've done before which is they're re they're they're shuffling this all around they're rebadging some cards but ultimately it's going to shake out that the cards are going to match up to beat um Nvidia and hopefully put a little bit more pressure on them in the lower end right and then the other news that um I believe is the next story yeah so so that's that gives you a little bit of an idea of what to expect with the 300 series but what about the the actual Fiji gpus that uh that amd's been raving about that most people are awaiting um they have been officially named the uh Fury and the fury x video cards those are the uh The Branding names the marketing branding names using the Fiji uh Pro and the Fiji XT gpus respectively uh among among the two of those options um and there's a bunch of specs that were revealed for it pretty much every spec all the important ones were were pretty much leaked if you scroll down I think they're there so people can see them all these yeah um so the fury X is going to come in a few different versions there's a water cooled version and an air cooled version yeah the fury is air cooled only um and the idea here is that AMD is taking these cards and since I mean I have to assume that this is based on the performance and based on also pushing the launch dates back because we're We've been supposed to seeing these for quite a few months now right um that they've managed to get these to the point where it's going to be a serious Challenger to like a 980 TI or a Titan X and hopefully that's the case yeah um because these are using some pretty nextg crazy stuff like the uh hbm high band high bandwidth memory right that we've talked about before it sits on the same little substrat or using the wrong word there but um to connect very very closely to the GPU itself yeah but uh 496 stream processors on the fury X it's got twice twice the number of RS as the 290x yeah uh pretty sweet gcn compute Unix so these come in clusters and then there's 64 I think there's 6 I forget how many uh stream processors there I need if you divide this by this it will tell you so uh yeah GPU frequency 1,50 MHz uh the memory is what's crazy to look at it's only going to be only 4 gigs but it's so freaking fast M um look at that interface that's what makes up for it so 490 bit 496 bit interface and I believe this is going to sit on four different packages that connect at 1024 each so it's 1024 by4 and that's how they get to 496 memory frequency also seems like it's lower at 500 MHz but again because it's that hbm and because it has such a wide interface you get an effective uh much greater throughput so a gigabit per second effective memory speed but uh 52 gabes per second memory bandwidth and that's as compared to the uh 290x over here which had 320 yep so they uh they did the math here at uh wccf Tech and and they concluded that the that the uh the Fiji Flagship Fiji is 54% faster than the 290x but um if you see there that the power efficiency is is just ridiculous because you're only taking up about 10 watts additional 10 watts over the 290x to get 54% the performance um which makes the card which makes the uh the fury X 48% more efficient than the 290x and that's been that's been somewhere that AMD has been lagging behind Nvidia exactly and something that nvidia's been able to kind of hold over AMD is like well even if you can get a little bit more performance for even the same price or a few less dollars going with AMD over Nvidia your power bill is going to pay for it because a lot of them are much higher TDP cards like a 970 is for example yep but um so they're finally catching up to speed there in that realm and then lastly the thing I want to talk about were leaked benchmarks uh for the Fury X um this was from who tweak Town yeah I think so uh basically these are opencl benchmarks there's no real like hard gaming benchmarks except one uh which was in uh Manhattan Benchmark in gfx bench uh but I'll get to that in a bit so you'll see the first one was the ocean surface simulation the r9280x well actually yeah basically you've got the uh the fury x beating out Titan X AMD radon Graphics it's confusing now with like X like the X moniker or whatever being added on the end of all these Flagship cards like could could there's 26 letters in the alphabet why did AMD have to go with Fury X like the Titan X oh God tweak town oh Jesus really tweak Town don't do that ever again this makes me not want to go to tweak town when that happens bunch of tweakers over there um so it outperformed the titanex in that first test the second one it didn't didn't do very well which was face detection so face detection not very good for the for the Furious that's just fun which I don't know I'm not too familiar with with these tests to be honest um but they're all open CL um and then in the last one the tbl1 optical flow test the fury X wins again uh but this time by a smaller margin than it did with the first test um with the titanex trailing behind very closely um the the One gaming Benchmark that they did uh specify in this article the fury X got 102 frames per second on the Manhattan Benchmark in a gfx bench with the titanex bearing about or beating it with about 137 FPS so quite a landslide for the Titan X in raw gaming performance but then again we're I'm not expecting the the the Titan ah the fury X that X card to be priced nearly as high as a Titan X yeah I think we're going to see lower performance but lower price as well with with the fury X um with about the same like uh efficiency and stuff like that so cool there you go there you go yeah still very early and we also have to imagine that um drivers drivers are yep insanely uh immature at this point exactly that could uh tip the scales one way or the other but that is going to do it for this half of the show guys uh thank you so much for uh tuning in but don't go anywhere because we've got section or part two coming up right now on Paul's half of the show where he's going to be talking about more stuff and I think you're feeling you're getting alert right you're starting to feel pumped and no okay who are you I'm it's okay it's okay Paul I'm I'm here I'm your friend oh don't don't beat me I have more beer you no Jesus uh on that note we should probably take a quick breather we're going to take like I don't know two to three minutes to take a quick bathroom break and Paul's you're going to take a going to unfortunately drink some more beer uh before we go live again so thanks for watching guys stay tuned we'll be right back it's going to be fantastic yepI can never open a beer sneakily it's always makes that jingly jangly sound we're live hello we should be live how's it going everyone welcome to awesome Hardware episode 16 six did we update the uh the twitch I did oh good Paul's on it I'm somehow on top of that despite being severely wait wait no I'm not on top of that I spoke too soon uh but despite being severely jetlagged after a long trip in Taiwan and other places uh in Asia for computex and things like that Paul is finally back so everyone give him a warm welcome in chat hi everyone welcome back Paul thank you I see you survived thank you for having me here just barely your house looks different my we're we're at your house Paul so maybe he hasn't fully recovered quite yet but he is at least well enough to to uh carry on with the show today I'm supplementing my alertness with coffee there you go coffee and then you're going to cancel it out with some beer might as well be drinking like an old school for Loco it's the circle of life yeah before they got banned uh but we have a good show for you guys today um starting off with my half of the show we're going to do some a couple segments I've got three good segments for you guys lined up today and then we're going to switch gears to Paul's half of the show I have segments too where he's got segments we've both got pretty hefty segments if you know what I mean so uh I guess first off let's um let's let's do some announcements cuz there are things to be announced uh yeah we should announce things so I think you've got a few of them right I I was going to say happy birthday to Coconut monkey oh that's uh Jay's riding buddy yeah yeah it's his birthdayy birthday I don't know I I I mean unless people are just jokingly sending him happy birthday messages cuz Jay's been known to do that before this is true but I I think that's legit so happy birthday yeah coconut monkey um what else what else we have uh oh yeah I don't know something check it out can't really think about oh oh look at that look at that right there you got you got glasses and mugs uh mugs and glasses which are now also conveniently I should remember how to work on Paul's hardware. uh see my store has not only shirts and stuff like that uh but also you can go up here and click on glasswar now I know fancy look at that and making me feel like poor people having sht on my store there's there's the the English pint glass right here which is more than a regular pint glass it's like a pint glass with extra uh and then there's also the mugs they have my new logo on them this will soon be updated on my actual Channel and all that good stuff but uh yeah check those out if you're interested of course Kyle has a store too where you can buy shirts and and and other inferior products other products that yes I do notice a problem with this glass though Paul what what's wrong with the glass it's kind of hard to see the logo so I think that means we just need to fill it up with beer should we should do that yes that would be good let's let's do that now let's crack crack her open I uh crack to you guys follow me on like Twitter and and uh Instagram and stuff you probably saw a picture of this ridiculous liquor store that I found down the street uh they sell tons of good craft beer for pretty decent prices so uh I stopped there on the way to Paul's house today and picked me up a Hyperion vanilla Stout from Elsa gundo Brewing Company I've had this once before and I never saw it again so I got it because it's delicious it's it's so good well that that sounds delicious and El s gundo yes which is Spanish for the second yeah I knew that I I'm guessing that's what it means I think that's wrong uh I have a Kyle picked me up a beer because I didn't have any left here this is a double double nut brown so Kyle brought me over a little double nut I heard you like the double nut uh a big brown Porter this is by Mammoth Brewing Company from Mammoth Lakes California oh I've actually I've actually had some of there beer before yeah it's not too far from here um further up north I asked I asked the guy what what a good brown ale was and he said do you want a nut once or twice and I was like double nut for sure of course and he pointed me in the direction of that fine beverage beautiful Over Yonder so uh yeah see I think the logo is looking a lot nicer now yeah it stands out a bit shining through with the with the beer and the glass and uh cheers cheers cheers to all you guys thanks for joining us today mhm mhm that's that's delicious all right good guy was right pardon me what what are we what's going on uh so I if you guys couldn't tell I'm I'm sort of uh I guess responsible for Paul in this episode and making sure that he stays awake and alert and he doesn't um that he doesn't pass out basically so let's just jump right into it then uh because if we linger too long Paul's just going to wipe out and he's gonna his head's going to hit the keyboard and it's going to mess up the stream I I got back be back the day before yesterday and I'd normally be fine but for some reason when you come back from Asia to California at least in my experience it's like right at this time of day that it hits you at least for the first few days right after you get back it's like 4:35 3 630 time frame you just like suddenly feel like I've been up for two days or something yeah anyway but I'm good no I'm perfectly fine yeah you sound you sound chipper you sound absolutely pumped I sound great all right so let's just uh use that right there to lead into our first segment of the day oh we got segments and we got lower thirds yeah it's hot and heavy Hardware I felt it only appropriate to go with a segment like this just coming right out of computex uh in Taiwan and um I think some of the things I have on this list were actually shown off at some of them were some of them I did not even see so it's almost like it's even news to me I I did as much as I could there but I did not see everything there's there's a lot of stuff to see it's hard for one man to see it all you need several Tech tubers to cover everything but um so hopefully you guys happen to I'm sure a lot of you guys have seen this stuff already as well whether it was at the event yourself but more likely through other articles and and uh other Tech tubers and stuff but I just wanted to touch on some of the highlights for me anyway PC perspective article here yep PC perspective uh talking about the Asus 3800r uh beautiful monitor this was all the rage at computex oh Asus oh I'm sorry well we got both of them I I switched over the uh the switch to order what do you want first as let's do the Asus first Asus first yeah 3,800 R 34 ultrawide 34 by 3 you say the words and handing off to Kyle uh it's the Asus 3800r 34in ultrawide 3440 by1 1440 IPS 21 by9 curved g-sync monitor o nice so uh they're really going with abbreviations here trying to shorten down names to make them easier to remember and of course that's not the full name of it that's just uh the tagline to to hook you uh that that PC per has used and it's true although I mean you pretty much get most of the specs in that headline alone which are quite impressive um and also look at that stand the stand of that model is is just is kind of nice um it's strikingly modern looks at least got height tilt and swivel yeah it does but I wouldn't expect pivot with a curved mon monitor that'd be weird indeed but uh this this is actually um the one thing that was left in mystery was the actual refresh rate um um but considering that it's using uh ulmb or ultra low motion blur yes um typically monitors with that feature GN panels only um are typically rated at anywhere from 60 to 75 and up uh Hertz uh refresh rate so you could guess or estimate or hypothesize that this is a higher um than average refresh rate monitor I could see them shooting for 75 with something like this yeah yeah I mean that'd be good and honestly 75 would G think is is very nice oh yeah absolutely uh so let's let's have our fingers crossed for that uh you also notice how thin the freaking bezel is I mean you almost have to say what bezel um I can't see they've gone the extra mile to make it super thin I think if you click it it might enlarge but uh it's just incredibly thin which makes it great for a complete surround like triple monitor setup if you want to uh get three of those bad boys in a row of course Al be it for the bottom uh bezel which is a bit thicker to land that Asus branding right there but altogether a beautiful beautiful monitor even the back has like that crazy design on it which yeah it's very kind of I hate I hate to say Transformers is that's that's terrible but well this this monitor was built by Michael Bay so uh it yeah after three months it explodes don't don't give him credit for this design all right I won't all right but um that's pretty cool yeah um there's an LG as well there's an LG as well uh pricing were you done with Asus oh only thing I have to say about that is pricing still up in the air but expect it to be pretty damn pricey yeah uh because there's a lot of tech in that thing 11 1200 that's that's my random guess yeah all right so the next one the one I was supposed to talk about first but I didn't uh which I'll talk about now is the LG uh 27in 4K free sync IPS monitor for which does have a price tag attached to it of $5.99 so much cheaper than the Asus but we're talking quite a bit of differences here it's not 21 by uh 9 it's 16x9 4K pretty standard 3840 by 2160 now I I'll say right out of the gate here 4k on a 27 in a bit small is a bit small but uh I don't know Windows 10 is supposed to do a lot of stuff like good stuff for like uh scaling of of of UI and that sort of thing especially for like going from 1080 to 4K so maybe that make better and and you know there's there's probably a handful of people out there that wouldn't mind using their monitors like when they're doing day-to-day task web browsing at like 2560 by 1440 for example and just have the option to play their games at 4K yes um there's always that so that is possible uh there's some flexibility there uh again you get free Sync It's amd's version of g-sync it's their variable refresh rate uh so you get some pretty smooth gameplay however it's only 60 HZ um again with gsync like Paul was saying similar thing with free sync it is going to be pretty damn smooth still but true enthusiasts might want to go further than that um you know especially if they have multiple cards in there that they can actually push the frame rate above 60 at 4K even uh they might want to be able to take advantage of more advantage of of that horsepower that's interesting and also I mean 60 HZ would be the max I would wonder what the range would be um that's been also one of the shortcomings of the freesync monitor so far has been when you get the when you get down below like 30 FPS um and what it does but uh that's still pretty nice so you can get that for 600 yeah I mean it's it's pretty darn cheap for a 4k monitor especially you throwing in free sync in there it's uh and I IPS and it's IPS so I think all around a good deal yes if you don't mind some of the the other shortcomings 5 millisecond response time things like that um and let's just move on to the next thing I got a couple more here I want to I want to point out some to somebody in chat mentioning I am not drunk I am jet lagged like and anyway moving on yeah he really doesn't even need the beer it's just for Taste at this point it's not even to like the beer helps take the edge off the beer makes me feel better it gives him Second Wind all right so we're are we moving on to the next moving on to the next one all right uh this was also at uh unveiled at computex um on day four this is biostar and their new gaming motherboard for Skylake uh at first I was like oh this this is a first but it's not there's actually a biostar made a gaming motherboard last year I think for z97 yeah uh which I didn't I don't remember the reviews on it if it was well received or not um but they're coming out with another one for Skylake so it's going to get it's going to have the um got some plastic molding on there what's what's the damn it's a z z170 chipset of course yeah uh for the fifth gen Intel CPUs it's got It's got cool things like m.2 SATA Express USB 3.1 type-c which is something I never thought I'd see on a biostar board um it's also got an interesting touch panel I only read this in the article I didn't watch the whole video through it's 2 minutes that's just clearly too long to watch for my attention span I'm going to skip through it right now skip through it see if you can find this I don't know if they showed it off but there's a touch panel on the motherboard to turn it on or off as well as for overclocking which I didn't know what they meant by that like is it like a capacit oh there it is there it is okay that's that's kind of cool that's interesting I wonder not a touch P those they're they look like capactive just those little surfacey buttons I don't know so I forget that's that's a good question are they like capacitive or like or are they do they just have buttons underneath that you still have to apply the pressure and there's like a mechanical switch under there um but you know biostar trying to break into that higher end gaming market for motherboards um it's got 14 phase power design it's got three pcie x16 slots three PCI you buy one slots HDMI and DBI output 8 channel audio and it releases in August for about 220 bones so 220 220 hm yeah that is that is a higher range for biostar yeah um yeah I mean the weird thing about what we're seeing right now with all these uh the z170 boards is that we still don't know the like we don't know all the detailed specs for the Skylake chips yet right um that has not been revealed so it's not clear like how many pcie lanes are going to be there yeah I'm hoping they go above 16 MH but some of the layouts I've seen on a lot of the motherboards at computex I was like I was like you got three m.2 slots in between three PCI Express x16 slots there's no way you're going to be able to do like a two or threeway SLI configuration and you know and use all the m.2 at once you can only pick one at a time it's going to be a tradeoff or something like that but cat I don't know I mean they can use they can use uh switches and that sort of thing I'm seeing 20 lanes in chat 20 lanes is better than 16 I'll say um but sure still no 5960x but it will still give enthusiasts the abil ability to say haha I have many more that mean depending what yeah I don't know what do you think of the aesthetic uh it's not bad I mean I'll say the green is subtle enough to be subtle is that green yeah I mean there's some there's a little bit of green like it's military it's like the very dark military green on the um on the dim slots and I think the top PCI slot okay that that makes more sense cuz I thought it was brown it's not gy that's like yeah I think what mother a lot of motherboard manufacturers are figuring out is like just don't make it GTI don't make some like big impression like design thing that people have to base their entire system around make it able to blend in with a lot of other color schemes cuz you know people don't want to base their whole system on a motherboard a lot of the time that's like the opposite of msi's theology with their uh their crazy RGB was it no it's not RGB but their LED like is Godlike it is okay that thing is nuts it's it's it's epic it is I mean if you're going for that kind of blink it's red and black I was like they got to make a blackout version of it make a blackout version with RGB you can change the color to match whatever the hell you want that's why I thought it was an RGB cuz what's the point of having all those colors because they dance around and and and it's it's a light show and you know systems well systems that are built and have that and they got a bunch of LEDs I mean they have a certain appeal it's never anything that I would like run in my computer in my room or living room or something like that but you know they're they're showy or whatever can never have your PC on while you sleep yeah but um I mean that's that's I I got to say design wise not not bad by biostar there um you know it's yeah I'll be interesting it'll be interesting to see the reviews on this board to see how well it overclocks and you know if there's any stability issues or anything like that because if not that's that's a huge step in the right direction yeah cool moving on to the next one uh this is kind of a biggie uh this wasn't any computex hype or anything like that but it was announced just the the other day valve Steam Machines I'm I'm sure you've all heard by now are slated for release November 10th steams yeah Steam Machines yeah yeah yeah so there's been um there was kind of a false start initially with steam machines a bunch of Manufacturers hopped on board and then it got pushed back so it's finally looking like it's going to be coming out soon and they got the steam controller finally worked out yep they got a steam controller um so you guys all know what steam machines are right they're basically living room targeted gaming PCs running Linux uh and they they're supposed to kick ass and Play Steam games all day long yeah it's like a Linux core with the steam UI slapped on top of it pretty much um and so far the the two vendors that have stepped up to create the first seam machines available are our favorite vendor Alienware and the folks at cyber cyber spelled with an S and A Y cyber cyber what yeah I'm not too familiar with them uh familiar with Alienware however and they're planning on releasing one unit uh that's going to be able to stream games at 1080p using uh core Intel processor they haven't revealed which one nor have they revealed which GTX uh card it'll be using but it will have 2 gig frame buffer okay um assuming most people are using 1080 uh 1080 HD TVs um you don't need too much Hardware packed in there a mid-range uh mid-range components should do the trick quite nicely uh and it's going to be retailing M SRP for $449 which I think is a pretty pretty good sweet spot uh for a mid-range option in the living room yeah midrange and is wait does that come with the controller no it doesn't nope I I mean it didn't say if it did or not we have a price in the controller has that been Yes actually uh if you go to the um our our our Google doc there's also a link in there for the steam controller I don't want to go to the Google Doc you love Google Docs stupid uh also cyber is offering up three different machines from 500 to, 1500 bucks about, 1500 and that's going to be more tailored for 4 gig four wow Politically Incorrect there's no such thing as forgay gaming um I'm just on a roll last week I called Ed from Sapphire beef what I like well beef's computer looks I was trying to say Ed's Ed's Graphics card is pretty beefy and instead I said beef's I said beef's card is pretty I almost said Eddie and I me and Matt lost it on stream that's terrible be but yeah anyway all right glad nobody noticed though anyway 4K gaming is what uh these higher-end cyber offerings are going to be really tailored for um and you'll be able to use straight up off-the-shelf uh PC parts to upgrade it so you could install like a gtx980 in there if you wanted to um which is kind of cool there was no mention of that kind of uh upgradeability option for the Alienware system I we all know Alienware as being kind of proprietary and L like that but uh cyber at least is offering the option to uh go in there and swap things out but let's move on to the steam controller cuz I think this might even be more appealing than the Steam Machines themselves right here it's be it's going to be uh$ 39.99 uh pound yeah so I think that in England that's not what that means Paul okay you it's designed in England yes no what okay manufactur getting off getting off topic here but uh the steam controller I I think I calculated 39 British pounds to be about 60 bucks in in real money okay um that was a bad joke uh and I think that's pretty fair that's what you pretty much get an Xbox One controller for these days I think yeah go ahead and trust but verify go ahead and uh verify that do 39 yeah it's about 60 bucks 6154 right now right so you can pre-order the steam controller as well it's uh if you look at the design it's very similar to that of an Xbox One controller um you got to read about this disclaimer here wait Paul come come back come back to us something about bonds getting off task data is provided by Financial exchanges and may be delayed as specified by Financial give 20 minutes guys Paul's going to take a quick power nap we'll be right back uh super refreshed there all right I fixed it we've lost all control um okay speaking of control this controller talking controller um steam controllers yeah it's it's very unique in9 LB why are you still stuck on the pounds thing how much is that in give it a rest we we just looked it up I'm taking your beer no can I have a sip of it oh yeah if you want to try I have a sip of your no more beer for you what you you've been cut off are you serious yes you know not cutting off my beer drink my coffee that's pretty good actually well done guide the liqu store um okay so now that we've touchdown back to reality steam steam controller yes thought you were going to like say something useful no just I'm just trying to maintain focus at this point Kyle steam controller right baby steps one thing at a time all right so you guys might have noticed this looks pretty different than any other controller uh in terms of like really distinguished uh distinguishable features like the the left d-pad on the left uh the left d-pad and the trackpad on the right instead of a joystick which um I'm really curious to see how that actually functions uh and how precise it is uh in the little trailer that they that they revealed of it um valve claims that the that the the touchpad the trackpad I don't know what the hell they call it is kind of a halfway point between a joystick and like the comfort of a joystick but the Precision of a mouse I don't know if the the mouse claim is is accurate I want to see how precise exactly it is uh it even shows typing if you just yeah like see I had that queued up for you you're you're on it you're doing fantastic stop criticizing me so that makes it easier to type things uh if you want to browse the web or whatever with it um again people mostly in the living room will be interested in in this controller as opposed to people who just are comfortable gaming on their desktops um chances are if you do use a controller for for PC gaming you probably already have an Xbox uh Xbox 360 controller um and I I think they just relas I have several Xbox 360 controllers but if you've been wanting to upgrade to an Xbox One controller stay tuned for Paul's half of the show I think he's going to be giving you some cool information on that um also about the uh the steam controller they have dual Triggers on the back uh which are both analog and digital so you've got the analog um digilog digilog or anodal anodal anal okay anal so uh basically the way it works is you like it has the full range full analog range and then at the very end when you fully pull the trigger it uh offers a digital click oh so you can configure that any way you want and this thing is fully customizable if you want the reload button to be you know the joystick pressing in or whatever I think you can do that um so I think it was Ryan shroud whoever someone at PC perspective uh who was talking about this article said if you wanted to somehow configure it so that um like holding down the right Trigger or like pressing the right trigger pulls up your iron sights like let's say you're in a first- person shooter uh do pull pull on the right trigger a little bit pulls up your iron sights but then actually pressing it down all the way causes you to shoot or allows you to to fire um or if it was like you know accelerate when you're in a racing Sim with the trigger and then doing that digital click initiating that digital click actually uh creates like a turbo or something like that so there's a lot of different ways you can kind of I don't know customize the the button layout to your needs you also see like you see the grip like where you're where you're ring finger and your your pinky would go in that in that picture that's actually a button no down pinky so I pretend like you're yeah that that that's a button there's two buttons there I think um and you can so basically a good application for this would be if you wanted to configure that to be your reload button you'd actually never have to take your thumb off of the trackpad you could still move around while reloading instead of having to you know stop moving or stop uh looking around and hitting the reload button on a or X the X buttons uh on the face of the controller so it just it just gives you more flexibility um and more efficiency I guess with your with your gaming but remains to be seeing how this all comes together and works out in the end I'll try one out you'll try one out I I may or may not pre-order I don't know I don't have a we don't have contacts at steam it's too bad we can't just call them up and be like hey I I make videos I we could do that they would they would just wouldn't listen to us no they would they'd be like do you have a problem with your account sir and i''d be like no I make videos and send me free and they'd be like okay uh I'm sorry we can't do that for you sir or that's as far as the simulation is going and then your your rebuttal to that would be steam controller and then they'd probably give you one that might convince them all right but uh let us know in the chat what you think of the steam controller you guys already have uh let us know if you're excited to see it to play with it to use it to be it no scratch that last one uh but moving on to our last bit for hot and heavy Hardware this what what are you doing there was another thing I should have gone over to to for the steam controller but I never did well it's too late for that Paul it is too late that's all right there was just two other pictures and I've just shown them the people so looks like I've made up for my shortcoming okay all right let's talk about Corsair unleashing the bulldog right DIY 4K gaming PC this article from an Anand this is an Anand detch uh thank you Anand detch and all the folks there um did you happen to see this at compex while you were there if you can remember okay good I indeed I did okay the memor coming back in person I have some video of it nice I haven't uploaded yet okay can do that soon does it suck uh it's larger than expected how big it's like Yay big wi really yeah it's pretty it's pretty subst wow but it's like you can fit granted it's a minx board but you can fit two water cooled cooling systems in there like all in one so you can have a water cooled GPU and a water cooled CPU right and they have a pretty cool little special unit in there to water cool the uh the CPU unit and the GPU you can use with their their new Jeep I forget what the h10 no 105 bracket hg10 hg10 that can go on there so I mean yeah you can fit a a whole double water cooled system in there which is kind of cool seems like they're really focused on performance Above All Else uh in a relatively small form factor so would you say this is like for 4K gaming in the living room yeah so I mean for the for the size I would say you'd better be putting some decently high-end Hardware in there because if you're not there's probably other cases that are a bit smaller the other thing about it is that if you look at the like the line on it and the color it's it's fairly angular and aggressive you know it looks like an Rog product or something like that it does yeah and some people that might be a little bit much for the living room depending on how your living room setup is set up right do you know if it can it stand horizontally it doesn't look like you can I don't think so I feel like that was a really bad move not allowing that feature just because if it's going to be in the living room sometimes you want more vertical space or you're more limited on your horizontal space but you know you can put it right next to your TV and stand it up straight and that usually works out pretty nicely so I'm actually really surprised that they didn't offer that feature uh it comes with a nice little power supply and they they're selling this little power supply separately too it's a gold uh uh shoot SS s sfx power supp um 600 watt 80 plus gold rated so pretty much good enough to run anything you know do you know if it's oh it's fully modular that's nice it's fully modular it's black and white the oh so here's that special little CPU Cooler system okay um it's got like a blower style fan yeah it's a blower style fan and it's meant to just kind of hover just right above the CPU so um I thought that little guy was was kind of a unique little design I don't know it wouldn't really apply to other systems besides the Bulldog maybe some other small form factor systems oh wow yeah um it could work in but yeah you can see it like 150 watt TDP mhm uh cools internal components just because probably it's so close right on top of the uh motherboard VM and stuff like that and then there's hd10 so I think you also okay you also use an h55 cooler in tandem with their liquid cooling bracket yeah cuz the bracket's not terribly the bracket's like what 30 bucks or 40 bucks or something like that right okay um and you don't have to use an hg10 you can or the h55 you can use another as long as it's got the a tech based cooler with that bracket on it I think it works with that anyway cool uh I don't think and and I don't know if they that is a final a final version it that might be subject to change uh the way it looks or you know depending on user feedback they might go back to the drawing board a little bit with the design I'm not sure yeah that one I don't recall but looks like a very Niche product very interesting yet very Niche product uh that will only appeal to the few uh few folks out there that maybe have 4K TVs in their living room which if you have that hate you yeah but I mean you also just mentioned the steam you know the steam box is finally coming out and once that's finalized there is probably maybe going to be more of a demand for higher-end gaming systems in the living room as it becomes more accessible to do PC gaming and especially if this is like in the shorter term versus longer term where the consoles really can't handle that kind of gaming at all then yeah I think you're going to see people looking for that type of configuration but yeah yeah would you say it's about as big as an Xbox One is larger oh really is yeah it's definitely bigger than Xbox one I that might be a deal breaker for me just personally but yeah well I mean there's also going to be a lot of competition in this space for having small form factor systems yeah like that they can the fractal node 202 I think would be a great that was that was an interesting little system for that but uh okay that that pretty much does it for hot and heavy Hardware guys thank you for tuning in for that uh we're going to switch gears here and move on to our next segment like I said only got three of them uh because they're going to be a little bit lengthier this time around but uh the next one as always it's the ever joyous pit my PC oh just timing on that woo I I was you see how I was stalling a little bit little me find it it's there's a grid we're team and I had to locate it on the grid all right so I'm also trying to queue up these pictures here you're doing great so for those of you AR that aren't familiar this is our blatant ripoff segment from Matt Philly's uh Pimp My up show which you can find on youtube.com/ swashing TV he started the whole pit my thing apart from MTV doing pit my ride first uh and then we copied him he invented the Pimp My Everything series the original pimp he's the the OG pimp yes uh we are the Imposter pimps but yet we still do a pretty good show here so we're going to be taking a look at your Rigs and Paul and I um probably more more myself today since Paul's a little out of order I will very thorough and ful commentary on all of the systems all the systems need a steam controller how much is that steam controller going to cost anyway uh okay we'll have to wait for that one Paul um but let's uh just take a look at our first I don't want to say contestant contestants they're not competing for anything uh our first system from Kent this one's from chent Ken chent Ken Kent how how did you get chent K because his last name is Chen but still why' did you add a t on the end of it and why' you put it first before Kent are you reading backwards now and adding letters to things look if I if something occurs to me controllers and it sounds funny then there's a decent chance that I'm going to say it out loud so you just have no filter right now you don't Poss you don't know what to okay that's I'm doing my best okay it's good to know yes you are you're doing great circumstances it's hot in here by the way oh sorry no it's okay it's not your fault it's just your house that we're in that hot as balls weird weird weather in California yesterday it was 100 degrees over 100 yeah today it's a little bit cooler but it rained this morning it's like California is trying to recreate the the uh at the climate that I had in Taiwan just as if to welcome me back um trying no and I will not go to bed I'm staying I still have my half of the show to do I agree with with you is I agree with you intrud all right so let's talk about this system K Kent uh Kent Chen has a uh I5 2500k yeah I I also picked this one not only because it was a good picture and there were some things I wanted to say about it but because look at all the work he put into it like go back to that picture he like labeled all the main components in his system nice of him I like being able to see what's there yeah very very thoughtful I can see the effort that you put in apprciate I like that yeah that's that's really nice of course he could be totally full 2 it's actually a 2 and half in Drive mechanical but um now is that cooler does not seem to have an active fan on it right it's on the bottom oh it's on the bottom oh you're right yeah I totally didn't even see that Paul is now starting to lose his sense of vision well I wasn't looking for it there I was looking at at it on the left or right it's an odd configuration I want to know what cooler that is I don't know because it looks it's freaking beefy as hell big with many aluminums fins many aluminums the aluminums the aluminums they're strong with this one okay so um first thing that struck me about this case or this this build I should say um is I mean first of all it's really clean looking the cable management is actually pretty spot-on I like how you zip tied the pcie cables um all the cables are going into the correct grommets that they should they are none of the cables are like running too long visibly they're going straight into the grommets um I think you could probably lower that that uh 840 uh probably 840 Evo down with your two terab hard drive and take out that Top Drive cage yes you could uh CU you've got a nice big 200 mm fan there up front you're in the 600t case um so just open that baby up and just let some pour some air flow into your video card uh by removing that top top Drive cage I think that would look nicely uh that would look nice uh ALS Al you've got a bit of a theme going on here I can tell because you went out of your way to buy a Corsair AF fan and you put the blue one on it tells me you want to match you want some blue stuff you got some blue LEDs in there blue LEDs I like the blue LEDs they look pretty clean and it matches the wind Force LED which it does is somewhat difficult to do now that that's CU it's a what is it a z77 is that Asus z77 this he's he's got a z 68 board oh was it z68 yeah I think so cuz he said he had a 20 20 2500k Believe It or Not Kyle 2500k is also compatible with z77 I know it is but I used to have that motherboard in fact that's the first motherboard I ever bought which was z68 it's an Asus z68 V Pro I believe okay see see hey doesn't make me wrong with what I said no no does not we are both correct yeah good I'm glad glad I'm just corrector you're you're the corrector I said erect in that word correct correct okay uh but if you really want to get super matchy matchy you could swap out that power supply with uh something more neutral either something that's just like black and white or even that something that has some blue on it like the core Corsair what is it the HX series I know that's pretty old but they're still pretty rocking um thermal take take they've been in the news a lot lately Jelly D says it looks like a syy mugan 2 syy mugan what's a oh the uh you can't get those anymore that yeah that's true uh that is a pretty beefy cooler but yeah um by the way that thermal take power supply I think I think they totally ripped off this other power supply that looks just like that it's like it's like square and it's got cables coming out of it and it creates power it creates it even creates power like the similarities are uncanny it doesn't technically create power it more like filter distri filters power yes anyway overall I don't have too much else to say about this thing it looks pretty clean man well done Kent it's also very I mean this like I said I used to have that motherboard except I had a 2600k and I built in a 600t for my first build ever this looks a lot like my first build you're saying he copied you he he copied me because I used to have a computer and my computer also had cables in it and and fans and the fans he's using the same he's using the same method to push air through the system you know I bet they're 120 mm they were I I retract my statement Kent horrible of you you should feel ashamed all right there's uh than for Kent Brockman excellent job on that build man don't you dare thermal take me all right now moving on to David David let's talk about D David Bob Man David Oh wrong button David B uh okay we've got another David bobman has fx8320 overclocked to 4.5 I'm going to guess it's 4.5 GHz DAV Bob DAV Bob B DAV Bob dve Bob man that's his Twitter handles Davey bobman yeah 4.5 gigahertz which yeah if you running an A320 or any of those you should over be overclocking uh GTX 770 it's a Define R4 as he already confirmed okay all right uh first off I think your your computer overall is a bit squished squished I think you just need to stretch it out just a little bit what what do you mean squished I mean you know just everything looks a little compressed in like he just needs to widen it more or less oh well honestly I think that might be a little compression on the photo or something like that cuz the NXT that should be a circle and it looks a little bit more like vertically ovular yes I was actually more of an oblate spheroid I I was joking and referring to the uh the aspect ratio of the picture so you were actually making a joke there or did you just realized this I was making a joke I had not looked at this picture prior you had so I'm not accusing anyone of anything good just just covering my ass we can just Agree to Agree any we in agreement all right all right so again with the blue and white theme although the power the PCI cables aren't matching at all they're not doing it for me um replace the Reds get some white ones actually get some black ones CU it'll match your ATX 24 pin cable I for like like do you ever feel like tell me if you agree with this like the ATX 24 pin cable and the PCI cables are they're like a belt and shoes they should match yes they should match they should match more or less whether do the exact same color like like in fashion how you can go against fashion someone oh this is being recorded so we're good you can right yes because you know you know there's rules with fashion but if you do it right you can break the rules I would say you doesn't always have to match and there's ways that you could get around yeah just as a general rule of as a general rule of finish that thought you finished it and part of are there is there more than one picture here this one picture just the only one this is I like how you're taking advantage of the Define R4 by sticking a radiator in there yeah I think you do have a lot more room though for Push Pull there so I don't know but I mean push pull for what reason more air flow to the video card to the other components possibly looks cooler uh with the array of fans in this system I guarantee there's no problem with any with with temperatures for any these unless you're going crazy but if you make it look cool I think adding some fans in there would make it just makes it a bit more might make it look a little bit cooler little cooler but don't do it because you think it's going to massively increase your cooling because it's not it'll just massively increase your cooling Factor yes how cool it is cool they're saying that they're saying that it sounds like you're sharting by the way oh sorry also being recorded in in the chat I uh I do this weird throat clearing thing I remember the first time I ever did it when we were working at newag it was like I'm used to it now when Anna like like our editor old editor at New Egg she had only been working there for a week and she heard me do it for the first time and she was like are you okay and I was like I didn't even notice I cleared my throat and I was like what do you mean she's like are you about to throw up and I was like no yeah so I don't know why I do it it's just sometimes it's force of habit it's probably see people didn't notice it before cuz we were using a mic in front of us now that we have labs and it's right here it is directly on top of where the noise yeah exactly it's like resting just beneath my Adams Apple so all I'll try not to do it as much guys I'm not doing it to freak you out forgive me sorry to distract the people were were asking for an explanation yeah so thank you for that David B David Bob man Dave uh next up who do we got de o this is an interesting Silverstone case with a flipped motherboard this is by uh don't blink don't blink or a lonely blue box on Twitter uh he says not long till a full system rebuild same case insides all he's going to so he's going to replace everything that's going on inside here cool now now this is inverse droppage this is the first recorded instance of inverse droppage that we have seen on on the show my PC on on awesome Hardware so that's don't blink thank you for introducing us to some inverse droppage now this I don't know what I don't know the name of this case tj8 e I think it is okay I've built in this before you have built in this MH it's an inverted it's a Micro ATX Micro ATX he got a Min a mini ITX in there so that's why it looks so uh all right so don't blink when you replace this get a microatx board mhm I agree get one don't use Mini ITX or I'll fart in your ear because I feel like if you're going to use Mini ITX you need to be building small like yeah that's why the larger Mini ITX cases I always look at I'm like why why is it like that right like take something like the mini D Frame from inwin it's like why did you do that yeah it's so it's so large for a mini ITX but that means it it does look actually there was a pink Hello Kitty mod and one of those that was really cool at computex but that's coming in one of my future videos inverse droppage yes manik um the graphics card in there is upside down but it's still drooping but in the other way that we usually see it since the since it's a flipped design case yeah um the other problem with having a mini ITX uh board in this system is like you notice like his 24 pin cable and like all that stuff is just kind of dragged along the bottom of the case and it's taking a really long time to get around to back there if you had a Micro ATX board it your cables would just automatically be a bit closer to that routing area and it wouldn't look so damn messy um it'd be a lot easier for routing and stuff also I think the CPU Cooler probably if you can turn that 90° guarantee you yeah is it because it's AMD it's because I think of the motherboard and the CPU placement on the motherboard oh yeah I just mean if he gets a Micro ATX board in the future if you got a Micro ATX board he he's is probably fine but um this is a problem with a lot of the Mini ITX boards that have come out and I don't know exactly which one this is but a lot of them had the CPU socket placement just way too close to the the ram no the video C the video card slot PCI Express slot so um yeah force uh that's probably the only way that he can have that that cooler because that's I think that's a hyper 212 looks like it but yeah get a Micro ATX board rewire everything and and turn your your cooler sideways once you get to micro microatx board if you're going to raise that cooler and it'll be much better but yeah we need an update on this in the future I think yep all right thanks for sending that in lonely blue box thanks don't blink moving along to Sergeant ballis next up is Sergeant ballistic all right this is Brian big old Brian system right here he's got a nice looking uh see there's there's just so many wrong things about this has a name Kyle what is what's this named it's a project arashikage I'm probably butchering that arish kg arish kg no I don't know how to it's arak it's project arak Japanese so I want to say it's you got to add you got to add a an O at the end all right let's just make our own anim maybe we should just show people what the hell this case yeah sorry Sergeant ballistic Brian Bri Brian has effectively renamed his case Brian like me got the uh the Sabertooth uh Blanco sa Branco Blanco sa Branco the sa Bronco it's not called the sa Bronco Mark s Sabertooth z97 Mark s right yes that's right is it okay uh yeah he like me was infatuated with that but he took it a step further and actually went and bought one yeah um I like no I don't I don't even think I even ever asked for one but uh yeah it's a very nice board and I believe that was kind of the the the impetus for this whole build so he got the white Define R5 and that's a Newton th watt Newton I think yep for the power supply probably the best looking white power supply you can find too and what is he using right now 980 looks like a 980 yeah it's a 980 from EVGA for the wind version mhm um shameful shameful stock CPU Cooler but he's the memory no no that was in that only in that other picture the memory matches that board perfectly uh yeah beautiful memory is that from a vexer I think I think so I also guys I have a bunch of CES CES I have a bunch of coputex stuff that I still am doing so I hope you guys don't get too bored bored of it but I have some really cool footage of a vexer um yeah sorry but yeah enax uh the white version of the TF I can't remember any of the tster yeah the twister twist or something yeah oh yeah that looks really clean man um I just love how the the board almost Blends into the background of the case yes um and it almost makes it look more like one piece I don't know it looks like it's congealing very nicely uh I love the cooler on there I would say your cable Management's awesome but you don't really any cables plugged into the power supply well I guess you do you have a couple there what guess he does really oh the power supply well why is it plugged in up here um I think I think he's planning on sleeving I have the same issue with my Newton right now I need to sleeve it yeah I mean if you sleeve the cables in this thing um make it black and white and maybe I think black and white just go black and white maybe add some maybe you don't even need to add gray in there there's not really any gray in the the rest of the case other than the video card maybe but um yeah some black and white sleeved cables there uh remove that Top Drive cage open up some air flow jeez I think I think you're pretty set man looks pretty good I think so too yep well done I'm glad to see it coming along nicely so beautiful work all right um the Ry roll sends in his picture of his rig all right we got a i74790k gtx970 Define our f MH uh he's admitting right up front that the cables are a mess yep so clean up your cables clean your C cables Ry roll clean that let me click on this so we can see I like how you remove the middle Drive cage since you don't need it 550 wat power supply 550 watt for I mean you're okay you're fine with you're fine yeah you're fine um it's just you don't have a whole lot of head room um but I mean unless you're dropping another graphics card in there you're okay right uh what is that CPU Cooler that looks like an EO yeah I would guess Neo Neo the heat sink um got the ssds mounted on the back see now me just this just my personal taste but it's because when I have everything installed I like to be able to see all the hardware like especially if it's a side window um yeah uh I take my ssds and I put them in the drive cage is here yeah I think I would that's just so I can be like look and there's my ssds you can see them here in this picture and there's nothing wrong with mounting them behind the motherboard at all but um I agree it kind of looks a little empty in the drive cage to see only one drive in there I would I would throw them up there show them off a little bit more and you're not even going to hurt yourself as far as cabling uh cabling yeah you can still write ride them right back there and and you know they're not going to be hot or anything like that right uh speaking of cabling I think it could be tidied up quite a bit uh especially with the uh the pcie cable I mean you've you've opted for one of those pcie cables that has two connectors on the end of it so you only really have one cable that you have to deal with so it makes uh routing that much easier but I think you've um routed it to the very bottom grommet near the power supply when I I would actually suggest routing it to the The Grommet just behind the video card itself the the obvious choice I would think because it's just the closest grommet uh to your card um to that P so yeah do that because it looks like it's just traveling too far of a distance and it draws the eye to that part of your case first um it could be very distracting and then my eyes start following oh where's this cable leading it's like a it's like an arrow in a way um aesthetically speaking uh apart from that color coordination very fun very fun got to avoid the arrow though ketchup and mustard cables you guys know how I feel about those hate them yeah yeah um get rid of those trim trim the little yellow tag off of your the cable that yeah that that yellow tag is the cable coming from the fan on the hyper 212 or the Evo or whatever it is just trim it off I know it says don't trim it off or I don't know it's just something just trim it off yeah get it you're never going to need that there and that's never going to help you right and I even really doubt oh is the audio okay yeah the audio is fine yeah what's wrong with your audio what are you talking about ble I see levels right here I hope the audio is still fine um all right are we is that is that all for this one all right R roll thanks for sending that in man all right next up we've got Henrik henrique Olivier is henrique hen Rizzle henrique now he says he's thinking about adding a custom Loop but other than that he thinks it's perfect I I think he might be pulling our leg here a little troll little bit of trolly but there are plenty of uh ways he can improve this system first off by dusting it no okay okay okay okay this is this is a very outdated system and there's nothing wrong with having a very outdated system but let's just be succinct here watch your video that you just did about your neighbor's computer yeah and do that here yeah and that's all pretty much don't go anything beyond that don't spend any money on this don't try to anything you know sleeved cables would really make this system shine don't add an SSD don't do anything save and buy a new computer but I honestly this this is mostly a troll thing Kyle why did you chose choose this I cuz it's funny cuz it's funny it's funny feeding the trolls feeding them henrique they got to eat hen Rizzle gota eat them trolls all right thank you henrique Tony dios Tony this is one of our last ones here he built this for his dad's birthday that's very endearing happy Birthday Dad uh you're good son um um but your cable management is in need of help it's not terrible it's not terrible actually I mean I've seen worse but yeah I have two but um uh you take all right the D the the add-on card that's up above the the graphics card move all the way down to the bottom yeah move that down to the bottom because you have some cables coming off that but it'll be a lot easier to tuck those away just just rot them down with your power supply cables mhm uh it will also remove that from being directly above the graphics card which isn't necessarily going to be the best spot for it um I mean the only advantage to having it up there is it's probably only using a single by one slot which is probably all it's designed for right and yes maybe efficiency wise that's okay but you're not going to lose anything by moving that all the way down to the bot can you I he doesn't say what video card that is but I hope it's a 960 yeah I mean you got a CX 430 if it's a if it's a 980 God help you and get a better power supply yeah but if it's a 960 you're okay it's not a 970 cuz 970 evj are blue how large can you make this enhance it's a 780 or 7 700 series oh it's a 700 series okay as long as it's not a 780 yeah yeah don't yeah I mean it's cx430 is a solid power supply so it's probably fine yeah I just hope you're not overclocking on that yeah just just check the TDP of your card and make sure that you're that would definitely be the thing I would upgrade on here though might be the power supply yeah yeah cuz I mean what if he's got a if he's got a 240 or was that a 280 liquid cooler on there he's probably doing some overclocking I would hope so which means if you're overclocking your CPU chances are you're just cool with overclocking in general you might be overclocking your video card as well if that's the case 430 is not going to cut it I'm sorry I would also move hold on there's a sled up here there might all right there's either a front panel thing or something going on in this top five and a quar inch Bay but I might move might move that optical drive I don't know there's not a whole lot you can do about I would want it on the top but you probably can't put it on the top cuz something else is there people are saying it might be a GTX 750 Ti super super clock yeah that would make sense then you're probably okay yeah oh then you then you have head room oh super cookie said it's a g3258 so you're okay then then I hope that was a I hope that yeah that cooler came for free it was a leftover or some heavy duty cooling for a G for that processor yeah cuz it's a dual core that cooler costs more than the processor and that's usually against the rules it looks like it could be like a something from an older build or something like that yeah yeah maybe for Reaper do he said it's for his dad so yeah I mean overclocking at g3258 is a very good idea so you do want some some decent cooling on there right but um it's hardcore yeah hardcore cooling all right thank you uh thank you Cookie appreciate that Tony indeed um and I think that pretty much wraps it up I just wanted to give an honorable mention to uh buddy Edgar what yeah but whatever you posted whatever you put in your thing doesn't work doesn't it was it wasn't pulling up yeah the page does not exist okay for some reason I I was it was going to show off a pretty pretty rig uh has excellent Cable Management some nice um little bit of nice paint job and stuff but uh the link isn't working so I'll save it for next week okay that's going to wrap it up for pimp my PC thank you guys so much uh for uh sending in those pictures really appreciate checking them out and I think on that note we're going to move to news move to news you're already over an hour I'm already over an hour so let's just fly through these we're going to fly CU I want to be respectful of everyone's time here so first off the developers uh indie game developers in particular have been hit pretty hard recently uh with uh steam's new refund policy which basically says that any gamer can refund their game at any time or not at any time but uh for any reason basically as long as they've they haven't put in over two hours of gameplay into that particular game you can just refund it full full full full money back guarantee uh as long as it's I believe they said this a hexus.net article by the way yeah right hexus thank you hexus uh can't be more than 6 months since you bought the game in order for you to do it the problem with this and why it's hurting developers is because a lot of these Indie Games can be beat in under two hours so you've essentially got penny pinching steam users that are buying these indie games playing them all the way through under two hours and then returning them bastards bastards uh they they've even outlined some examples in this article uh Beyond Gra which is a really simple well-received platformer has sold 18 copies in the last 3 days but 13 of which were refunded that's insane um so also revenge of the Titans suffering from a 55% refund rate RPG Tycoon as well as Octodad very popular indie game have been hit with uh 30% refunds which is insane um and a lot of these refunds are from purchases 5 months prior to the refund which is it's just crazy people are just trying to get you know their money back even though they enjoy the game I mean to me a refund is I thought this game was a certain way I thought I was going to enjoy it and I absolutely hate it fell so short of expect exactly and I it was a bad purchase if you got a kick out of the game you enjoyed it you know and you didn't you didn't think it was horrible then just keep the game support the developer if you want them to keep making good games otherwise this is just unacceptable I think 55% refund rate return that's just you can't make a living like that so I I have to assume that that that most people watching our show wouldn't wouldn't do that sort of thing if you know because I personally feel if you especially with a game especially with an independent game like you know these people don't really sell a lot so you know every every little bit helps so yeah I mean if you buy a game and you play it and even if you beat it and it was an hour I mean if it costs a few bucks or something like that like you shouldn't do that but um yeah I don't is is has there been any response from Steam like or valve are they going to step in and uh it's probably too early to tell but uh hasn't they haven't really come out and spoken about it yet too freely um but yeah I just think what what Paul said all right so don't do that people don't do that if you have uh next up the 390x is has been confirmed as being a rebranded Hawaii GPU hey a lot of this a lot of us saw this coming um there was actually a a box picture of a detail box that had been leaked it was an XFX power I'm sorry video card of the R9 390x and the bo making power supplies you're right and on the box it said uh advertised 8 gab of gddr5 yes as we all know the uh the Fiji cards using the Fiji gpus will not be using gddr5 they'll be using hbm uh AMD is the first one to take advantage of that with their with their Flagship cards so that tells us pretty much all the Flagship 300 series cards are going to be rebranded Hawaii gpus which uh which is what the 290x for example was using so this is kind of I don't know unfortunate news to people who might have been uh expecting to buy into a new line of of architecture um with with a 300 series but on the bright side you might get some cheaper prices that way and we're going to be talking about that right right now now yes because there was also there's just a bunch of leaks that have been happening with the 300 series in particular including prices so we've got a full list just go ahead scroll down Paul until you hit the prices here they are most notably the 390x at 8 gab of uh gddr5 enhc 389 bucks so what does that tell you about that price I think maybe that the performance is closer to a 970 a GTX 970 yes yeah well yeah I mean a a 290x will beats a 970 not always but it can but if you add eight gigs then it certainly makes it much stronger at higher resolutions yeah um assuming that Hawaii enhanced Hawaii XT has been refined and that maybe they can run at higher clock speeds and everything shipping both of those cards with eight G gigs makes it pretty compelling um yeah 389 would tell me that it will it will beat a 970 like across the board yeah and not be to 980 which is kind of expected already yep uh a 398 gig for 330 is kind of meant to be like hey for 330 bucks you could get a 970 with three and a half gigs or you can get an8 gig uh exactly 390 that's that's kind of fun right um and then even down at the lower ends like the uh the pit Karen and the Tonga Pro granted those are slightly older um as far as like when those actual uh gpus came out yeah but the prices come down so far on them compared to what they were originally um I mean a pit Caren that was what was that originally yet the 78 7850 or 7950 or 7870 I can't even remember but yeah it escapes me now but yeah I mean AMD is doing what they've done before which is they're re they're they're shuffling this all around they're rebadging some cards but ultimately it's going to shake out that the cards are going to match up to beat um Nvidia and hopefully put a little bit more pressure on them in the lower end right and then the other news that um I believe is the next story yeah so so that's that gives you a little bit of an idea of what to expect with the 300 series but what about the the actual Fiji gpus that uh that amd's been raving about that most people are awaiting um they have been officially named the uh Fury and the fury x video cards those are the uh The Branding names the marketing branding names using the Fiji uh Pro and the Fiji XT gpus respectively uh among among the two of those options um and there's a bunch of specs that were revealed for it pretty much every spec all the important ones were were pretty much leaked if you scroll down I think they're there so people can see them all these yeah um so the fury X is going to come in a few different versions there's a water cooled version and an air cooled version yeah the fury is air cooled only um and the idea here is that AMD is taking these cards and since I mean I have to assume that this is based on the performance and based on also pushing the launch dates back because we're We've been supposed to seeing these for quite a few months now right um that they've managed to get these to the point where it's going to be a serious Challenger to like a 980 TI or a Titan X and hopefully that's the case yeah um because these are using some pretty nextg crazy stuff like the uh hbm high band high bandwidth memory right that we've talked about before it sits on the same little substrat or using the wrong word there but um to connect very very closely to the GPU itself yeah but uh 496 stream processors on the fury X it's got twice twice the number of RS as the 290x yeah uh pretty sweet gcn compute Unix so these come in clusters and then there's 64 I think there's 6 I forget how many uh stream processors there I need if you divide this by this it will tell you so uh yeah GPU frequency 1,50 MHz uh the memory is what's crazy to look at it's only going to be only 4 gigs but it's so freaking fast M um look at that interface that's what makes up for it so 490 bit 496 bit interface and I believe this is going to sit on four different packages that connect at 1024 each so it's 1024 by4 and that's how they get to 496 memory frequency also seems like it's lower at 500 MHz but again because it's that hbm and because it has such a wide interface you get an effective uh much greater throughput so a gigabit per second effective memory speed but uh 52 gabes per second memory bandwidth and that's as compared to the uh 290x over here which had 320 yep so they uh they did the math here at uh wccf Tech and and they concluded that the that the uh the Fiji Flagship Fiji is 54% faster than the 290x but um if you see there that the power efficiency is is just ridiculous because you're only taking up about 10 watts additional 10 watts over the 290x to get 54% the performance um which makes the card which makes the uh the fury X 48% more efficient than the 290x and that's been that's been somewhere that AMD has been lagging behind Nvidia exactly and something that nvidia's been able to kind of hold over AMD is like well even if you can get a little bit more performance for even the same price or a few less dollars going with AMD over Nvidia your power bill is going to pay for it because a lot of them are much higher TDP cards like a 970 is for example yep but um so they're finally catching up to speed there in that realm and then lastly the thing I want to talk about were leaked benchmarks uh for the Fury X um this was from who tweak Town yeah I think so uh basically these are opencl benchmarks there's no real like hard gaming benchmarks except one uh which was in uh Manhattan Benchmark in gfx bench uh but I'll get to that in a bit so you'll see the first one was the ocean surface simulation the r9280x well actually yeah basically you've got the uh the fury x beating out Titan X AMD radon Graphics it's confusing now with like X like the X moniker or whatever being added on the end of all these Flagship cards like could could there's 26 letters in the alphabet why did AMD have to go with Fury X like the Titan X oh God tweak town oh Jesus really tweak Town don't do that ever again this makes me not want to go to tweak town when that happens bunch of tweakers over there um so it outperformed the titanex in that first test the second one it didn't didn't do very well which was face detection so face detection not very good for the for the Furious that's just fun which I don't know I'm not too familiar with with these tests to be honest um but they're all open CL um and then in the last one the tbl1 optical flow test the fury X wins again uh but this time by a smaller margin than it did with the first test um with the titanex trailing behind very closely um the the One gaming Benchmark that they did uh specify in this article the fury X got 102 frames per second on the Manhattan Benchmark in a gfx bench with the titanex bearing about or beating it with about 137 FPS so quite a landslide for the Titan X in raw gaming performance but then again we're I'm not expecting the the the Titan ah the fury X that X card to be priced nearly as high as a Titan X yeah I think we're going to see lower performance but lower price as well with with the fury X um with about the same like uh efficiency and stuff like that so cool there you go there you go yeah still very early and we also have to imagine that um drivers drivers are yep insanely uh immature at this point exactly that could uh tip the scales one way or the other but that is going to do it for this half of the show guys uh thank you so much for uh tuning in but don't go anywhere because we've got section or part two coming up right now on Paul's half of the show where he's going to be talking about more stuff and I think you're feeling you're getting alert right you're starting to feel pumped and no okay who are you I'm it's okay it's okay Paul I'm I'm here I'm your friend oh don't don't beat me I have more beer you no Jesus uh on that note we should probably take a quick breather we're going to take like I don't know two to three minutes to take a quick bathroom break and Paul's you're going to take a going to unfortunately drink some more beer uh before we go live again so thanks for watching guys stay tuned we'll be right back it's going to be fantastic yep\n"
