Apple Introduces iOS 8.3 Beta: A New Era of Wireless CarPlay and Emoji Enhancements
What's up guys, it's Device Help here today! Apple has just introduced the first beta version of iOS 8.3, which brings a couple of new features and enhancements to the operating system. Let's take a look around and see what Apple has to offer.
The first noticeable change with iOS 8.3 beta 1 lies under the "General" and "CarPlay" option as you can see now we have a new button under the Handoff feature that allows you to wirelessly share your Apple CarPlay device to a unit or a CarPlay-supported vehicle. Now, as you can see there I've already set up on my display I do have a Pioneer CarPlay-supported unit and that is the display unit right there. I have a direct link down below to my review on that Pioneer unit.
This new option allows for wireless sharing of your Apple CarPlay device, making it easier to use with your car without needing to physically connect it via the Lightning connector. Previously, you would need to plug in your device using the Lightning connector. With this new option and iOS 8.3, Apple is aiming to wirelessly enable the Apple CarPlay experience.
Now, let's talk about a feature that I was personally looking forward to: automatically pairing my iPhone with my car when I start the vehicle. If you tap on the "i" there, it gives me the option to forget the car so that way it will never do this again; will never pair again with this device unless I allow it to. And you have another option here - you can toggle on and off which says "When your phone is near and your car is started." The automatically CarPlay will initiate, basically how I have it set up now every time.
So, every time I start my vehicle, Apple CarPlay my iPhone will link together wirelessly without having to tether it. It would automatically pop on the screen so very cool! This feature is a game-changer for anyone who loves to use their iPhone in the car.
Another notable change with iOS 8.3 beta 1 is under the Messages application. Down here, you can see that the Emoji has a new look now. You can continuously scroll through all your emojis without having to individually tap on these sections as you can see down here at the bottom you have your most recent then you have your smiley face and say so on and so on just like before but now it's just more of a continuous scroll.
Additionally, Apple has made some improvements under the hood. At the Photos and Camera option under the Settings, you can see that the iCloud photo library no longer says beta. Apple is probably looking to push the iCloud photo library for iOS 8.3 as a standard feature for iOS. If you remember from the past with iOS, previous versions of iOS had this option in beta.
Other than those minor changes, Apple is still testing iOS 8.2 Beta 5 at this current time that will be released really soon probably alongside the Apple Watch. Make sure to stay tuned and subscribe if you haven't already if you want to try out iOS 8.3. I have a direct link down below on how to install this now. You guys can go ahead and test this out for yourself as well.
Don't forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ all the links will be down below. It's been great seeing you guys around and I'll catch you all on the next one peace.
