iPhone 12 vs iPhone 11 SPEED Test - NO Difference!

A Speed Test Comparison Between iPhone 12 and iPhone 11: Exporting 4K Video and Checking 5G vs LTE Performance

The author decided to conduct a speed test comparison between their iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. The devices were both running on the same firmware, version 14.1, and had all the same specifications, including the same 64GB storage capacity. However, one key difference was that the iPhone 12 had a newer application, Lumafusion, which claimed to be fully updated. To test this, the author exported a 4K video using both devices and compared their export speeds.

The results showed that the iPhone 12 was able to export the video faster than the iPhone 11 by about 5 seconds. However, what was more notable was the temperature difference between the two devices during the export process. The iPhone 11 got warmer throughout the process, while the iPhone 12 remained cool and did not even get warm. To further test this, the author ran a RAM test, which showed that both devices had enough memory to handle multiple applications without any issues.

Next, the author decided to run a speed test between 5G and LTE on their iPhone 12. They connected to a 5G network using a SIM card and ran the Speed Test app. The results were underwhelming, with download speeds of around 51.6 Mbps and upload speeds of less than 2 Mbps. To put this into perspective, the author noted that these speeds are not significantly better than those achieved on LTE.

To further test the performance of their iPhone 12, the author swapped SIM cards and tested it on an LTE network instead. The results were more impressive, with download speeds of around 70-80 Mbps and upload speeds of around 10-20 Mbps. This was a significant improvement over the 5G speeds achieved earlier.

The comparison between the two devices highlights the importance of choosing the right device for your specific needs. If performance is a top priority, the iPhone 11 may be a better choice due to its slightly faster speeds and lower price point. Additionally, if you live in an area with good LTE coverage, it may not be worth upgrading to an iPhone 12 solely for the sake of having 5G.

The author's next speed test will be more interesting, but unfortunately, they did not share any details about what that test will entail or when it will be released. However, based on the author's previous videos, it can be expected that their upcoming test will reveal some surprising results and provide valuable insights for readers.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is brandon and today we're going to be doing a speed test between last year's iphone 11 and the all-new iphone 12. so as i usually do in these videos we're going to be testing out the app launching speeds web browsing speeds i'm going to do an lte versus 5g speed test we're going to be comparing the gaming on both devices and more so before we get into the speed test let's go ahead and lay out the specs for both devices so we can see what we're working with so over here on the left we're going to have the iphone 11 which has the a13 bionic chip and 4 gigabytes of ram then over here on the right we have the iphone 12 with the a14 bionic chip and also four gigabytes of ram now i do also want to mention that this speed test is strictly for entertainment purposes obviously your results are going to vary because everybody uses their device in a different way on a daily basis so i'm going to be testing out the speed in my way of doing it but that may not reflect you know exactly how you use your device on a day-to-day basis so i have to say that because sometimes i get some crazy comments of people you know refuting and disagreeing with the way i'm running this speed test and saying it's not realistic so obviously it's not realistic so anyways let's go ahead and boot these down and i will be doing a boot up test here as well to see which device will boot up faster all right so both devices are fully shut down and now we're going to do a boot up test we're going to press the side button at the exact same time in three two one pressing and holding on both at the exact same time here let's see if we get an apple logo first so we got the apple logo first on the iphone 11 over here and you can see this is the backs of them right here so i don't know why but in these speed tests the older one usually wins which is really strange but we may see a difference here okay so the iphone 12 one by quite a few seconds of course right when i said that you see the difference there so about maybe a five second difference there in the boot up speeds which is pretty interesting now i don't think there's gonna be a face id difference in the speed and things like that but i will go ahead and test that so it looks like the iphone 12 might be slightly faster at unlocking via face id but really really close i mean pretty much no difference at all and that time it actually looked like the iphone 11 was first so in real world scenarios you are not going to notice a difference in face id speeds going from the 11 to the 12. all right so now let's go ahead and close out of all of the applications here and we're going to get into the app launching test all right so all applications are closed as you can see right there and we're going to start off with some simple social media applications like twitter in three two one press at the same time there it looks like it was a tie i really did not see any difference at all right there so let's go ahead and see if we go to a tweet here so we're gonna see if the share sheet opens up first on one or the other and it looked like the exact same there let's go ahead and go over here and go to share via and see if one pops up before the other and that looked very close as well really no difference at all let's go ahead and open in safari see if there's a difference there and it looks like the iphone 11 actually loaded that up before the iphone 12 so that's pretty interesting let's see if anything has changed there on that share sheet no so iphone 11 actually opened that tweet in safari first for some reason so let's go ahead and try out instagram press at the same time there and it looks like the iphone 12 very close though the iphone 12 loaded up everything first but that was very close we got the content first on the iphone 12. it looked like it was going to be much faster at the beginning but it ended up being pretty close let's go into youtube see if there's a difference in youtube here and pretty much exactly the same the preview started there on the iphone 12 first but not a big deal let's go into reddit again press at the same time and looks like the iphone 11 once again wins with opening up reddit right there and actually loading in all of the content as well let's go ahead over and try out the podcasts application and that looked like it was the iphone 11 maybe the iphone 12 didn't load in all of the content but it looks like some things are a little bit different in here as well but nonetheless looks like the iphone 11 may have won that one there let's go into spotify spotify is first on the iphone 12. let's go into amazon and amazon also first on the iphone 12 by a few seconds there let's go into lumafusion this is a more heavy application and that was first on the iphone 12. all right so it seems like a pretty split even tie right now so let's go ahead into the games because this is where we will definitely start seeing some differences from the 11 to the 12. so let's start off with something simple like subway surfers press at the exact same time there let's see if we get any type of difference and it looks like the iphone 12 is loading up first yes the iphone 12 by a couple of seconds there with subway surfers let's go into plants vs zombies again press at the exact same time here and it looks like the iphone 12 is slightly in the lead so even with the game center pop-up there it was first and with the loading bar it looks like the iphone 12 is also going to win here and so yeah the iphone 12 won with plans for zombies over the iphone 11 as well let's go into call of duty mobile we are logged into two different accounts here so this should be a pretty even battle here so call of duty mobile is a pretty intensive pretty heavy game as well we are loading right now both are fully up to date have all the updates downloaded and everything so it should be very even iphone 12 and iphone 11 are both i mean it's pretty much neck to neck right now neck and neck right here but the iphone 12 looks like it's pulling ahead now once it reached about that 50 marker there so iphone 12 with gaming looks like you will see an improvement this year over last year's iphone 11 as expected and yeah so by a couple of seconds actually it's going on even further than that so maybe close to five seconds difference there with call of duty mobile which is quite impressive for just a one year chip difference let's go on to pubg mobile again press at the exact same time there this is another heavy intensive application and it's looking like the iphone 12 is slightly in the lead here as well again nothing major that's why i wanted to put the disclaimer at the beginning of this video because obviously real world usage you're probably not going to tell a major difference between these two but i just wanted to see if there really is you know that big of a difference at all and this is pretty much showing that there's not a huge difference although the iphone 12 is definitely faster for most of these applications so now let's jump back into lumafusion and export this video in 4k and see if we have any difference in exporting 4k video so we're going to go ahead and do this as you can see we have the same at 4k 30fps settings for both devices and it's the exact same video same length and everything 7 minutes 15 seconds and 20 milliseconds and we are exporting at the exact same time here and let's see if there is a difference in the export speeds for a 4k video using the lumafusion application fully updated and of course both these devices are also on 14.1 not sure if i mentioned that earlier but both are on the exact same firmware everything about these devices is exactly the same all right so there we go you can see that the iphone 12 is going to export this video faster by a few seconds here over the iphone 11 maybe a five second difference there nothing too major but i do want to note that the iphone 11 did get hotter throughout that export process versus the iphone 12 the iphone 12 did not get hot at all did not even get warm but the iphone 11 did get a little bit on the warmer side and i did also just run through a ram test and both devices did not reload any application so that four gigabytes of ram seems to be solid because none of the applications that i opened before had to relaunch when i opened them again they were all stored in that memory all right so now we're going to run a quick 5g versus lte speed test so i do have 5g on right here i just put my sim card into the iphone 12. we're going to go ahead into the speed test application and see if we get any type of difference from lte to 5g all right so let's go ahead and start the speed test you can even see down at the bottom it does say 5g confirming that we are using a 5g network here so you can see we're getting about less than 50 on the download i'm not super close to a 5g tower or anything like that so i'm not going to get any type of major speed improvements with 5g here and most of you guys probably i'd say 90 of you are also not going to notice a huge bump in speed with 5g unless you are in a huge city and you're just really close to a tower but you can see here we got a 51.6 on the download let's see what we get on the upload the uploads looking pretty weak there so looks like less than two on the upload so those are the results on the iphone 12 using 5g so a 51.6 versus a 1.62 now let's test out the iphone 11 using lte i'm going to swap my sim card and put it in there and see how these speeds compare so we are on lte on the iphone 11 now so let's go ahead and see how these speeds compare on 5g versus regular lte here on the iphone 11 and take a look at that so we got a higher download on lte and a higher upload as well so a much higher upload on lte versus 5g and a slightly higher download as well on lte versus 5g so this aligns with exactly what i talked about in my first things to do video on the iphone 12 where i explained 5g and if you haven't watched that that is linked up in the cards and down in the description below but basically 5g is going to be better for bringing lte to everybody and you know improving lte coverage versus you know improved speeds because of 5g so anyways not too surprising here to see the lte is faster than 5g because that's probably going to be the case for most of you guys unless you are just right near a 5g tower so there you have it guys that is a speed test between the iphone 11 and the iphone 12. so if you guys are looking to buy an iphone 11 or an iphone 12 strictly for performance sake i would go with the iphone 11 because you will save some money and get pretty much the exact same performance and plus 5g is not there yet so that should not be you know something you buy an iphone 4 in 2020. and of course if you have an iphone 11 now it is definitely not worth upgrading to the iphone 12 in my opinion so yeah let me know what you guys think about this speed test in the comments below it was a pretty i wouldn't say boring but a pretty expected speed test a very minimal difference i'm pretty sure most of you guys predicted that from the start so really not too much going on nothing too surprising however my next speed test will be very interesting so definitely stay tuned to that you will not want to miss that that is also coming on the same day i upload this so if you want to see that video and you're watching this now check it out up in the cards and down in the description below but anyways guys thanks again for watching and i'll see you soon youwhat's up guys my name is brandon and today we're going to be doing a speed test between last year's iphone 11
