Goodbye, Frosted Glass Door

The Renovation You're About to See is Real

My partner, Brady, and I have lived here for a couple of years now. We love the neighborhood, our backyard, and our floor plan. We love it here, and we love our house. But there's one thing that we really want to change: our master bathroom. It's just so... boring. Everything is white, and it's very simple. The 80s called, and they went there across the glass back. But the least favorite thing about our master bathroom has to be the carpet. Nobody likes carpet in the bathroom, well, some people might not know that. We want to take out the carpet and put some nice thick vinyl flooring in instead.

We're going to take this vanity and separate it into two so we each have our own little station. The shower is going to get a major overhaul. We're taking away the frosted door, and I'm not really a fan of that either. Brownie doesn't like it either. But we're putting in a nice frameless glass door instead. And to keep the flow of the bathroom going, we're going to take out these panels and tile from the top down. We think it's most cost-effective for us to keep the bathtub.

We've only got a few days to get this done, and both Brady and I work full-time. So, we have to really buckle down and make sure everything is perfect. Neither of us has ever done a project like this before, but we're determined to make it happen. I did build a gingerbread house once, that was about the closest thing I've ever come to doing something like this. If I can build a gingerbread house with frosting and cookies, how hard can it be? But, I'm not even thinking about food today; it's the last day of the renovation.

I completed the flooring, put in the cabinets, and got the tile up in the shower through the shower door last night. We still have to install the shower door, which is going to be the moment of truth. I'm really hoping that it fits and stays. But, I'm freaking out right now; oh my gosh! All I can think about is fingers crossed, please fit, please fit, please fit! Then we'll see if the door will close and close the gap. I'm so nervous; I'm scared.

We finally got to check it out, and our shower door is so pretty! We're all excited to use it now that it's finished. The door is in the gap, and it's straight; it fits perfectly. It's so exciting, and it's so relieving. We do have a few touch-ups that we'll need to do eventually - maybe some paint - but we're just happy that we have our bathroom back, and we can start using it again.

We feel really great about what we've accomplished here. We worked hard on this renovation, and it's definitely not perfect. But, it's perfect for us, and that's all that matters. And, I'm a little partial to my left arm; but, you just almost cut your arms! I know tile stuck! My name is Jen Cohen, and my partner, Brady, and I worked hard to create this new master bathroom.
