How fast is the Radeon RX 6700 XT

**A Test of the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT: A Card Worth Considering**

When we first started gaming, high-end graphics cards were a rare breed, and it was easy to find one that could handle even the most demanding games. However, times have changed, and now those same games can be much more challenging to play smoothly. The AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is one such card that has been touted as a powerful option for gamers, but how does it really hold up in practice?

Our testing began with a game from back in the day, when we first started gaming, and it's since gone down a little bit to the mid 70s. But don't worry, modern games are much more demanding, so we've got some recent titles to test as well. The last game we're testing today is of course Cyberpunk 2077 max settings, and we'll leave ray tracing off for now. Obviously, saving the most demanding game for last was a good idea, particularly when you have ray tracing enabled.

But even without ray tracing, Cyberpunk 2077 is a tough cookie to crack on many systems. Even without that feature, it's still a really unforgiving game in most cases. We're seeing dips below 60 frames per second, and even then, we're lucky if we can clear the 50s for most of our time in the game. There are occasions where we get over 60, but those moments are few and far between. And don't even think about turning on ray tracing - that's just a recipe for disaster.

We do have one feature to help us out, however: AMD's promise of max settings at 1440p gaming. We've got a card with this tech, the Radeon RX 6700 XT, and we're eager to see how it performs. So far, so good. Five out of six games in today's testing are not bad, and those that were able to hit well over 100 fps did so without any issues.

One game did stand out as a bit more demanding than the rest, however: Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings with no ray tracing enabled. We're seeing dips below 60 frames per second here, sometimes dipping even lower - we're talking into the 40s now. And when things get really tough, like in this fire-fight scene... well, let's just say it's not a pretty sight. It looks like our card is struggling to keep up with the demands of this game.

But don't take all of that as a negative - after all, we are still getting around 50 frames per second most of the time. And in some cases, we're even able to break into the 60s. It's not a perfect picture, but it's definitely smooth enough for most players. We just have to be aware of when things might get tough.

The question is, how does this card compare to AMD's other offerings? The Radeon RX 3060 Ti and RX 3070 are two cards that come to mind, and we can only wonder if the 6700 XT sits between them in terms of price and performance. We'd love to have some benchmarks comparing these cards side by side, but until then, we'll just have to rely on our own experiences.

One thing is for sure: AMD has a great card on their hands here, even if it's not the most efficient option. At $479, it's definitely a deal that's worth considering - especially when you factor in the competition from NVIDIA. But with many moving parts at play right now, including the ongoing crypto craze and the associated shortages, we're not sure how long we'll be able to snag one of these cards.

For now, though, if you're in the market for a new graphics card, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is definitely worth looking into. It's a great option for those who want max settings at 1440p gaming without breaking the bank - or at least, not too badly. And with its smooth performance and decent frame rates, we can't say it's a bad choice.
