Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge on ARM-Based Retro Handhelds
Hey what's going on everybody, it's ETA Prime back here again today we're going to be taking a look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge running on this arm power device here. This is actually the Amberg Neck RG 503 but this actually works on a lot of other retro handhelds as long as the system is supported by Arc OS, Jealous, and Amber Alex. So all in all there's about 12 different retro handhelds that this will work with and it's absolutely amazing to see this running on an arm device like this. Definitely a great beat em up.
I did a video of it running on the Steam Deck the day it released but to see it running on these arm-based retro handhelds is pretty awesome. Now it's not a super hard game to run but it did need to be ported over and was ported over by a developer who goes by Johnny on Flame, does some really amazing work and I want to give a big shout out to Russ over at Retro Game Corp because I probably wouldn't have heard about this if he didn't do an install tutorial. So if you're interested in getting this installed on your retro handheld I'll leave a link to that video and his channel in the description he goes over everything you need to get this up and running and it really couldn't be any simpler as long as you're running the correct OS, you can install this in a couple of minutes but keep in mind you need to own the game from Steam so I would highly recommend supporting the developers buying it on Steam, it's definitely worth picking it up and if you're into retro gaming you probably already own it now I completely understand that if you got a switch you've already got a handheld version of this but seeing it being ported over to these retro devices is still pretty awesome in my opinion.
So with this device here the Amberg Neck RG 503 it runs really well and we have that OLED display I think it looks great on this little handheld here. And this is powered by a 1.8 gigahertz quad core Rock Chip CPU, it really doesn't take much to run this game and we all knew that I mean it's a 2d side-scrolling beat-em-up but it is one of the best beat em-ups that's been released in a long time.
Alright so just testing this out with a wired controller on the RG 503 we do have two USB type C ports up top, I'm running Gel OS otherwise known as Jealous and to tell you the truth I haven't tested HDMI out with this operating system but obviously it's working, it detected my wired controller. I'll go ahead and just go through the setup process real quick and we'll head over here to ports, this is going to be using Port Master to run it takes a little bit to load but it looks like we'll be able to play it, I'll go ahead and continue and I'll just skip right into a little bit of gameplay here so far so good everything's working really well I mean the game is running at full speed looks pretty good here I mean it's a pixel based game there's not much that can go wrong here.
And I'm actually just gonna try the built-in controls here yeah, so it's second player just drop Raphael right in there and if I plugged in another controller to the other USB port I'm sure I could get an extra player up but yeah this is really awesome love seeing it running on these retro handhelds. Uh next thing we need is to see this running on the Raspberry Pi 4, I've done a little bit of research trying to see if anybody's you know working on it or getting a port over there but it doesn't look like Port Master works with the Raspberry Pi 4 so that's a bit unfortunate.
But if you've got one of these retro handhelds and you want to get this up and running I'll leave a link to Retro Game Core's YouTube channel and the video where Russ shows you how to get this installed, but that's gonna wrap it up for this one thought it was really cool had to make a quick video and like always thanks for watching.

play multiplayer on this if you connect a bluetooth controller or a wired controller you can have two people playing and with something like the rg503 we do have hdmi out and that's something i actually wanted to test and we will take a look at that in a second but overall this game has been performing really well on this device and it's great to see a modern retro game come into these retro handhelds alright so just testing this out with a wired controller on the rg 503 we do have two usb type c ports up top i'm running gel os otherwise known as jealous and to tell you the truth i
