First, I want to talk about the display and brightness options. Now, you may remember when I bought the **Product Read Folio case** (a leather case) for my iPhone 10, a new option popped up in my display menu that says "Lock / Unlock." This feature allows you to turn on or off based on whether your iPhone's case is opened or closed. So, it detects the iPhone's case when it opens and shuts, effectively locking or unlocking the device.

I want to note here that this new option only became available after I started using the folio leather case. Let me know in the comments if you have this option in beta 2 for iOS 11.4. From my experience, I don't have it on this other iPhone running beta 1 for iOS 11.3. You can see here that it is not present, but it does show up in beta 2—again, only after I used that leather case.

A lot of people are also reporting a new wallpaper under the wallpapers section. Now, I couldn't find this wallpaper on my iPhone 10, so I decided to update this iPhone 8 to see if it's exclusive to Plus models. ## New Wallpaper for Plus Models

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to check if this new wallpaper is only available for Plus models. So, let's take a look at this iPhone 8 after it has finished updating. Going into **Wallpapers > Stills**, here we go—there it is! It seems like the new wallpaper is indeed exclusive to Plus model iPhones. On my iPhone 10 (non-Plus), I didn't get the new wallpaper in beta 2, so it's clear that this feature is only for Plus models.

## AirPlay 2 Improvements

Now, moving on to another important update: **AirPlay 2 improvements**. You may recall that I previously mentioned issues with connectivity, Bluetooth performance, and overall connections in earlier versions of iOS. However, Apple has addressed these problems in this beta release.

Specifically, when playing YouTube videos, there was a noticeable audio lag of about 2 to 3 seconds. That issue has been resolved. Additionally, Bluetooth connectivity has been improved, and I haven't noticed the delay between my Apple Watch, iPhone, or vice versa during my time with this update—about 2 to 3 hours in, and it's already performing much better.

It seems like Apple really targeted this particular section of the software to make improvements. If you've experienced connectivity issues before, this beta might just fix them for good.

## iOS 11.4 Beta Details

Before I forget, let me mention that the **iOS 11.4 beta update** comes in at around **248 megabytes**, and its size may vary depending on your device and the software you're currently running. The build number for this beta is **15F5049C**, so keep that in mind if you need to reference it later.

Also, we still have the **Feedback app** on the springboard, which means Apple is likely anticipating more betas before the public release. Typically, iOS updates go through several beta versions—so expect at least five, maybe six or seven more betas before this software is finalized and released to the general public.

As for when that might happen, we're looking at the **summer months**, possibly June or July. Of course, we'll have to wait and see how things progress with future betas.

## Battery Testing

Now, one thing I want to mention is battery performance. Earlier, in beta 1 of iOS 11.4, I noticed that battery life was terrible—so bad, in fact, that it prompted me to test the batteries. I'm planning another round of testing with this updated version to see if Apple has addressed those issues.
