The Excitement of MWC: Motorola's Bending Phone Concept
One of the most exciting things about attending a tech event like MWC is seeing concept devices that have the potential to revolutionize our understanding of what a phone can be. Today, we're excited to share with you Motorola's latest concept device – a bending phone that can wrap around your wrist. This innovative device was announced back in October, but we've managed to get our hands on it and play with it, and we have to say, it's quite an interesting device.
The first thing to note about this concept phone is its impressive specs. It features a full HD+ OLED screen that measures 6.9 inches when folded, which is quite a sight to behold. However, the real magic happens when you wrap it around your wrist. The phone essentially becomes like a watch, allowing you to do various activities with it, much like the cover display on Motorola's Razer devices. This new concept display offers a unique user experience that blurs the lines between a phone and a smartwatch.
Bending a phone screen just doesn't seem natural at first glance. The device feels like it might snap in tune every time you try to bend it around your wrist, which can be a bit disconcerting. However, Motorola has cleverly addressed this issue by incorporating magnetic links in the back of the concept phone. These magnetic links allow the phone to snap onto a metal Ling bracelet that comes with the device, providing stability and preventing any accidental snaps.
When you wrap the phone around your wrist, it automatically detects that it's in watch mode and makes the top of the display resemble the Motorola Razer cover display. This means you can perform all the activities you would normally do on the main screen – swipe, tap, and interact with apps – but now with a twist. The device is not excessively heavy, comparable to an Apple Watch Ultra or other big smartwatches.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of this concept phone is its ability to transform into different shapes. When placed on a table, it can split into almost like a clown shape, allowing for some fun and playful interactions. For instance, we've seen people playing Connect 4 with this device, which adds a new layer of engagement and entertainment.
As exciting as this concept phone is, it's essential to remember that it's still a conceptual device and not yet available in the market. Motorola hasn't released any official specs or details about its production timeline, so we can only speculate about when this revolutionary device might hit stores. While it might never become mainstream, it's clear that Motorola has created something unique and fascinating with their bending phone concept.
What Do You Think? Would You Get This Bending Phone Concept?
If this concept were to become a reality, would you ever consider getting your hands on one of these innovative devices? The answer depends largely on personal preference and the value we place on innovation. While some people might be eager to experience the thrill of having a phone that can transform into a smartwatch, others might be hesitant due to concerns about durability or practicality.
Let us know in the comments what you think – would you get this bending phone concept if it were available? We'd love to hear your thoughts and discuss this exciting device further. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enone of the most exciting things when you come to something like mwc is that you get to see a lot of concept devices we've already seen a invisible laptop from Lenovo and now Motorola are showing us something that is a little bit different you can get a bending phone that can go around your wrist this was announced back in October but I've managed to get my hands on it today and just have a little play with it and it's actually quite an interesting device because there's nothing else like it out there first of all it's a full hdp OLED which basically means a plastic screen and it's 6.9 in when it's folded but the interesting thing here is that you can wrap it right around your wrist and it essentially becomes a little bit like a watch so you can do some activity with it and it's really similar to that cover display that motorol have on the Razer whatever you can do on that cover display of the Motorola Razer you can do it on this concept display the one thing is that it's weird because to bend a phone screen just doesn't seem natural and this feels like every time you want to bend it around your wrist it feels like it's going to snap in tune but there are magnetic links in the back of this concept phone and what it'll do is it snaps to a bracelet which you have to have on your wrist and it's a metal Ling bracelet you can get for any other sort of Smartwatch but this one it has to snap to the back of it and you have to slowly very carefully bend it around your wrist and just hope that it doesn't break and it's a concept and it hasn't broken yet and we've just seen a load of people have a play with it one of the most fun things that you can do on this is that when it is down on that table and split into almost like a clown shape you can start to play games on it so here you can see people are playing Connect 4 so you can have one person on one end and it's just a bit of fun I think that this is one of those devices that might never come mainstream but just to have a play with it and see people kind of enjoying it is something that I think it's quite a nice idea but would you ever put it in your back pocket and have it as your main phone I just don't know if that's going to be a thing we don't really have any specs because it is a concept so it doesn't mean that you are going to be able to go to the store and pick it up tomorrow so in terms of things like camera in terms of what's running it we don't know we have actually been told by Motorola but when you wrap it around your wrist it automatically detects that it's in almost like a watch mode and will make the top of the display almost like that Motorola Razor cover display and you can do everything you can do on that display but this time now on your wrist and it's actually not that heavier than something like an Apple Watch Ultra or one of those big SmartWatches but I don't know if I'd trust it running down the street or in the rain because I don't even think this is IP rated so that would be a bit of an issue what I like about Motorola is that they have these new Concepts around so last year we had that Motorola Riser which was the rollable display which you can see just extended a click of a button and this year we've gone for a concept display which can literally fall around your wrist but let me know what you think if this was available would you ever get it I mean don't get your hopes up I don't think it is going to be available but let me know in the comments and if you subscribe to the channel you'll see a load more of
