Apple averaged 1 billion dollars in revenue per day from October 1st to New Year's Eve of 2019, and this is the picture attached to the article on 905 Mac just just look at that smile you know that's I'm sure that's probably exactly the facial expression on Tim Cook and when he went to that board meeting and saw those numbers that's only a smile that a billion dollars a day it could conjure. But yeah, market analysts are reporting that over this 90-day period Apple grossed ninety one point eight billion dollars in revenue.
so yes it is a huge shocker Apple makes a lot of money in other news this is kind of a funny story Neil Young who's widely considered to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time was recently interviewed by our friends of the verge and he had this to say about the beloved MacBook Pro and I quote are you kidding that's fisher-price quality that's like Captain Kangaroo your new engineer MacBook Pro what are you talking about can't get anything out of that thing the only way you can get it out is if you put it in and if you put it in you can't get it out because the DAC is no good in the MacBook Pro so you have to use an external DAC and do a bunch of stuff to make up for the problems that the MacBook Pro has.
because they're not aimed at quality they're aimed at consumerism that's what Steve Jobs told me he told me that exact thing we're making products for consumers not quality so they don't want audio quality they don't want to spend a lot of time on that audio quality for your reference and for anybody else that's listening is deeper than visual quality you can look at things and think you're seeing everything with high-res whatever you're looking at in the picture but true audio dimension is so deep and there's so much data if you want to capture at all in the echo and the softness and the loudness and the difference as things are decaying and getting smaller and smaller as they go away that's part of the beauty of sound and the beauty of music.
is based on that is that you can hear all the detail now when you talk about doing that on the MacBook Pro it makes me barf so here's my thing I think we see this often where high profile creative professionals wall sometimes trash Apple or Mac hardware for their creative use case but you should kind of know what you're getting into when buying a Mac product. now Apple while they charge a pretty penny for the MacBook Pro they don't really advertise it to have top-of-the-line built-in audio hardware.
they use marketing phrases like studio-quality to describe the new mic system on the new 16 inch MacBook Pro the word studio could mean literally anything you know and if we're being real MacBook Pros compared to other high end laptops in that price bracket the MacBook Pro has one of the best audio setups if we're talking about speakers and mic on a laptop period so I think if you look further into the article on the website you can kind of see why Neil Young might have some disdain for Apple and the products they make.
but I think it's safe to assume that he probably didn't cop the sixteen inch for our final story new reports are suggesting that Apple might be interested in acquiring MGM or metro-goldwyn-mayer which is one of the oldest and longest running film studios in the world they were founded in 1924 and they own franchises like James Bond Tomb Raider Pink Panther Robocop the list goes on there are very few details as far as to when this acquisition would be taking place but reports suggest that this was an acquisition or an idea that was brought forth by MGM and not Apple so we'll just wait and see what happens.
but I know for sure that this will be one hell of an asset for Apple TV plus if Apple actually acquires MGM that would be pretty huge so that is going to be it for the very first episode of 905 Mac Weekly I hope you all enjoyed like I said I want this to be a super fun and interactive series and I haven't really scraped the surface at all as far as where I want this to go but if you have any comments feedback suggestions please sound off in the comments section below because I'll definitely be reading everything and if you want to be featured in the next video showcasing your Mac or Apple set up like I said links down in the description for my Instagram and Twitter handles just message me with the video there and you might be on the channel but like I said it's pretty much it.
thanks for watching
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys miles here with nine-to-five Mack and I welcome you to the first official episode of 95 Mack weekly the general gist of the show is just going over the biggest and most interesting Apple and Apple related news and chews that chews part didn't really make much sense but you know it's okay I'm your host miles Somerville Matt marques Brownlee and in all seriousness I definitely want this to be a fun and interactive series that gives every single one of you the chance to be involved with the show but I'll get into how that works a bit later but for now the news this week Apple announced that they're rolling out their redesigned version of Apple maps for the US with Europe to follow apple says that their redesign will allow for quicker and more accurate navigation there's apparently new features like look around which offers a street-level view with high-resolution navigation and I think this is good Apple has slowly but surely been improving Apple Maps in the recent years but Google Maps is still always kind of been king for me personally just because of how well it integrates with Google services in my Google account but hey maybe one of these days I might possibly maybe give Apple Maps a try maybe sort the video q4 2019 earnings reports are showing that Apple actually managed to best Samsung in the amount of mobile units shipped but still ended up falling behind Huawei for the entirety of 2019 so in the entirety of 2019 Huawei sold about 240 million smartphone units while Apple only sold a sad measly 197 million units they're just really falling behind honestly you would think that given the whole Google services issue with Huawei phones Apple would have some sort of leg up because people would not buy their phones because they're unusable for a lot of people especially Google users like myself but I guess not and you got to think about the fact that Huawei also kind of has a phone or a product for everyone and at every price point for example I could walk into a huawei store with 500 bucks and walk out with a smart phone a SmartWatch and Bluetooth wireless earbuds if I want to do the exact same thing at Apple I'd need at least $800 and that getting like an iPhone 8 from like you know that's like over two years old at this point but hey maybe the iPhone 9 / se - can turn things around to turn the tide and allow Apple finally dethrone Huawei speaking of which any reports from my boy Ming ching kuo hint at a slew of new Apple products to be released in the first half of this year those products include the iPhone se - a new iPad pro new MacBooks with the updated / not really updated keyboard design a tile like tracking device and a high-end pair of bluetooth headphones in addition to a smaller one I was charging that as far as the Apple tag we've had hints to this in some iOS 13.2 code but I'm personally really just interested to see how Apple could actually innovate upon the foundation in which tile has laid get it because it's a tile like a floor whatever as far as the wireless charging mat is concerned we don't know much other that it's supposed to be smaller than the failed air power charging mat so we'll see what this ends up looking like I hope it's not just another overpriced Apple product that does the exact same thing as any third-party offerings now when talking about this high-end pair of bluetooth headphones we heard rumors of this backing like 2018 so I wonder why it's been on the back burner for so long maybe had something to do with ear pods pro but I mean I'm personally really interested to see how an Apple pair of over ear headphones would actually look you know especially how would cost how much it would cost I think it's probably gonna be a lot because you know we're gonna take a break from the news to introduce a new segment I'm gonna be calling in the show I'm not sure what the title exactly is going to be yet but for now the working title is going to be nine-to-five des Lex and if anyone has a super catchy or super clever name for the show or the segment and you want to comment it down below I'll shout you in the next episode and that'll be the official name for this segment but as far as when it actually is it's an opportunity for all of you to show off in a video one to two minutes long just your Mac slash Apple oriented setup and I figured this is not going to be a competition or anything like that but I figured it'd be a great way for us to showcase the ways that we utilize Apple products because we all use these products in different ways and I figured it'd also be a way for us to help each other as far as improving our own setups as well you can film a one to two minute video on your smartphone or on your camera if you want to go the extra mile and then you shoot it to me on my messages on either instagram or twitter my handle for both is at sum of miles links will be down in the description just know that you have to send it to me on a platform that'll allow me to easily download it so no YouTube no Vimeo links or anything like that this is why I encourage you guys to probably just use your smartphone that way I don't have to jump through extra hoops to get your video showcased on the channel but let's take a look at the very first setup of 9:00 to 5:00 des Plex on 905 Mac weekly hello
