My Office Organization Project: A Journey of Trial and Error

As I sat at my desk, staring at the empty space where a drawer system once was, I knew I had to act fast. I pulled out the chair from under me, ensuring that the surface beneath it was clear, and began to envision what this new piece of furniture would look like. At first glance, it appeared to be just a simple desk frame with no drawers attached. However, I saw an opportunity to create a space that worked for me, even if it meant some creative problem-solving.

I headed out to Walmart to purchase the desk and, as fate would have it, they had it in stock. But what was available at my local store wasn't exactly what I needed, so I opted for grocery pickup instead. The desk arrived the next day, and I couldn't wait to get started on organizing this new space.

I began by clearing off the top of the desk, creating a makeshift "junk drawer" area where I could stash various knick-knacks and supplies. My trusty Bluetooth speaker and charger took center stage, accompanied by a handful of candies that I'd picked up earlier in the day. The desk was starting to take shape, but it still felt like a mess.

Next, I turned my attention to the drawers themselves. Since they didn't come with any pre-installed drawer organizers or dividers, I had to get creative. I rummaged through my dollar store finds – yes, you read that right, dollar stores – and filled each drawer with a collection of papers and miscellaneous items that needed organization. My private files, highlighted by the fabulous dollar tree highlighters, found a new home in one of the drawers. In another, I stacked my favorite pens, pencils, and notepads.

But as much as I loved these Dollar Tree finds, I knew they wouldn't be enough to keep everything organized for long. That's when I stumbled upon those amazing adhesive drawer dividers on Amazon. They were a game-changer! Not only did they provide sturdy support for my items but also added a touch of sleekness to the desk. With their help, I was able to corral my pens, remotes, and other frequently used supplies into neat little bins.

As I continued to work on my office organization project, it became clear that this space would need to be adapted as time went on. My favorite feature – those adhesive drawer dividers – would remain a staple in the desk's layout. But what really caught my eye was how much each item brought value to the space. For instance, the green folders from Dollar Tree served as a makeshift file system, while the notepads and pens added a personal touch.

One of the most significant challenges I faced during this project was figuring out how to keep everything functional yet aesthetically pleasing. The desk, once a plain frame, had transformed into a space that worked for me – at least, for now. And as I looked around the room, taking in all the little details and quirks of my office setup, I realized that it wasn't about perfection; it was about making do with what I had and finding joy in the process.

For now, this desk is a work-in-progress, but it's mine, and I'm happy to call it home. As for that closet... well, let's just say I have bigger plans on the horizon.

done in a previous decorate with me which i'll link down below in case you want to know where anything is from so it'll be in that video i was definitely going for like bridgerton vibes at the time which is interesting because it's kind of victorian and as most of you know it's been an element that i've just really fallen in love with lately so it's kind of funny that i did it in this room but didn't really figure it out till later on that i wanted it basically in the rest of my house so here's loki so i had to solve for several problems in my office and one of them was actually moving the rug originally when i had the previous desk here the rug was all the way back here um but it was like making a problem with me pulling my chair up so it was like here and then i would have to literally lift up my chair and put the rollers over the carpet because you know it was like bumping into it and it was such a pain such a hassle and it was just a daily issue and yes look i have a little um i have the bolt i just have to get it put back in so essentially what i did was i moved the carpet so far back that my chair can just go easily up and down without hitting the carpet so that is a huge relief for me because it has truly been such an ordeal so as you can see the carpet is more over here got the chairs there they actually make this desk in a little bit longer version and i actually wished i would have gone with the longer version um just because i think it would have fit better with two monitors um so if you are gonna maybe buy this desk which i'll link down below it's from amazon very easy very simple and clean and what i really wanted so like what took me forever to find this desk was having this piece right here they make a lot of desks but you can see your legs and your chair you know because they don't have this blocked off and so when i finally found this one i knew it was perfect because i didn't want to be able to see under the desk basically so that's what i love about it and then the chairs and yeah so i do have two monitors the other one i'm just not sure what i'm gonna do quite yet i might move it up to my craft room but i kept my desk pretty simple because the decor already does quite quite a bit in here and then my trees which i love because i glued white roses to it and it's so cute i just love it um so i didn't want to really change anything about the decor but the desk obviously was ruined and it's nice to have this bright white desk because when i flip you guys over here i have this dresser that i've been using as like a storage cabinet for all my files so and that's bright white so now you can see the two pieces together it just all matches and yeah just feels so much better to have gotten rid of that old desk and that old desk i've had you guys since before i started youtube like that's how long i had that desk and well no i started youtube but then i stopped like youtube for a couple years and in that gap i had gotten that desk so i think it was like 2013 when i had gotten that desk and it was already on its last leg they had broken it when i moved in and so anyways enough of the desk you can see i kept the lamps i really love the lamps again i love lighting so i think it's just really charming at night um so got that going on and then i'll take you guys on a tour this way so just have like my phone and my macbook and then that is actually a digital picture um frame so i just need to i've had it for a while i actually got it for my daughter and i think it was in a video a really long time ago so if you remember it you have a stellar memory and i think i got it for when she moved into her dorm room i don't even remember to be honest but um anyways i found it again and i was like you know what i'm gonna use it for my office i just need to put some pictures it can even do videos on a memory card and then i'll plug it up and then i have the remote to it this remote right here works that led lamp and then those and then these remotes are to my tv that i have right here i love this tv it used to be in the butler's pantry in the last house if you guys remember that this is that tv yeah so those are the remotes then i have you know who right here i love that because i can also like play some music and that's pretty much it so just trying to keep the space pretty clean and then when i pull the chair out so i knew when i saw this desk that it was just a desk it's just the frame there's no drawer system or anything attached to it so that's why i purchased this i got this from walmart by the way um even if you do like a grocery pickup um mine i was able to add to my cart and walmart shipped it to me so it wasn't a guess available at my walmart for pickup but it i added it basically to my grocery order and then it shipped and i got it the next day so and then you saw me organize the top drawers just some candies i got my bluetooth and the charger here and then my little like junk drawer kind of system back here so kept that really simple and then in this drawer which loki wants to be part of i was having to stack some things because i just needed the room so even though it doesn't look that pretty or maybe even functional it's functional for me so i have all of these little folders here that are from dollar tree and then these green folders which are from dollar tree i use all of these for like receipts and all kinds of like papers that i organize and then i wanted to have my envelopes on hand because i actually use these quite a bit and then my new little notepads that i hauled and then composition notebooks some more of these green files which some of them already have like my private papers and then you guys saw underneath how i have you know some more papers and then my scissors and all those things and then underneath all of that are all of these little items here so that's how this system is gonna work until i can tackle this closet i meant for it to be part of today's video but i just it's a whole different undertaking right now and i think i'm just gonna honestly do it off camera there's just you know my office is a lot of like private stuff so it's kind of like tricky to film but i need to get it emptied out sorted out and then i'm gonna do even more storage system in there for my office so this is temporary and then when we open up this drawer here you can see i have like my cameras and i have all of my pc games in here this is kind of like i had to like really push this in here but you can see all of my games that i stacked in here and then again just my excess stuff and then my favorite feature are these drawers right here which i found them on amazon i knew i was gonna need something and i don't honestly know how i stumbled upon this but as you saw before it was just like an adhesive stick but they also provide the screws in case you want to screw it into your desk instead but this adhesive is actually very sturdy and i don't have anything in here that's that heavy so anyways you can see i have my pens i was keeping my remotes in here but i decided i didn't like that so i moved it up here and then yeah so you know everything's gonna keep moving around until i find what's the most functional for me and like these for example i put these specifically in this little bin because these are what i reach for most so this pen and these highlighters which are from dollar tree you guys know i'm obsessed like these are my favorite highlighters ever there's ever and i i just want more more and more because they're they're just that good and i just really like them i mean it's a highlighter like highlighters are highlighters but the fact that they were a dollar at the time and you know just makes me happy so anyways these are really awesome and by the way they also come in like multiple sizes there was like a set where you could get a large one and then like a smaller one but i went with the two mediums together and yeah the one thing i'll say is make sure when you are um i'll link them down below so when you're installing these for wherever make sure that the drawer comes out towards you because there's a stopper back here see that so you don't want to reverse install it and usually when i'm in here this is my view just like loxie which is so cute such a good memory um but yeah so here's what my desk looks like also i put these like mailers on top they just ended up fitting so for now it's a good solution but once i get this closet organized i'm gonna have a whole different system and i
