The Art of Recovery: A Day in the Life of a Mobile Mechanic
It was supposed to be an easy day, just another routine recovery job for our mobile mechanic crew. We were called out to assist a customer who had driven his side-by-side through some water and now it wouldn't run anymore. The vehicle was stuck on a trail in the middle of nowhere, and we were tasked with getting it back up to its owner's camp at Sand Hollow.
As we arrived on the scene, our crew quickly got to work assessing the situation. We could see that the trailer had sunk into the gravel, making it difficult to pull out. Our mechanic, Robbie, suggested using some boards under the tires to level it out, and Colin provided a weather report of 65 degrees with cloudy skies. With that information in hand, we set to work trying to free the side-by-side from its predicament.
We had to get creative, as the trailer was heavy and sinking into the gravel. We used some dunnage (a type of padding material) to support the underside of the trailer, and then carefully pulled it out from under the tires. It wasn't an easy job, but with the right tools and a bit of ingenuity, we managed to get the side-by-side back on solid ground.
After completing the recovery job at Sand Hollow, our crew received another call for help. This time, it was a razor that had broken down on the Western Trail, and we needed to figure out how to get it back on its way. The vehicle was still stuck in place, but we were determined to find a solution.
We arrived at the scene, and one of our crew members, Trev, reported that his tie rod had come loose. We quickly realized that this was an opportunity to learn a lesson about the importance of proper maintenance. With no cotter pins to keep everything secure, it was clear that someone needed to take responsibility for keeping their own equipment in good working order.
The plan was to limp the broken-down razor back up to the top of the World, where we could assess the damage and determine the best course of action. We were making progress, but not without a few bumps along the way. As we worked, our crew couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie, knowing that they were in it together.
As we continued on our journey to repair the razor, we encountered some unexpected challenges. The trail was windy, and sand was blowing everywhere. Our mechanic, Chanel, reported that she had gotten a nasty sunburn from rubbing her skin against trees while working in the elements. It was moments like these that reminded us of the importance of taking care of ourselves, both physically and mentally.
In the end, we managed to complete the repairs on the razor and get it back on its way. As we packed up our gear and headed back to the yard, our crew couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction with a job well done. Despite the challenges they had faced, they had persevered and come out victorious.
The day was far from over, however, as our crew still had one more job to complete before calling it quits. They were scheduled to meet up with a friend at Moto Zoo in the morning, and we knew that this would be the final adventure for our mobile mechanic crew for the day. As they made their way back to the yard, they couldn't help but feel grateful for another day of work well done and memories made along the way.

near new harmony area we're gonna head up there and see if we can get it out it's probably gonna get dark on us because it's getting late in the day we got a little bit of driving to do to get to it it is a beautiful day outside it's perfect 70 degrees sun shining no wind follow along for the ride good evening i mean you made it i did so this is the way to get in front of it right yep that's the alternate plan okay holy smokes yeah this is a lot of weight on this much incline that's for sure i was going to try jack knife in the morning i thought i might just get myself in more of a hole the issue that we have is that yard hydrant there has a small leak and it's wet on this other side and his soft spot all right fancy matt you got about three feet three feet oh i'm feeling pretty optimistic about pulling actually i think i'm going to do snatch walking yeah so go ahead and turn that off so you're just going to snatch it and try to pull it to the right the status block and a soft track yeah we're just gonna pull it let's get it up here as far as we can i think we made the driveway it gets back down a little bit you'll be fine well we made the first turn and i got here and then i just i was running my tire right here the trailer axles hit right behind you and it just sunk towards that tree all right hey you're ready can he take a second and crank his trailer up with the jack and throw some boards under that side this thing's getting pretty close to his bed oh yeah are we trying to get him underneath those wheels yeah just so it's not lean where's our 2x4 he's got him okay so this thing is heavy we got the a little bit of dunnage put under the that side of the trailer tires relocated the jeep we're pulling a different angle it's there okay so we're just going to pull you right up here on the level right yeah you got to issue the iron out here all right we're coming back this whole game was throttle control well i finally got the hang of it halfway up and that's the problem with the decent they come on soft and then they're up then they're too much i know one thing i do like about this well you have to double handle it to open it but once you do it is either way we'll get them found and we'll get them up out of here so i think we're gonna have to pull you backwards we don't want to pull you back into that i'll just nose up down there and we'll hook
