# Hannah's Reading Rush TBR List: A Journey Through Books and Challenges

## Introduction

Hannah is gearing up for the Reading Rush, an exciting read-a-thon hosted by Ariel and Raylene on Booktube. Having participated once or twice before, she finds it incredibly motivating. This year, the event has升级ed with a new website where participants can create profiles, track their reading progress, earn badges, and follow others. Hannah is eager to join this vibrant community and hopes it will help her overcome her recent reading slump.

## The Reading Rush Challenges

The Reading Rush offers various challenges designed to make reading engaging and fun. Participants can explore different genres and themes by completing tasks like reading a book with purple on the cover or a graphic novel in one spot. Hannah is excited to tackle these challenges while enjoying some of her favorite books.

## Book 1: Spinning by Tilly Walden

Hannah's first choice is "Spinning" by Tilly Walden, a graphic memoir about a competitive figure skater navigating her identity post-coming out. The book has been on her radar since its 2017 release, and she couldn't be more excited to finally read it. With its purple cover, it perfectly fits the challenge of reading a book with a specific color.

## Book 2: Are You Listening by Tilly Walden

Another graphic novel by Tilly Walden, "Are You Listening" is an advanced copy Hannah received earlier this year. Eager to explore this author's work further, she looks forward to being surprised by its content. This book will also fulfill the challenge of reading a book in one spot.

## Book 3: A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahere Mafi

Hannah is tackling the challenge of reading a book she meant to read last year with "A Very Large Expanse of Sea." Set post-9/11, this historical fiction novel follows a Muslim teen's experiences. After multiple attempts and recommendations, she is determined to finally immerse herself in this story.

## Book 4: Wicked Fox by Cat Chow

For the challenge of reading an author's first book, Hannah chose "Wicked Fox" by Cat Chow. This fantasy novel, set in Seoul and inspired by Korean mythology, features a nine-tailed fox protagonist. It also satisfies her interest in reading a book with a non-human main character.

## Book 5: The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys

Hannah's love for historical fiction shines through as she selects "The Fountains of Silence" by Ruta Sepetys, set during the Spanish Civil War. Despite its length, she is determined to tackle this epic tale and possibly explore more of Sepetys' work afterward.

## Book 6: When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore

This magical realism novel, featuring a trans main character, fits the challenge of reading a book with five or more words in its title. Hannah has long-awaited to read it and hopes to finish her previous attempt started in 2017.

## Book 7: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah (Placeholder)

For the movie adaptation challenge, Hannah is tentatively choosing "The Nightingale," though it doesn't have an adaptation yet. She plans to read it or possibly listen to its audiobook during the event, despite its length.

## Conclusion and Excitement for the Reading Rush

Hannah is thrilled about the Reading Rush, not just for the challenges but for reconnecting with her love for reading. She plans to vlog her journey, hoping it reignites both her reading and filming motivation. She invites viewers to join her on this adventure, share their TBR lists, and connect through social media.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys it's Hannah and today I am coming to you with my reading rush TBR so if you didn't know the reading rush is the new name for the booktubeathon which is a read-a-thon that happens here on booktube every year and I've participated I think once or twice in the past I can't remember but it is absolutely like my favorite read-a-thon I don't participate in many readathons but I really really love this one it was created by and it's hosted by Ariel and raylene and they put so much work and dedication into this read-a-thon every year and this year they have taken it to like a whole other level and it's honestly incredible so the reading rush now has like a website where you can like create an account I think you can like log how much you're reading or what books you're reading and you can follow other people and you can get like badges and stuff it's so cool I have created an account but I'm not too sure about how it works exactly but I'll leave a link to my profile in the description box if you would like to go and check out my profile also if any of you have made them please let me know like your username or something in the comments below because I would love to see who's participating in this read-a-thon and just see what you guys are reading because I'm just so excited for this I have been in a very like intense reading slump for quite some time now and I have needed something to get me out of it and the first time I participated in the reading rush I genuinely like felt so much motivation to read and it was so wonderful I also blocked that whole experience and I am planning on vlogging my experience this year as well the read-a-thon will be taking place between July 22nd and the 28th I'll leave all the info for it linked in the description box if you want to know more about it and want to know the specific challenges and just like all the details go and find the website and stuff like that raylene and ariel have a ton of videos on it explaining everything so I'll be sure to put them all in the description but yeah I am so so hyped to be participating this year I didn't get to participate last year and I was very sad about it and so I'm very excited to be doing it again this year and vlogging my whole experience and just getting a lot of good reading done so today I'm gonna be sharing with you guys the books that I'm planning on reading before the reading rush I am trying to follow the challenges but there are some that I just can't find books that I really want to read for at the moment and I don't want to force myself to read something I just don't feel like reading right now just for the sake of completing a challenge um so I do have seven books total but I have some books that fit multiple categories and some that just like I just picked a different book and I didn't try and complete a challenge but I'm okay with that as long as I just like read some of these books and enjoy it I will be happy so the first challenge is to read a book with purple on the cover and for this one I chose spinning by Tilly Walden I don't know too too much about this but I know that it is a graphic memoir about Tilly Walden's life as a competitive figure skater it's about her experience of growing up and coming out in that space and I've just heard fantastic fantastic things about it and I've been wanting to read it like since it came out in 2017 I think and I just have never gotten around to it and reading graphic novels is always super helpful during readathons because they're so fast and easy to get through so when you just need like a change of pace from reading some novels it's great to have them so I thought this would be a great one to include and the cover is purple pretty much entirely purple and white so it's perfect the next book on my TBR is actually another graphic novel by Tilly Walden so I only have two graphic novels that I'm planning on reading this year and both of them just happen to be by her but this other one is called are you listening and this is an advanced copy so this book doesn't come out until September I actually have absolutely no idea what this one is about I really just want to be surprised by this like I feel like this is the only book that I have on my TBR this year that I know almost nothing about and I just want to keep it that way all I really know is that I've heard it's very sad and I like sad stories so I think that I will probably enjoy this and I just wanted to try out something new something different when I forgot to mention the challenge that I'm using this one for is the second challenge which is to read a book in the same spot so you have to read an entire book in one place and I thought that using a graphic novel for that would be the best way to complete that challenge because let's say I choose to read outside like on the lawn chair and I don't want to sit out there and burn in the Sun for like two hours while reading a book I can just quickly read this graphic novel all in the same spot and finish it pretty quickly so I'm using this for that challenge next book on my TBR I'm using for the challenge of reading a book that you've meant to read last year and for me that is gonna be a very large expanse of sea by Taher Mafi I got the advanced copy of this book last year at Book Expo and book con and I never ended up reading it and then I was sent the finished copy still didn't read it but I've been wanting to read it for so long now and I'm finally going to take the time to actually read this book I think it's also a perfect book for the reading rush and just any read-a-thon because it's like fairly short it's three hundred and ten pages and that's gonna take me like two to three hours max to read so I think it should be fine I also chose like a couple of pretty long books as well so I wanted to choose some shorter books to kind of balance it out a little bit but yeah I'm super excited to read this it's about a Muslim girl living post 9/11 and her experiences as a Muslim teen and I just heard nothing but fantastic things about it everybody has loved this book so I'm really hoping to love it as well and I really want to try out a different Taher muffy book because I've only ever read the shadow me trilogy and it was not a fan of those so I really want to try out something else by her so I'm hoping that this ends up being a book that I really love so the fourth challenge is to read an author's first book so you can read like a 20-19 debut or you can read like the beautiful and the damned which is I think f scott Fitzgerald's first book I don't know whatever you want to do but for this one I've chosen to read our bookmarked book club Book of the Month for July that was such a tongue twister bookmarks book club Book of the Month bookmark book club book of the month that's so hard to say but anyway that book is wicked Fox by Cat Chow this is a fantasy novel that is set in Seoul and based off of Korean mythology and it follows our main character who is a nine-tailed Fox I believe so this also works for the category of reading a book with a main character who isn't human but it's supposed to have action and romance and I am so so excited that we chose this book for our book of the month in July and I can't wait to read it because it works perfectly for the reading rush too like the timing is just excellent so the next category is the one that I just mentioned which is a book with a nonhuman main character and I'm just going to be using wicked Fox to fulfill that category as well but since I don't have like another book for that I just wanted to pick another book because I do want to try and read seven books so the other book that I just wanted to read that does not fit this category whatsoever it is The Fountains of silence by Rudisill Petty's this is another advance copy and this book comes out in October but this is a historical fiction novel about the Spanish Civil War and that is quite literally the only thing I know about it but that's all I need to know because I love historical fiction I love historical fiction about the Spanish Civil War so I am so so excited to read this I've heard nothing but fantastic things about Rudess Petty's writing and I do also have her other book salt to the sea and I haven't read that yet but I just kind of wanted to start with this one since it comes out in October and I would like to read it before then this one is definitely on the longer side I think it's like close to 500 pages yeah it is 488 pages so it is definitely a bit of a longer one - maybe not the best choice for a read-a-thon but I just really feel like reading historical fiction right now so I'm gonna take advantage of that and definitely try and make my way through this one but I am very excited to see what I think about this and if I really loved it I cannot wait to read her other books as well so challenge number six is to read a book with five or more words in the title and for that one I chose when the moon was ours by Anna Marie McLean more this is one that actually also works for the challenge of read a book you meant to read last year because I've been meaning to read this for literally so long and I just haven't I have loved pretty much every single book I've read by Anna really more especially the weight of feathers that's my favorite one but I really really want to read this one because I have a feeling I will absolutely love this one as well I have started it before actually I think that I started reading it it might have actually been for the booktubeathon in 2017 if that's the case that's really embarrassing but I've read like 30 pages of this book and I haven't read it for like two years but here we are two years later I'm planning on actually finishing it but also starting from the very beginning again because it's been two years that's so much all I know about this is that it's magical realism and it's another romance and I'm pretty sure one of the main characters is trans and that's all I really know about it I don't really know too much I don't like knowing too much about magical realism books because I think it's really fun to just see them unfold and I think knowing too much kind of gives the world away which is the most fun part of magical realism but like I said I cannot wait to read this one and this is another one that I think is on the shorter side yeah it's under 300 pages it is 260 270 pages so that's the perfect length for a read-a-thon again another book I can probably read in like two hours and I really really hope that I love it I love the cover I love both versions of it but this is my favorite version of the cover and lastly the very last challenge is to read a book that has a movie adaptation and then watch the movie adaptation and for some reason this is the category I struggled with the most I'll probably get to like the week of the reading rush and I'll think of a book that works perfectly for this that I want to read and then maybe I will read that book but for right now I have a placeholder of a book that I want to read and that is the nightingale by Kristen Hanna this is not a book that has a movie adaptation so I'm not like trying to necessarily complete this challenge but this is just a book that I have been wanting to read for such a long time again another historical fiction book this time I think it's about world war ii and i think it's set in paris and it follows the story of two sisters i have heard nothing but fantastic things about it haley loves this book she's recommended it to me countless times and i can't wait to finally read it i might listen to this one on audiobook since i haven't chosen an audiobook at all to listen to an audio books really really helped me during readathons also because this one's like super long so the audiobooks probably like 12 hours or something this book is 564 pages so again super long probably not the best choice for a read-a-thon but this is just one of the placeholder ones that I have for now or my potential audiobook before the read-a-thon but there you all have it that's pretty much it for my reading rush TBR like I said this is a pretty flexible TBR for me because as we know I am the most moody reader of all time I will wear that title I am just so picky with my reading and I cannot stick to TBR's so I will probably change this around by the time the reading rush comes around and I'll probably think of a book that has a movie adaptation that I feel like reading by then who knows but for the most part and we think I'm gonna try and stick to most of these books at least the ones that I found definite categories for I think will be ones that I will read for sure but nonetheless I am just so so excited for this read-a-thon to begin I cannot wait I'm so excited to vlog it and hopefully it just gives me my reading motivation and my filming motivation back that's what I'm really hoping to get out of this reading rush please let me know in the comments down below if you're participating as well also let me know if there's anything that you would specifically like to see in any of my daily vlogs or even if there's like a book that you really think that I should read that fits one of these categories that I don't have a book for yet please let me know that too because maybe I will take your recommendation since I clearly don't know what to read also once again I will leave the links for all the info for the reading rush in the description box below as well as the link to my reading rush profile if you want to go on there and follow me I don't know if you can follow people on there but if you can or if you just want to see it my link will be there I know I've been kind of absent from YouTube recently like I said I've just been going through a lot recently and a lots been changing and I've just been in a very weird place so I haven't been super active and I apologize for that I am gonna try and be more consistent from now on with content because I think it's something that's important to me and something I really need so thank you for being patient with me but if you'd like to follow me on any of my social media all my links are in the description box as always obviously I've been active on Instagram monthly Instagram stories so if you do want to keep up to date with stuff you can follow me there or even if I'm not here but again thank you all so much for watching I hope you enjoyed and I will see you in my next video byehey guys it's Hannah and today I am coming to you with my reading rush TBR so if you didn't know the reading rush is the new name for
