The keyboard boasts Bluetooth connectivity which is great from a compatibility standpoint. I can't see this being in most people's primary connection form, but for connecting up to an iPad or a laptop or even a phone in a pinch it's gonna be particularly useful. Slipstream tempo is going to be the connection choice for most people and rightly so with a one millisecond response time its superb and that makes all the difference from game in to type-in you really can't notice the difference between a wireless and wired keyboard in this sense.
The final thing that really stood out to me with this keyboard's feature set is the Capella -kx at RGB LEDs. You're able to turn these on or off using this switch here and there are three different brightness modes that you can toggle through. I first looked at Corsair's Capell extent in my review of their Dominator platinum RGB and was very, very impressed. This keyboard is the brightest of any keyboard I've used to date and I've had hands-on with quite a few Corsair keyboards, claims 60% brighter than traditional LEDs and in all honesty, I believe them. It really is bright and you definitely have to turn these down with late night gaming sessions because they can be a distraction.
Corsair has taken the coolermaster route when it comes to RGB with this keyboard. You can either use their fantastic IQ software which is available for Windows and allows individual perky customization with a massive array of included effects, or you can use the FN keys and the number keys to switch through a number of presets. I find really, really useful particularly if you're moving this to different computers that haven't got the software or Bluetooth mode it's also going to be particularly handy for Linux and Mac users. Just getting out of really home but no I do like this approach. You don't lose anything by having the additional control method on the keyboard itself.
The gaming keyboard staples are present with windows lock functionality to prevent any accidental clicks while in game, as well as eight key rollover and full anti-ghosting, not quite empty roll over. The more budget-friendly keyboard has some major criticisms. The only real major criticism might have with this keyboard comes down to its size. Now James just a minute ago you were complimenting the macro keys, the number pad, or the media keys, what's wrong with you? Now as much as I like this full-size form factor and functionality, the border around the keyboard is pretty large and that top area here is massive it's also quite fitted as far as keyboards are concerned. I understand that's because you've got to get in the wireless technology as well as the batteries, would this be in a wireless keyboard? The only other thing for me is micro USB rather than USB, see that's a real disappointment and really the price differentiation between the two connection standards isn't overly large so I think Corsair has let themselves down just a little bit on that one.
Without being said though, it's caveat time. For foreshadowing word that I mentioned earlier on in today's video. The biggest caveat with this budget keyboard is that it's not actually mechanical. Now hold your horses for a moment. Corsair aren't marketing this as mechanical which is ten steps above the cheaper brands that say it's mechanical when it's really not. This is a rubber dome keyboard and by far the best rubber dome keyboard I've ever tried. I really, really like the fast-paced fighting gaming nature on this keyboard. The key presses are a little violent to come back up at once they pin it actuated it can throw you off to begin with. There's a light and tactile feel there's not very much wobble in the keys either which is much appreciated.
Most of the time it's nice and quiet and it does feel good to gain on typing on. The only other thing I'd say if I'm being really picky is that the wrist rest is a bit plastic fantastic. It's quite tapped out after a couple of weeks of use with all those little bits of criticism aside though this keyboard has actually really, really impressed me and I'm going to say it in bold here: it's converted me at least for now away from a mechanical keyboard. I've really enjoyed the widest functionality it's proven to be way more useful than I'd first anticipated.
All in all I'm pretty damn impressed. I will leave this keyboard in the description below if you would like to pick it up and as always make sure to get subscribed if you haven't already with that notification about satisfyingly doomed so you'll never miss another video. As always though, thank you very much for watching and we'll see you in the next Ki Co-op video.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat is up guys welcome back to another geek awhat video and today you join me for my first review video in what age is actually and there's good reason for that when Corsair approached me and said they'd created a soft $100 full-sized fully RG beat up to the hilt and fully wireless gaming keyboard I thought I've gotta have a look at this really other than I could this K 57 Wireless because has best value product ever or is there a caveat or two or three or four involved let's dive in and take a look now with six fully programmable macro keys on the left hand side a standard Pollock keyboard layout with full-size number pad and dedicated media control keys at the top right of the keyboard this certainly isn't scraping on features and when you add that to course as slipstream wireless technology which allows this miniscule dongle to connect to a keyboard mouse and headset simultaneously so one dongle all three devices it seemed like a very attractive
