how it's gonna handle it's ridiculous not only that if you look at how the zo6 and the zora or the zr1 whatever they're gonna call it those cars are gonna be some of the fastest cars in the world which is just absolutely insane it was always safe to buy a Corvette it was always the safe choice for a modification or going fast or anything along those lines performance wise it was always a no brainer the Corvette was always the safe choice but then you had the people going oh but there's too many of them so I don't like it as much that's why I want to be different well the only saving grace I think of the other two cars I mentioned is people wanting to be different so let's dig in and deep dive on the two cars and why I think they potentially might be in trouble right now let's start with the Supra the Supra only has 1500 of them on sale right now and they're all sold out and every single one of them sold for over sticker price sticker price already was $55,000 for the launch edition it's gonna be 49,000 for the base model but you and I both know they're gonna mark them up by 10 or 20 thousand dollars dealer markups are just I just don't understand anymore like and people wonder why they're not selling sports cars that racing channel down in Florida just put went down a drag strip and it did mid 12s right around like twelve five or something here's the thing though almost ten years ago now when the coyote five-o came out it was running mid 12s on a perfect day scenario so if you're going for straight-line speed Corvettes already got you if you're going for handling stuff like that it's gonna be debatable the chassis of the Supra is absolutely magnificent and it was a pleasant surprise when I totally destroyed that car for years of what it kind of represented for a long time but now I was kind of on Team Supra but now it's really hard I don't even know how to feel anymore I will say the horsepower of figures of the Supra don't add up they just don't I mean the Supra feels faster than what it says on paper and that's a good thing another thing about the super though over the c8 Corvette if you want to argue you and I both know the aftermarket is gonna absolutely be immense for this car the Corvette of course is gonna have supercharger kits and twin turbos and all that kind of stuff performance wise but here's the thing though you're kind of at a cap when it comes to visual aesthetics so look at the SIA Corvette you kind of go oh well there's not much I could do to it aesthetically the Supra though has tons of possibility of messing with it aesthetically and you can make it look prettier more wild or anything like that when it comes to personalization the Supra will have the edge on the Corvette there's no doubt about it and I have a car that waited a little too long to come out that's one thing the hype is kind of all over the place for the Supra and now just like the independence day ship it's overshadowing it literally the Corvette literally stole the spotlight from the Supra everybody was excited to look at the Supra and possibly buy one when you're in $50,000 already you're already in the territory of the Corvette now I'm not saying that everybody can afford the CA Corvette compared to say a base-model Supra that is a big difference $11,000 $10,000 it's a lot of money but most people in that realm if they're gonna buy a sports car they're gonna look at the Corvette and see it as a no-brainer I also feel as though the c8 Corvette is gonna be a big youtuber car if that makes sense I feel like a lot of youtubers are gonna all buy c8 Corvette all at once and then we're gonna kind of see what they do to each one but another reason why I'm kind of questioning the see a Corvette a little bit it's like buying a new iPhone right the first year is always concerning the moment you buy the first year of a new platform there's always little tiny gremlins or little things that they need to work out the first year of a brand new sports car is like a beta test they're seeing what they need to refine in what to test and make it better so there might be a lot of those cases but we don't know a car that I think might even have a bigger issue against the Corvette whether it's the base model the zo6 or the Zora zr1 is unfortunately the Shelby gt500 the Shelby gt500 there's no doubt about it it's gonna be probably the best Mustang ever made you know it's gonna have over 700 horsepower it's gonna handle the thing is is that it's gonna be starting probably around 72 thousand dollars and there's even some people who have pre-ordered the Shelby gt500 going to ninety to a hundred K for a Mustang I don't know what it is I mean I understand about making the perfect Mustang I get that I understand that but at the same time you're completely away from the main consumer who buys your car Shelby gt350 it was supposed to be priced at 54 I think off the top of my head I think was MSRP or the recommended price people were buying them for 6270 why companies wonder why they can't sell these cars just like what happened with the Focus RS they sat on Lots they collected dust because they charge 30 K over sticker for a hatchback now to a normal consumer if you'd priced the GT 500 in that 50 K mark or the 60 K mark you would have customers test driving the gt500 and customers test driving the Corvette during the same time he's gonna be an amazing car there's no doubt about it but seventy two thousand dollars I don't know man I'm actually rooting for all three companies it sounds weird it's a very interesting dynamic but I know how hard the Ford engineers worked on the GT 500 and I just don't want their work to be unnoticed and overshadowed if the price is just too expensive the Corvette has also been argued over the years as evolving from say a American sports car to a muscle car but also to even potentially a supercar of the c5 s and the C sixes were fun to drive but their interior was awful but then the c7 came out and they fixed a lot of that it was a really fun car to drive with magnetic ride and everything else I came with it but at the same time stingrays when they came out people were buying for 72 and now they depreciated like crazy the rumor in that the zr1 or the Zora is gonna be pushing 800 to a thousand horsepower to the point that they had trouble ensuring the car to the point they couldn't find an insurance company to insure the potential car on paper that's how crazy fast this car is going to be see a Corvette is exactly what the NSX should have been harsh but the NSX was out of everybody's price range for the most part that appealed to that market and only that I always had theorized that the NSX the newer one should have been a simple mid engined manual if possible if not whatever but like $50,000 car you know what I mean should have been in that where people have been like oh my gosh the NSX is back not oh my gosh the NSX is back and I saw it at a car show and I'll never see it again Chevy has pulled something off that has been rumored for years it's incredible I have to give them props on all their hard work it looks incredible in my opinion and they have a color that's pretty close to like grabber blue that's pretty rad it's just gonna be interesting you know it's gonna be interesting to see what happens
