How to Send and Receive Emoticons from Your iPhone on Android
Hey guys, it's David from the Unlocker Comm, and today we're gonna show you how to send and receive emoticons which are also called emoji from iPhones on your Android phone. So, the first thing you need to do is go to the market.
Once you're in the market, we're going to search for "Go SMS Pro" because it's a messaging application that's going to replace your current one. This new app is free, so just tap on it and click install. Wait for that to completely install, as this will take a little time.
After installing Go SMS Pro, we're then going to install the emoji plugin called "Go SMS Pro Emoji Plugin". This plugin is what's going to allow us to actually use the emoticons when talking to iPhones or other people who also have this app. To get the emoji plugin, type in "go SMS" again and add "emoji" behind it. This will give you the Go SMS Pro Emoji Plugin.
You'll then click on that, install it, and wait for it to complete as well. Now that we have both of those apps installed – the Go SMS Pro app and the Go SMS Pro Emoji Plugin – let's go into our normal messaging app. We're going to click on "Menu" at the bottom left corner and then select "Settings".
Scroll down to the bottom of the settings page where it says "Notifications". Now, we need to turn those off because the new messaging app that we're about to use will notify you whenever you get a text message, and the issue is that so will your old one. You'll get double notifications for everything unless you turn that off.
So, now we've turned off the notifications on our old messaging app. We need to replace all of our messaging app icons with our new Go SMS Pro icon. For example, if you have a messaging app with this icon on your home screen, hold it down and drag it out. Replace it wherever you want, so that way, you can seamlessly start using the new messaging app the same exact way you would the old one.
You'll never have to touch the old one again; just use this one instead. Now, when you send a normal text message, you'll click on the Go SMS app. There's really no difference between sending a text message with our original messaging app versus using Go SMS Pro – it works very much the same way.
In fact, Go SMS Pro has some extra features that you can go into Menu and check out. But why we're here is because it has the emoji plugin. To send an emoji, tap in here now. You'll see your keyboard like you normally do. Hit back on your keyboard, and at the bottom, you'll see these little icons.
These first smiley faces are for use between Android devices. If you want to send an Android user one of these, you can do it from there. But for iPhones, you're going to click on the next one. This gives you all of the emojis that your iPhone buddies are familiar with – you can click on any of them, and there's a whole bunch of them.
You can start using those instead.
