expecting too much out of this thing it's a 1.6 there's no modifications done to it it's got like stock wheels and tires speaking of Wheels if you specifically have tees in an 18x 9 1/2 plus zero offset please sell them to me uh I've been looking forever and it's impossible to find them I am Tony lond I am the showrunner of real mechanic stuff and my car is the one and only Aston Miata this car is a 93 na that's been engine swapped from a 16 to A8 and its most striking feature is this goofy looking body kit that is kind of all of the Aston Martins all at once this body kit was made by this wacky guy in Australia who made a bunch of money in the fitness industry and he commissioned this body kit uh 10 of them were made only four of them got built two of those four one of them is in Germany and then the only other one in the world is this thing came up on Facebook Marketplace some years ago and it was very controversial in fact on r/ Miata there are some people trying to get a Indiegogo campaign going to buy the thing so that they could burn it a lot of people hate this car a lot of people think it's kind of sick the Aston Miata yeah it exists it's green that's it that's of is I do have uh fake rotus slips mumo steering wheel fortune 500 coilovers a subwoofer in the back for traction and I have a hybrid racing short shifter so it's pretty dialed in it's got the uh M20 B27 engine so it's it's the biggest displacement six-cylinder engine that came in e30s also the lowest horsepower so it's slow it's an automatic it's got AC 30 mpg on the highway it looks sick Tim's car is from 1987 mine is from 2007 that's a 20year gap I'm hoping that helps me out so much that and uh Tim doesn't have VTEC so good luck Tim all right coming to the lanes we've got Tim Tim's put a Francisco drove it back on rotted tires and had this thing on jack stands for like 3 weeks it's got full polyurethane front suspension it's got a full Spool in the rear that means I got lock diff it's got a single overhead cam 1.6 L 2tc engine in it which is not that great but look at this thing it's not revving past like 2500 rpm right now so I'm a little worried but you know we're going to do our best and we're just happy to be here in my initial Dy mentality I am clearly a street racer and I'm clearly going to best this dude's 280Z with my 94 horsepower I think 74k C plus I think his car is not even running right I think I saw a black smoke earlier so I'm a little worried I don't know what's up with that but man that Z looks good fastest looking car here i' say Alex has been having some donut I've been working at Donut for almost 6 years now I started in 2018 I was the editor for bumper to bumper I became the showrunner for D before eventually transitioning into the creative director role and this is my s52 swap BMW E30 I've had this car for almost 15 years I got in high school when I was 17 years old paid $200 for it and it had a broken transmission it was missing a bunch of body panels and over the course of the last 15 or so years I've basically done everything on it from suspension uh steering rack interior sound system Wheels currently the big thing is I just got an s52 swap in done by Castro Motorsports over here in Los Angeles California also I'm a I'm a little degenerate stance boy so uh the tires rub I've had this car since it was you know a a clap do box and I've slowly built it up over the years into something that I'm really happy to drive and I'm I'm super proud of my name is Adam AKA shop Daddy and I the technical producer and the shop director at donut media and this is my zanki S14 I literally found this outside sitting in the dust I bothered the owner of the car for like 4 years and brought it back to life so not only is this a barn find it is also one of the very first s14s brought into the United States this is number 38 so the car's got a lot of basic volt on which makes it really really fun it's got some coilovers it's got all the control arms it's got upgraded radiator it's got a couple strut bars and and a swirl pot headers an exhaust a seat and a steering wheel and it just provides nothing but smiles bottom line I beat Adam last time in the daily driver drag race I'm going to beat him again yeah he's got a nice fancy uh Pro drift car that he's off uh you know got 800 horsepower or whatever somewhere in St Louis right now but uh that's not what he BR he BR his uh his stock S14 and I'm afraid that's not going to cut it at him honestly I think he's going to he's going to take this he's got a motor swap in that thing it makes 200 something horsepower it's a stock a in here but I'm going to give it a hell and I'm going to do the best I can okay everybody big old Showdown Adam is about to get his ass absolutely walked all right smooth is fast smooth as oh yeah this is drag racing never mind all right coming to the lanes right now we got Max Maddox in that left lane Adam kic in the right lane this might be an upset here is my 1974 Toyota Corolla Deluxe what's up I'm Alex I'm a director at donut and this is my 1977 doson 280Z I love this thing it's not perfect it's beat up uh it's got the original drivetrain so that means it has an l28 I bought it from San Francisco drove it back on rotted tires and had this thing on jack stands for like 3 weeks it's got full polyurethane front suspension it's got a full Spool in the rear that means I got lock diff it's got a single overhead cam 1.6 L 2tc engine in it which is not that great but look at this thing it's not revving past like 2500 rpm right now so I'm a little worried but you know we're going to do our best and we're just happy to be here in my initial Dy mentality I am clearly a street racer and I'm clearly going to best this dude's 280Z with my 94 horsepower I think 74k C plus I think his car is not even running right I think I saw a black smoke earlier so I'm a little worried I don't know what's up with that but man that Z looks good fastest looking car here i' say Alex has been having some running issues right he has had some mechanical issues so far today he ever just got the car in the road can we get a round of applause for Heber guys catfish I think is going to be tough competition for the Miata it definitely makes more power but it obviously weighs a lot more too so I'm racing Joby and The Money Pit Miata I'm not real worried about that thing it's uh kind of a piece of junk I think it'll probably blow up uh knowing that Jerry is an official race car driver uh does not make me nervous at all he's really a YouTuber that got handed a racing spot so he doesn't scare me at all I hate losing does this look like a guy who likes losing no oh also the person I really want to beat everyone all right in the tower Lane you've got Jeremiah Burton in the catfish tomaro and in the left lane we've got Zachary job with The Money Pit Miata both cars fully staged line faster Jerry I got you money pit they leaving the catfish in the catfish didn't slang it fast enough but it's okay she did pretty good I'm pretty happy first time I ever be out a drag strip with this sucker um and I had the AC on the whole time so that's pretty good I maybe should have turned it off but I don't think that would have mattered I think Joy would have beat me regardless next it's Max and his BMW E30 racing Adam in his Nissan S14 hey my name is Max I'm the creative director director at donut I've been working at Donut for almost 6 years now I started in 2018 I was the editor for bumper to bumper I became the showrunner for D before eventually transitioning into the creative director role and this is my s52 swap BMW E30 I've had this car for almost 15 years I got in high school when I was 17 years old paid $200 for it and it had a broken transmission it was missing a bunch of body panels and over the course of the last 15 or so years I've basically done everything on it from suspension uh steering rack interior sound system Wheels currently the big thing is I just got an s52 swap in done by Castro Motorsports over here in Los Angeles California also I'm a I'm a little degenerate stance boy so uh the tires rub I've had this car since it was you know a a clap do box and I've slowly built it up over the years into something that I'm really happy to drive and I'm I'm super proud of my name is Adam AKA shop Daddy and I the technical producer and the shop director at donut media and this is my zanki S14 I literally found this outside sitting in the dust I bothered the owner of the car for like 4 years and brought it back to life so not only is this a barn find it is also one of the very first s14s brought into the United States this is number 38 so the car's got a lot of basic volt on which makes it really really fun it's got some coilovers it's got all the control arms it's got upgraded radiator it's got a couple strut bars and and a swirl pot headers an exhaust a seat and a steering wheel and it just provides nothing but smiles bottom line I beat Adam last time in the daily driver drag race I'm going to beat him again yeah he's got a nice fancy uh Pro drift car that he's off uh you know got 800 horsepower or whatever somewhere in St Louis right now but uh that's not what he BR he BR his uh his stock S14 and I'm afraid that's not going to cut it at him honestly I think he's going to he's going to take this he's got a motor swap in that thing it makes 200 something horsepower it's a stock a in here but I'm going to give it a hell and I'm going to do the best I can okay everybody big old Showdown Adam is about to get his ass absolutely walked all right smooth is fast smooth as oh yeah this is drag racing never mind all right coming to the lanes right now we got Max Maddox in that left lane Adam kic in the right lane this might be an upset big his was way milkier than mine okay here we go baby oh big spin from both cars but we're seeing Max kind of take off no Max he got me yeah first chop in the whip one of many the first round is over next we're going to seed the bracket using everybody's times the fastest will now face the slowest next is Max versus heavy so heber's car uh is right next to me and it stinks it's a stinky car and I don't know how to describe it other than it smells bad all right I am hopped up on energy drinks and I'm ready to rock and roll woo big upset on the table so max you know Max just finished up that BMW that new engine sounding great under the hood he's trying to get to that final round let's see if he can do it peber deep stage Max spinning the tires off the line let's go come on very similar reaction times from both drivers with Max leaving he is there ke David but Max with a no my face y maybe next time the little crow that could the people's champ is outclassed by that Bavarian classic and Max moves on next up is Jimmy versus Steph there's a huge power difference here so let's see if the miata's weight Advantage can pull off a win Jimmy Hilton got a big job ahead of him in this round right now if he has any hope of winning he needs to absolutely destroy Stephanie in the reaction time Department really I never thought I would ever drag race a Miata but this is where my journey ends unless she's messes up the start so we'll see I don't know Jimmy fully stage let's go jimmyy bur down the tree Jimmy with an few sacrificial Subarus you've got an svx drive shaft you've got Miata rear coil s and Outback Legacy front coilovers one of my tactics for today is less grip if I break traction first then I won't break parts if I have loose grip then my axles are saved and then that tension can't go to my gears so those can't break something's going to spin and it won't be internal Justin in that left lane Justin's got some Toyota F FRS wheels on there with some less grippy tires the car is all-wheel drive old car is launching just got the better launch out of the box there fipe doesn't really stand a chance I'm sorry to say Justin with a 97 737 oh I was in Focus mode sorry about that um so I haven't gone in a while been watching the competition hey and uh I so I unintentionally sandbagged so I our times all day we knew from weeks ago that we'd be close together cuz we're running similar power to weight the only real difference is our gearing and I'm all will drive uh there is a very good chance that Justin can beat me he will beat me off the line he's got all-wheel drive I have been losing Traction in the whole shot so it's really going to be important that I don't uh rev bomb it too
