it's a double box one yeah except basically the the rear ones are wrong front is same rear ones are just for like a different honda or some description i don't know exactly which one so many hondas martin are you loving it where's our s2000 i mean that we never owned someone out there's got it someone's got our s15 someone's got the gtir i was going to say we could try and bile buy all these things back except we don't have enough money the coilovers look exactly the same as the last ones except that's different hold that this is what it has on it what ah and it's a fork type if you want to make your honda go really fast oh you get spoon stuff that was very clever well let's just take one of these one they can read a little spoon get one of these what am i getting spoonie see oh i'm getting spooned so much we've got some of those for our slam-tastic civic it's not going to be slam-tastic it's going to be like trap-tastic so there's our coil-overs and the other thing i got which you know what you don't we don't really need them but i just think they look really cool and it goes into my theory before of if you can replace it with some mad stuff yeah it's not overly expensive and replaces all your flogged out old bushings and looks sick that's awesome and that's what we're going to do so we've got some of the lower control arms we've also got front control arms and that's the stuff that we're going to be putting in today to get our car drive line what's the brand viagra race it's a weird brand name isn't it sort of um yeah so to get our driveline all sorted and get the car rolling again the other thing we have is brakes but not these ones because these are non-base model as i understand it because i'm still learning honda these are non-base model already and do you know where these are going in the bin that's right look over here martin it's time to get big what i love about this it just it makes me very very happy is look you can even just see look at the size increase look at that button and what i love about that is that is a budget brake upgrade because they are from crv a crv so those so crv is like a good civic isn't it oh careful man isn't it you've got to be careful i thought crvs were all-wheel drive uh yes and like big brakes yeah but they're suvs i know but people reckon they're better than civics for that reason if you're pulling stuff off and to put them on your civic obviously it's better we've also got the kit down here martin which adapts them to make them work so you've got i don't know what's in there i'm not even gonna pretend you got a space stuff like this a bit of a recipe that we're gonna work out but we've got our are these some performance spaces in here yeah i guess so um we've got our calipers that we can put on and we have where are they brake lines because we actually just don't have brake lines to suit um pacific to suit what we're trying to do and there it is everybody um we actually have even though we're going to be doing this we do have a whole video on how to install braided brake lines so you can check that out as well so that looks like not a lot of stuff but it's still going to keep us fairly busy because we are going to be putting our new arms in there we should do that first we should do that first yes because that will be fun and we've also we need brake lines because we actually have nothing we just have this crusty old thing here and that needs to attach to my friend's uh little arrangement this little and still smells like donkey gooch still smells the same all right martin let's just get right into it mate are you ready there's one other thing we have to do what do we got martin we have to because um our gooches are broken oh gooches which is what these are called yes um because they are well the reason i didn't know they were cold with this but the reason apparently is because it's the bald ball joint that could actually be our ball joints being dropped off right now yes brand new set of gooches so we basically just hammer those old ones out you can press them out there's a few different techniques um but we've got to get the old ball joints out and put the new guccis in and then we can reconstruct the front of our car as well we're going to start at the back you start there we'll both start at the back and end up at the front nice awesome and then the next job after the car is kind of back together and doing its thing again then we are over to here uh we do have a new uh exedy clutch that's going in so we'll pull this apart we don't know uh what parts are still required here that we don't have so that is also something to work out and um i need to put a new clutch in my my vtec mini as well so i'm looking forward to i'm looking forward to getting involved in that yeah so that i can do my mini when it comes to it looks like stuff's missing apparently like looms that still work are worth big money because you just can't get them anymore okay uh so we have to work out what if our loom still works we're gonna upgrade and replace a few bits and pieces where we can use fuel rail perhaps and some other stuff but before we get party with that we want to make sure that once the motor is in the car will actually move and roll so let's do that now yep and then there's exciting things to do still mum we got to work out what wheels are going on yeah we've got there's there's many things there's interior things to do it looks pretty festy still it's not pretty it doesn't look like we've done much but we've spent hours on it already we're getting there yep send it up mate perfect where's that one this has some the bottom end has some washers or some spacers just to get it right loose and then we put some spacer thingies have you noticed stuff's just going missing lately like it's actually a little bit creepy i don't like it the the room looks different to how we're in here last time not very long ago and things have moved that we did not move yeah and tools have gone missing that we did not make go missing i like it i think it's a bit creepy fancy blue control arms going in pretty lightweight although the factory one looks pretty lightweight too being that it's just like folded two mil steel yeah um these look pretty sick there we go yeah dude easy yep that's awesome loose that one in and then we'll do the same with this but there's some little spacers on that one just needs a little thing or not yet i'm just giving a little just to hold him in there okay cool and now this boiler needs to go over that one can that come down or you want to try and push it up well i'll push this i've already wound the coil over down a little bit probably at the moment it'll be sitting higher than we'll ever run up just clean the front yep let me get the nut on the back see if you can push it through it should just go straight through you just hit it there we go that's through and then we've got a nut that comes with the kit that goes in the back because the factory one is a captive nut and there's our there's our rear suspension dude that is just i think we've also got though before i get too carried away i think we also have a brace of some description oh it's not a honda tell it's got a brace on it dude what's this thing i don't know man let's put this on all right let's do the other side and then do that i reckon that connects these two together or like i think it does it's got like heavy duty sway bar mounts we've got a sway bar for the back of it man dude it's all about the performance so good all right let's go there he goes that way stick a nut on the top hang on did you just pull the hair out of the back of my leg yeah dude i'm going in that way what's happening just need our hammer mate look at your mallet it's going to be a malay i wonder if that word comes from because melee isn't that a french word that means to like hit something i think so i can think about that like what the word gamers would know because they'd be like you're right click my lead all right because i've got to get your washers the words score and the word scar have got to come from the same place right like if you score a piece of wood you're going to aunt put a mark on it and if you've got a scar then you've got like that's it's got to come from the same place anyway that's not why we're here but i think about these things sometimes can you mandangle that you should be able to just push that whole hub out of it there you go ah there it is it's good eh i'm thoroughly enjoying the honda rear suspension it's amazing it's like nice lego put that one in there and then you've got your oh here's your nut for the other side all the stuff you gave me i lost it oh did you drop it yeah it's there somewhere i heard it hit the ground but now it's gone like everything else is gone oh i got it here we go got our performance shims that that's neat is excellent all right we should work out this bracy stuff because it might make it look even more epic so martin this item here is going to stiffen up our car good less flex and better for performance and hard cornering good i hope we're doing some hard cornering in this be very interested to see how it goes so rear sway bars on civics are not completely necessary is my understanding when you're starting to make them fast but you also can fine tune your handling with a rear sway bar which should stop the front under steering that's the rumor we'll see what happens we can always take it off but let's install it while we've got everything out and all our tools out let's see what happens arms get out of the way for the minute and then this brace goes on here and picks up on a bunch of those factory holes oh it does look good it does look good i know exactly how it fits hopefully it does fit no it looks right we'll work it out it looks like that is going to go up here that way and then those holding that on like that yeah man some links or something somewhere that makes it all work something that we don't have for over here though cool we'll get it i don't think we've got these links here so we'll just leave that off until we work out whether we do have them or whether they've been taken sway bar goes in the later on file right there see all that racing looks mad that look at it dude looks sick looks awesome if i was driving behind that do you know what i'd think you'd think you're about to get chopped yep that's exactly what i'd think this is the upper adjustable control arm little pins and we are starting to get all the parts and stuff together we need for the front that is the front right and that is the front left this car is going to be a track wep martin is going to be wet it's going to be a wet it's going to be amazing man i think it's going to be really fun to drive we're going to need a rambo wang absorption cloth okay so handbrake brace is going back in that's mad because it's just from a hot more up market classier civic and so it all just sort of bolts in and snaps in which is really cool so they get attached like that i've got to wind the handbrake the whole way out to make this work i've already bolted in under the car but any tension on it and you're gonna have a bad day which is what i'm having at the moment because it's not working go get in there come on yes boom handbrake bolts in job done so this is our camber adjustment right marty yeah so the upper arms and they actually go that way with that ball joint facing down and yeah we're going to set that to the middle because we don't know exactly how everything's going to affect it we don't know what the position everything's going to be so we'll have to get that properly set up later anyway yeah for sure so we'll and when everything's adjustable you just have to you've got to you've got to pick a point just go for it it'll be the same with our coilovers but by setting them to the middle we'll do this on the other side at least they are the same we can work them in the car so that's pretty cool all new bushes good to go and looks cool too there are many different ways to skin this cat there's special vicey tools you can get to get the ball joint out a lot of people just hit him with hammers that's what you do at home if you don't have specialized tools you get a socket on there and you just whack it till it comes out sometimes i have a circlip hondas are sort of similar but not all the same we're just going to work it out smash it if we have to press it if that doesn't work and try not to damage anything wish us luck wait there's the old crusty crusty gooch so we're using this whole hub someone has already upgraded that hubs which means we can use our crv calipers which is awesome this is where you would change wheel bearings if you had any problems with them but these feel quite good um except for the uh the drilled out bolt that oh yes oh winning there we go good as new reconditioned um it's a bit rusty and cruddy is what we're going to do is spray it with some brake and part cleaner we're going to give the inside of this board just a little bit of a tidy up just in case there's anything that catch because when we are trying to bash in our new ball joint yes you can press it in yes there's probably a special honda tool for doing this but you press it in from that side so we just clean it up with some really fine grit sandpaper and just make sure that that is nice and clean clean off any surface rust chop up our gloves on the sharp bit which means with no point wearing gloves at all anyway and then smash our new ball joint back through i wouldn't exactly call that a fun job but it's in um maybe use a specialty tool if you have access to one because the ham is a bit of a agricultural way to make that work but it works it works mate yeah that's it it's in the newborn joint cell ones were totally stuck so cool there it is now it's got a circlip on as well it's not going anywhere ball don't steal balls stiffer than the original one but all good clean this up and put it back on the vehicle you've probably noticed a reasonable amount of usage of black gloves even though they're usually reserved for european cars i feel like you've got two options you can either use black gloves all day they do rip and tear eventually and then your hands sort of get dirty in here which is what happened to me or you can keep washing up but there's not much point just washing up with normal soap you better using like a proper one with grit in it as you can see our rack boots are absolutely torn and munted so we're going to replace both the rack boots just some new standard replacement racky boot things it's just boring servicing work but you might as well do it while we're under there while the rack is apart but while we are there in our aim of game of modifying stuff if we possibly can is we're going to put some new um tie rod ends now that will change the suspension geometry slash bump steering things to do with alignment um but why that's good is that when you lower the car a lot sometimes the factory stuff can't keep up and your angles get wrong and then we go over bumps it just ruins everything so by putting in an aftermarket and adjustable one it means we can make that work just right and that will bolt straight on so we rip the old one off fix the rack boot and then slap this straight in any minute now yes i reckon a civic might be the best possible car you could learn how to modify cars on more than a brz front-wheel drive version hmm front-wheel drive bet like yeah actually similar to brz but bears it's still got some subaru weirdness yeah this is like just so friendly and easy going and makes so much sense where everything goes maybe this is why people are so into them man man like you can't really go wrong as a first car i know that ek's like this one are getting old but i mean and expensive yeah but the next generation not so much like you know 2004 or something or 2006 maybe not as much it's just so good oh look my steering rack boots have broken like it's such a good way to learn awesome all right we're going to clean that up and then grease it up a bit and then slap a new boot on yeah well that needed to be replaced oh look in there mmm so juicy oh look at that nice clean grease feed it some grease mate all right martin what's going on mighty car servicing and and repairs now this stuff's important you might as well do it while you're modifying right you know it's important martin you're a mechanic out there and you do this for a job you are an important individual because you are keeping people moving yeah and this here might not seem like an exciting job but someone's got to do it and that's you that's you mr and mrs mechanic out there well done seriously because like i'm just like full hacking around and going oh this is a fun thing but someone's got to do this hard on their body hard on their back six days a week sometimes seven days a week really cold conditions so we give you the double thumbs up of approval and it takes so much time to get good at this and that's the thing that's kind of what i've been talking about with this civic thing like you've got to learn a different chassis every time you change and this is really enjoyable and easy and fun but sometimes they're not if you're a mechanic likely you have to learn hundreds of cars yeah yeah and some some are going to roll up and you're going to go oh no it's a volvo yeah and other times go oh it's an 86 that's cool you know yeah so mad props to use but you know what at the end of the day if you love it and you're having fun regardless whether you're getting paid from being a mechanic or not it's a good thing to do so we've got our upper arms our tie rods and now we can insert our lower arms and our hubs and that's our all our suspension done that it's braking coil over yeah and then then it's breaks all right control arm thank you sir so so it's time to put the coilovers in so basically we transfer over these um things from the bottom of the uh factory strut uh we're just winding these down a little bit to make a little bit easier we can go against plastic later on if that's what the internet requires of this car that's what we require of it little things now like you can decide which way your logo goes when you look in your engine bay it's important to think about that stuff at this point isn't it no no no it's not um but uh we're just gonna set a basic height all of this stuff that we're kind of putting on we'll get a proper alignment set up we are hoping for this to be an awesome street car of course but also a car that could be used as a um a proper like weekend whip at the track and so um so yeah we'll get a proper setup some proper tyres uh it's starting to get exciting now mate yes look at all the bits going in it's actually gonna be once we put brakes on this we can put wheels on and move it around yeah yeah again properly like that's that's exciting paul flintstone style all right i have to feed this this one up here so you've got a couple of nuts there already yeah you're
