The Formula One Car that's Enough for That: A Drag Racing Spectacle

We're here to crack on and see if this formula one car is enough to get the job done. No pressure, Matt. We've got Porsche, and we can do this. Come on, no pressure. Let's get started.

As we prepare to put the pedal to the metal, the anticipation is palpable. The crowd is on the edge of their seats, waiting for the green flag to drop. And there they go! The formula one car takes off like a shot, leaving everyone in its dust. We've got a clear winner so far.

But wait, what's this? A bike is coming up fast behind us. It looks like Peter is feeling confident after his impressive performance earlier. He's not holding back, either - he's giving it everything he's got. The crowd is on their feet as the bike speeds past us, taking the lead at the line.

It seems that Peter's initial getaway wasn't exactly stellar, but he made up for lost time quickly. We're not sure what happened to Tony and the team, but they seem a bit shaken by the experience. Their engine has cut out, and they're struggling to get back up to speed. But don't worry - it's just a minor software glitch that can be easily fixed.

The bike is still in the lead, but we've got a chance to catch up if we time it right. The next race will be a rolling start, and we'll need to make the most of it. We're not sure what the others are planning, but we'll give it our all and hope for the best.

So, what happened? Well, the formula one car completed the quarter mile in 9.6 seconds, which is incredibly fast. The bike and Porsche both took a bit longer - 10.2 seconds each, to be exact. But Peter's bike was still ahead of us at the line, taking the win.

Now that we've got our bearings, it's time for the rolling race from around 40 miles per hour. We're all set for second gear, and David is calling the shots. "Get level, guys!" he says, as we take off once again. This time, we manage to avoid hitting the limiter - but just barely.

We're hoping to catch up on the other side of the mile, but it's looking like the bike is still in the lead. We've got our sights set on the finish line, and we won't let anything get in our way.

As we near the end of the mile, David calls out "Full emergency stop!" - but we're not quite ready yet. We take a deep breath, focus, and push it to 200 miles per hour. The bike is still ahead of us, but we're closing in fast.

It's anyone's game at this point, with all three competitors neck and neck as they approach the finish line. And then, just as suddenly as it began, everything comes to a stop. We've reached our limit, and there's no going back.

So, who won? Well, that depends on how you look at it. Peter's bike took an impressive win, but we managed to keep up with him for most of the race. David was driving the Porsche, which did surprisingly well considering its limitations. And as for us - well, let's just say we're still learning the ropes.

world record for the fastest lap around the tt course at 135 miles an hour so he's clearly slightly deranged because you have to be to be able to do that i mean i've got so much respect for the guy anyway finally we come to the formula one car it has a 2.4 liter natural aspirated v8 which revs to 18 000 rpm and it puts out around 700 800 horsepower weighs in at just below 700 kilos turns the price so the season budget for 2011 was about 250 million so divide that by four because they had four cars we're talking about 62 million pounds for that car it's being driven by someone who knows the mechanical right just cut out no horrible noises can you store them can you store them yeah not at seven gear though if you want to just wait there for a bit i'll go get you some help how's it looking yeah it's just a little software glitch we'll just give it a tweak and then it'll be right there just software yeah can't you just turn it off and on again that's basically what we're doing yeah he's doing some little wheelies now to show off okay dc now we're going to have a rolling race in third gear you've got to be in third gear i'm going to try and give myself an advantage here we go i'm going to count it in three two one go come on porsche pointless it didn't pick up so quick that time but it's gone can the bike catch him is the point gonna come fast that is so close and here i come now okay now we can have a break test from 100 miles an hour when we reach the line full emergency stop all right let's get 200 miles an hour come on guys get level right whenever it's just light full emergency stop what's going to happen i'm glad i'm not on that bike here we go here's a light oh my god just looked at his front wheels at least i didn't lose that yes looks like you locked
