DX Racer F-Series Gaming Chair

The Quest for the Perfect Gaming Chair: A Personal Preference Issue

As I settled into the F Series gaming chair from DXRacer, I couldn't help but feel that it was not quite right. The angle of the foam where the backing meets the bottom seemed to lend itself to a more reclined posture than I prefer, with my butt further forward on the cushion and my curved spine spooned inwards. This is reinforced by the presence of a wire in the bottom of the seat that can be easily felt through if you scoot too far back when sitting straight up. While I hoped the lumbar cushion would help alleviate this issue, it was a bit too thick for me to find practical.

However, normal and upright isn't the only way to use the F Series. The chair has most of the usual adjustments that one would expect from a high-quality gaming chair. The height adjustment is handled by the gas lift lever on the side, which can go much higher and much lower than I would ever want as a 5'6" bloke. You can also use this lever to lock the Rock functionality just by pushing it in, and the rocking tension can be adjusted with a knob from difficult to push back to pretty easy to push back.

The contoured armrests are nicely shaped for your forearms and are height adjustable to nine different positions with ergonomic release and lock buttons positioned underneath the side of each. Finally, the chair can be safely reclined with over 20 usable positions, so far back that you can basically lie flat in it. However, DX Racer also points out that you can actually use the 12° rock even if the chair is lying flat, but I'm not sure if I would recommend it - it's not that you'll actually fall over, it's just that your head will be lower than your feet.

In retrospect, I realize that this chair is not directly comparable to the last one I reviewed because it's designed for use by someone with a much smaller frame. Instead of having the X Racer send me their M series, something that would be more equivalent, I asked for the F S series hoping it would be the final answer to the question of which gaming chair is for me. Unfortunately, I don't think this is it - it's definitely a personal preference thing. If I could find a More Level butt cushion design with firmer foam but the same size as an F S series, that would be grand.

My quest for the perfect office SL gaming chair is not over yet, and I'd love to hear from you guys about your preferences. Do you prefer a more relaxed sitting position or a more upright one? Did all the things that I complained about sound just dandy to you? Let me know in the comments below! And if you want to see more chair videos, speaking of which...

Mechanical Keyboard Mayhem: The Varjo VA87M

Right off the top of this spot, we kind of assume that everyone knows what Mass Drop is. But if you don't, there's a site that facilitates group buys ensuring that you can get great deals on stuff like new tech clothes tools and heck even tee if you're into that sort of thing. Items are nominated and then selected by the Mass Drop community, and then Mass drop works directly with manufacturers and distributors to find a starting price, lowest price, and a bunch of price in between for each product.

The current featured drop is the Varjo VA87M, a pretty darn cool 10-keyless mechanical keyboard. It features a solid metal body, actually made of metal, with a cool artistic design of your choice. Cherry MX switches and either D-sublimated top printed or laser etched front printed PBT key caps - they didn't skimp on the materials for this keyboard, and it's pretty top-notch stuff from a relatively small keyboard maker.

If you're interested in getting your hands on this keyboard, head on over to Mass Drop's website through the link provided at the end of this video description. There's no affiliate link or commission involved, just make sure to let them know that we sent you. And be sure to check out around massdrop.com and see what else they have piquing your interest.
