I bought from the enemy... and the enemy was GOOD 😢

**A Test of Amazon's Shipping and Customs Experience: A Review**

In this video, we'll be discussing our experience with Amazon's shipping and customs process for delivery to the Philippines. We'll explore the benefits and drawbacks of using Amazon for international purchases, particularly when it comes to receiving items that may not be widely available in local stores.

**The Challenge of Finding a Particular Item**

For our trial order, we had chosen a relatively simple item: 2x32GB DDR4 RAM. However, what made this item "simple" was the fact that it wasn't immediately available at our suppliers. This led us to turn to Amazon as a potential solution. While it's true that Amazon can be frustrating to use at times, especially when you're trying to find specific items or dealing with issues related to availability, the platform also offers many conveniences and benefits for customers.

**The Shipping Process**

Once we placed our order on Amazon, we were able to proceed through the standard checkout process. This included entering our address in the Philippines, which automatically calculated the shipping cost and estimated delivery time. We had three main concerns going into this experience: how long would shipping take, would Customs ask us to pay more than the estimated amount, and what would the overall experience be like? Thankfully, these concerns were largely alleviated.

**The Experience: Fast Shipping and No Issues**

In terms of shipping speed, our package arrived relatively quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. We also didn't encounter any issues with Customs or additional fees, which made the entire process feel streamlined and hassle-free. This experience is likely to be typical for many Amazon customers in the Philippines, but it's still worth noting that there are potential drawbacks to using Amazon for international purchases.

**The Pros and Cons of Buying from Amazon**

While Amazon offers many benefits, including fast shipping and a wide selection of products, there are also some disadvantages. One major concern is the lack of warranty support. Because Amazon ships directly from suppliers in other countries, it can be difficult to get assistance or resolve issues related to defective or damaged items. Additionally, certain items may not be eligible for warranty claims due to their size or weight.

**Local Shops: A Different Option**

For those who prefer to buy locally, there are also some advantages to consider. Many local shops, such as Kong's Hardware and Sugar, offer a range of products that may not be available on Amazon. Additionally, local shops often provide better warranty support and customer service, which can be a significant concern for customers who need to return or exchange items.

**The Verdict: A Viable Option, But with Caveats**

In conclusion, our experience with Amazon's shipping and customs process was largely positive. However, it's essential to approach international purchases with caution and consider the potential drawbacks. For some items, especially those that may be prone to failure or require warranty support, buying locally from a reputable shop like Kong's Hardware or Sugar may still be the best option.
