Organize Your Pantry, It Needs It

The Benefits of Organizing Your Pantry

One of the most effective ways to keep your pantry organized is to reuse items you already have at home. One item that is often overlooked but can be very useful is the mason jar. If you don't have a mason jar, they are super cheap to buy for a pack of 12. Even better, you could use an old spaghetti jar or an old pickle jar, which are essentially free and can be repurposed as airtight containers for storing snacks.

For example, I decided to decant my snacks into mason jars, which not only made them look neater but also made it easier to see what was inside. The clear glass cylinder vase that I bought from IKEA is another great item to use for this purpose. I like the fact that it's clear so I can see exactly what's in it, and I'll be able to write down what's going into each jar if I need to change things up later.

Another problem that many people face when organizing their pantry is dealing with pouches. They tend to get lost in the pantry and don't really stand up on their own. To solve this issue, I found a creative solution. While walking around my house, I saw a letter holder that was nothing special about it but looked like it could work perfectly for holding my pouches. I simply used it to hold them upright, which allows me to see how many I have and prevents them from falling over.

Now that my pantry is organized, I can finally put everything back in their proper places. The boxes are taller and I have more headroom up here, so I'm putting the pasta and sauce on one shelf. This way, I can see exactly what I have and what I need to buy next time I'm at the store. For my daughter's snacks and drinks, I've designated a separate shelf that's at her height level, which allows her to grab whatever she needs without having to climb up or down.

As I cleaned out my pantry, I realized how much of an impact it can have on my daily life. It's no longer overwhelming and stressful, but rather a breeze to navigate. The cleaning process also made me realize how much I had forgotten about in the back of the pantry, so it's been a great discovery.

One of the last tips I want to share with you is utilizing the space on your door. I have a dry erase board that I bought for $7, and I'll be attaching it to the door using sticky velcro strips. This will become a landing spot for my pantry inventory, grocery list, and weekly meal plan. It's a great way to keep track of what I need to buy and what's already in stock, and it's also a convenient place to jot down notes and reminders.

Overall, organizing your pantry can make a huge difference in your daily life. By reusing items you already have at home, utilizing creative solutions like letter holders and dry erase boards, and keeping your pantry tidy, you'll be able to find what you need quickly and easily. And the best part? It's not as heavy or overwhelming as it used to be!
