Nintendo Switch (Neon) In-Depth Unboxing & First Look

The Joy-Con Modularity: A Game-Changer for Nintendo Switch Owners

I think it's like an Amiibo, you're not supposed to put an S on the end, so I think you just push this button on the back, and it comes right off. Cool, so I'm assuming you just slide this right on all right? The Joy-Con is transformed into a slightly large controller. I got to say, this is definitely more comfortable, but guys, keep in mind, I'm not going to be using it like this that often, I'll be using the Pro Controller, but for those times where you want to do a two-player game, hand us over to your friend, your family member, whatever, and go to town. Cool, and take this off, you press the same button on the back of the Joy-Con.

This whole modular design is quite impressive, and it definitely leaves the door open for a ton of design opportunities. Imagine like a GameCube controller on here or SNES seriously, this thing has a ton of potential. So, I think Nintendo's already doing a much better job with the Switch than they ever did with the Wii U, and I don't hate the Wii U, the Wii U got plenty of playtime, it didn't get enough playtime, but I think it got plenty. Power adapter, boom, and this is the grip, not the battery grip, but the grip, so pretty cool.

Oh, and here's the other side, strap thingy, all right, so let's take the Joy-Con out again, boom, and boom, got to say, it's very easy, seamless, and let's just click these into place, that's satisfying. All right, that doesn't feel bad, actually, I'm very curious to see how this compares to the Pro Controller, I'm sorry, but does anyone else see a dog? I've been browsing Reddit way too much; that's subreddit for the Switch and every since I saw that picture of a dog or maybe it was a Facebook group, I see a dog every single time I look at the grip. Pretty cool, I don't know if I'll ever get the battery grip, I'm not sure if it's necessary cuz I have the Pro Controller, but hey, like I said before, having the option is good.

Let's put that aside, as always, you get a lot of documentation, and this is the dock, this is what allows you to switch your play modes, and it actually upscales your gameplay to 1080p because the screen is 720p, which I don't think is bad. Here you go, this is the dock, boom, wow, I'm finally holding the dock, very nice, and on the side, we have two USB ports, so let's put this in there right now, actually, I think I should put the Joy-Con on there first.

I got to say, that is a nice click, and apparently, this actually makes the Switch sound like that audio bit that is famous now, um, when you're playing in handheld mode, I think all right, so just kind of see it, it's facing the right way, right? Yep. So, just kind of, oh, and this is interesting if you open the door on the back, you get access to the HDMI out as well as USB 3.0, so the sides are USB 2, and the inside one is USB 3.

And, I had some trouble with the dock for some reason, it wouldn't go in maybe it's because I'm trying to do it on my lap, I might have to put this on a flat surface that way it slides in perfectly. I don't want to damage anything, just got this anyway, guys, let me boot up the Switch real quick, there you go, and I will complete the setup process in the weekend Vlog.

This is just the beginning, I obviously have a lot to say, oh, did you hear that? Very nice, and it vibrated all right, there you go. Guys, thank you so much for watching, and if you want your own Switch, I'll link it right below on Amazon. I don't know if it's available right now, I highly doubt it but still, wow, I got to say, for a 720p screen, it's very sharp, I don't know how well you can see that, but I am definitely impressed all right there you go.

Guys, I have plenty more to say, so check out the weekend Vlog, and actually when that weekend Vlog goes live on Monday, I'll link it right below in the video description. So, if you guys won't normally follow my Vlogs, that's what I do every weekend; I Vlog, I talk a lot, I drink a lot of coffee, I play a lot of video games, I'm very family-oriented, so if you don't know me, this is your chance to meet me.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: endays like this they don't come often enough hello guys where you David franki here with my Nintendo switch unboxing in neon I am just so grateful to be able to own this on launch day I mean yeah I bought it myself but I'm just saying launch consoles they're not always the easiest to get your hands on especially when it comes to pre-orders I got my pre-order within like minutes of it going live so anyway let's go through everything I bought and then I'll unbox the actual Nintendo switch console I got this last night a Lexar 64 GB micro SD card at first I was like David no you're not going to download too many eShop games and you always buy your games physically and while guys honestly that's not going to change anytime soon because I really like seeing my physical game collection in my living room on my bookshelf over there you'll see more of that in the weekend Vlog but then I got thinking well sometimes I will be buying eShop games because I'm playing Indies now more than ever um on my Xbox One and PS4 so it's going to be the same exact situation with the switch but unlike those two consoles I can take those indie games on the go which is really cool all right I got the Pro Controller from Best Buy I am very interested to see how this feels now in theory I should be using this more than the joy-con but we'll see having the choice is good right of course Skylanders imaginators my first Skylanders game ever and I do have the Crash Bandicoot and Dr Neo cortex figures to use with this game now keep in mind I am a complete Skylanders Noob so I'm not really sure what I'm getting myself into but hopefully I like it I love amiibo I love the idea of building a character and going on some kind of mysterious Adventure if you will so I don't see why I won't like this so there you go the starter pack Super Bomberman R I have not played a Bomberman game in years so there it is I'm excited to try this and apparently the single player is actually pretty good Legend of Zelda breath of the wild it would not be a switch launch without the AAA title to go along with the console this should be good okay so I'm not going to lie I'm not some like huge DieHard Zelda addict but I definitely appreciate Zelda I appreciate everything the franchise has done for the gaming industry as a whole I mean it's that big so I was like David come on you can't miss out on this and I have a little confession and I don't really mind admitting this I've beat many games I've beat most of the games I play nowadays but I've never finished a Zelda game I've never finished a Zelda game really and well honestly that's kind of embarrassing saying that but I'm sure I'm sure there's other Gamers out there in the same kind of situation right so anyway this is the first Zelda game that I'm looking to take very seriously I really enjoyed the Wind Waker I just never beat it cuz my fan died on my Wii U which distracted me and then I started playing other things so anyway this shall be good and it's getting insanely good reviews one two switch didn't really expect to have this on launch day so shout out to my viewer Harrison he sent me this yes he sent me this he asked me on Facebook if I had this and then uh kind of like five minutes later he was like David I want to send you something so I kind of had an idea it was going to be once to switch and so Harrison dude thank you so much this really means a lot to me um and I'll link you right below with anything you want to be linked like your YouTube Twitter or whatever so thank you this should be a great demonstration of what the uh switch is capable of kind of like the wiii and Wii Sports the Wii U and Nintendo Land so this should be fun and I'm really looking forward to HD Rumble that was Mali in case you felt that anyway so Harrison thank you and I think that's all the games right Skylanders once you switch bomber man and Zelda clearly I have plenty to keep me busy this weekend and speaking of weekend stay tuned for a very long weekend vlog because you can bet you a little Nintendo 11 but I will be talking about the Nintendo switch a lot you have been warned okay oh also this is not exactly switch related but I saw this a Target last night no this is not the Zelda special edition I thought about it but I'm like nah I'm not going to spend the money on that but then I saw this book at Target last night for 30% off Legend of Zelda art and artifacts this should be very interesting I'm I'm going to open this in the weekend Vlog and it's huge and heavy again 30% off why not I was kind of in like in this big switch hype mood last night so what the hell get it anyway okay on to the main attraction the Nintendo switch in neon before I open this box I got to say it's very light and not that big this is definitely one of the smaller console boxes that I've opened in recent years I mean am I alone in saying that this is actually impressively small so Props of Nintendo it's kind of eco-friendly in away and plus keep in mind this is a console portable hybrid so the console's not going to be huge if anything the biggest item in here is probably the dock and that alone is not that large where is my knife it's to hide behind the big ass Zelda book so here we go Nintendo switch neon this shall be awesome actually I don't think I even need a knife so upon opening the flap the first flap you get some setup instructions pretty cool and apparently you start the setup process on the switch itself and then they make you dock it and by make you dock it I don't know if it's required but they encourage you to dock it that way you learn a difference between handheld mode and tablet mode and TV mode Nintendo I just got to say this real quick I think you're convincing me I mean at first when I heard rumors about the NX like a year or two ago I was like eh because I'm not a big handheld gamer I'm primarily going to be using this on my TV I I mean I will be using this on the go Fairly frequently but I'm a couch gamer I love sitting down on my couch 65in TV surround sound Comfort here nightstand there coffee snacks bada bing bada boom that's how I am but I'm really hoping the switch can turn me more into a handheld gamer throughout the next few months mon so we'll see and the first true test is my trip back to New Jersey next weekend and I will be taking this with me by the way I think I win the award for the most in-depth longest unboxing of the Nintendo switch yet maybe hey I like to look back on this day you know all right so here we go unboxing oh my God the joycons are tiny wow I can't believe I'm finally holding these all right let's take out the plastic it's funny the Nintendo switch itself looks like a Kindle Fire which scares me a little bit not really it's a joke all right this is pretty cool it's not like overbearingly small if anything it feels similar to the weed nunchuk you got the joystick up top the face buttons actually actually the d-pad it looks like phe buttons but it's a d-pad uh we got a button down here SL and Sr so this is for like two-player gaming when you want to play with someone like in Mario Kart you don't have to use them like this there is no reason whatsoever why you cannot use these on the grip or the um Pro Controller that's what's great about the switch kind of like the Wii U you have a lot of different playing modes I mean I will say I hope it's not too fragmented like the Wii U but at least there's only one screen so I doubt it's going to be that fragmented anyway I got to say first impressions of the joycon are very positive now I was just talking to my friend Danny minck and I was saying one of my favorite things about the Wii was just doing this with the nunchuck in the Wiimote and chilling this is how you're meant the game just look arms separated like this relaxing and that's exactly what you can do with the switch so that's going to be cool and the right joycon feels nice the face buttons are clicky listen that's Hunter barking yes I'm still watching the pets and the shoulder buttons are very small but they have a nice click to them and the triggers they don't like have travel like the Xbox One and PS4 controllers do but they're not bad they feel like a like a step above the Wii U uh trigger so cool awesome let's put them aside let's take the switch out all right it's not that heavy not that light either it feels like similar to an iPad Mini maybe it's hard to say but the overall design is nice the bezel is a little thick I'm not going to lie but I heard over time you just kind of forget about it but the overall design is very Sleek very clean definitely Pro for Nintendo they're not typically like a pro design kind of company but I will say this is one of their better looking devices and on the sides here we do have plenty of access to screws I've heard this thing is actually pretty easy to open and apparently the uh battery is user replaceable so hey that's something to keep in mind here's the kickstand I don't know how often I'll be using this kind of scared of it there you go boom not bad nice little click on the bottom we have a USBC connector you can use that for charging and on the top here it looks like we have a vent for air ventilation headphones Jack on the top the game card slot so that's where I'll be putting Zelda in volume power and boom that's it now let's connect these my first time connecting to joycon keep in mind I've not gone to any kind of switch event I've not used the switch in person this is my first time I got to say they're very bright listen oh that is nice wow okay look at this now we have a very large size handheld just like that this is the actual console guys this is the console and by the way the back is very simple we got speakers which are apparently quite surprisingly loud so I'm looking forward to that and we have the switch logo H it's not heavy At All by the way once you connect to joy-con it feels completely different like it's definitely not too heavy I mean it's a little on the heavier side for a handheld but you got to keep in mind this is a hybrid so there's only so much I can do right now but considering this is a day one release I'm impressed I am definitely impressed it feels nice and we got the start and select buttons up here which are plus and minus awesome oh and down here the home button and down here I think this is the screenshot button I'm not completely sure I'll find out soon enough let's put that over there Put The Knife over here that's scaring me all right also in the box we have an HDMI cable pretty self-explanatory that goes right into the dock okay these are like the um I don't know what they call them it's like the joyon not the grip but the thing on the sides you can well it's a wrist strap but it's also buttons I think yeah that act as the SL and Sr buttons so cool actually I'll take that out right now there you go yeah it's a wrist strap you got to love Nintendo they're all about that safety so let me actually take one of the joy-cons off sorry Joy con I think it's like a amibo you're not supposed to put an S on the end so I think you just push this button on the back oh and it comes right off cool so I'm assuming you just slide this right on all right just like that the joyc con is transformed into a the dock for some reason it wouldn't go in maybe it's because I'm trying to do it on my lap I might have to put this on a flat surface that way it slides in perfectly I don't want to damage anything I just got this anyway guys let me boot up the switch real quick there you go and I will complete the setup process in the weekend Vlog this is just the beginning I obviously have a lot to say oh did you hear that very nice and it vibrated all right there you go guys thank you so much for watching and if you want your own switch I'll link it right below on Amazon I don't know if it's available more to say so check out the weekend Vlog and actually when that weekend Vlog goes live on Monday I'll link it right below in the video description so if you guys won't normally follow my Vlogs that's
