Should you buy the Meta Quest 3?

**Meta Quest 3 Review: A New and Improved Version of the Quest 2**

I've had a few more days to try out the Meta Quest 3, and while this isn't going to be a full-on review of this product, I have some thoughts. My first key takeaway is that the Quest 3 really feels like a new and improved version of The Quest 2, which is to say that it's easy to use and very approachable.

I appreciate that of course with the Quest 2 being around for a few years and it being super popular, there are plenty of games and apps available for it, and all of them are compatible with the Quest 3 as well. Compared to last generation, there's a faster Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, which should give you higher fidelity graphics in games, granted that the titles support it.

I played a little bit of Red Faction 2, which looked absolutely awesome, but I'm looking forward to seeing what other titles can do to really take advantage of this chip. Another thing that I like with the Quest 3 over its predecessor is that it's genuinely more comfortable to use.

Putting it on, I like the new fabric on it; it feels more breathable, which is great especially during long play sessions. You'll get less sweaty, which is absolutely appreciated. But also, I like the fact that the form factor on it is way slimmer this year.

Even though the Quest 3 is slightly heavier than the Quest 2 because it has a slimmer profile, the center of gravity feels way better; it doesn't feel as front-heavy as the last generation, which is a really good thing. Because you get less fatigue after long gaming sessions, and really all of this enhances the experience when you start taking the Quest 3 out of in the open to play around with mixed reality.

Which ultimately was my favorite part of using this headset. You see up until this point, I was a bit skeptical of how useful products like the Apple Vision Pro could be. Apple can come up with the best sales pitch in the world with their Minority Report-esque product, but at the end of the day, it seemed really far-fetched.

Especially considering that it cost a whopping $3500 now. I'm not naive to think that a $500 product would go toe-to-toe with something like that. But I think what the Quest 3 does is give me a taste of what that life could look like.

Even something as simple as browsing Meta's UI and moving windows around our actual room really sold me on the potential of this tech. Though it's really up to Meta and the developers making apps for this headset to take full advantage of it, as well.

To be clear, I don't think mixed reality by itself is the only reason why you should be buying a Quest 3. Now if you're someone that uses your Quest 2 a lot and want an upgrade, then I think the $500 price point for this headset is totally justified for the tech that you're getting.

However, if you're like me and just casually use these things every couple of months or so, then I think the higher price tag is harder to justify. But let me know what you think about this headset in the comments below.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: entake me to zuck's meta Palace today on the channel I'm giving you my first impressions on the brand new meta Quest 3 I want to see what it's like compared to its predecessor The Quest 2 and see what this thing is all about W this thing looks rad so it's definitely an odd look with the camera array on the front here it's not as clean a look as the Quest 2 though what probably stands out to me is the fact that this is technically a Slimmer profile all of the weight and body is just kind of focused into a small depth here which means that it should be at least in theory a bit more comfortable even the controllers look a bit different this time around what is apparent is the fact that there is no circle on the top of it anymore which means you're not going to Clank your hands together which was an issue that I had with the last controller this feels a little more free meta has also improved the game by letting you use hand gestures to do a lot of stuff so I'm curious to see how that works as well especially with all of the improved sensors and everything on this just going to jump in and try it out because uh this is looking pretty promising W hello those hand controls wa the interface is just here let me get this properly set up and we'll get some real first impressions of this thing this is unreal okay so I just got the meta Quest 3 set up and while I might look a little goofy the actual Tech here is interesting and I got to say the tracking is really impressive I mean all things considered with the fact that there's a desk in front of me right now that's kind of messing with the perspective a bit the tracking is impressive I want to pull up a window to give you the best experience of this so for example I just have the store open here and if I grab the end of this window I can drag it pretty much around the space and it's doing a really good job of just tracking it and keeping it in place so it's not disorder orienting or anything actually just feels like it's floating in real life it's Austin Evans hi are you recording yeah how is it dude this is unreal I feel like it's so immersive that I want to show you what I'm looking at and it's literally here yeah yeah yeah that thing over here like it almost is like the graphics need to take a step up now it's not so much the screen at this point it's the first time I've used a VR headset where I feel like the screen is no longer limiting that it's good enough now actually kind of funny because the camera with our high contrast scene right now like where Luke is standing it's pretty dark over there um but it actually looks like there's a little bit of depth because there's all this graininess in the background with the camera trying very hard but the the actual UI elements look so sharp in comparison the sense of presence is really quite strong like I can like walk around like my office which is really messy and like I'm not afraid I'm going to bump into anything or step on anything like it's very clear it's no no like like for real like I can actually just walk around I mean I hit the Gatorade bottle but yeah I mean even out here I mean I'm going to just walk around and move stuff and just show you that I can actually you know I probably the thing you shouldn't do this is definitely an OSHA violation do that that's this is they put this on the don't try this at home near far wherever you are okay yeah um for real though the fact that you get that sense of depth and that it's pretty one to one with your eyes is kind of insane what's funny is that I actually left my UI in the room when I left but I can bring it up easily just put my hand out here pinch like that and I can bring up the menu whoa hi Oculus really cool though oh the back of the wao it's just so you guys can't see what I'm seeing right it's it's it's in private so this part is blank it's just white but over here you can see all my games this is never going to be normal this is never going to be okay like this is just never like that's not okay I I'm just dumbfounded at how good this is working that's so sick wait a minute this is so cool look how cool that is we can't see anything we still can't see anything I don't believe you wow it's like it's on the monitor man mix reality actually kind of fun I didn't expect to really be as excited as I am but the fact that I can properly walk around and it's all in color not just black and white like on the Quest 2 ah I see why people are excited about this now it's really hard to articulate just how impressive this stuff is without actually trying it for yourself I want to try it waa yo dude that's wild that it's properly good right yeah okay I've had a few more days to try out the quest 3 and
