ENTIRE CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATED WITH THRIFT STORE ITEMS _ THE SORRY GIRLS

The Thrift Store Challenge: Creating a Unique Christmas Tree Decoration

As we walked through the thrift store, our eyes scanned the shelves, searching for unique and creative materials to use as decorations for our Christmas tree. We picked up a few interesting items, including giant Jingle Bells that would add a fun and noisy element to our display. The bells were a great bargain at just $1.70, and we couldn't resist adding them to our collection.

In addition to the thrift store, we also visited the dollar store to pick up some secondary pieces to add to our tree. We found a bucket of bells that was an absolute steal at just $1.70, and we were excited to use them in our decoration. We also picked up some gold-tipped feathers, which would be perfect for adding a touch of luxury to our display.

Next, we headed to the fabric store to pick up some string to make a garland. We chose a festive green color that would complement our tree perfectly, and we were excited to create something new with our materials. As we left the fabric store, we had an idea for a unique Christmas decoration - we would turn old plastic animal toys into ornaments by covering them in white spray paint and adding some details with Liquid Gold Leaf.

To add some extra flair to our ornaments, we used fishing wire to attach small bows made from ribbon. We spaced out the pom-poms on our garland every seven inches, creating a fun and playful effect that added depth and texture to our display. To complete the look, we added some white paint to our pine cones, giving them a frosted effect that looked like freshly fallen snow.

As we set up our tree, we were excited to see how everything would come together. We used fairy lights from the dollar store, which added a warm and cozy glow to our display. The children's pom-pom cape was placed under the tree, adding a fun and playful touch to our decor. With a final flourish, we hung our ornaments on the tree, watching as they sparkled in the light.

The math worked out beautifully - everything we bought together for just under $50, including the basket at the bottom that added an extra $9 to our total bill. We were thrilled with how our decorations turned out, and we couldn't wait to show off our unique Christmas tree to friends and family. As a bonus, we had given new life to old materials, reducing waste and reusing items we might otherwise have discarded.

In the spirit of recycling and upcycling, we created many more videos in our Thriphip series where we turn old junk into something magical using minimal tools and creativity. We also announced that this year will be filled with lots of fun Christmas crafts tutorials, and as always, we want to see what you guys come up with so go over to the twits or instagram accounts for more information.

We'll also be hosting a Live Rap video show on December 11th where we'll wrap some presents, give wrapping tips and ideas and get your feedback. We can't wait to engage with all of our amazing followers who have been helping us come up with these ideas in previous years so make sure to follow us to see what's coming next and keep those comments coming to the twits and instagrams.

That's it for this article about creating a unique Christmas tree decoration using thrift store finds.

topper just cuz I didn't know what I wanted but then we saw this star and it totally called to us uh it's so beautiful this you're like wait what what do um these toys have to do with Christmas we also picked up these giant um Jingle Bells Oh my God they're really cute and really noisy and this whole bucket of bells was $1.70 yes paa bargain so yeah on top of on top of the thrift store we did also go to the dollar store to get some secondary pieces to add to the tree because the dollar store is honestly just as cheap as the thft store so they had these um gold tipped feathers that we can do something with these snowy Frosty pine cones yep these um balls of pom pom uh we also went to the fabric store and got some string so guess what who's making a Garland it's going to be like that little Cape but Garland form oh my God and then here's the ribbon that we're going to use to make some wi bless up I'm so excited let's go since we're trying to stick with a theme we're painting all of these random bulbs White Once dry we're going to glitterfy them coat the bulb in white liquid glue and then pour on some glitter we're going to turn these plastic animal toys into tree ornaments start by covering them with white spray paint tip spray paint works great on plastic toys but not so great on rubber ones once dry we're screwing in some tiny screw eyes so we can add a string for hanging we went with fishing wies so it would be unnoticeable on the tree to bring some life back into these white animals we're using Liquid Gold Leaf to paint on some details a paint pen would also work great for this this pom pom Garland is super simple to make hot glue the pom poms onto your yarn or string we spaced ours out every seven in and that's it for this ornament we're going to wrap it with twine use hot glue to periodically add dots of glue to keep the twine in place keep wrapping until you get to the bottom and can curl up the twine and end the wrapping we're going to Jazz up these pine cones by first adding some ribbon strings not a loop of ribbon and then glue it onto the top of the pine cone next we're tying bows out of a different ribbon glue the bows on to cover up the knot we made over these little nests by giving them a light coat of white paint for a frosted effect we added in some of our gold dipped feathers keep going keep going there yeah stop there all right so we're here at my house and we have this tree like you said and it's really bare so now it's time to put everything that we just crafted onto the tree these are fairy lights which are often cheaper and cuter than a standard string of Christmas lights and you can get these from the dollar store our tree stand didn't end up fitting in the basket so we cut out the back so it could sit around the stand we laid on the children's pom pom cape and placed it under the tree okay so I absolutely love how this turned out it's what I would have designed if I had gone to a store and bought them anyways yeah and this was like under $50 we did the math we wrote down everything that we bought for this tree and it was like 40 something which is incredible and that included the basket at the bottom which that the basket and like the little Shaw thing together were like $9 so if you just wanted to decorate a tree it'd be like 35 bucks oh my gosh don't go to the stores and spend money on ornaments basically and I like giving life to old things instead of buying new stuff from the store so yeah good work team recycle upcycle we do a lot of these recycling upcycling videos we have a whole thri flip Series so I'll like a playlist you can see all the other things that we've made over before and we have a few more Christmas videos coming out including a rap with me live video show
