How to Get Back the Start Menu in Windows 8
By Ranjit
In this video review, I will show you how to get back the start menu in Windows 8. This is a feature that was lacking in the original version of Windows 8, and while the Windows 8.1 update did bring some improvements, it's still not quite the same as having a traditional start menu like we saw in older versions of Windows.
As you can see from the video, this is the Metro interface, which is great for performance but lacks the functionality of a traditional start menu. The lack of a start menu can be annoying, especially if you're used to seeing it in older versions of Windows like Windows XP or Windows 7. These versions have a lot of functionality that's similar to what we see in the start menu.
In this video review, I will show you how to get back the start menu in Windows 8 using an application called Start Menu 8. You can download it from IObit, and I'll provide you with links to the software in the show notes. The download is only about 5.5 MB, which is relatively small.
To install Start Menu 8, you need to uninstall any existing start menu applications first. After that, you'll be able to follow the installation procedure, which is simple and straightforward. As you can see from the video, I've uninstalled the previous application and downloaded the installer for Start Menu 8.
Once you have installed Start Menu 8, you can select the type of start button you want to use. In this case, I've chosen the Classic Windows start button, which looks similar to what we saw in older versions of Windows. You can also choose from other options, including Skins and Fonts.
One of the best things about Start Menu 8 is that it gives you a lot of functionality without being too intrusive. You can access all your programs, computers, control panel, and settings from this start menu. Additionally, you can customize the journal settings to run on startup or skip the Metro screen and come directly to the desktop.
Another feature of Start Menu 8 is that you can change the modern UI to classic mode if you prefer. You can also skin it in different styles, such as Windows 7 style, or even change the fonts. This makes your Windows experience a lot more familiar if you're used to older versions of Windows.
I have been using this application and I must say that it works fine and is pretty fast. If you want to go back to the Metro screen, you can always click on the button at the top right corner of the start menu. Overall, I hope this video review has been helpful in showing you how to get back the start menu in Windows 8 using Start Menu 8.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is Ranjit and in this video I'm going to show you how to get back the start menu in Windows 8 yes this is Windows 8 and let me show you the same as you can see this is the Metro interface and Windows 8 is great in performance but uh the lack of the start menu is kind of annoying and I know the Windows 8.1 update will kind of get back but again you won't get something like this that you're used to for example if you're used to Windows XP or Windows 7 you're used to this and this gives a lot of functionality as you can see you can access all the programs that are available right here and from here only you can access the computers the control panel and all the settings uh and uh the name of this application is start menu 8 and you can download it from IObit I'll have the links in the show notes and first you need to download it the download is just about 5 and a half mix and I'll uninstall this and I'll go through the installation procedure now and now as you can see I've uninstalled that start menu 8 and we get back to Windows 8 regular like this I've downloaded the installer here and we double click on that and says that it's going to install start menu 8 and we just follow the steps except the terms and conditions I'll install it default to the C drive and just uncheck this you don't need this the second option and just hit finish and here you can now select the start button I'll keep it to Classic this is the windows one and as you can see it came right away here but again you can change it to any other from all these if you want and I'll just uh say uh click okay and as you can see now we have installed the start menu 8 and by default it gives us a lot of functionality but anytime you can just go to the settings here and change the journal settings by default as you can see it runs on the startup and it can also skip the Metro screen and directly uh come to the desktop and right now if you press the Windows key uh the start menu will pop up uh like this let me let's uh show you the same now like like this but if you want the default what you say the modern UI uh to come you can uh check that option here in settings I don't want uh the Metro or the modern UI to come so I have uh left it unchecked and you also have further options here again as you can see you also have the options of skinning it for example right now it's in the Windows 8 style but if you want Windows 7 style also you have that and you can even change the fonts if you want so this is uh start menu 8 and it makes uh your Windows Experience a lot familiar if you are used to older Windows versions like Windows 7 or earlier versions and I have been using this and it offers it works fine I would say and it's a pretty fast and uh if you want to go back to the Metro you can always click here and go back to the Metro so I hope you found this video review helpful that's it for now this is ranit and I hope to
