Delivery of the McLaren 675LT at Topaz Detailing [Road to 675LT Episode 08]

A Day at Topaz: A Detailed Look at the McLaren 675 LT

I recently had the opportunity to visit Topaz, a renowned detailing and customization workshop, where I would be seeing my brand new McLaren 675 LT for the first time. As I walked into the facility, I was greeted by a team of experts who were eager to share their knowledge and expertise with me. The atmosphere was professional and welcoming, with a hint of excitement that came from working with high-performance vehicles.

The process began with a thorough cleaning of the car, using specialized equipment and techniques to remove any dust particles or debris that may have accumulated during transportation. I watched in awe as the team expertly applied various products and brushes, carefully removing every last speck of dirt and dust. This was followed by a rinse-down with snow foam, which removed any remaining residue and ensured a smooth surface for the next step.

Next, the car was washed using a specialized detailing solution, followed by a microfiber drying towel to prevent water spots. The result was a gleaming clean surface that seemed almost too good to be true. I couldn't believe how well the paintwork had come out, especially considering it was only just arrived at Topaz.

The team then demonstrated how to open the rear window of the car, using a custom carbon fiber tool to access the engine bay. This allowed them to inspect and clean any imperfections in the paintwork, which they would later address as part of their detailing process. I was amazed by the attention to detail and precision that went into every aspect of the car's preparation.

As we walked around the facility, I had the chance to see some of the other high-performance vehicles on display, including a BMW M6 Grand Coupe, an Ferrari 458 Special, and two Pagani Zonda F cars. Each one was stunning in its own right, with intricate details and customizations that set them apart from more mundane vehicles.

I also caught a glimpse of a Cayman GT4 currently receiving paint protection film, which would be installed on my new McLaren as part of the detailing process. This added an extra layer of protection to the car's exterior, ensuring that it would remain in pristine condition for years to come.

The final stage of the detailing process involved preparing the car for its formal delivery. I watched as the team carefully inspected every aspect of the vehicle, making any necessary adjustments or repairs before handing it over to me. As I took possession of my new McLaren, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and pride. This was more than just a car – it was a work of art, crafted with precision and attention to detail.

As I looked at the car in the daylight, I was struck by its beauty. The paintwork was flawless, with a subtle sheen that seemed to glow in the light. The carbon fiber trim was expertly applied, adding a touch of sophistication to an already stunning vehicle. And the cerulean blue color – it was truly breathtaking.

I spent the next hour walking around the car, admiring its every detail and marveling at the attention to detail that had gone into its creation. It was clear that Topaz had done everything in their power to ensure that my new McLaren would be perfect, from the initial cleaning to the final inspection. As I drove off into the distance, I couldn't wait to see what adventures this car would take me on.

The experience at Topaz was truly unforgettable, and I left with a newfound appreciation for the art of detailing and customization. Whether you're a seasoned car enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates fine craftsmanship, a visit to Topaz is an absolute must. The team's passion and expertise are evident in every aspect of their work, from the initial cleaning to the final inspection.

In part two of this article, I'll be taking a closer look at some of the imperfections in the paintwork and discussing how Topaz's team will address them as part of their detailing process. But for now, I simply wanted to bask in the glory of my new McLaren 675 LT – it was truly an experience I would never forget.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm schmee and today i'm at topaz detailing in london and the reason i'm back here is because my mclaren 675 lt is very soon going to be delivered here to head inside for a wash detail and paint protection so just like we did with the 650s last year we're going to be doing it again with the new 675 lt however this is also the first time i am going to have seen the 675lt outside of the factory so i saw it near the end of the production line while it was still undergoing the final touches and preparations it's going to be delivered on a truck here very shortly so we're going to see it being unloaded before we go inside have it washed up and then in further pieces the full detail and paint protection film being applied but as always here at topaz there are some stunning cars behind me there's a cayman gt4 599 gto 488 gtb carrera gt on the other side and inside there are some awesome cars too that i'm going to be able to show you when we head in there a little bit further on but for now i'm just hanging on with huge levels of excitement for my 675 lt that is about to arrive and be unloaded right here at topaz there she is look at that oh my gosh i am seriously excited right now that's stunning that is the color is so good and it's got natural sunlight on it so good first part of the process then the car is in the wash bay here at topaz and it's getting a layer of iron x which decanap decontaminates the surface gets it all cleaned up and we're going to see the cool effects off that in a moment when you see everything sort of literally getting burnt off it and tidied up then it will be the wheels which are also being cleaned as well wheels being cleaned and the iron x starting to do its thing now when we did this with my 650s that had seen some road miles before you could see um sort of streaks dark red streaks i'm coming off the carpet obviously we're working here with brand new paintwork this has just been done by mso and the cerulean blue and the color is so good i've also got the complete excitement right now that this is basically the first time i've seen my car properly outside of a factory very very exciting shuffle the car backwards to clean the wheels the other way up the car came from mso very clean so there were not many contaminants have to get off the surface you can see a couple of little bits and bobs here on the rear wing it's quite cool to see actually rinsed off and then so the snow foam loosens all of the little particles and contaminants that get caught in the panel gaps and around the sort of rubber seals on the doors and different bits and bobs so you go around then with some fine brushes which mean you can get rid of all of those sort of dust particles that when we're applying the paint protection film caused no end of problems and obviously you don't want to get anything caught underneath the clear film cause issues later on as well as not looking perfect so doing this gets all of that out and the little bits get caught up rinse all of that off snow foam removed now the car is going to get a normal wash treatment before it heads on inside and it's looking pretty good the car is dried off with very specific for the purpose microfiber drying towels and now it is very clean and ready for the paintwork to be worked on i've never done this before but i'm having a demonstration of how you open the rear window there's a custom carbon fiber tool that the car comes with that you unlatch each side and then you can lift up the rear window which is supported by a carbon fiber strut mounted on the left side there so this is saving weight versus the hydraulics the 650s had hydraulic arms on both sides but now you can access the engine bay which is carbon carbon and a lot more carbon and clean that up too look at the color in the daylight it's not even sunny here it just gets so much lighter this is awesome this is absolutely awesome especially perta at the back there is pretty awesome too we're indoors and ready now for the detailing after the cleaning and the color looks so awesome it's so exciting for me obviously seeing it properly like this for the first time so the guys are just starting to walk and get that prepared for what happens next and i'll fully show you around and show you some of the sort of slight imperfections in the paintwork and what can be done about them to make them that extra bit more perfect but while we're here we'll also look around what else is in the topaz workshop at the moment so alongside the lt we have a very nice exclusive dark green bmw m6 grand coupe baby what's on there which is cool come around this side we've got the uh ferrari 458 special at perther another one just like outside shooting up in value like crazy at the moment this one in red with the grey stripe then we have the pagani zonda f pearl white blue interior beautiful car and alongside that another pagani this time we've got a full blue carbon wire blue carbon body over the normal black carbon at the base and on the mirrors of course goldwing doors up here stunning car absolutely stunning so that's him for work here as well then behind his under there are two rolls-royce wraiths and over in the ppf bay the paint protection film where my car will end up a little bit later on there is the cayman gt4 currently receiving protection film in there so squeeze between the speciality and the zonda here there's another blue 458 italia just over there and of course this has been a very very exciting day seeing this car out in the daylight there for the first time out of the factory obviously here with the lift system up hence why it looks a little bit high in the arches before my official delivery so it's going to be heading from here to the power in manchester for all the pre-delivery pdi aspects before i formally collect the car but doing this just means that it will never drive a mile on the road without being perfect and being paint protected as well which is very important to me especially especially when you've gone to mclaren special operations and chosen a bespoke paint color cerulean blue it has to be said it actually came out of the factory very nicely the quality is already very very good but we're here at topaz to make it even better this is truly perfectionist work what we're going to do so i'll run around the car and show you that in more detail in part two but let's just say i am very very happy right now with this car it is truly beautiful and it's going to be absolutely awesome on the adventures we're going to be taking it on this year so i can't wait for it to get through the process here at topaz takes a couple of days all in but yeah here it is the new shimmy mobile mclaren
