The Samsung Galaxy S Plus is a high-end smartphone that offers a range of features and specifications at an affordable price. The phone sports a 1 GHz processor and runs on the Snapdragon chipset, making it a blazing fast device. This is a significant improvement over its predecessor, which used an 800 MHz processor and a Qualcomm chip. With a starting price of around Rs. 15,000 in India, this phone is an excellent value for money.
The Samsung Galaxy S Plus comes with a Bluetooth headset worth approximately Rs. 1,300, making it an even more attractive option for buyers. The phone was launched in March 2011 in India and features a five-megapixel camera with autofocus, a quad-band design that allows it to work all over the world, and Bluetooth version 3 connectivity. It also supports Wi-Fi and comes with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) as its operating system.
The phone's hardware specifications include a 3-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320x480 pixels, a 3100 mAh battery, standard earphones, a volume control on the side, a USB to micro-USB charger, and a microSD card slot. The phone has a textured cover design that feels premium in the hand.
Upon unboxing the phone, it becomes clear that Samsung has taken some design liberties with this device. The phone's design is similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Ace, although it features a more modern look. The screen is slightly smaller than expected, but the display quality is good. The camera module is located on the back of the phone, and it comes equipped with an LED flash. A proximity sensor is also present, which could be useful for those who plan to use their phone for video calls.
The phone's battery life seems decent, considering its size and specifications. The 3 GB of internal storage is likely to fill up quickly, but the 512 MB of RAM should provide smooth performance. The Samsung TouchWiz UI is used as the interface, which feels familiar to those who have used earlier Samsung phones.
One notable omission is the front-facing camera, which is not present on this device. However, the proximity sensor should help with video calls and other applications that require a front-facing camera. Overall, the phone's design and features make it an attractive option for buyers looking for a high-end smartphone at an affordable price.
