**Unboxing and Initial Impressions**
I'm excited to share my experience with this new laptop. As I take it out of the box, I notice that the screws on the back have a unique design. Each screw has a small lock on the back, which prevents them from being pulled all the way out. This means I won't need a magnetic mat to store the screws while taking the back off.
**Removing the Back Plate**
The process of removing the back plate was surprisingly easy. All the screws are still connected, making it simple to access the inside components. As you can see, the back plate comes off easily, revealing the internal workings of the laptop.
**Inspecting the Inside Components**
Upon closer inspection, I'm pleased to see that the inside looks clean and well-organized. The battery, memory stick, fan, Wi-Fi, and NVMe drive are all neatly arranged. I notice that there's an NVMe drive in place, which is easy to upgrade if needed.
**Boot Test and Initial Performance**
After putting the back plate back on, I'm eager to test its performance. With Windows installed, I boot up the laptop and am impressed by how quickly it starts up. The NVMe drive makes a significant difference, allowing for fast boot times. I also notice that there are no issues with startup programs, making it ready to use right away.
**Conclusion**
Overall, I'm very happy with this laptop's performance. It's perfect for on-the-go use, especially in situations like air travel. I'll be using it for personal projects and letting my kids use it at school, as their current Chromebook is quite slow. I recommend checking out the Dell refurbished site and coupon page, which offer discounts and promo codes.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey hey folks it's here my 165 dollar Dell refurbished laptop that I picked up got this kind of cardboard in insert here that allows it to not Shake around so let's pull this out and comes with the power brick and while we're pulling the plastic off all this stuff basically I was looking for a small inexpensive laptop that either I could use on the go or that my kids would be able to use for their schoolwork so this is the Dell Latitude 7290 get all this packing crap out of here and as you can see it actually is a 12.5 inch laptop so let's go ahead and take a look at exactly how these Dell refurbished laptops show up in the mail so if I'm looking at this it does look pretty clean I can see a little bit of dust here in the logo and that just might be dust left over from the packaging that was there and if we open it up it does look like they replaced the entire front and the back let's check the bottom as you can see like I said before it does have the refurbished the Dell 7290 it does come with Windows 10 which was nice didn't have to buy it but if you do have to buy it you can check the links down below I've got some links to the SCD key I've used them a zillion times to buy Windows keys so that's something you all can do if you want so as you can see it's a pretty compact laptop and it does come with the full charger which is to be expected and one of the things I want to point out about this laptop is this is actually not the first laptop I bought from Dell refurbished I went ahead and purchased this one on Black Friday because they always have a 40 or 50 off coupon that you can apply to pretty much any laptop or desktop computer on their site instantly get 40 off no gimmicks no switcheroos it's just exactly what you see is what you get so like I said this one was 259 to begin with tossed in the coupon code and brought it down 103 dollars to a total of 164 dollars so 164 laptop let me see if it turns on if it's got any kind of battery for a Dell 7290 has a 12.5 inch screen 1366 by 768 resolution I went with the smaller solution because it is such a small screen I consider doing the 1080p but I've decided against it it does have a webcam it has an Intel Core i5 quad I5 8350u 1.7 gigahertz uh came with eight gigs of RAM 256 gig SSD inside and so I specifically went with the lower amount of ram just to see how it would run for a while super easy to pop the back off toss in another memory module if I want but for now again for what I'm using it for I think this is going to end up working out just fine alrighty so we're all booted up and ready to go one of the things I wanted to mention was you might ask me hey Carl why why'd you go through refurbished and I'll say to you that in general I like to buy refurbished laptops especially if they're coming directly from the company that builds the laptops because they do spend a lot of time on quality control opening this laptop feels exactly like opening a brand new laptop to me sure it may have been pre-used but I know that they'll replace the battery probably replace the keyboard depending on the screen they might might replace that they definitely replace the outer case just to make sure everything looks nice and clean and ready to go and buying something like this at 164 bucks I could have easily bought two of them and been able to give one to each of my kids but right now I'm just buying this one to see if it's going to work and like I said this might be something that I want to use it doesn't have a graphics card in it or anything just the standard built-in Intel graphics card if I want to do any sort of video conferencing any sort of meetings on the go anything on a laptop that's nice small and portable this was a great affordable option at this point in time doesn't look like there's any real odd sort of bloatware that they've added to it it just comes with the max audio Pro for the sound card comes with their Intel rapid storage technology Bluetooth touchpad standard Windows security so nothing nothing too big it does come with one Cloud but it looks like it's not signed in because I didn't sign into my account I'll see if we can try out the web cam and there it is now you get to see me instead of these big old Clunkers right here so it's looking pretty nice looks like there is no there is HDR on this webcam I was that's pretty surprising I probably won't use that so that's all working there is a nice little LED light here to let you know that there is somebody or something using the web camera so if I do turn this off you'll see that that light goes off so that's nice there's no little switch or anything that'll allow you to cover that up but I'm not too worried about it you can always get like a little sticker and put it over there so yeah let's take a look at the uh the rest of the laptop and see what it comes with so I'm really digging this 12.5 inch laptop and it's so super small on the side here it's got the HDMI out for an external monitor USB it's got a USB C port on the other side since it is a small form factor it does have a direct ethernet port but this little switchy switch right here will pop out would allow you to be able to put the connector in it's got another USB it's got a SSD card reader which is very nice uh headphone jack and there's nothing on the back so let me go ahead and shut this down and we'll open up the back of the computer and just see how tidy it looks on the inside and it looks like we just have one two three four five six seven screws to take out here oh and that's actually pretty nice looks like each one of the screws has the I don't know what you call it the sort of lock on the back of the screw If someone knows what it is they can put it down in the comments but basically the back of the screw doesn't allow you to pull the screw all the way out what that means is I don't need this little magnetic mat to store my screws as I'm bringing them out because they are connected to the back plate super helpful if you don't want to have to lose all these little miniature screws while you're trying to take the back off and one of the most frightening parts of the hole take off the wall well that was actually pretty easy so as you can see the back comes off all the screws are still connected so let's take a look on the inside here so as you can see it looks pretty good on the inside here looks like they did a good pretty good sort of cleanup job you have your battery here looks like you have your memory stick here fan Wi-Fi and it looks like oh that's nice that there's actually an nvme drive in this so I could easily replace this with a larger hard drive if I wanted to literally right here ready for me to upgrade whenever I want it looks like I do have one dim slot which is fine that's the eight gig if I took it out I would replace it with the 16 which I believe is the max for this particular board but looking it over looks like there's not a lot of soot there's a little bit of marking on the metal here I'm not sure if that's just part of the machine but yeah overall I'm pretty happy with this so to put the back back on there's two little tiny notches on the back here just hook them in screw the screws back in alrighty Teddy Lefty Loosey uh screw screw screw screw screw and now that we're all set up with Windows let's go ahead and do a boot test see how fast this sucker pops up all right so boot test I'm on the go I'm ready to start typing out some stuff press the power button a couple seconds into the bootloader loading up Windows and I'm in ready to go don't look at my password super secret AAA I haven't set it up yet so it's a super super secret password for the laptop all right so that was a super fast boot uh that's one of the promising things or one of the good things about the having the uh the fast nvme Drive is that things will boot up real quick doesn't look like there's a lot of things that load on Startup either alrighty so let's boot up Edge see how fast that starts up pretty quick first thing we do with Edge is download Chrome yay go ahead and jump over to YouTube yeah so everything seems to be running pretty quickly no issues with this laptop so far so I think we got a winner here if you haven't yet feel free to watch my latest videos 15 Cool Tech gifts under 30 wireless charger tablet all that kind of stuff if you're interested see this little button right here that allows you to subscribe to my content if you want to click subscribe hit like on this video but all in all I really think that this little laptop is going to be a winner it's going to be perfect on the go if I need to use it in travel especially on like an airplane I have a small little laptop here for now I'm gonna let my kids use it at school I think the Chromebook that they had is actually super slow so this will be this will help out I'll also leave a link to the Dell refurbished site down below as well as a link to their coupon page I think one of the most important things about this I probably should have mentioned earlier is that if you get on their mailing list they will continually send you out good coupon codes like for example the one I used was I think Harvest 7490 or something like that and that particular case they gave me 40 off of this computer but they sent them out all year round but they also a page that lists them all so like I said I'll put those down below and again thanks for watching and this is Carl from technical goodies and I'm outhey hey folks
