"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys and welcome to petrol ped and welcome to the start of a very cool journey today I am off to meet my friends Chris and Michael from 4c prestige to start the discussions around my next car we're off we're gonna have a meet and have this chat around car finance we've got a number of questions that I'm you guys put forward to me I'm gonna talk about their ins and outs the pros and the cons all the various finance options hopefully come up with a couple of decisions and also start the hunt for my next car this should be interesting and also a well you don't want to miss it because what's gonna come to the channel in the next few weeks maybe months he's gonna be very cool whole it cycles well guys welcome to the channel Chris again I know natural pass highway good to have you back mate so you just met up a very lovely Country Club stroke golf club called Fox Hills just outside of Woking we're gonna go out for a bit of a drive and just have a chat about project my new car absolutely so we'll go off and find some nice roads we also have to be on the McLaren Tess Russo we will keep an eye out for anything nice from MTC there has the ascenders drive around and numerous other Australia we shall see I have a bit of a a bit of a history of spottings MacLaren's air on test routes motion so I do feel a bit of a traitor talking about my new car in my mini that's having to go to make way for my new car but let's first of all talk about what you guys are gonna help me with so you're gonna help me find my dream absolutely so we can understand what you want yep what you're trying to achieve yeah how you try to achieve it with furniture and then look at two things really get you the best car for you money yeah I get you access to the best finance for your needs yeah but your needs will be different someone else's and you've got contacts in a whole bunch of different dealers across a whole range of different brands so I can pretty much give you a cuz I don't yet know exactly what I want now that we're gonna go on and see if we can find some price nice examples yeah I mean the beauty of what we do this is we work on behalf of the client you know this case yourself yeah rather than a manufacturer or a dealer that's what about getting you the best car rather than trying to shoehorn ooh it's a cloud that you may not actually want but yeah want some yes so can we do an idiot's guide to car finance because now if you guys have seen the video I put out last May a couple of weeks ago about this I am petrified of car finance through experience in the past of maybe not having all the right financial product a couple of times and I bought this car cash and the great thing about that was no car finance involved but I can't do that for the next car I just don't have that amount of cash and arguably maybe that's not the most sensible I don't way to go yes Oh the thing is most cars on the on the road are on Finance yep even supercars and we know I heard a stat that 85% of Ferraris on or bought in finance and certainly from our experiences is about would say 95 percent or more of the cars that we source our confidence so if we go down the finance route then it's kind of do you the two bonds people know about most I guess first one is HP yeah so that's basically where you borrow the amount of money over a few at a time with interest and pay back and at the end of that you don't owe any money whatever is left at the car is yours yes yes and no so most people think that there's two types that there's this PCP personal contract player and this HP we just dance for my purchase yeah the the HP deals that we see yeah and that we help clients access to be have a balloon okay so that work just like your PCP yeah but they actually have a lot of other benefits too so you're not necessarily tied in to fix content okay now when you mention this HP with a balloon I'd never heard of that before so tests have a bit of a chat about that because for me I I want the kind of flexibility I've always been someone who keeps their car for quite a long time but potentially that might change and I might want to keep the staff a couple years and then be able to move it to something else yeah we see a lot of people that's they buy a car and circumstances might change there could be two years in that can be 18 months in there could be and it's about having flexibility yeah so if you are what you don't want to be the negativity at the pads we see a lot of people the love for the brand-new car on a PCP and they want to change the car to two years in under two and a half years in and they own the cars worth yep and there's and there's a number of reasons for that the the marketplace stays different but it was a number of issues around that need issues environmental issues but it's impacted or cars are worth or how they depreciate when the depreciate yet what you what you want is to be able to buy a car and put in a sensible deposit yeah ten percent you want to be out of fondant and then you want to be either exiting and at least have your deposit yeah so the reality is we see a lot of people that have bought what they thought was a great deal yeah and it turns out it wasn't yeah and the reason thirties you have to remember if a car is 40,000 pounds at some point somebody's gonna pay that money and it's not going to be it's gonna be you so if if it is it's 200 pounds a month yeah you can do a simple calculation and a work out well actually there's going to be a big payment we made at the end that's endured a lot more than the cars worth yeah so it's it's about making sure that you look at the overall cost of the deal it's not just about the monthly payment and that's one thing I say to everybody yeah don't just look at the monthly cost look at the total cost of ownership ask to see how much the interest is going to be ERC and what the final balloon is and that's so important that the final balloon payment yeah don't let it be dressed up as guaranteed minimum feature value that that stores struggle to understand what that means because it's something that you have to pay not somebody's going to pay use yeah it's not a good thing to have a really high guarantee in the future that you yeah it's better to have a yeah and the other thing is you know you've got to look at the APR yeah if you raise the blue the monthly payments could go down yeah and that's quite a lot but that typically is how people fight a higher interest rate okay so it's very important that you look at so the cost of a and you look at that APR 8 B in the 20s yeah and we see a lot of advertised APRs and obviously a lot of those deals that with attractive and you look at the APR it says 24.9% yeah so then I guess the challenge for me is is especially if you're not if you don't do finance so you're not that kind of financially astute it can all be a bit confusing so yes can we boil it down to kind of I don't know that there's some some do's and some don'ts whenever you'll get any finance deal because I guess we do need to know there's so many variables the car the person the circumstances the requirements there's no such thing as a one size fits all but there are see some one size fits all the do's and don'ts that anybody should add some really important ones first of all make sure you know what the APR is yep folk for us that should be an API on detent yeah concern should be in the teams fighting sports when C's down support deal for you don't under yeah so look understand will be a Morris yeah sometimes you'll see a very low rate and it looks a transit engineer flat rate you know what it relates to yeah so ask to see what the APR is of make sure we know the AP iris yeah really look at the total cost of the deal yeah local tea payment doesn't make it a good deal that is kind of really high balloon not potentially negative equity yep more you then have end up with a much higher cost depends it yep we asked a single total cost of interest is yep and then allows you to make informed choice do you actually want from this card is gone of course we miss about a man also remember no matter what at some point somebody don't play for that yep they're very mean that's going to be the buy yeah so also have a think about total cost of the car and how much it's gonna cost you do you want to spend that amount yeah I think the other thing that's important is certainly the Doozers don't don't necessarily just take what what's being offered to you yeah make sure that you know you can calculate quite easily what that car potentially is gonna be worth in a few years time you can appoint a one-year-old karna four-year deal and your final balloon payment is twenty thousand pounds go look what the equivalent five-year old model is going for because if it's going for fifteen thousand pounds or more totally yeah then a 20,000 pound pound balloon is not good for you look this might give you great monthly payments but you're gonna pay pay for it in the end what you really want is a nice even deal with a sensible balloon and sensible monthly payments yep yep you see that I just went when it's explained like that in people it sounds so obvious but I think for me you you see a car you want someone offers you a monthly payment and you're only thinking about what the monthly payment is gonna be and you don't think over the period of this this agreement how much I'm open I would say that probably three-quarters of the people we speak to who are on Finance don't actually know the final blueness or they don't actually understand what it means yeah and it's fundamental in but you really paying for a car so anybody some people don't know what their APR is they just fixated in the monthly payment yeah and then they need to change the car find out there start with a car because there's 7,000 pounds negative equity what about one of the ways for me thinking it's a bit of reducing my monthly payments would be to put nominee okay yes which does that but then you are running the risk of not seeing that money again if you person you call on a PCP I would say no to 1010 and we lose whatever the person you could have so if you put it 20,000 pounds you're gonna say provides 2,000 pound slam equally if you open it what's been your monthly payments will be much higher but again it's about getting that right blender knowing your your options are yeah if you put in a sense more deposit circa 10 percent yeah on a nearly new or used car yeah over the right term actually you could keep equity in the car and potentially let's get that deposit back or have that it was in the continental yep well you don't want is to end up having four thousand pounds on a car and then you need to change it and then you have only money for other deposits again now that one question for you because I've always bought living you yes up there must be a driver when when should you consider buying new and when should you consider buying nearly new I kind of what are the things you need to think about so really interesting question because the last couple of years since a variety of announcements we've seen an even bigger disparity between how a car depreciates initially yeah so I think right now if you insist upon buying a new car you need to think very carefully on that there is potential an exposure incentive is depreciation yeah because you buy nearly new whether that's with you months old of 18 months old then it's farm advantageous what I would say is probably the sweet spot is a 12 to 18 month old yeah because it's the least a big chunk of it's an issue of depreciation yep which when you're financing a car you've got to remember you'll be finance in the depreciation so when you find us a new car yep it is going to be more expensive finance because it's gonna be depreciate to the fire but laws of the premium cars and Mercedes of BMW now these great drivers once they've gone through the initial depreciation and therefore much better the finance yeah that's why you see because we know it's a very good interest rate environment factors because they realize that and that's the only way to to ship new but for us we still seeds first of the dude is for I guess if you if you want to speck a car and you're very particular about colors and trim and options and all those types of things then maybe your only option is to go on a configurator and have one built into your particular spec if you're a bit more flexible in your want this list than knitting you is a really good I think if you have a list of 15 absolute license yeah then it's going to be very difficult or funny use two colors get into the boxes yeah then you're gonna pay for that privilege to have a new cloud yeah and you won't see a return of those options either yeah if you have a little bit of flexibility so if we look at a national level to source a car usually you can find some because I've given you an aspect list of things I must have this for items so yeah just in case you want to know what that is it's any color but red panoramic roof very popular these days I like my panoramic groups the nicest sports seats so any seat up great I like my seats yep and a sports exhaust if if that particular model has the option to have a Sportage that's pretty much because most of the kind of premium type cars and boomer can have a decent entry over yes they're gonna have sack mouths and all of that type of stuff so so really those are my absolute must-haves so that hopefully makes finding my next car little easier okay so we need to think about what happens next indeed is the really exciting it is so I am going to give you a speck of a kind of car that I want yes and then you and your business partner Michael who really wanted to be on this film but I only got two seats in my car squeezed him on the parcel shelf he wasn't able to come on the video but you can then gone go into your various network of experts within the dealer network of whatever brand that might fancy yeah that's gonna be kept secret right now I've got three or four different cars that I'm interested in and basically go and find something that matches my requirements and you kind of do the legwork if you like that's the service that you provide and that includes making sure the car is absolutely yeah we we have severe relationships with a number of of dealer groups and the factors etc and sometimes you know people have a different view of what our used car is yeah we think it should be about perfect if it's helping you and as you're looking at a card store 15 20 25 30 whatever the price might be yeah often to the Daily News you know save the car many turn Maserati yeah you know it should look and feel good make sure it's not a hard life so you know we like fully approved cars along did he put all the details in the description below so if anyone is interested in in what happens next so what happens next guys is Chris and Michael have a spec of what I want and hopefully fingers crossed we're gonna go and find something rather special I think and then the numbers men can get me a decent finance deal and we're gonna want the progress and Ruby roadster is going to be replaced by something very very special now I'm going to do a few videos around cars that I am interested in buying so they will be hitting the channel very very soon but I want to thank you for your time today for coming along always a pleasure always have a nice call FINA Wieck these guys are just petrol heads so when you have a meeting you end up having a coffee end up chatting cars for about an hour and a half normally before we get any cameras going but it's going to be
