Greetings My Lovelies: Welcome Back to Today's Drink Recipe
Hello everyone, it's Emmy welcome back today I'll be making a drink that when I first heard of it I knew I had to try it just because of the curious nature of the ingredients actually the ingredients aren't that curious it's just the combination of the two ingredients is curious so I'll be combining orange juice with espresso apparently this drink is very popular in Phoenix Arizona which is a state here in the southwest and it is comprised of a tall glass of ice cold orange juice topped with a double shot of hot espresso it goes by a few names including a sunrise and OJ Express or a Good Morning Vietnam.
To make this drink I've got myself a tall glass I'm going to add some ice to that I'm making this drink for myself so I don't mind touching my own ice now I'm going to top it with some OJ I'm just using some store bought OJ if you want to get crazy fresh squeeze it have at it. So now that we have our OJ now we're going to add the energetic portion of this drink and that's a double shot of espresso I made this using my Aeropress if you missed that video be sure to check it out.
So now I'm going to use a spoon bartender style and kind of coax this onto here because we want this to be um kind of layered oh my god you're so beautiful look I am pouring it all over my countertop awesome look at that boom will you look at this thing of beauty isn't it gorgeous. I do have to say in the images that I saw there it seemed to be a higher proportion of orange juice to coffee but let's give it a go let me grab a straw oh look I have a Starbucks straw all right I drink it out of a straw I'm just gonna get orange juice lets try it this way all right cheers hmm that tastes mostly of coffee let me swish it around a little bit all right all right to get the full effect I'm going to just swish it all up its not as beautiful by any means but lets give it a go now thats actually pretty tasty wow wow I have to admit I wasn't expecting to like it but it's very very refreshing and the combination of coffee and orange juice actually works for me what you know what it becomes it becomes kind of like grapefruit juice yeah it really does.
And that's coming from a person that doesn't really like orange flavor anything except orange juice I don't like orange flavored cakes desserts chocolates but orange and coffee it's actually quite nice. What ends up happening here is actually pretty remarkable the sourness of both the espresso and the orange juice naturally complement each other and the sweetness of the orange juice goes really well with the bitterness and creates something that reminds me of grapefruit juice a little bit of bitterness sweetness citrus its not grapefruit juice but it's in that same family and of course you have the ice in there which makes the whole drink really really refreshing this is great I love this love it an odd combination to be sure but a delicious one highly recommend.
