Decorating for Christmas: A Personal Journey

As I sit down to write this article, surrounded by the festive decorations of my home, I am filled with a sense of joy and excitement. The holiday season is upon us, and I love getting into the spirit of things. For me, decorating for Christmas is not just about putting up some lights and garlands; it's a personal journey that takes me back to my childhood memories and special traditions.

I started by making a few treats, including peppermint bark candies wrapped in festive paper. I placed them inside tiny containers shaped like little cars with Christmas trees on top. It was a fun way to add a personal touch to my decorations. As I worked, I couldn't help but think of how much I love this time of year. There's something magical about the twinkling lights and the sound of Christmas carols that just makes me feel happy and cozy.

Next, I turned my attention to the living room. I picked out a few festive pillows, including ones shaped like giant peppermint candies. They added a pop of color and whimsy to the space. I also set up some Audible stocking holders, although I had to admit that we still needed two more. The stockings were already hanging from the mantel, and I loved how they looked with the festive holiday lights behind them.

As I worked on decorating the living room, I came across a special little car with a Christmas tree on top. It was just the right size for a side table, and it added a touch of whimsy to the space. I also didn't want to forget about Santa Claus, so I made sure to include some festive holiday food-themed decorations, including a pair of boots stacked on top of each other. They were perfect for holding treats or small gifts.

The next area I tackled was the bookshelf. I decided to go with a plaid theme, using a black and red table runner and adding in some festive holiday books, including "The Night Before Christmas". The rug beneath my feet added warmth and coziness to the space, and it was the perfect base for my decorations.

As I continued decorating, I realized that I needed something special to tie everything together. That's when I remembered a little Nutcracker figurine that I had recently purchased. It added just the right touch of magic to the room, and it brought back memories of my childhood love of all things nutcracker-themed. I also grabbed some festive towels and dishtowels from the store, which added a pop of color and fun to the space.

The final touches were added in the bathroom. I used a Christmas candle and a few festive soap dispensers to create a holiday-themed look. The room was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with snowflakes and gingerbread houses. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind during the busy holiday season.

As I stepped back to admire my handiwork, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Decorating for Christmas is a labor of love, but it's also a chance to get creative and have fun. Whether you're a seasoned decorator or just starting out, there are plenty of ways to make your space festive and welcoming during the holiday season.

okay and some of the big things like my enormous boots I'm absolutely obsessed with them but we are going to go get our Christmas tree right now and put it all of our Christmas stuff so I hope that you guys enjoyed this video and maybe get some ideas for decorating your own house all right ste in a bit hey guys so we just got to Lowe's and we're gonna go inside and get our tree basically it is Sunday November 24th and this is one of the few places that even have Christmas trees yet so luckily it was only like 15 minutes from our house so we're here hopefully they have good trees but we'll go find out okay so we got to drive to the other side of the building in the parking lot so I guess they have the trees there's like a tent outside with all the trees in it we're just gonna put the tree inside the car so you put down the backseat and just put down a towel and we're gonna use that so we don't scratch the top of the car also we have no rope or ties so multiple reasons but yeah so we're gonna put it inside the car so let's go find our tree this cold December day we are on our merry way driving alone justice through the snow they'll charge in who knows where to go okay so I want to treat that's like around seven feet but I want to be like really fluffy and we can't have a bunch of holes in it okay I don't know this is what being nice that's a few but without soap idiom poodle my dear we found our perfect tree and now we are off to pay for it and take our tree move look what we found we found real mistletoe and it has the Lowell flower on it got this eight-footer in the car we're going a bit in the drivers area but that's fine all right we scoot it over the table we have our tree stand and here is our eight-foot tree so I don't know what I am to this tree stand is no doesn't say okay well basically it's for up to like I think a nine-foot tree and it's super compact it's small so for reference size in my show but I like it and our treatment fall over last year was pretty steady so let's hope that remains the case these are sick sit these are our little Christmas tree decorators our little helpers oh we got a little bit Oh hi hunter they're so excited this is their first Christmas so hunter hi sweet boy hi sweetness and this is Sadie girl Sadie honey oh you're such a good girl you're such a good girl guys ready you guys ready to decorate for your first Christmas you ready to decorate that's a yes let's get started snowball each hand take me away Christmas Day where's joy family's near we give thanks for this pasty Oh that we what the greenery the light with glimmering ciguatera ripple from big to small warm laughter and white smiles her presence stacked in pie take me all the way Christmas Day look up a few all our stockings are this is mine says babes and this is Darren said handsome pants and then we got the pups we got the matching ones Sadie girl hers matches mine and hunters matches his dad's there's true things for these past Oh we have our snowflake up top we have quite a few ornaments we're trying to find spots for new ones goods we still have quite a few left in our boxes but we're trying to get a variety of them in here look we have some Disney ones right here there's Minnie Mouse here's Minnie Mouse's skirt we've got a corn here we are and one of our first Christmas ornaments and then we've got our Disney first Christmas one up here and then some of our travel so there's New York we have a rubra that one's from Italy I don't know where the other ones are but we've got our variety of them this is one of my favorites here we have our tree critic Hunter what do you think of the trees you can't you see the tree can you hear hunter come on see there we go there we go now what do you think of the tree looks great okay so now we got rid of all the bins and now we have to put out all of the rest of our Christmas decor so this is the rest of the stuff we're working with and then here are some other trees that we have to fluff out and we have a sleigh over here we've got a few smaller trees back there we have these enormous Santa boots here and then for each couch we have some Christmas pillows the dogs were laying on them so that's why they're over there but some of my favorite things here is this phone right here it says direct line to Santa these little pillows they look like enormous little candies and then I got this meeseeks blue door not last year and then we got some real mistletoe this year but off Amazon last year we got this fake one and it looks real it's really cute I got some these little Santa's this is a cookie jar this right here we haven't hooked it up yet but we plug the tree into this and then whenever you switch this on then denta and then the tree will do the second half of the music and will light up and dance it's really cool I'll show you in a bit and then these are little ice skates oh shoot these little stockings are a little garland that help countdown I took Christmas night for Christmas we got some those signs little winter birds this lights up and spins the glitter Nutcracker some other festive pillows and those are candle holders these are put in like laughs so just some like plastic ornaments we got a wooden snowflake I think I got that from world market this was from Target that metal one these are just bull boots so elf is Santa boots I think last year we stacked him up they light up but we didn't use that last year so we'll see what we end up doing this year oh shoot all good got some more signs where's this we wish you Merry Christmas I love this little car and then have yourself a merry little Christmas or things these bears belong to Thirteen's grandma or great-grandma so last year we put them in the little sled but this year I'm thinking that the dogs are going to think that there are toys so not sure we're gonna do that this little squirrel building a snowman oh these are all soap dispensers they're soaping them that's why they're in plastic bags so this one's a nutcracker that one's for the kitchen sink and then for the three bathroom sinks little gingerbread houses yeah they're pretty darn cute if some Mickey Mouse seeing ears and stuff oh these are really cool so their butt and hands are weighted so we put them up there and they just like hang down over the little hallway cells show you guys all once we finished putting them all up we have bathroom towels those and we have some other fella leather llama mm-hmm we got a few different ones and then those are stocking peddlers although we need two more we bought sadie and hunter their stockings but we did not get them their stocking holders just yet so hopefully we can find more of those we just got those a Home Depot so I've gone to check twice they have them yet but hopefully they do soon because I tried in like August so I've been to early all right well let's get started Oh jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way oh what fun in the one-horse open sleigh jingle bells jingle bells all the way Oh it is to write in the one-horse open sleigh that she to this one-horse open sleigh over the fields we go bells on bobtails ring making spirits bright what fun it is sing a sleighing song tonight bells jingle bells jingle all the way oh what fun it is to ride in jingle bells jingle bells so we just finished so on the walk guy screws you can kind of what we ended up doing and really excited it literally took all day we started cleaning at like 9 10 a.m. and we just finished and it is almost 10 yeah so literally big all day but over here or first I guess I'll start to the outside so we just do a little Christmas mats and we did this instead of a wreath and then our world Christmas mat just says Merry Christmas men once you come in we have the giant stands and boots and usually we will fill them with either a miniature or a full-sized candy canes but now that we got the cups this year we were scared that they might try to get into it so we decided to switch them out for just the plastic ornaments so on our tree we have our glass ornaments that we were scared that if the dogs accidentally try to get involved or want to take the ball at least they're not gonna bring it so or hurt themselves then over here we just have this little squirrel building a snowman and we put a little Santa hats on the pillows there and Christmas candle and then we just have this little jar and to make it festive we're gonna fill it with small ornaments but it ended up being too small over the orders were too big is the bowl was too small so do we just fill them with candy canes actually end up looking really cute and then this turns on like actually don't hold that paper okay well you can't really see right now but it lights up different colors and it's just like throwing the glitter everywhere so it's kind of like a snow globe but it looks like candles and then this is what I was fighting guys about earlier okay so we got it at Hallmark it was a gift from my mother-in-law and all right so you have to watch the tree with it okay basically the best thing ever I'm Way ahead of things so I pretty much did a majority of my Christmas shopping already too so we just don't threw all those gifts under the tree and then we did a gold table runner it's just like gold sequins we got this and off-campus on and then these are candlestick holders that we don't candle throw me out when you need to get some so ignore that and then so squirrel guy which in stores the pocket of his nose so I'm going to try to paint it and see if I can put some glitter on it to repair a name because I'm really sad I really liked him I couldn't even find the chip in the big boxes so I don't know what happened to him but he got injured so I'm try picks up over here we have little iced tea and then a wool festive hello Taylor soft and then over here we didn't do too much we just have people like Santa gnome head things and then just a festive candle and then oh we have a missile develop here oh and then we did a second mistletoe here so that one is not real yet or not when I bought Amazon last year and then when we're picking up our Christmas tree from blows today we ended up finding a real one so we bought that and then here we have more of this little nose I know we want kind of prey to the gnome so lost here and then a little sigh I wish you Merry Christmas have yourself Merry Christmas salted gingersnap and also it smells good and then over here we have a little forest so our sled is going through the forest and with this there are a little like Christmas teddy bears and we had kind of inherited them from a few generations back for my husband's side but again the pups they are teddy bears and the dogs kept thinking that and things stuff is a toy so this year we started again go with plastic ornaments so that trying to eat it or terrible and then this thing so it says Santa Fe stock here and then on the side you can change how many days so we're too much 25 is as many as people put on there just expect you to start during Christmas which we start a little early we have the elves Huxley elves of their we're on each side over here I got this after Christmas last year for Macy's that thing goes like 6 bucks but I just thought he was really cute I'm he doesn't know that too much to do about Christmas that he's just I don't know winter think he's a hedgehog ready guess and then this admin calendar I also got after Christmas buster so we didn't really know where to put it but I think this looks pretty good I bought this from Target and then I'm we should put on candy so we did the little red Lind or chocolate truffles and then the Ghirardelli peppermint bark inside each one so I think it looked like you I like how it turned out absolutely love this little car with the Christmas tree over here just festive candle didn't do too much with that and then we have our little penguin so it's kind of cold he's like boxes at stacks I don't know where he came from but then okay these pillows I understand that going to go they look like giant candies like peppermint I think yeah so we got two about me one over there two festive - the rug blanket then over here we decided to go with a plaid light so we want a little black and red table runner and our which I absolutely love I love this little Nutcracker so I'm recently obsessing nutcrackers so I feel like we need one or two other little things here but I don't know what yet so I think we're not to go to the store and try to kind for something and then we didn't have any we've been switching out past the pillows to be festive this year but we don't want me for Christmas so I actually grabbed these from will we head out for Halloween I'm in the other room and they kind of tie together with the plot so I don't know if that's gonna stay there but for now I can get at least ties things in over here we have our little cookie jar where do you have cookies but I don't know about cookie jars I feel like so you don't actually keep them fresh it like they're more so for looks so probably not actually use it for cookies and then we have more of the linear chocolate peppermint my great-grandma always have bowls of candy on her counter so my mom always did it and now I always do it so throughout the seasons I just switch them out first seasonal candy so laughter I think I've had some like as mini candy canes in here and stuff but this year I ended up putting the mini candy canes in here I'm like during Halloween I'll put on candy corn in here so I also kind of scoff this out for seasonal stuff and then we have surprise surprise another Nutcracker this guy's soap dispenser festival towels we have these little snowbirds and our little science says it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas I love that little sign just won't try on a little focus but yeah and then we have some festival dishtowels here and I think that kind of wraps it up for this area in the bathrooms we also have it's from like the same brand company that made that soap maker I'll just show you so we got a little cute soap maker or soap dispensers for all the bathrooms and so obviously we kind of switch out the spray of course that little air wig thing is also now Christmas stuff we have a Christmas candle once again we've got another Nutcracker and then look how cute that but that's not catching on fire and then look how cute this is a little gingerbread house yeah so we have the same one for the master bathroom at each of the sinks too and then probably can't see it but Bella Lama this is my cute little Christmas llamas and look they're carrying a little presents isn't that cute yeah I'm obsessed so now just happening with that okay what's your under the time I think that's different one thing though okay it has multiple songs I think it's a different one that did last time I don't whatever I've heard it so many times okay I think that throughout the seasons I just switch them out first seasonal candy so laughter I think I've had some like as mini candy canes in here and stuff but this year I ended up putting the mini candy canes in here I'm like during Halloween I'll put on candy corn in here so I also kind of scoff this out for seasonal stuff and then we have surprise surprise another Nutcracker this guy's soap dispenser festival towels we have these little snowbirds and our little science says it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas I love that little sign just won't try on a little focus but yeah and then we have some festival dishtowels here and I think that kind of wraps it up for this area in the bathrooms we also have it's from like the same brand company that made that soap maker I'll just show you so we got a little cute soap maker or soap dispensers for all the bathrooms and so obviously we kind of switch out the spray of course that little air wig thing is also now Christmas stuff we have a Christmas candle once again we've got another Nutcracker and then look how cute that but that's not catching on fire and then look how cute this is a little gingerbread house yeah so we have the same one for the master bathroom at each of the sinks too and then probably can't see it but Bella Lama this is my cute little Christmas llamas and look they're carrying a little presents isn't that cute yeah I'm obsessed so now just happening with that okay what's your under the time I think that's different one thing though okay it has multiple songs I think it's a different one that did last time I don't whatever I've heard it so many times okay I think that is basically it so I hope you guys have enjoyed our decorating and it was so much fun it took felt really long time but I think you guys
