Turbo Kit Installation: A Step-by-Step Journey

The team has been working tirelessly to install a turbo kit on their engine, and it's finally starting to come together. The process has been a labor of love, with each step carefully planned and executed to ensure a successful outcome. "I'm three casual folks, okay, low-key yeah, we were talking about bringing it here," says one of the team members, referring to the turbo kit that's been in the making for a while. "Well, we obviously didn't bring it cuz this has been in the making for a while. This turbo kit but it all sort of came together with like a PD as we're told the turbo kit is on it's like ready and then I actually had it said to bring my car down but wasn't the open rental." The team acknowledges that they didn't quite prepare properly, which may have put them behind schedule.

Despite the minor setbacks, the team remains optimistic about their progress. "We'll do it we'll do it we'll do it again we'll make happen it seems all too easy like I feel like I'm so used to doing like the crazy gnarly engine build that bolting and turbo on a stock car and the fact that we might be able to just press this engine on button and turn it on right now," says another team member. This attitude of confidence and enthusiasm is palpable as they continue with their work.

The team is excited to see how the engine will perform once the turbo kit is installed. "Alberto is gonna get the biggest smile on his face when he hears this turbo," jokes one team member, referencing Alberto's love for turbocharged engines. The team is also curious about what will happen when they plug in the turbo kit and start it up for the first time. "What some not plugged in what I don't know what could be not flowed in but sometime up again I'm checking these because I've been that boy dude," says one of the team members.

As they begin to test the engine, the team is thrilled with the results. "Oh my god I got to hang on first try No look at that smile notice it's a little high in the rear right now we actually raised it just because for the drag wheels I don't want to have them rub and right now this thing is on a mission to be a drag car so stance isn't perfect right now but the cool thing is it doesn't really affect the alignment much," explains one of the team members. The team is also excited about the sound of the engine, which they describe as "crazy" and "wild." They've even driven around the block once to hear the full sound of the turbocharged engine.

The team's enthusiasm for their project is infectious, and they're eager to share their progress with others. As one of them puts it, "Sounds insane hey like almost sounds fake dude with the little flutter too like you can kind of hear it sir we're not really even on the gas when you're on it it's just like I want a floor but I'm not gonna there's still a little lag." you got for me there Alberto boost yeah so we got a package from the guys over at boost logic and I know I told you guys we've been doing a big single kit for the Supra and it's arrived and today is going to be nuts you just pick things up here on the dish home to clean it up he'll be here eventually alright so we're gonna cringe watching this oh this is a good one I can tell it's like fishing this just feels like a turbo sucks to be you know it's like we're going fishing oh this is gonna be so nice the turbo kit that we got fully comprehensive so literally all the lines will be done all the fabric should be done all the gaskets we need are here so we should just be plug-and-play and down pipe even look at that so I know this is made to bolt up to the factory exhaust so we might have to modify it a little bit since my exhaust is a little bit wider where it meets the downpipe but that should be simple I know a guy that can weld so even though this may just look like an ordinary g37 70 this thing is very very special because it's actually had a lot of custom work done to it the obvious boost logic wall did a flange on to a soda bolt up to the charge pipe etc but what's cool about it they were actually able to machine a custom housing so this thing would be t4 and except they're manifold and work with their turbo kit and then on top of that we had OCD works do the t51 our mod so if you notice in here there's lots of little machining and all I can say is it's gonna make this thing sound wild hell bird has probably stoked about that you stoked it's gonna go so rad looking with how Garrett rates this turbo I would say with full confidence we'll be able to hit 700 horsepower if the trans and everything else will take it worlds Tiny's manifold in your hands right now look at that thing it's so cute alright how are the welds Albert off tell me about the welds they were good they were almost as good as mine you saw my bosch bar would you think oh my - Bonnie hey what are you thinking I want to weld this stuff like I never welded like this I schedule 10 or 40 pipe you see 1 my welds hard she gonna loop with it well this is nice so satisfying opening this stuff we got a nice little intake set up right here aftermarket charge pipe no this is the piece right here that looks wild so unfortunately if you guys know anything about turbo set ups you know that this means we are going to be recirculating the wastegate as cool as it would have been to do you know open dump wave skate I don't want the car to be obnoxiously loud and screaming so the cool thing about recirculating the exhaust it'll make it a little bit more of a sleeper but you also hear a lot more turbo noise it's a lot more complicated to weld but fortunately their kit is designed around that that what's nuts kind of reminds me of my you 92 so what I'll say in Alberta the only thing that we're going to need to do is possibly like this is going to need to be a little bit bigger so I don't know if maybe we can get away with cutting this and just welding a straight piece on to like here instead but I know that my actual exhaust I think is like a half inch bigger than this actually so how is the difference family really the whole thing wants to be cut off yeah but I mean at least it's one wild though you know what I mean yeah that'll make it kind of simple so this is designed to bolt onto a stock exhaust where we have the EPS one that has a little bit bigger transition and that will help a lot for power cuz then instead of having this gnarly step-down this this boy right here will just be open now pretty much covers everything for the turbo kit for most part the only other thing we've got a nice gate from our homies over at turbosmart it'll pay right up with this kit we already went to a lot of detail of why these things are so rad but between the machining inside and the ease of changing Springs and everything it's a very very rad piece and helped us a lot with our boost issues on the Z so this is their 45 mil gate and it should be enough to control boost on this thing rat's nest of an onion Bay you working with don't mind this we'll talk about this later I would do a terrible job at plugging my own merch but I want to take a quick second and show you guys some the new step that we have we actually had it for Christmas but there's so much stuff going on with the open house everything go on that I never actually even got a chance to really show you in the video so we've got two new hoodies and this is one of them these are full custom cut and so these aren't blanks with our own custom sizing and everything a lot of cool details in these like metal branded strings and cool little metal eyelets here very very nice hoodies and these are pretty thick and warm for the winter lots of attention to detail on these this one's my personal favorite this is one that I've been wearing furnish the whole CT trip it's just so subtle that you could probably barely even notice so it's got this cool technique where the designs actually embossed into fabric but there's no sort of like ink or anything so it's very subtle and then it has all the same cool details in the tag branded metal our custom sizing and just very nice all around I know a lot of times you guys will ask me for tips on sizing stuff I am 6 foot 1 and I wear an XL just for a little bit of extra length and I like method he's baggy so if you're similar built to me I'd go XL over large this is another very very cool full custom piece this is not your generic windbreaker blank with a logo slapped on it we've got cool details everywhere but the best part about these is the inside so the liner on these I kind of based off another windbreaker coach jacket that I had that I really liked and our last year's one that you guys all like so it's like a really nice mesh liner rather than just being one layer really good sizing on these we have sizing charts if you guys want to compare to anything else you have but again a very nice piece but I know you guys will be stoked on being kind of speaks for herself but we've got these and these are pretty cool too and then last but not least we have one more other very very cool piece pretty much the same as the black windbreaker jacket that I just showed you but this one's a very cool custom subtle camo so I'm not a huge camo fan and I kind of wanted it to be a little bit more than like super in-your-face Yee so it's kind of one of those things where it's subtle and you won't really notice it but it's very cool especially with all the orange accents and stuff so we don't have any sales going on right at the moment but if you guys do mention in the order comments field and you're placing your order that you saw this video I'll potentially blown head gasket or something very bad was going on but Pat realized this morning when we were rebleeding it that down here it's gonna be kinda hard to see in the video but the higher for the fan is actually broken so these wires probably just hit the pulley since they're not really faster than anything and it broke the connection so I'm gonna redo this connection for the fans and I'm pretty sure the only reason why it overheated is just because I didn't have any fans on grid which means hopefully fingers crossed this engine is okay while I was out working on the Z look who showed up what are you doing in Florida I'm gonna make this go fast we're gonna do nine yeah for sure alright for sure guaranteed alright so Jordan has been helping me behind the scenes figure everything out where the turbo go and Silber don't run off with it anyway what are you doing right now I'm worn a micro squirt I wired bunch of in New York but for time reasons I had to like do some of it here so we have micro squirt control unlike the boost port injection I didn't tell him moved in port injection should I explain that real quick alright so everyone stop papa doctors video right and I guess he had an issue where he ran port injection and it was burning up the tips of the stock injectors but the thing is because he was running on a standalone because that car is gonna be like a drift car or some sort of proper race car they weren't using the factory direct injection because it's really hard to control so they were just sitting there idly we are going to use the factory direct injection but the port injection is just supplement on top of that because we can't get enough fuel if we want to run a t5 with port injection is that accurate well you can't get enough fuel if you want to run a t5 on just your acting guys correct yeah but yes the foreign nation will be test it'd be six extra fuel injectors and this box will control those and control all the boost it's a pretty standard procedure on BMW stuff that's what I have on my n54 and you are controlling either with a microscope which is kind of cool yeah a lot of people run the AIC six which is a different box the problem is there's no throttle inputs when you lift off the gas you'll have like big burst of flames and which is cooling all bits not cooling you run a lot of boost and you'll get like it does really really weird things I don't like it all cars we knew lately eyewire and micros were teased a lot more time but it controls boost all-in-one my car controls nitrous so you can do a lot with a little box rather than like a 500 control a five-mile controller and then you have like five in your program this is all in one live just works I don't I don't know if I formally introduced Jordan but this is Jordan Ark iTunes you guys might not recognize him with his new beer I thought it was like some random hipster walking in my shop I didn't realize it was you so he flew down here just to help get the super dial then help us get everything set up he's been working with boost logic getting this kit Specht out help me got all the parts and everything so I walked away with it yeah it's okay we've we've already showed it in the video but yes so we're gonna hopefully get this thing running today maybe tune it tomorrow and dude that's that turbo is gonna sound rad I hope you know yeah it's gonna sound good so have you tuned any of their kits yet I did one we made 750 wheels oh yeah race gas Matt we put the same port injection kit on it and I put another fuel pump on it but I just haven't had a chance to read I know I finally like finish it like last week maybe like two weeks Aubrey now should be 800 850 stop motor and then I got Pistons rods that all Springs everything ready to go but time for and wise might be another month or so with this thing do you I think it's pretty safe to say even like I'm not opposed if we have to run race gas and math if we can't get the port injection to work I think 700 should be a safe bet yeah I know that I know that turbo will do it if the tuner thinks he can make it work alright so Jordans doing a bunch of wiring stuff on this Alberto has been like fitting the lines and stuff and I'm kind of taking little initiative of zero to try to get that thing works properly again so I'm just gonna rewire all the fans stuff in that but at first I'm going to test them to make sure they're actually working the homies over at D Forex did us a mega solid and they actually overnighted us a set of thousand CC mini short length injectors which will work perfect for the port injection kit that we're using we're kind of using not so common setup it's actually designed for a B 50 and BMW but with a few modifications were able to get it to work Els evolution of speed they are gonna be making a kit for this car it does fit they just have to change a few things so I have one like a more production kid on the other super we have this is more like for time reasons we had to modify a few things to make it work but they are coming out with a full kit cool you will be able to buy it bolted on sick first thing I'm gonna do is pull this expansion tank out of here I'll give us a little bit more room to see what's going on as I said before this wiring kind of hit the pulley looks like a melted a little bit who knows what's shorted out some wires here look all mangled and stuff so I'm gonna make sure the fans work and then probably end up rewiring a lot of it so each fan has its own independent plug and I tested power up both made sure both fans reckon they do and then there's like a little controller here that tells which man to fit on tested that that works as well so that leads me to believe that there is indeed an issue with the wiring so a good thing is I've got everything on plug so now I can just kind of trace through the wiring make sure it's all okay because there's most likely a short without get a so what I did kind of like a simple fix I couldn't figure out where the issue was but the purple wire was grounded and when it's grounded the whole thing doesn't work so by snipping that wire since that's part of where the issue is well the child's outside playing with his fans what's Alberto big boost doing in here huh are you wet turbos plural you said turbos turbo oh yeah me and Jordan got excited for a second 30 me on this right so question for you did you tighten this first are you gonna do that once it's in the car no it's already time okay I was gonna say that probably makes it ways your access huh put the gasket with all the bolts right and I also put all the hoses in so what I ended up doing I marked up all the hoses and make sure everything bolted up before attempting this part that way don't run into any issues the turbos also clogged the cartridge has already clocked the way it should be as well and then I also had to modify this stud right here I had to make it a little bit shorter than the rest because this one will hit with the turbo bolt so what's kind of cool about this setup traditionally you'd have let's say six runners and then it would be very difficult to do this and then put the manifold on because you wouldn't be able to access all the bolts to the runners where in this case since there's literally two exhaust ports and there's only three bolts on each it's very easy to access so it's kind of like the stock set up in a way where we're installing it with a manifold already connected to the turbo so kind of a unique way to do it but it's definitely the most simple way to do it on this car I'm so it flows so much power to just those two little rolls there they're bigger than a t4 twin sternal opening and now maybe I got 12 1,300 horsepower little baby are ya I mean I don't know I think it's really true it's really true they're pretty big holes they look really small for you guys some had they have six like this that has two they're like I know what you're saying though as long as the inside design is good does that mean my 13 may flows more power than this I was like - they got a run doing more power forward oh and in case you guys didn't notice this is a bottom mount not a top mount kit cool thing about bottomed out a little bit better center gravity with it being down low and for this car there's plenty of room to do it like that what are your thoughts on top mount versus bottom mount you can heat the valve cover up my car especially in BMWs like 54 even the f80 because it's 202 is like each one for me you'll have to be able to in the header and make it's really common for condensation it's like my car problems this you could do a top mount it'll work but for heat reasons like this is pretty good feel like the average person driving their car yes is better but it doesn't look this cool I think it looks pretty cool it's a sleeper what's next we can put a NOS bottle on the back of this thing alright I say we take her on a smoothie run what do you say alright never driven on the street with these boys I don't know how it's gonna be there's been a little with these tires but she could be worse smell that ring gap I smell something what's hypest anything bouncers on the hall I said he's probably making like AI sevens really it's not crazy breathing actually mounting the turbo and the super was kind of a challenge I came and clutch with my little arms cuz uh getting the clamp on was kind of tricky with the bottom mount location trying to get everything lined up and everything right now we're tuned in the spring on the turbosmart and we're gonna start off with a 17-pound spring that way we can go up to as high as mid 30s if we need to make up ton of power but haven't as low as you know seventeen to nineteen for a pump gas safe map it's gonna be a second three pound plus fourteen pound makes seventeen pounds I've been doing a terrible job at documenting everything that's going on we've got the port injection on hot sides on I just pulled the plug so we could gap those and put new ones in what's the secret sauce can we reveal to them the trick on these cars what is it I just use the same vlog on everything what is it nine seven five OH six NGK is a secret tell me about it why do you like it ah now it's a eight heat range it's uh I can get it easily everywhere I run am I am three making 1,100 horsepower casual had misfires a fuel run special plugs from late Europe from quite fuel cars because they're better I mean I run these on fully five on every fuel and never have issues it don't work morning when we were rebleeding it that down here it's gonna be kinda hard to see in the video but the higher for the fan is actually broken so these wires probably just hit the pulley since they're not really faster than anything and it broke the connection so I'm gonna redo this connection for the fans and I'm pretty sure the only reason why it overheated is just because I didn't have any fans on grid which means hopefully fingers crossed this engine is okay while I was out working on the Z look who showed up what are you doing in Florida I'm gonna make this go fast we're gonna do nine yeah for sure alright for sure guaranteed alright so Jordan has been helping me behind the scenes figure everything out where the turbo go and Silber don't run off with it anyway what are you doing right now I'm worn a micro squirt I wired bunch of in New York but for time reasons I had to like do some of it here so we have micro squirt control unlike the boost port injection I didn't tell him moved in port injection should I explain that real quick alright so everyone stop papa doctors video right and I guess he had an issue where he ran port injection and it was burning up the tips of the stock injectors but the thing is because he was running on a standalone because that car is gonna be like a drift car or some sort of proper race car they weren't using the factory direct injection because it's really hard to control so they were just sitting there idly we are going to use the factory direct injection but the port injection is just supplement on top of that because we can't get enough fuel if we want to run a t5 with port injection is that accurate well you can't get enough fuel if you want to run a t5 on just your acting guys correct yeah but yes the foreign nation will be test it'd be six extra fuel injectors and this box will control those and control all the boost it's a pretty standard procedure on BMW stuff that's what I have on my n54 and you are controlling either with a microscope which is kind of cool yeah a lot of people run the AIC six which is a different box the problem is there's no throttle inputs when you lift off the gas you'll have like big burst of flames and which is cooling all bits not cooling you run a lot of boost and you'll get like it does really really weird things I don't like it all cars we knew lately eyewire and micros were teased a lot more time but it controls boost all-in-one my car controls nitrous so you can do a lot with a little box rather than like a 500 control a five-mile controller and then you have like five in your program this is all in one live just works I don't I don't know if I formally introduced Jordan but this is Jordan Ark iTunes you guys might not recognize him with his new beer I thought it was like some random hipster walking in my shop I didn't realize it was you so he flew down here just to help get the super dial then help us get everything set up he's been working with boost logic getting this kit Specht out help me got all the parts and everything so I walked away with it yeah it's okay we've we've already showed it in the video but yes so we're gonna hopefully get this thing running today maybe tune it tomorrow and dude that's that turbo is gonna sound rad I hope you know yeah it's gonna sound good so have you tuned any of their kits yet I did one we made 750 wheels oh yeah race gas Matt we put the same port injection kit on it and I put another fuel pump on it but I just haven't had a chance to read I know I finally like finish it like last week maybe like two weeks Aubrey now should be 800 850 stop motor and then I got Pistons rods that all Springs everything ready to go but time for and wise might be another month or so with this thing do you I think it's pretty safe to say even like I'm not opposed if we have to run race gas and math if we can't get the port injection to work I think 700 should be a safe bet yeah I know that I know that turbo will do it if the tuner thinks he can make it work alright so Jordans doing a bunch of wiring stuff on this Alberto has been like fitting the lines and stuff and I'm kind of taking little initiative of zero to try to get that thing works properly again so I'm just gonna rewire all the fans stuff in that but at first I'm going to test them to make sure they're actually working the homies over at D Forex did us a mega solid and they actually overnighted us a set of thousand CC mini short length injectors which will work perfect for the port injection kit that we're using we're kind of using not so common setup it's actually designed for a B 50 and BMW but with a few modifications were able to get it to work Els evolution of speed they are gonna be making a kit for this car it does fit they just have to change a few things so I have one like a more production kid on the other super we have this is more like for time reasons we had to modify a few things to make it work but they are coming out with a full kit cool you will be able to buy it bolted on sick first thing I'm gonna do is pull this expansion tank out of here I'll give us a little bit more room to see what's going on as I said before this wiring kind of hit the pulley looks like a melted a little bit who knows what's shorted out some wires here look all mangled and stuff so I'm gonna make sure the fans work and then probably end up rewiring a lot of it so each fan has its own independent plug and I tested power up both made sure both fans reckon they do and then there's like a little controller here that tells which man to fit on tested that that works as well so that leads me to believe that there is indeed an issue with the wiring so a good thing is I've got everything on plug so now I can just kind of trace through the wiring make sure it's all okay because there's most likely a short without get a so what I did kind of like a simple fix I couldn't figure out where the issue was but the purple wire was grounded and when it's grounded the whole thing doesn't work so by snipping that wire since that's part of where the issue is well the child's outside playing with his fans what's Alberto big boost doing in here huh are you wet turbos plural you said turbos turbo oh yeah me and Jordan got excited for a second 30 me on this right so question for you did you tighten this first are you gonna do that once it's in the car no it's already time okay I was gonna say that probably makes it ways your access huh put the gasket with all the bolts right and I also put all the hoses in so what I ended up doing I marked up all the hoses and make sure everything bolted up before attempting this part that way don't run into any issues the turbos also clogged the cartridge has already clocked the way it should be as well and then I also had to modify this stud right here I had to make it a little bit shorter than the rest because this one will hit with the turbo bolt so what's kind of cool about this setup traditionally you'd have let's say six runners and then it would be very difficult to do this and then put the manifold on because you wouldn't be able to access all the bolts to the runners where in this case since there's literally two exhaust ports and there's only three bolts on each it's very easy to access so it's kind of like the stock set up in a way where we're installing it with a manifold already connected to the turbo so kind of a unique way to do it but it's definitely the most simple way to do it on this car I'm so it flows so much power to just those two little rolls there they're bigger than a t4 twin sternal opening and now maybe I got 12 1,300 horsepower little baby are ya I mean I don't know I think it's really true it's really true they're pretty big holes they look really small for you guys some had they have six like this that has two they're like I know what you're saying though as long as the inside design is good does that mean my 13 may flows more power than this I was like - they got a run doing more power forward oh and in case you guys didn't notice this is a bottom mount not a top mount kit cool thing about bottomed out a little bit better center gravity with it being down low and for this car there's plenty of room to do it like that what are your thoughts on top mount versus bottom mount you can heat the valve cover up my car especially in BMWs like 54 even the f80 because it's 202 is like each one for me you'll have to be able to in the header and make it's really common for condensation it's like my car problems this you could do a top mount it'll work but for heat reasons like this is pretty good feel like the average person driving their car yes is better but it doesn't look this cool I think it looks pretty cool it's a sleeper what's next we can put a NOS bottle on the back of this thing alright I say we take her on a smoothie run what do you say alright never driven on the street with these boys I don't know how it's gonna be there's been a little with these tires but she could be worse smell that ring gap I smell something what's hypest anything bouncers on the hall I said he's probably making like AI sevens really it's not crazy breathing actually mounting the turbo and the super was kind of a challenge I came and clutch with my little arms cuz uh getting the clamp on was kind of tricky with the bottom mount location trying to get everything lined up and everything right now we're tuned in the spring on the turbosmart and we're gonna start off with a 17-pound spring that way we can go up to as high as mid 30s if we need to make up ton of power but haven't as low as you know seventeen to nineteen for a pump gas safe map it's gonna be a second three pound plus fourteen pound makes seventeen pounds I've been doing a terrible job at documenting everything that's going on we've got the port injection on hot sides on I just pulled the plug so we could gap those and put new ones in what's the secret sauce can we reveal to them the trick on these cars what is it I just use the same vlog on everything what is it nine seven five OH six NGK is a secret tell me about it why do you like it ah now it's a eight heat range it's uh I can get it easily everywhere I run am I am three making 1,100 horsepower casual had misfires a fuel run special plugs from late Europe from quite fuel cars because they're better I mean I run these on fully five on every fuel and never have issues it don't work here that guy's eleven hundred power I'm three casual folks okay low-key yeah we were talking about bringing here well we obviously didn't bring it cuz this has been in the making for a while this turbo kit but it all sort of came together with like a PD as we're told the turbo kit is on it's like is ready and then I actually had it said to bring my car down but wasn't the open rental I really didn't prepare properly sounds like for me to bring my car the cost just wasn't it just wasn't that worth it we'll do it we'll do it we'll do it again we'll make happen it seems all too easy like I feel like I'm so used to doing like the crazy gnarly engine build that bolting and turbo on a stock car and the fact that we might be able to just press this engine on button and turn it on right now he's kind of freaking me out a little bit Alberto is gonna get the biggest smile on his face when he hears this turbo what some not plugged in what I don't know what could be not flowed in but sometime up again I'm checking these because I've been that boy dude okay oh my god I got to on a mission to be a drag car so stance isn't perfect right now but the cool thing is it doesn't really affect the alignment much so I'm able to raise it and drop it back down if I need to without
