The Day After Christmas Party: A Cleaning and Reflection Adventure

I ordered it super quick um but then unfortunately I had to get on the freeway because the lane I was in so I just got off the first exit and I'm heading back to go over turn everything I just bought so yeah it turns out I did not have to come here today going going back back to return this return so while I was making the returns I ended up having a bit of an emotional connection with some of the items and I ended up keeping some so I think I can put um some of the big ones in the downstairs bathroom that's what I started thinking about when he was scanning everything so I actually decided to keep like four items I'll show you guys when I get home okay.

So after returning all those unwanted gifts, I spent some time cleaning up the mess. I cleared everything off the tables, swept and mopped the areas that needed it, got rid of or not gotten rid of whatever was trashy, and washed all the napkins, tablecloths, and garbage bags. There was so much garbage, it was crazy! But now everything is clean and tidy.

We had some people who weren't able to make it last minute, so we're going to do a double date with some friends who couldn't make it. We'll have a gingerbread competition and see who can make the best one. Our friend who brought the DJ equipment will come pick it up later, and everything seems to be in order for Christmas Eve.

As I was cleaning up, I realized that we went through quite a bit of alcohol because we had bought for both parties. Luckily, we had enough extras, so I just refilled the bottles. Alarmingly, almost half of this was gone! Most of it was put away in the Patron drawer because none of the items on top were even touched.

Since we had so much greenery, I divided it up into smaller pots and placed them throughout the house. I have one here, another over there, two vases that I got at home today, and an extra vase with some flowers that are literally everywhere! The house is looking a bit crazy but in a good way.

I also found out that I was wrong about some gifts being candlestick holders – they were actually just decorated vases. I'm not entirely sure how I didn't notice it before, but now I see the lip and flat parts. It's been an interesting day of cleaning up after Christmas, and now it's time to wind down with a hot cup of cocoa and watch a Christmas movie.

gotten up and gotten ready because i want to start prepping for our christmas party tomorrow and i want to start prepping a bit this morning so i've got my apron on and i'm going to be making the cornbread this morning and then at 11 our dogs have a bath and blowout appointment so that they will be ready for tomorrow and then at one we have um the cleaners coming to clean the inside of our house so we don't have to worry about that and tonight we're doing all the final setup so i'm really excited to bring you guys along for the prep and the actual party tomorrow because it's going to be so much fun so if you haven't already don't forget subscribe below give this video a big thumbs up and let's get into it so far i have all of the wet ingredients mixed and all of the dry ingredients these cornbread muffins are amazing so i use this type of cornmeal and then on the side these sweet corn muffins this is the recipe i use however i double whoops i double the butter so use this double the butter and they are absolutely amazing um you can make them the regular size of muffins but the way my mom always did it so the way i'm going to do it make them in these mini muffin trays so if you make them in the mini muffin trays i'm in the recipe it says it cooks for like 18 or 20 minutes in these trays it cooks for um they cook for only 12. so just make sure you butter each of these beforehand they still cook at 350 12 minutes and they're absolutely perfect i'm going to finish mixing these together mixy mix first batch or the first tray i should say cornbread muffins are all done there are like 48 of them they are perfectly cooked not to toot my own horn but these turned out perfectly okay we are ready for their holiday blowout reveal oh and i got him a few uh stocking stuffers in here hi city girl hi oh my gosh so cute all right well we have sadie has the boy one and she says the girl one but that's okay i'm going to then roll i'm gonna roll it boo i like this one this is easy why because yeah it looks easy okay so i'm taking over napkin duty alone darren has lost privileges oh jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way okay so we have set out all of the settings on the three tables so we have all of this going on um but it still looked kind of empty so we got some flower vases and then we ran to costco and we got four of these like christmas tree greenery things and then we got three of these like um flower bouquets and then we also got three of carnations and we're gonna kind of make little flower arrangements and then so we're gonna put these in the vases and then these we're gonna lay out in the middle just to like add a little something extra all right guys it is 11 p.m and i'm gonna go to sleep and hopefully wake up early and do some of the final touches but we are pretty much ready to go last minute pickups at the grocery store this morning is 8 a.m good morning okay so i am on my way to starbucks it's in the same complex i'm just driving there if it's on the other side and i don't feel like carrying them back because we're both darren and i are both getting ice drinks um but okay so my my throat was hurting from sleeping with the fan on and then we accidentally slept with a fan on the last two nights again i just i don't understand like neither of us turn it on i feel like well i feel like we obviously i mean obviously we do but like we don't realize we do i like i don't think we know how to control the fan um so yeah we've been sleeping with the fan on and now i'm losing my freaking voice i'm so upset um i don't think i'm getting sick like i don't feel sick whatsoever um but this voice situation is not it so when i woke up this morning i could barely talk so things are kind of getting a little bit better but i mean still not good so i'm gonna go get some starbucks and finish setting up today well no let's start with starbucks and go from there are you guys ready for the reveal oh my gosh this turned out so well so over here we have beer pong and our friend is going to set up his dj equipment there we have corn hole and these are the corn holes that i had made like two years ago our fooze ball is fully assembled and in place and then we have our ping pong table christmas tree we have our gingerbread table with all of the fixings and this is a voting system for the gingerbreads so every team is going to have a note card and every couple's a team so every couple is going to come up with their team name put it at the top and then every person has a red sticker and a blue sticker beneath it and the red sticker is two points the blue sticker is one point so everyone gets to have a first and second place and that's going to be what determines who won and then the people who win we have a 50 amazon gift card in here and a 25 chick-fil-a gift card because winner winner chicken dinner get it get it so that's what the prizes are and then here we have our food table and i added this for a little bit of height and pop of color and then here i put just in a frame please write the name of your dish on one of these cards and place it in front of it so these are little cute little stand up cards with little cute metallic reindeer on it but that way we know what every dish is and i put out a few sauces and then more utensils and napkins and these lights we have a second of those light machines right there in the in the corner kind of by the trash can and then we put out a standing um basket with some blankets in case people get cold it's kind of chilly down here and then look how beautiful the tablescapes turned out absolutely amazing i am so happy with it and then we brought down one of um our plants to put in that corner just to make everything um kind of feel covered and then we have the other trashcan right there so it's gonna look so good and then when the lights are down you're gonna be able to see it let me see if i can show you guys okay you can kind of see the lights now more it's a little brighter over here because of the windows but um it's going to be evening time and i think we're going to keep kind of like romantic lighting like this so you can definitely still see but it's a little more like moody so i'm so excited about this and then our drink area so here is our bar area so this is an ice maker um i just bought ice and we're just gonna put it in there and use it as a cooler because i don't know if the water filter has been changed recently so i don't know i don't want anyone to get sick from the ice basically so just as a precautionary measure we're going to be filling it with store-bought ice and then we have our cups a little ice scoop and then we have all of our cute little winter and christmas like bottle openers and bottle stoppers and things like that and we have a selection of wine some of our friends are bringing wine but we want to make sure there's like a variety and then they have these cute little tags so we have a whole variety of wine and then over here we have a hydration station making sure everyone has water and then we have our cute little bottle openers here for our drink fridge so we've converted this entire fridge into a drink fridge so over here we've got some white claws modelo anchor steam beer some more of the anchor beer and then we have mike's heart a few different types of seltzers different types of beer red bull for mixing more white claws sam adams blue moon sierra nevada up here all of our chasers so we have like iced tea pineapple juice 7up coke cranberry juice lemonade tonic water and orange juice and then in these drawers we have some corona and then some of just the other drinks that we had um a lot of but didn't fit up there and then at the bottom we have another row of blue moon and then over here we kind of have some mismatched things so we have some like mike's hearts some high noons a few other things uh-oh in the freezer right now it has the store-bought i says telling you guys about but then we also have all of our hard alcohol and we have a bit more up here so we do have some friends bringing additional hard alcohol but we wanted to make sure that we just had some enough to get by in case everyone forgot what they were bringing and then over here is the bathroom that everyone's going to be using so everything that everyone needs their toilets around the corner but everything that everyone needs is right here so this is what the party's gonna look like and it's about noon and i haven't showered so i'm gonna go shower get ready and start prepping the food december day good morning and happy sunday um my voice is still trash um up till i was up until like 4 30 with my friend kelsey the one who came and helped like set up she stayed and helped me like put away all of like the leftover food start like some loads of laundry with like the tablecloths and just like cleaning up so it wouldn't be such a mess today and i'm so thankful that we did that because so like it was such a mess when everybody left and yeah it's just way more manageable now however it feels like i'm realizing things that i didn't know that happened like i discovered this morning that someone knocked over and broke one of those like two-part vases that are on on the coffee table in front of the tv like those cute vases that have like the hole in the middle and they're two and they're two different sizes like it's part of a set and someone broke them i mean the entire party was downstairs so i just don't even understand how that happened anyway i'm pretty butthurt about that but i got it from this place called at home which is like 15 20 minutes from my house so i'm on my way there right now i just got those vases like a month or so ago now like three four weeks ago so i'm hoping that they still have them i checked their website and it's no longer on the website but i'm hoping they have some in store so that's where i'm on my way to this morning and i'm wearing this lovely red little puffer jacket that i got from macy's just felt christmassy so fill in the vibes i will show you guys at home and hopefully the store at home and hopefully they have the bases wish me luck here we are oh my gosh please have it okay okay so everything's like kind of like in color-coded sections and this is the white area oh my god they don't have them oh there's some similar ones in pink down there but they're out of the white so i asked for help and they have the small one but the small one so this is the vase i'm look talking about but this size is the one that's left it's the big one that broke and it's the big one they don't have any more of she's gonna check one other place but i think this might be a bust guys i am the happiest person in the world i was sitting at the world's longest red light waiting to get on the freeway and i pressed refresh and the vase came back in stock i kid you not it is back in stock so update of this area i've cleaned everything i've kind of like replaced some of the decor like in random places just because we need somewhere to put them and then we oh my gosh we went through so much eucalyptus with more of the greenery stuff because we really just have so much and then i also have been placing the flowers like throughout the house because we just we they're beautiful and we just don't really have anywhere to put them so over here we have another random vase with um greenery another thing of flowers literally they are like everywhere so the house is looking crazy not crazy but it looks like we went ham at a florist or something and then there's our single vase because his friend broke but like i said we have it on order so it's gonna be okay and then these are the other things that i got from at home that i'm keeping although i didn't realize it in the store but i'm actually kind of starting to think that they're candlestick holders they were like in like the vase and decor aisle and there was like an entire like candlestick holder aisle so i didn't think that they were but kind of looking at them like it has like this like lip and then it's like flat i'm not sure i'm really not sure all right guys well now that i'm done cleaning i'm pretty much gonna call it a night just hang out for the rest of the evening we're gonna make some hot cocoa watch a
