**First Alert Debuting Wi-Fi Environment Camera with Non-Contact Video Respiration Detection at CES 2016**

Tom Russo, Vice President of Marketing for First Alert, is excited to be here at CES 2016, where his company is debuting a new product that represents the next phase in their One Link by First Alert series. This year's show has been particularly interesting, with one product standing out: the Wi-Fi environment camera with non-contact video respiration detection.

**Basic Features of the Environment Camera**

Russo walks us through some of the basic features of this amazing product, starting with its ability to control environmental controls. "Within the environment camera, you have the capability of controlling your environmental controls," he explains. "It can communicate with thermostats and allow you to adjust the temperature to just where you want it in the room." This feature is particularly useful, Russo notes, especially in situations such as a home nursery, where ensuring that the temperature is comfortable for newborns is crucial.

**Customization and Applications**

One of the strongest applications for this product, according to Russo, is the home nursery. "You have newborns, and you want to make sure they're very comfortable," he says. "If the temperature is just right, so you can set this where you want it, and you'll get alerts as to whether the temperature has gone above or below where you want." This feature allows parents to customize their environment to create a safe and comfortable space for their child.

**Advanced Security Camera Features**

In addition to its environmental control features, the Wi-Fi environment camera is also a highly advanced security camera. "It's a 1080p camera with night vision and motion detection line drawing," Russo explains. "Everything that you would want in a baby monitor can be used as a full-on security IP camera." The camera also features two-way audio, allowing users to communicate with others remotely.

**Non-Contact Video Respiration Detection**

The most exciting feature of the Wi-Fi environment camera, according to Russo, is its non-contact video respiration detection. "As you can see here on the monitor," he says, referring to a live stream of his friend Jeff's respiration rate, "we have a live stream of Jeff's respiratory rate." This feature uses sensors to detect changes in a person's breathing rate and sends notifications to users if those changes are detected.

Russo notes that this technology has many applications beyond the nursery. "I think you're looking at elder care," he says. "You got a growing boomer population, parents staying home longer, they need solutions to help them when they're not ready yet for full-time in-home care." Products like the Wi-Fi environment camera put information in the hands of caregivers and allow them to make informed decisions about their loved ones' health.

**Future Developments**

Russo is excited about the potential of this product within the home kit ecosystem. "We believe we have something very exciting here," he says. "There will be a nap yet, so you'll be able to control certain functions from your Apple watch receive notifications obviously from your Apple watch and then the primary interface will occur through the iPhone or iPad type device." This iOS-specific application will allow users to seamlessly integrate their environment camera with other smart home devices.

**Launch Plans**

Finally, Russo mentions that his company is aiming to launch this product in time for the holiday season 2016. "We're looking at cube fork," he says, without elaborating further on what this means for the product's launch plans.

In summary, the Wi-Fi environment camera with non-contact video respiration detection represents a significant advancement in home monitoring technology. With its advanced security features and ability to detect changes in a person's breathing rate, this product has far-reaching applications beyond the nursery and elder care industries.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso i'm tom russo vice president of marketing with First Alert we're here at CES 2016 very exciting year for us we're debuting the next phase of one linked by First Alert products particularly interesting this year we're showing our Wi-Fi environment camera with non-contact video respiration detection that's a lot to take in but Victor let me walk you through some of our features on this uh this amazing product we're going to start with some of the basics within the environment camera you have the capability of controlling your environmental controls it can communicate with thermostat you can adjust make sure that the temperature is just where you want it in the room that you place I think that one of the strongest applications for this product is going to be the home nursery where you have newborns and you wanted to make sure that the that they're very comfortable obviously and if the temperature is just right so you can set this where you want it and you'll get alerts as to whether the temperature is gone above or below where you want so you set your own thresholds it's all about customization then moving on it's also a highly advanced security camera a 1080p with night vision as motion detection line drawing so everything that you would want when it's done being a baby monitor you can use it as a full-on security IP camera so and it also has two way audio but I think the most exciting part about this camera we're going to do a demonstration here with my friend Jeff is the non-contact video respiration detection so as you can see here on the monitor we have a live stream of Jeff's respiration respiratory rate so an adult would be between 16 and 20 this is coming through to your iOS device your iPhone your iPad it's going to jump up it can jump up or if Jeff holds his breath what you'll do right now you can see the respiration go down to zero so you'd be getting a push notification immediately that's something you know obviously you don't want to happen with whoever you're watching and then now we got Jeff breathing again thankfully we don't want him to fall off his chair but we have it very excited about this this technology and again many applications beyond the nursery even I think you're looking at elder care you got a growing boomer population parents staying home longer they need solutions solutions to help them when they're not ready yet for full time in home care its products like these that put information in the hands of the parent or the caregiver you use that information and you make those choices you decide how that information comes into you you could get an alarm off your phone in the middle of the night or it can connect with other devices like our alarms and and give you that that sort of interaction and and that exactly the if this than that that we've been looking for within the smart home but we're very excited about this IP camera and the potential for that within the home kit ecosystem with the respiration feature we believe we have something very exciting here there will be a nap yet so you'll be able to control certain functions from your Apple watch receive notifications obviously from your Apple watch and then the you know the primary interface will occur through the the iPhone the iPad type device but yeah and this will be an iOS specific application
