April Wrap Up

A Killer Month: A Review of April's Reads

April was a killer month for me when it comes to reading. I devoured four books that completely stole my attention, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on each one.

One book that stands out in particular is "Killer" by Paul Tremblay. I loved this fast-paced book from the very beginning. The author did an excellent job of developing the characters, which made it easy for me to become invested in their stories. I was completely hooked from start to finish, and I couldn't put the book down. I would rate "Killer" a four out of five stars - it's definitely one of my favorite books of the month.

Another book that caught my attention is the Pretty Little Liars series. While I didn't watch the show before reading the books, I did enjoy them immensely. However, my love for the series began after watching the show first. I completely understand why people would love the show, but unfortunately, it wasn't as great to me as the books. I think this is because I read the books before watching the show, which led to some differences in pacing and plot development. Nevertheless, I loved the books and found them to be engaging and suspenseful.

On the other hand, one book that didn't quite make an impression on me was "Tweetheart" by Elizabeth Redick. This book was a recent haul for me, and while it was short and easy to read, I just couldn't get into it. The story followed four Twitter followers, which I found to be quite boring. The author's style of writing was reminiscent of Twitter updates, but it felt too superficial and lacking in depth. Despite this, I can see why some people might enjoy the book - it's definitely a quick and easy read.

But what really stole my heart is "The Scorch Children" by James Dashner. I went into this series with some skepticism, as some readers have expressed mixed feelings about The Scorch Trials. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the series. The plot was fast-paced and engaging, with plenty of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved how the author expertly wove together different storylines and characters, creating a complex and suspenseful narrative.

Lastly, I read "The Siren" by Mandy Hoppert (I couldn't find any information about this book or author). This was another recent haul for me, and while I didn't have much experience with it before reading, I did enjoy it. The story followed a siren who had previously killed once, but was trying to resist the urge to do so again. When she meets a boy at her lake, feelings start to develop, which I found to be quite compelling. However, towards the middle of the book, the plot started to feel a bit predictable, and I couldn't help but guess what would happen next.

Overall, April was an amazing month for reading, with each book providing something unique and exciting in terms of storyline, characters, and writing style.
