The Average Consumer's Guide to Sound Leak Testing

As we begin this video, I want to let you guys know that this channel was made with the average consumer in mind. Alright, let's get started with another tech video. Hey guys, it's Your Average Toons and my girlfriend, and this time we're going to leave the ship and do a sound leak test on these Beats Studio headphones.

We're going to start off at 50% volume and see how well they perform in terms of sound leakage. I'm ready, wow, yeah, I can clearly hear that. This is a really active pair, with 2% frequency response, which means it's not doing very well in terms of sound isolation. Even though we're close to each other, the fact that we could still hear the lid is perfectly fine is very bad. I know guys are going to hate this.

As you can see, these headphones do not perform well at 50% volume. They're terrible. Like, even though we're really close to each other, the sound leakage is still noticeable. I'm going to turn up the volume to 75% and see if it makes any difference. Okay, so we're listening to Nicki Minaj on these headphones. You would think that at this volume, the sound should be muffled or masked by the music, but nope, we can still hear everything.

It's like they're playing a boombox on your head and blasting music for everyone around you, not just yourself. I don't recommend wearing these headphones at 100% volume, trust me. They're just too loud. As a side note, my girlfriend is going to be doing the sound leak test next, so stay tuned.

Now, it's time for my girlfriend's part of the video. She's going to try out the Beats Studio headphones and see how well they perform in terms of sound leakage. We're all ears to hear what she has to say. Okay, so I'm handing her back the headphones now, and she's gossiping away. The volume is set to 50%, and let me tell you, it's not doing a very good job.

I try to talk to her about something, but she can't even hear me. It's like she's in her own little world or something. She's saying some pretty interesting things, like someone being pregnant again. I have no idea what's going on, and I couldn't hear any of it because the sound leakage is just too bad.

The headphones do perform well in terms of sound isolation, though. My girlfriend can barely hear me talking to her, even when she's right next to me. It's like they're doing a great job of blocking out external noise and keeping our conversation private. However, this comes at the cost of being able to hear each other.

As you can see, these headphones are perfect for keeping your girlfriend out of your ear if you don't want her to know what you're saying. But if you do want to be heard, forget it. They just aren't designed for that purpose. And let's not forget the music quality. I mean, we were listening to Nicki Minaj on these headphones earlier, and it was pretty good, but when she starts gossiping, the sound quality goes down the drain.

It's like they're not even designed for conversation or social interactions. They're just meant for blasting music and making you look cool while doing so. And that's a problem if you want to have meaningful conversations with your girlfriend or anyone else around you.

now on to the girlfriend test and this time I'm gonna hand him back the headphones because I have to do my part could you know girlfriends are always doing something different so this time I'm gonna be gossiping to him and he doesn't really like tear gossip so let's see if these are gonna be useful for him and defend me against my gossip all right so I try the side of 50% wish me luck guys oh my gosh you will not believe who is pregnant I got ribs again so I don't know what's going on whatever so it's not so good that's about someone being pregnant did you hear me Thanks well I couldn't hear at 50% so sound isolation perfect my girlfriend test succeeded at 50% volume same 5% you probably black out most things so let's just try it out anyway let's see what she has to say or not yeah so she's actually about four months pregnant and I hear she's keeping it like I don't know why she's keeping it because she's just too young for all that but that's her business all right so I couldn't hear a thing all right naughty well muffin nothing but I had to return those so these are perfect again we for sound isolation and keeping your girlfriend out of your ear and I don't even want to do 100% after she's done it but anyway Yolo that's what happens Wow I don't even know if I heard music except this time I talked about a guy who used the studio is that 100% that's funny well guys there you have it these fail the sound weak test terribly right terribly at 50% you can clearly hear lyrics everything so anything upward from that is just you know like I said play music for everyone and it did really well on the sound isolation though this the noise canceling one of these are really great they really blocked out most of what she had to say for 50% and everything whatsoever at 75% up
