Good Morning and Hello: A Pivotal Moment in Technology History

As we begin this keynote address, it's clear that we are in the midst of one of the most pivotal moments in technology history. The two pictures on screen capture that moment perfectly – a sea of phones capturing the same location. We couldn't have gotten here without the help of many individuals in the audience and people around the world, including developers who have contributed to this journey. However, we must remember that there are over 7 billion people on this planet, so we still have a long way to go. We believe that the journey is just getting started.

The Redesigned Google Play Store: A Step in the Right Direction

Recently, we launched a redesigned version of the Google Play store. In the run-through, we didn't put a picture of a more handsome man behind me up on the screen – but I guess that's fine! We set out to build a music service that wouldn't just give you access to a world of music but also help guide you through it. What if we gave you access to millions of tracks from our store, blending your personal library with ours? That's what "All Access" is all about. We talked about 900 million Androids, 40 billion app installs, and new tools and developer services that help build awesome apps. This is a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the same software experience we ship on our Nexus devices – it's Google's take on Android.

A New Pixel for Each of You

We're going to give each and every one of you a brand new Pixel, although I've been asked to say that it's not ready until 2 pm, so please don't leave in the middle of the keynote today! I'm really excited to announce a new initiative that will make it easy and affordable for schools to put Android tablets in the hands of all their kids. We've already been doing this with Chromebooks – they're ideally suited for education because there's literally no setup, no administration. You open the device, and you're good to go! You have the power of web within you.

What We're Doing on Google Today

We're introducing 41 new features across three major areas of Google today. First, we have a new, newly designed Stream. Next, we have a new Hangouts application. And finally, we have a fundamentally new Photos experience. We have a point of view about software and technology – that it should get out of the way and allow people to do what they do best: live, learn, and love. Even Google's own services have been fragmented and confused at times. So, we're introducing today a new application Hangouts Group Video at no charge. Isn't that fantastic? We just took it off the press this morning, and I've actually never tried Hot Warding in a room with so much ambient noise.
