**The History of RUF Automobiles**
RUF Automobile is a German company that has been producing high-performance sports cars since 1987. The company was founded by Alois Ruf Sr., and his son Alois "Aro" Ruf Jr. has taken over as the head of the company.
In this article, we will take you through the history of RUF Automobiles, from their early days to the present time. We will explore their unique models, innovative technologies, and partnerships with other companies.
**Early Days (1987-1990)**
RUF's first car was the CTR 1, which was a tribute to the Porsche 935. The CTR 1 was powered by a 3.4-liter flat-six engine that produced 330 horsepower. This car marked the beginning of RUF's reputation for building high-performance sports cars.
**The CTR 2 and CTR 3 (1990-2007)**
In 1990, RUF introduced the CTR 2, which was powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six engine that produced 375 horsepower. The CTR 2 was followed by the CTR 3 in 2007, which featured a 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that made 691 horsepower.
**The CTR Club Sport (2012)**
In 2012, RUF introduced the CTR Club Sport, which added an additional 86 horsepower to the already impressive power output of the CTR 3, bringing it to a total of 777 horsepower. This car was capable of reaching speeds of up to 236 miles per hour.
**The Turbo Florio (2015)**
In 2015, RUF unveiled the Turbo Florio, which was powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that produced 636 horsepower. The Turbo Florio featured an elongated front splitter, air intake tunnels on each rear fender, and a duck tail spoiler on the rear for optimized downforce.
**The Targa (2017)**

**Partnership with Velu Performance (2017)**
In 2017, RUF partnered with Velu Performance, an engineering company based in Germany, to develop their new carbon fiber chassis. This partnership marked the beginning of RUF's new era, where they could build cars without using a donor platform from Porsche.
**The Future of RUF Automobiles**
Today, RUF Automobiles is at the forefront of innovation in the sports car industry. With their new carbon fiber chassis and ability to create custom engines and transmissions, including all-wheel drive, RUF is poised to take on any challenge that comes its way.
As Alois Ruf Jr. once said, "We have set all the examples over the years of what could be done to the Porsche 911, and it has been well accepted." With their commitment to innovation and performance, RUF Automobiles is sure to continue making waves in the sports car world for years to come.
