Tied My AWD Civic to a Truck and Did a Burnout

The Evolution of Our EK Civic Hatch: A Story of Battle Scars and Plans for Renewal

As we stand here today, our trusty EK Civic hatch looks a bit rough around the edges. We've accumulated a lot of battle scars over the years, each one telling a story of its own. From the trailer incident that left a nasty dent in the quarter panel to the dents on the driver's door, every scratch and scuff has been earned. And yet, despite all the wear and tear, we still love her dearly.

The front bumper takes center stage as a victim of high school street racing. Someone hit it hard enough that the lip fell off, leaving us with a gaping hole in our otherwise sturdy bodywork. But even before that fateful day, our hatch had already seen its fair share of action. We've got a dent here, and another over there – it's like she's wearing her battle scars on her sleeve.

But we're not ones to shy away from a challenge. Over the years, we've accumulated all sorts of parts and modifications that have added weight to our little hatchback. And with the recent addition of all-wheel drive components, we knew it was time for some serious upgrades. That's why we're planning to swap out our carbon fiber doors and rear hatch for something new and sleek.

We're talking about carbon fiber, folks – the holy grail of lightweight materials that will help us offset the added weight from our various modifications. It's a bold plan, but one that we're confident will pay off in the end. And with a little bit of TLC, we're hoping to restore our hatchback to its former glory. After all, she's still got it where it counts – under the hood and on the track.

Our ultimate goal is to rewrap the car in a shiny new coat of paint and get her looking like new again. But for now, she'll have to settle for being rough around the edges. We've grown accustomed to her battle-hardened look over the years, and we're not about to change that anytime soon.

But just as we were getting comfortable with our plans, disaster struck. A car careening out of control came crashing into our pole, leaving a crater-sized hole in its wake. The power went out, and all our work was undone. It was a close call – the pole was snapped clean off the ground, and it seemed like everything was at risk.

Luckily, the city sprang into action, dispatching boom trucks to repair the damage. We watched as they worked tirelessly to replace the pole, taking up our entrance and creating a temporary construction zone. It was a frustrating wait, but eventually, the power was restored, and we were back in business.

As we look at our hatchback today, it's hard not to feel a sense of nostalgia for all that she's been through. She may be rough around the edges, but she's ours – and we wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. We'll keep working on her, tweaking her engine, and fine-tuning her suspension until she's purring like new once more.

And so, as we embark on this next chapter of our EK Civic hatch's life, we can't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. What's next? Will we make it to the track in one piece? Only time will tell. But for now, we're just happy to have our car back up and running – and looking better than ever.

for you guys i know you've been loving the jet boat content if you look in the back of our boat here we have the jet pump unit all pulled out of this thing we scooted the engine back forward because we're doing some final welding to our jet block down there we're just doing some final stitch welding around the sides and that will be all good to go and then we can reassemble everything and then the last step will be to seal the outside of the jet pump to the back of the boat there right where that hole is and then we can go ahead and get the engine fully bolted down and keep going from there we also got the third window kind of resting in there so you can see what the boat is going to look like with all three windows it's going to look freaking sweet and we got some exciting stuff going on over here that whit has been working on the wiring harness is completely done now and we can power this thing up it's connected to the fuel tech and we got something going on real cool with the jet boat here a lot of people when they build these jet boats they run sea doo components and the newer sea doo jet skis they all have a drive by wire set up so like on cletus's boat he has the throttle on the steering wheel just on a little trigger since there's no cable that makes it really simple and the k series that we got a lot of the newer k-series like 08 and up have a drive-by wire from factory on the throttle body so we decided to look into making that work and we ordered a sea-doo throttle sensor so we don't have the whole assembly just yet but we have to actually buy the billet piece with the handle still we just wanted to buy the sensor to make sure that this would all work and we got the throttle body off of the k series here and after some playing around we got it to work check that out all right off the trigger drive by wire on the jet boat baby yeah dude pretty cool that was good making it really easy i wish we filmed our initial reaction when we finally got it because we're like oh shoot there it is like i don't dude it took me forever so the connector pin out was wrong um the pin out was right but the connector was labeled wrong you're just looking at it mirrored yeah so i was like what the heck messed with it a whole day couldn't get it to work and then finally just flipped all the wires around and fired there she goes yeah it was a couple day ordeal but basically we just had the wires backwards and then flipped them all and then that was our only issue and got everything to work and you can see we have our tps in real time on the fuel tank there that's pretty legit so that is gonna be awesome it's like super responsive too that is so cool our first vehicle to be getting a drive-by wire setup and it's a jet boat i think we need to do more of these man yeah you can do a lot with drive-by wire especially in the fuel tech you can you know set up traction control it's very good at controlling traction because your foot can only respond so fast the computer it can cut that blade very quick yeah that and also idle like we don't run idle control motors on anything so it's like static idle with this it's just all done in the ecu yeah you tell it what you want to idle and it holds it right there cracks the throttle blade just a tiny bit for you and it's ready to go so really cool setup yeah i'm pumped on that so we've been plugging away on the jet boat and we're getting really close we're still waiting on some steering components to show up and there's still a lot that needs to be done before it can see the water but we're getting there step by step day by day boys and she's coming along but that is badass yeah glad we got that working gonna have the throttle right on the steering wheel gonna be a lot easier than having a pedal yeah it's gonna just be comfortable like foot slips off the pedal and a turn you know yeah you have to have throttle in a turn to steer the thing so it's going to work out really good and then like you said put that right on our steering wheel and it'll be sweet setup oh yeah pretty legit well that's your jet boat update for now boys all right guys so we have a pretty dumb idea that we just came up with we've been trying to move some of the we've been trying to move some of the cars around mainly the cummins here it's been taking up a lot of space we're just gonna at least kind of put it over there out of the way and she's a really heavy girl i mean why we're trying to push it and it wasn't happening at first we thought we were gonna hook up the lawnmower maybe try to pull it out with the mower and then we thought about why it's crv no lie they would have both done it they would have both done it but then the hatch came into the equation sorry about the wind by the way but we're gonna try to hook up the hatch to the back of the truck here we're gonna lay a little water down just for some help and uh see what happens if we give the hatch a nice little four by four launch and try to pull the truck out of its spot here see what happens should be good and cooper just made it down so he's here to yeah i was in the area all of the tomfoolery going on today i've pushed the dodge before in my life so if it does need to be pushed i can at least help with that but i'm definitely interested in seeing seeing a four-wheel drive launch to pull it down yeah this one plays out that sounds spicy yeah i'm a little worried about it honestly hopefully we don't snap an axle or blow this thing up but you know we're also curious boys i want to see the civic do a four wheel drive launch and uh pull the truck out of its spot here got her all hooked up here we actually just went to the chassis on the civic gonna go ahead and let her warm up for a little bit yeah i don't know about this one i do it's gonna be great so let me put some water down real quick sorry if it's shooting a little bit putting the water down but we're gonna try to not break everything in the drivetrain today we'll see what happens so second all right here goes nothing boys i'll put it in second gear and see what happens oh not bad okay good thing we don't care about the bumpers they got this i think let's put it out there i did say we should put the brake on all right let's put the e-brake on it pulled it relatively easily it's all good he was gonna get out of it but too much in the moment yeah yeah shut up i couldn't do anything like yeah that was right we should have set the e-brake a little bit we should have been there to stop it or a wheel chalk or i thought about it you know he started to move i said oh he's got it by the time it stalled it was too late yeah we should go through all the things we should have done yeah that's always helpful after these things yeah in case anybody's trying this at home hold it easily all right now it's locked now let's try this again well that's not go just planned at all we're going to try first gear this time put a little dent in the hatch but it's all good he has plenty of battle scars foreign um me i like your burnout marks that's a unique burnout mark right there okay that was scary that was pretty tight i mean for the embarrassment earlier i could have stayed in it too but i didn't want to go too hard yeah i mean the smoke and the wind carried the smoke right away from you which is perfect not into me right away that way the way i like it i think you're good oh stop stop stop that would have been live action yeah another one take him out again almost that was pretty sick no lie that would have been live action that second one there once again sorry neighbors all the smoke went right over their house yep dude you know what would be sick is to get a hole and just let it do like a few little holes i feel like you're going pretty fast like that yeah that's like a i think ken block did that on ice at work we're basically everybody's gonna take her out basically ken block but just the honda version honda block honda block all right let's push this turret out of the way yeah where are we pushing it to over there yeah into its new one right here you should back it up to make it like a jumping board for like a diving board for the pool like a little like the bed of the truck can kind of be like get up and yeah we could just put it in the pool oh yeah yeah once we get the van going we'll do the same in the van that would be bad you should try to rip a car in half with both of them well task failed successfully on that one boys we did manage to get the cummins moved over here to its new spot we just wanted it out of the way so we have some more space to park some cars over here since it's been taking up a lot of room we'll have to get to that thing later but we had the bright idea to chain up the hatch to the back of it and that actually went really well we got two solid burnout marks here those are from the rear tires they were actually smoking pretty good that was a lot better than i thought it was going to be and i really want to do it again if you guys enjoyed that i got this awesome idea to drive the hatch down to the freedom factory and see if the thing will flat spin so if you like that idea like the video and also comment that you want to see that happen and i'll make it happen but if you guys saw on the first attempt it didn't go so well i had the bright idea to leave the truck in neutral because i thought the hatch was going to be able to do a sick like rolling all-wheel drive burnout as it pulls out the truck because it's so heavy but the truck rolled a little bit easier than i thought it was going to and the hatch stalled so once the truck got a little movement going it just rolled right into the back of the hatch and we did have a small impact back here on the hatch's hatch and that's not good boys because we call this thing the hatch because it has a hatch because it is a hatchback and that's where it gets its nickname the hatch and we just backed into the hatch's hatch and now we have a dent in the hatch which makes me sad because i love the hatch but it's not too big of a deal it's really not even that noticeable i tried to pound it out a little bit but the hatch is a little rough around the edges anyways i don't know if you guys have ever seen these doors but they're pretty dented up she has seen better days and i know you guys have said you wanted me to get this thing cleaned up and make it look nice and eventually that is the plan but the hatch has always been a little rough around the edges she's just you know been kind of rough and tough and she always was just and getting and i really never cared how well it looked but over the years she has definitely accumulated a lot of battle scars we have the hit right here from the trailer when we went to half mile race it um this fender had a pretty gnarly this quarter panel whatever you want to call it this had a pretty gnarly dent in it um there's dents in the driver door like crazy you know she's been a little beat up the front bumper this actually happened in high school someone hit the bumper on the car the front lip fell off when i was street racing one day it's uh like i said rough around the edges but now that we put a little dent in the hatch that is my excuse to track down a new hatch and i'm going to be looking for a carbon fiber or a fiberglass hatch so if any of you guys or one of your friends has a fiberglass or carbon fiber hatch for a ek civic hit your boy up i am looking for one we added all the all-wheel drive components to this car which obviously added a bit of weight so i'm gonna try to help offset some of that weight by going to carbon fiber doors and the rear hatch as you guys saw on the mr2 we saved a whole bunch of weight that way so she is a little heavier now with all of that all-wheel drive stuff in there and i think going with the carbon fiber doors and the rear hatch will uh be uh good for us overall and as you guys saw since they're all so dented up we'll have some nice new clean doors that are carbon fiber and light along with that rear back hatch and that is my plan and then we'll hopefully re-wrap the car one day and make it look nice and pretty but that hasn't happened yet so for now she's going to stay how it is and uh we'll keep beating on her well we're just working away in the shop and all of a sudden we hear a loud bang outside all the power shuts off and look at this guys someone just ran into our pole over here and killed all of our power good better zoom in on them dude just smashed into our pole this is an exciting episode guys we got all kinds of stuff going on today off of there can we get our power back on we were trying to weld a jet boat together hopefully that pole doesn't fall over look at the bottom of the pole out of the ground and separated smashed her luckily that pole was there because that's like that would have been into our tree over there i told you i heard a loud bang yeah you did i was playing with the dog i didn't hear it but like the dog freaked out then you came in it's like holy the front of that car is screwed he was definitely moving pretty good and it seems like the guy was a little impaired under the influence of something he was like not there at all in the head but uh we heard zero tire screech there's no tire marks leading up to the pole so i think he was just not paying attention or something dude just literally veered off the road right into the pole like full speed whatever he was cruising at no signs of stopping so yeah in a way the pull kind of saved us there but it sucks because our power line was attached to that pole and everything in the shop just shut down so there's that i am he hit that thing he hit that thing hard dude look at that that pole is probably six to two ten foot in the ground split that thing look at the big crater just shoved everything over that pole is snapped i didn't realize how bad it was leaning he had one too many of those dog hold that back up he just had a 40 chilling in there it's about 11 o'clock at night right now and they got the city out here fixing the pole that that guy ran into got a couple boom trucks they're locking our entrance right here but i'm happy they're out here getting our power kicks so we should be good to go in the shop for tomorrow i think they got what is that three boom trucks out here getting that whole pole replaced they're taking up our road in front of the house got a little construction zone going on just because of that guy hitting the pole looks like they're working on getting this one down right now what an interesting day boys well it's the following morning and they got the pole fixed everything is replaced good to go the power is back on in the shop so we're all set to go boys and on that note that is going to do it for today's video i hope you guys enjoyed so you\n"
