iOS 15.4: A Game-Changer for Face ID Devices
One of the most significant updates to come out recently is iOS 15.4, which has been making waves in the tech world. This update brings a host of exciting new features, including the ability to use Face ID with masks and glasses. But have you ever wondered which devices will support this feature? In this article, we'll dive into the details of iOS 15.4 and explore the device support for these innovative features.
Supporting Devices: iPhone 13 Series and Later
If you're due for an upgrade or already have one of the latest iPhone models, you're in luck! The iPhone 13 series, including the Pro and Pro Max variants, will support the new Face ID with masks and glasses feature. This means that users can unlock their devices, download apps, make payments, and authenticate themselves without needing to remove their masks or glasses. It's a game-changer for those who use Face ID as part of their daily routine.
Older iPhone Models: No Support
Unfortunately, older iPhone models will not be supported by the new Face ID feature. If you're using an iPhone 10, iPhone 10S, or iPhone 11, you won't be able to take advantage of this innovative technology. This may be disappointing for some users who are still attached to their older devices. However, it's worth noting that these older models are no longer supported by Apple, so they may not receive future software updates or security patches.
Reasons Behind the Limited Support
So, why did Apple decide not to support all iPhone models with the new Face ID feature? In my opinion, it's because of a hardware limitation introduced with the iPhone 12 series. The new dot projector technology used in these devices allows for more precise facial recognition and unlock functionality. However, this technology may not be compatible with older iPhone models that don't have the same level of processing power or camera resolution.
Is Apple Trying to Encourage Upgrades?
Some users may speculate that Apple is trying to encourage people to upgrade their devices by introducing new features that only work on newer models. While it's possible that Apple may be trying to drive sales, I believe that the reason for limited support lies in the hardware limitations of older devices. The dot projector technology used in iPhone 12 and later models provides a significant improvement over older models, making them better suited for Face ID with masks and glasses.
Conclusion
In conclusion, iOS 15.4 brings exciting new features to the table, including the ability to use Face ID with masks and glasses. However, not all devices will support this feature. If you're due for an upgrade or already have one of the latest iPhone models, you'll be able to take advantage of these innovative technologies. Older iPhone models, on the other hand, may not receive future software updates or security patches.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso today i wanted to answer a very popular question that i continue to get in regards to ios 15.4 which is honestly one of the biggest updates coming to the iphone especially face id iphones since the initial release of face id honestly so in this video we'll talk about support devices for ios 15.4 new use face id with a mask feature as well as glass features so now you can set up face id to be used with a mask to make payments to download applications to autofill obviously unlock your iphone and this will work on your devices almost seamlessly when you use it on iphone 13 pro which i've been using for nearly a week now also the glasses feature i do have a pair of sunglasses that don't work with face id you can now use this feature to set up a face id to scan your face while you wear the pair of glasses that may not work or glasses that may not work with face id now of course all this is great but a lot of users have been asking if i update to the beta will i get this software update and will i get this feature so we'll talk about device support as i mentioned and devices that are not supported i'll talk about my reasons as into why i believe apple does not support this on all devices that have face id now as always if you would like to stay up to date with the latest ios news and apple software updates don't forget to subscribe and make sure you turn on those notifications so that you don't miss another episode now as i mentioned ios 15.4 will be one of the biggest updates for face id devices in a very very long time because we'll now have the ability to unlock our iphones using a mask we don't have to put our masks down to unlock to download apps to make payments and all that stuff now one thing that seems to be the number one question for both of these new features the glasses and the mask unlock is which devices are supported is it every single face id device and unfortunately the answer to that is no now if you have an iphone 13 iphone 13 pro iphone 13 pro max iphone 13 mini obviously you're good you got the latest face id so this will work for you after updating to 15.4 but what if you have an older iphone iphone 12 model well iphone 12 models are also supported as you can see the feature lies in here under face id and passcodes you can unlock with a mask on you can also download apps make payments authenticate autofill all that good stuff works as intended with iphone 12 models as well so from the iphone 12 mini all the way to the pro max everything works as intended now here's where things do take a shift when we head over to iphone 11 so let's go ahead and unlock here iphone 11 let's go into settings here let's go into face id and passcode as you can see there's one option missing from ios 15.4 and unfortunately that is the mask unlock and the glass support now in my opinion the reason why apple does not support any iphone with face id from iphone 10 the iphone 10 s the iphone 10r and the iphone 11 models all of these and all the variants for the plus and max models do not support this my opinion is because apple has added with iphone 12 a new dot projector which can actually detect more angles and actually unlock your iphone from different angles you might remember apple mentioning that when they launched the iphone 12 series and that to me may be the reason why apple is doing this now a lot of iphone 11 owners are probably really upset that this feature will not be coming to their devices as well as iphone 10 iphone 10r iphone 10s all the models and variants in between for the plus and pro models of these devices unfortunately will not be supported now many users do say apple sometimes will do this to get users to upgrade their devices that's up in the air i mean that's something only apple can answer but in my opinion apple didn't make a change to face id and that's the only change i can think of that could directly impact this new feature built in to ios 15.4 so again iphone 13 models and iphone 12 models all the variants from the mini all the way to the pro max will support this any other iphone with face id unfortunately will not be supporting the mask unlock or the glass support for the new features in ios 15.4 let me know what you think in the comments down below did apple make the right move here and do you believe apple is doing this number one to get more customers to upgrade or is it really a hardware limitation from iphone 12 on up let me know your thoughts in those comments down below thank you for watching and i'll see you
