Gaming on the New Micromax Canvas Doodle 2: A Mixed Bag
Hey everyone, it's Bernard from Fragrant In and welcome back to our channel! Today, we're going to take a look at gaming on the new Micromax Canvas Doodle 2, also known as the A240. This is a revision of the previous generation of Micromax Canvas Doodle, but not much has changed in terms of specifications. So, let's dive into the details and see how it performs.
First things first, let's take a look at the specs. The device comes equipped with a 5.7-inch display that boasts a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It also features the same Mediatek 6589 chipset as its predecessor, with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. Additionally, it has PowerVR SDX 544 MP GPU, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of fixed storage. The price of this device is quite surprising, standing at $19,990, which may be due to its premium build quality, including Gorilla Glass and a metal unibody.
Now that we've got the specs out of the way, let's move on to gaming. We started off with Real Racing 3, and while the game appears to be running smoothly, there is a noticeable amount of lag during gameplay. You can see a little bit of jitteriness on the frame rate, as well as a less-than-stellar touch response during in-game play. The screen is responsive otherwise, but during gameplay, the touch response just isn't up to par.
Watch a bit of gameplay for yourself and decide what you think. Next up, we tried to check out Asphalt 7, which was available on our device at the time of testing. Unfortunately, Asphalt 8 is not available on this device, so we had to settle for Asphalt 7 instead. While playing Asphalt 7, we noticed a similar amount of jitteriness and lag as we did with Real Racing 3. However, if you've played Asphalt 7 on other devices before, you might not notice much of a difference.
Asphalt 7 still features all sorts of glare, full graphics, skid marks, and animations during gameplay, which is just a little bit frustrating to deal with. The game does run smoothly, but it's clear that the device isn't quite capable of handling its full graphical potential. Moving on, we checked out Nova 3, one of the highest graphic-intensive games available on the Google Play Store.
Nova 3 took an extremely long time to load up in most cases. We're talking about a wait time of around 15 minutes or more, which is just ridiculous. We expected this game to run slowly and not perform well at all, but what we got was a smooth gaming experience despite running it at full graphics. The gameplay was pretty decent, with zero lag and no issues whatsoever. However, the only thing that really bothers us is the load times.
We can see smoke from the gun, panning, and moving around while in-game, as well as particulate effects everywhere, which all contribute to a truly immersive gaming experience. It's clear that this device has more than enough power to run even the most demanding games smoothly. We're not sure what the point of these load times is, but it's definitely something we'll be keeping an eye on in future updates.
In conclusion, our experience with the Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 was mixed bag. While the device has some impressive specs and can handle graphically-intensive games like Nova 3 smoothly, its performance suffers when running less demanding titles like Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 7. Load times are also a major concern, particularly for gamers who value quick access to their favorite games.
We're still not sure if this is worth the $19,990 price tag, but it's definitely an interesting device that warrants further investigation.
