Stuck in Arizona: A Review of My Upcoming Reading List
As I sit here stuck in Arizona, I couldn't help but think that this vacation would be something different from what it has turned out to be. Instead, I've found myself immersed in a world of books and reading. One book in particular caught my attention, "Stuck in Arizona" by [Author's Name], which is another adult romance novel featuring a lesbian protagonist. The blurb promises a clash of worlds, which piqued my interest and excitement. As someone who loves to read about different cultures and relationships, I'm eager to dive into this book and explore the world it presents.
Another book that I picked up on a whim after stopping filming is "Written in the Stars" by Alexandria Belfler. This book is also an adult romance novel with a lesbian protagonist, which I'm thrilled to see as there are so many books being released featuring female-female relationships. When I was working at Chapters, it was always challenging to find books that featured LGBTQ+ characters, and now it's wonderful to see a surge in releases. The blurb of this book promises a story about astrology, set in Seattle, with a fake dating plot twist. Given the praise from two of my favorite authors, Talia Hibbert and Christina Lauren, I'm excited to dive into this one as soon as possible.
Moving on to "Illusionarium" by Heather Dixon, another book that caught my eye is this steampunk-inspired Victorian fantasy novel featuring illusionists. Although I don't have much information about the plot, I do know that the author, Heather Dixon, wrote a retelling of "12 Dancing Princesses" titled "Entwined", which I enjoyed reading. The idea of a magical world and intricate plotting has me intrigued, and I'm looking forward to discovering more about this book.
Lastly, there's "I Think I Love You" by Orion de Somre, another lesbian romance novel that I picked up on a whim while browsing online. With its promise of a fun and cute story, I'm excited to dive into this one as well. The fact that it might be a quick and easy read suits my current reading mood perfectly.
In the coming weeks, I'll be tackling these books, which have been added to my reading list. Although there are other releases that caught my eye, including "Next Stop by Casey McQuiston", I'm looking forward to making progress on these ones first.
As we move into our new home, settling in can take some time. In the meantime, I hope to squeeze in some reading and relaxation. Given the relaxed pace of this vacation, I'll likely be listening to audiobooks as much as I read physical copies. This way, I can still enjoy my books while taking things easy.
That's it for today's video. If you have any thoughts or experiences with these books, please do let me know!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: eneveryone it's hailey and today i'm going to be talking about the books that i would like to read this june so i'm actually pre-filming this at the end of april because as you guys know by now i will be moving so when this video is going up it will be like 10 days-ish i'm not exactly sure when i'm putting it up but we're going to be moving around june 10th so i'm not exactly sure how much i'll be able to read in june but i do know that this pile is a lot of what i'm going to be gravitating towards so it kind of depends on what i end up reading in may but i still think a lot of these have a really good chance of me reading them as long as i am able to squeeze in some reading time which is why i'm pre-filming now but i have a lot of contemporary on here because i feel like that is going to be great for me but i also have a couple of fantasies because as much as i don't really like reading fantasies when i'm busy i want to try and keep up with how i've been doing with fantasy so i'm not going to force myself but i do have a few here that i think i might be able to get through they're more like faster reads i also have a lot of lgbtq plus reads on here because it is pride month so i definitely want to get some of these in so before we get into the video i just wanted to take a second to thank the sponsor for today's video basmo basmo is a really cool reading app that will entirely change the way that you read i will have a link for it down below where you can download it at the google play store or the app store and also just the website so you can learn more about it but it has pretty much everything that i want from a reading tracker and for someone who loves to track their reading like me it is very addictive so you can set daily and yearly reading goals you can also track your reading time so that's one of my favorite things is that you can start your session when you're reading and write down little notes as you're reading as well so you can have your thoughts there and kind of annotations in one place which is so easy to keep organized you can scan quotes from your favorite books as well so you can keep track of those things and have a way of like especially if you're reading an ebook then you can still have the annotating experience i love the fact that it encourages me to read more mindfully because when you finish your reading session it gives you the opportunity to track your thoughts and your emotions like how you felt after reading that specific portion of the book so it's really cool to see how you are thinking while you're reading and how you're feeling throughout the book you can also of course organize your bookshelves in there keep track of what you want to read what you have read so it just offers a little bit of everything and i absolutely love that it is everything that i want for my nerdy reader heart i get to keep a goal and keep track of that and like see the meaningful steps that i'm taking toward achieving my goal so someone who is goal oriented like me loves that but also even if you're not interested in setting a goal for yourself you get to read so like thoughtfully which i think is super important and i think like for me i never remember what i've read so having the opportunity to have my thoughts down and have my feelings and just like little notes while i'm reading and have it all in one place is so helpful so definitely check out the basmo app i think you guys will for sure love it i will have the links down below where you guys can check it out and thank you so much to basma for sponsoring today's video without further ado let's just get into it so speaking of pride month this book is exactly what i wanted for pride month because it is actually set during pride month so i've been saving it for now but that is when you get the chance by tom ryan and robin stevenson so this is actually a road trip novel but it is set during pride month as the characters in canada by the way which is so exciting but the characters are going from i believe they're going from like i don't know if it's from british columbia or what it doesn't say but they are taking a road trip to toronto pride and they are cousins and they are like very opposite they find out but they are united on this road trip to go to pride and i think that just sounds absolutely amazing like so much fun so i'm really eager to get to this one this month and i feel like it will be a good one for well i am road tripping my entire life across the country i mean not across the country but like it is 10 hours so i feel like this will be a good book to read that next up is in deeper waters by ft luke and so i've had this arc for quite a while and i have wanted to get to it but i just haven't picked it up yet but now i feel like is the perfect time this is described as the gentleman's guide to vice and virtue meets pirates of the caribbean so it is a gay pirate book and i don't know what else you want really but it is set on a coming-of-age tour it follows these characters pirates all that stuff i think this is going to be like an adventure really fun and i'm super excited for it so it is actually out now it came out in april so you guys will be able to pick up a copy as well but i mean just look at that cover of like everything about it is beautiful and honestly all i needed to hear was gentlemen's guide meets pirates of the caribbean and i was like yes i need it right now next up is honey girl by morgan rogers so i've had this book for a little bit now and i've been thinking about picking it up but once again i just haven't gotten the chance to get to it yet this is an adult romance and it is also a lesbian romance but i've also heard it's a lot more like intense and emotional so it's not your typical romance novel and i think that would be good like i am looking forward to that and i'm glad that i know that going in but i'm thinking kind of along the lines of beach read where there's a lot more emotion happening to it but this follows a girl who meets i think the description is like meets the love of her life just when everything is falling apart so she ends up marrying someone in vegas this girl that she doesn't even know her last name or anything and it's a very out of character move for her she just graduated i think she graduated yeah with a phd in astronomy and then she ends up drunkenly marrying a woman and that is the whole thing so it's a romance i'm assuming between the two of them and i think that just sounds like such the setup for a great story also this i have heard like nothing but amazing things about it everyone seems to love it so i'm hoping i will too next up is somewhere between bitter and sweet by lakin is a kemp and this is a white contemporary that is about baking you guys know by now that i have so many books that have to do with cooking on my tbr for some reason and i have started to read them i just don't want to read them like all at once like i know it would be kind of fun to do a reading vlog where i read all of them but i find that if i read books that are way too similar too close together one it sometimes can affect my enjoyment and two i will get them mixed up in my mind all the time like that happened with uh these these witches don't burn i believe and then the other one was the babysitter's coven i don't know if those are actually the titles but those two i get mixed up literally all the time so i'm trying to avoid that but this is a story that follows a girl who has aspirations to be a pastry chef but her family doesn't really support that they want more for her and she is currently working at her father's restaurant which is called nacho taco so this features latin x representation i believe that the characters are mexican and there's a guy who ends up being hired as a waiter and she starts a relationship with him but then there starts to be like all of these issues with immigration and her father and her family is also being pulled into question so i think this is going to be a really like hard read in a lot of ways but i've heard some great things about it it kind of makes me think of a cuban girl's guide no the cuban girls guide a cuban girl's guide to tea and tomorrow i could not think of a title for the life of me but that one was a little bit more of an emotional read that had a character that was really passionate about cooking and kind of baking in particular so i think that this is something that i will probably really enjoy and i'm excited for it next up is a full disclosure by cameron garrett so this is a story that features a main character who is hiv positive and someone actually ends up revealing her status without her permission or revealing that they know her status rather and she went to this one school but now she's at a new school and everyone at her old school knew so she's excited to have this fresh start where no one knows but then someone reveals that they do know and they are blackmailing her threatening to reveal it to everyone else this is definitely going to be a really difficult read i read a book about the aids crisis last year like a love story by abdi nazemian which was really good i enjoyed that one a lot and i'm looking forward to reading more about like how this character is going to deal with such a difficult thing and like the backlash from that and the stigma surrounding it so i think this is going to be a really powerful and impactful read next up is the gilded ones by namina fourna this is another book that storycraft said that it was a fast-paced fantasy and it's one that i've wanted to read for a long time now so i'm glad that they said that this cover honestly totally drew me in it is absolutely gorgeous and like so striking the colors and everything i love it but this features a world where your blood will decide like where you are so the main character goes to this blood ceremony and she's hoping that her blood will run red and she will be able to be in society as she has been but unfortunately that ceremony obviously ends up going wrong and her blood runs gold so she is supposed to be outcast and face a fate worse than death but then someone ends up approaching her with this opportunity to join an army of other girls like her who they fight for the emperor i'm not sure if it's the emperor king but they fight for like the head man of the monarchy i feel like that seems really interesting where like everyone thinks that these people are outcasts but they're actually employed on this army so i'm eager to learn more about that more about the world because it seems really intriguing next up is the lady rogue by jen bennett i finally read chasing lucky in april so i feel like i need to catch up on the last jen bennett book that i have right now her other book has actually been pushed back because like the imprint closed where she was published at so now i do have quite a bit of time to catch up but i feel like her books do read like fairly quickly for me so i think this would be a good one to go with it is a historical fantasy and it's set in romania in i was just trying to see if it had the date it does not but i believe it's around victorian times and you follow a character who her father is a treasure hunter and he ends up going missing so then she ends up going to try and find him and it turns out that he was actually looking for the ring of vlad the impaler aka dracula that has been lost and he was trying to find that so a lot of mystery here a very interesting setting and kind of makes me think of like hunting prince dracula those sort of vibes so i feel like this would be a good one for around halloween too but i kind of just don't want to wait next up is the falling and love montage by sierra smith so this is also a lesbian romance and it features some really like opposite characters and i tend to really enjoy opposites attract so definitely excited for that but the main character like doesn't believe in love at first sight doesn't believe in any of that but then she ends up meeting this girl who kind of changes everything for her so i'm anticipating that this is going to be a really cute fun and fluffy romance and i'm really excited for it like everything about the cover just screams summer to me so i think this will be a great book to just read outside and relax with next up is wicked as you wish by wrench pekko so i picked this up fairly recently in my video where i did come book shopping with me online and i ended up picking this one up on a whim but it is also a fantasy that is supposed to be a quicker read and i've heard a lot of great things about this book from you guys actually so it has made me even more intrigued but this is about like a magical kingdom that was left desolate and encased in ice when an evil snow queen waged war on the powerful country and now the former citizens are refugees in the world mostly devoid of magic which is why the crown prince and his protester protectors not protesters are stuck in arizona i totally thought this was going to be something different to be honest but like that does sound really interesting i love the clashing of worlds there i don't think i've ever really heard of anything like that so oh my goodness that made me even more excited for this next up is written in the stars by alexandria belfler so this is another book that i got in that same video except i ended up like picking it up on a whim after i stopped filming but then i showed it in the end of the hall part yeah you can just watch that video i don't know why i explained that so much but i've heard amazing things about this book it is another adult romance and another lesbian adult romance i will say it's really nice that there are so many books that are coming out with female female relationships because when i was working at chapters i used to always get asked about them and like there weren't that many it was always really hard because in like the y a section in particular there were only a couple i would go to that i knew about because there really weren't that many at the time so it's nice that there's a lot more that are coming out so that being said i'm super excited for this one it deals with astrology and i believe it's set in seattle i'm not entirely sure but i also think it deals with fake dating because it says is this relationship fake or is it true love hmm but it also is blurbed by two of my favorite authors so talia hibbert the author of get a life chloe brown blurbed it and then so did christina lauren who we all know that i love so i'm really excited for this one i kind of wanted to read it like recently but i'm saving it for the month of june next is illusionarium by heather dixon this is another book that is supposedly fast so we shall see but i don't even remember what this is about to be honest it looks to be like it's a steampunk sort of victorian fantasy but i'm not entirely sure illusionists and stuff i don't know but i did read entwined by this author and i really liked it that was a 12 dancing princesses retelling so i've had this pretty much ever since and just haven't really gravitated towards it but i would really like to read it and finally is another book that i picked up in that video i did with book shopping with me online and that is i think i love you by orion de sombre so this is another lesbian romance and it just i like completely picked this one up on a whim it looks like it would be something fun and cute and oh there's a movie oh fun but yeah i'm looking forward to this one i think it's gonna be a quick easy read which is all what i'm about right now okay so those are the books that i am hoping to read in june as of now actually i wanted to mention a couple of books that are coming out i wrote them down so that i wouldn't forget and then i almost did is there only one yeah there's only one so one last stop by casey mcquiston is also coming out at the beginning of june so how is it in may i don't know i think it's in june though i think it's june 1st i can't remember anything right now but that one i for sure want to read i loved casey mcquiston's first book which was red right in red red white and royal blue and that one was so good that like i've been so eager to read more by them and this is actually once again a female female relationship but it is about like it has kind of a magical twist so the main character figures out that her subway crush is actually stuck in time from the 70s and like i don't know how any of that's gonna play out but i'm definitely looking forward to finding out so that is actually all of the books that i'm hoping to read in june i hope i will be able to make a good dent in these because after we move we're gonna be i mean looking for hoses and kind of getting settled but i'm hoping that will also be able to take a little bit of time to relax so if anything i might end up listening to a lot of audiobooks but that's fine so i hope you guys enjoyed today's video let me know if you have read any of these books your thoughts on them because i would love to know and i will see you guys in a new video soon i almost i wanted to say next video soon but i started saying in a so i couldn't say in the next in my next videos i don't know but goodbye i will see you soon youeveryone it's hailey and today i'm going to be talking about the books that i would like to read this june so i'm actually picked this one up on a whim it looks like it would be something fun and cute and oh there's a movie oh fun but yeah i'm looking forward to this one i think it's gonna be a quick easy read which is all what i'm about right now okay so those are the books that i am hoping to read in june as of now actually i wanted to mention a couple of books that are coming out i wrote them down so that i wouldn't forget and then i almost did is there only one yeah there's only one so one last stop by casey mcquiston is also coming out at the beginning of june so how is it in may i don't know i think it's in june though i think it's june 1st i can't remember anything right now but that one i for sure want to read i loved casey mcquiston's first book which was red right in red red white and royal blue and that one was so good that like i've been so eager to read more by them and this is actually once again a female female relationship but it is about like it has kind of a magical twist so the main character figures out that her subway crush is actually stuck in time from the 70s and like i don't know how any of that's gonna play out but i'm definitely looking forward to finding out so that is actually all of the books that i'm hoping to read in june i hope i will be able to make a good dent in these because after we move we're gonna be i mean looking for hoses and kind of getting settled but i'm hoping that will also be able to take a little bit of time to relax so if anything i might end up listening to a lot of audiobooks but that's fine so i hope you guys enjoyed today's video let me know if you have read any of these books your thoughts on them because i would love to know and i will see you guys in a new video soon i almost i wanted to say next video soon but i started saying in a so i couldn't say in the next in my next videos i don't know but goodbye i will see you soon you\n"
