PLAID WEEK DAY 3 _ DOLLAR TREE PLAID ORNAMENTS DIY _ 2016

As I sat down to record my latest DIY tutorial for Plaid Week, I couldn't help but feel excited and a little bit nervous. It's been three days since I started this series, and I'm eager to share another fun project with all of you. Today, we're going to make some adorable Dollar Tree ornaments that will add a touch of plaid magic to your Christmas tree.

I've been doing Plaid Week for the past two years now, and I have to say, it's one of my favorite things to do. I just love working with different patterns and textures, especially when it comes to plaid. It's not just limited to Christmas time; I enjoy incorporating plaid into my everyday life, too. So, for today's tutorial, I wanted to create a DIY ornament that would fit right in with the rest of my collection.

To get started, I gathered all the materials I needed from Dollar Tree. I was thrilled to see that they carried a beautiful traditional plaid ribbon that caught my eye. I also picked up some 2x3 picture frames, which will serve as the base for our ornaments. The frames have a gold tint to them, but they also come in black and silver, so if you have a more modern style, feel free to choose the one that suits your taste.

Now, let's talk about the materials themselves. I used two types of materials: plaid ribbon and scrapbook paper. At first, I was planning on using scrapbook paper for our ornaments, but then I stumbled upon the gorgeous plaid ribbon at Dollar Tree. It was love at first sight! The quality of this ribbon is impressive; it's not cheap-looking like some other brands I've seen before. Plus, it has a lovely luxurious feel to it.

To make our ornaments, we'll need to peel back the miniature bows on each picture frame. I chose four of them for this project, but you can adjust the number depending on how many ornaments you want to create. Next, we'll cut and trim the length of the plaid ribbon to fit inside the picture frame. It's amazing how easy it is – just place the ribbon inside the frame, and voilà! Our ornament starts taking shape.

Now that our ornament base is ready, let's add some personality to it. I'm going to apply hot glue to attach a cute little red velvet bow to the center of each ornament. You can use any type of embellishment you like – photos, bells, or even decorations on top of the picture frame. The options are endless! As an added touch, I'll tie a balloon knot at the end of the twine and apply some hot glue to secure it.

Before we move forward with our project, let me just say that this is probably the easiest DIY I've ever done. It's amazing how something as simple as a plaid ribbon can add so much charm to an ornament. If you're not into plaid, don't worry – feel free to use any type of picture or decoration you like.

Now that our ornaments are complete, let me show you the finished product one last time. As you can see, they look adorable and festive. I'm excited to hang them on my Christmas tree and enjoy their plaid charm throughout the holiday season. And don't forget – I'll be back with another DIY tutorial tomorrow, so be sure to tune in for Plaid Week Day Four.

If you're just tuning in and haven't seen Plaid Week Days One and Two from last year, I invite you to check out my previous tutorials. They feature more plaid-themed DIYs, including ornaments, garlands, and even a plaid wreath. As always, be sure to check the description box below for links to all of my past tutorials.

For now, that's it for today's tutorial. Thank you so much for watching, and I'll see you in the next video!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: eni do not care that i'm i'm in my mid 30s and i'm wearing a plaid headband with a bow i do not care i will rock this all day all night until i'm rocking in a rocking chair hi guys so it's plaid week day three and if you're just tuning in and you haven't seen plaid week day one and two or 2015 plaid week then basically what i've been doing is i've been doing a series of videos with diys involving plaid because it is my favorite pattern not just at christmas time but all year round and for today's diy i wanted to do like a dollar tree ornament i've done ornaments in the past especially for plaid week 2015. i thought it'd be really fun to do one for 2016 too just to kind of build up like my ornaments and i really don't have as many plaid ornaments as i would like so eventually maybe by 2018 christmas i'll have enough plaid ornaments to really give my tree like a plaid feel because right now it's more like rustic cabin woodlands and i really want to kind of like migrate more to like cabin plaid if you will and as always i will link all the videos for plaid week day one two down below for 2016 and all of the plaid weeks from last year as well in the description box below but otherwise let's go ahead and get started on plaid week day three let's start off with the materials you're going to need to make these dollar tree plaid picture frames so everything here but the hot glue gun itself is from dollar tree i even found this plaid ribbon at the dollar tree very impressed that they carry this really great traditional plaid because most of the time i've seen their plaid attempts it looks a little bit cheap but this looks very nice and luxurious i'm also showing you that you can use like scrapbook pieces of paper which is what i thought i was originally gonna do but i was so impressed by the ribbon that i ended up using it instead but i am using two by three picture frames from dollar tree they have like a gold tint to it but they also carry black and silver so if you have like a modern taste i would go with silver it will look stunning so i'm also gonna peel back these little miniature bows i'm gonna grab four of them and what i ended up finding out about this project is it's probably the easiest diy i've ever done so and look at this the ribbon is the exact same width as the picture frame all you have to do is basically cut and trim for the length and then you would insert your ribbon just like you would at the picture because the plaid itself is going to be the actual picture and of course if you're not into plaid insert whatever you want here you can even do family photos you know a photo of each of your kids you could do you know decor on top of it like i've done before you just remove the glass and you can add cute little bells they sell little jingle bells and all kinds of you know embellishments at dollar tree so i'm basically just taking some hot glue this is um where i'm going to add the cute little red velvet bow to the center and i mean look at that honestly does that look like a dollar tree diy it just doesn't to me and then i knew i needed something to hang this ornament with and so this is also dollar tree as well they come in these little packets and it has little cute like wintry clothes pens this one has snowflakes on it and i hauled it last year so i'm just using it for the twine and as you can see i'm going to cut four that are going to be the same length and then i'm going to tie like a balloon knot at the end of it i don't know if that's the correct like term for the knot i did but i call it like a balloon knot how i would just tie a balloon and then i'm going to apply some hot glue to the back of the picture frame and then i'm also going to add a dab of hot glue to the top of the knot so that it doesn't ever unravel and you guys that's it i mean do as many as your little heart desires i should have done eight so i'm gonna have to go back and pick up four more because i feel like eight is a really good number for a tree especially if you have a big tree you can do about four in the front and four in the back so but i only did four here and i'm showing you again the process one more time but it was super easy to do and this plaid is kicking it like i'm shocked i found this at dollar tree so i hope that you guys find it hopefully your dollar trees are stacked with all of these little goodies and again i hope you enjoyed this video and thank you so much for watching and i'll see you for plaid week day four you\n"
