Welcome to Barbecue Pit Boys: Grilling Up a Flamethrower Cheeseburger
Today, we're grilling up a flamethrower cheeseburger at the pit, and it's real easy to do. For this recipe, you'll need some ground chuck - we've got about 4 lbs here. We also have our hot sauce, which you can use your favorite. Onions are a crucial ingredient in many BBQ recipes, and we're no exception. We've got an onion here that will add a sweet and savory flavor to our cheeseburger.
In addition to the ground chuck, we'll need some paprika for this recipe. Paprika is a popular spice that adds depth and smokiness to many dishes. You can use your favorite paprika, but make sure it's a high-quality one that complements the other flavors in the dish. We also have a tomato - not just any tomato, but a pablano pepper, which is a mild to medium-hot pepper that will add a bit of heat to our cheeseburger. Italian green peppers are another essential ingredient, and we've got those here too.
The magic ingredient in this recipe is the habanero. This chili pepper is one of the hottest on the planet, so be careful when handling it! We're using gloves for safety, and you should do the same if you plan to use habaneros in your cooking. Don't scratch your boys later on if you know what I mean - we've all been there. The habanero is a game-changer in this recipe, adding an intense heat that will take your cheeseburger to the next level.
Now that we have all our ingredients ready, let's chop up the veggies really good. We want fine chunks, not big chunks, so we'll use about half of an onion, the pablano pepper, and the Italian green pepper. We're also adding some SPG - a hot sauce made from Scotch Bonnets - to give this recipe an extra kick. Two tablespoons should do the trick. Mix everything really well, making sure all the flavors are balanced.
To make our cheeseburger easier to shape, we'll form it into meatballs. You can use your favorite burger recipe and shape it into balls instead of patties. This makes cooking and flipping the burgers a breeze. We've got about 100 recipes for just burgers alone on our website, so if you're interested in trying something new, be sure to check them out.
Before we start grilling, let's talk about dimpling. Dimpling is a technique used to prevent burgers from blowing up and getting fat while they cook. Simply press down on the burger with your thumb or fingers before placing it on the grill. This helps to release any excess juices and prevents the burger from bursting open.
Now that our meatballs are ready, let's place them on our Santa Maria Grill. The Santa Maria is a great choice for grilling burgers because of its even heat distribution and ability to sear the meat quickly. You can check out the Santa Maria online - it's worth investing in if you're serious about BBQ.
After a few minutes, we'll flip the burgers and add some pepper jack cheese. This special cheese has a spicy kick that pairs perfectly with our habanero-infused meatballs. We'll use our flamethrowers to melt the cheese - it makes cooking so much easier! As the cheese melts, the aroma will fill the air, making your mouth water in anticipation.
Now that our burgers are cooked, let's assemble them. We've got about eight of them ready to go, and they're looking great. Remember, your buns are just as important as the meat - use a good one to soak up all those juices.
We're getting close to finishing off this recipe, so let's add some toppings. We'll need tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise to complete the flavor profile. The mayonnaise might seem like an odd choice for a BBQ cheeseburger, but trust us - it adds a creamy element that balances out the heat from the habaneros.
And there you have it! Our flamethrower cheeseburgers are ready to be devoured. We apologize for eating in front of you while we cooked, but we like to call this "pitm privilege." If you're looking for more BBQ recipes or want to learn how to make your own cheeseburger, check out our website for plenty of inspiration and guidance.
As always, thanks for joining us on the Barbecue Pit Boys' grill. We'll catch you in the next video!
